Great Interior, Not So Great Sleep. The hotel has beautiful, stylish interiors and some lovely touches, including lovely toiletries (though apparently conditioner didn’t make the guest list). Unfortunately, the air conditioning is mounted directly in the window and sounds like a small aircraft preparing for takeoff. Sleeping with it on? Impossible. Sleeping without it? Also an adventure. Add some nearby party noise, and a good night’s sleep becomes more of a theoretical concept. Morning coffee is promised but not always ready-made, breakfast isn’t included, and the neighbouring restaurant is decent but nothing to write home about. There are also plenty of stairs and no elevator, although a very kind receptionist helped us with our luggage - much appreciated! Overall, lovely design and friendly service, but with so few amenities included, we would probably book a private home or rental next time or pay a little extra for another hotel and hope that would solve a few of the other things.

Ok rooms. Basic. The worst thing was all the noise in the neighbourhood og very pore isolation in the windows. Garbage trucks woke us up every morning at 6 am. Should have gotten this suspicion when they put out earplugs in the rooms. Will not stay here again, A little on the dodgy end of gaslamp district,

I stayed here with 2 colleagues for five nights while attending a conference. The hotel is conveniently located in the Gaslamp District, a short walk from the convention center and close to plenty of restaurants and bars. It's a boutique-style property with a well-executed look. There is no elevator, however, and the rooms are up two long flights of stairs, which can be difficult with heavy luggage. My colleagues and I stayed in rooms 219, 221, and 222, facing E Street. The colleague in room 221 noticed a strong, unpleasant odor as soon as they entered, which was not present in our other rooms. They were moved to room 220 the following day, but we felt the front desk could have been more receptive to our concern about the smell. The rooms have high ceilings and attractive exposed brick walls, but the furnishings are basic, the room not very spacious, and there is no safe or refrigerator. The pillows were rather firm, and the bathroom was simple but adequate. My biggest concern however, was noise. There is very little soundproofing, and street noise was loud and constant, including voices, engines, sirens, and frequent garbage trucks. It woke me several times each night and early each morning. In hindsight, the earplugs on the desk, which I noticed immediately upon entering the room, were a clue. Because of this, I unfortunately can't recommend staying here.
