I had to pay $20 to the hotel for booking through Expedia (a third party). My hotel room was relatively clean except for the AC unit - which was dusty. The surrounding area was pretty boring with bad food options. Unfortunately, the pool area was closed, as was the fitness facility, so the two (2) main reasons I booked a stay here were unusable to me. Also, the TV channels were limited even though they made it seem like they had the best cable package.

There was no coffee or linens for the sofa need in the room. The heat lamp in the bathroom could not be turned off. The microwave did not work. When I tried calling housekeeping or the desk no one answered for hours. There was no cc machine in the bar and grill they made everyone pay cash before the would even cook the meals. Some were forced to use a cash machine with high fees. The pools also had dirty green water and the tiles were falling off the sides into the water.

Both treadmills were broken and one nearly through me off - it stopped and then jerked. All hallway carpets were old dingy and had ratty tape on the seams. The desk clerk told me to park around back - there were roofers there with roofing nails laying in the parking lot!

This hotel was not in good condition. The outside doors that were supposed to be locked and could only be accessed by entering a code were never locked at any point. Upon entering my room there was a seal on the door ensuring it was cleaned. After entering I was greeted with extremely stained carpet. There were also what looked like Cheeto stains on the outside comforter on one of the beds. There was not a single towel that was provided at check in, but was given towels after going back to the front desk. The beds were hard as a rock. None of the ice machines on the first floor worked. Breakfast was the best thing about the stay. The food was hot and the staff was friendly. The pool was also ok. Water was cloudy but nothing major.

I could almost overlook the uncleanliness of this place if it wasn’t for the fact that it is completely UNSAFE. One of the outdoor doors would not close and lock so I reported it to the front desk. Checked again three hours later, like around 9pm and the door was still wide open. It couldn’t even shut flush against the other door, so I went back to the front desk to check in about it. The guy got the assistant manager, initials JC. He was so rude and didn’t care whatsoever that the property was unsecured. He told me they were in the process of replacing the doors, but what kind of place just leaves their building unsecured? Nothing was offered to accommodate me and in fact, JC was just super rude about the whole situation. I hardly got any sleep because of it. On top of that, the place is filthy and smells bad. Do not stay here; wild how these properties are run.

Check in and out was easy. The hotel looks rough, cleanliness was ok. Barely any pool towels. Pool was soooo small, cloudy, not clear. Outside pool is closed. No hot tub. Breakfast was out of regular coffee, not a soul around to tell. No fresh fruit, ran out of most items before the end of breakfast (9:30am) about 9:15 a lady showed up to refill things. We stayed one night, the morning we were leaving I noticed mold growing on the ceiling in the bathroom- about two feet of black growth, not just a little. I can’t believe this hotel has the ratings it does. I will not be returning.

Overall, there seems to be a disconnect from whats presented online and the reality of it all when you visit. The Good: Staff was super friendly and helpful. They addressed our concerns and were quick to find resolution to the best of their abjlities. Breakfast was offered and one of the highlights of our week long stay. The Bad: They advertise as having two pools and a hot tub but only one pool is available and with both the hot tub and the external pool no longer available to guests. Indoor pool was available, however, it did not seem to be filtered or chemically treated properly as the water itself seem cloudy and some of the panels were missing their guards/tiles thus creating trip or fall hazards. The Ugly: This hotel is clearly showing its age and while the rooms seem to be slightly updated, it leaves a lot to be desired for visually and esthetically. There is some deception in their advertising of amenities. The housekeeping is not up to par as some of the blankets were soiled prior to our arrival. This location is clearly in limbo between a motel designation and a one star hotel status charging three star prices. One expects better of a Wyndham property at those rates. I would strongly reconsider alternatives should I visit Charleston again in the future.

Incredibly disappointing! The pictures are incredibly misleading. When you see a dirty worn out rug in the hallway and in the lobby, you know the rest of the place is going to be horrible. The pool was incredibly dirty because obviously their filter doesn’t work or it hasn’t been running a long time. The front desk clerk said that there had been a group of kids from a baseball tournament that had just been in it. If a sufficient filter is running in a swimming pool, it doesn’t matter how many people are in that pool. My husband and I walked to the edge and we looked in the pool and we couldn’t even see to the bottom. It was murky and disgusting. Also, the bar and restaurant only take cash. We never carry cash in the United States when traveling. Besides who carries cash anymore? I couldn’t believe that they didn’t take Apple Pay! This is not the 1980s! The phone that was in the room is literally from the 1980s. Whoever owns this franchise literally does not take pride in what they own. If they did, they would ensure the fact that the place was up to code. The health department needs to go into this place and do a full sweep! So should the fire inspector. It’s absolutely horrific.

The property is run down and needs a total upgrade. The first room they assigned us had not been cleaned. The next room had been cleaned, but trash left in garbage can. The room keys did not work. The indoor pool water was green and slimy. The reason we chose this property was for kids to swim. I can't believe this was a Wyndham resort.

There was mold in the first room air conditioner I had them move me. The second room is what I have pictures of. Mold in the floor, roaches climbing the walls, weed soo strong in the hallway, my refrigerator didn’t work so I had to put my groceries in the break room fridge. There was mold up the curtains and all over the side of the bed. They charge just as much as the nice ones that are sanitary. It was an awful night. I was supposed to get a refund and it’s been several days with no refund.

Stained carpet and chair. bed had been made but when I pulled back the sheets, they were blood spotted and it was obvious it had been slept in. Manager encouraged me to check another room to see if "it meets your standards." The other room had the same stained carpet and chair, and the door didn't latch, but the sheets appeared clean.

The room was dirty, looked as if it hadnt been vacuumed or mopped in days. Bathroom was very dirty, black stuff in the sink, tub and floor. Back of toilet hadnt been cleaned and had dirt and pubic hair on it. The heat/air conditioner was filthy had several dead bugs and dirt in the part that puts out the air. Mold on one of the walls and floor in the room. I have several pics but it wont let me upload them.

Hotel was run down. The pool floor was filled with dirt. The keys did not work in the doors. I spent so much time trying to get into my room. The bedspread had a yellow stain and one of the towels did as well. The place did not seem clean and it smelled. The show curtain smelled rotten. I was so disappointed in this hotel. I’ve stayed at many hotels and never really have given a review until now. We definitely will not being staying there again.

When we arrived, I received a text welcoming me and letting me know if I needed anything just to respond to the text. I did to let them know that the toilet seat was loose. I received no response. When I turned on the TV, I got a message on the screen that there was weak or no signal. I dialed the number for maintenance with no answer. Then I called the front desk only to get a message that the mailbox was full and accepting no new messages. I the called the assistant general manager and he answered. It was an easy fix that if there was direction of what to do would have saved a lot of frustration. After that I discovered there was only one light in the bathroom, and that was flickering. I didn't bother to call anyone and went directly to the front desk. The girl was very friendly and said she would try to find the maintenance man. Needless to say the light never got replaced and fortunately, the other one didn't go out.

Staff was friendly, took longer than expected to get checked in. The suite was just okay, definitely not worth what I spent on it. TV in the bigger room must have had a short as it worked when it wanted to workTV in the smaller room was much bigger and nicer as it worked when we actually tried to watch it. Rooms should be renovated as the wallpaper had places where it was peeling. Other than the friendly lady that came from the back to check us in it was very unimpressive and not worth the cost

As you pull up to the hotel it looks very nice. The lobby, common area, and bar are nice. And then you enter the hallways to the rooms. What a disappointment in both the long hallways and rooms. Very outdated and need updated. I felt like I stepped back in a 20 year time warp

Parking lot is creepy on the back side. We parked out front.

The bed was comfortable and the room had all the basic necessities. On one of the beds there was a metal bar sticking out of the frame. You had to be careful not to run into it. The hallway had the smell of dog urine in it.

For the money we had a bed to sleep in. The hotel is in bad need of some TLC. Our toilet was not secured to the floor with the tiles busting up around it. We were placed way at the end of the hotel when they found out we had pets. While that was supposed to be a plus for access to the pet area, the entrance door “D” would not close so was not secure and the subsequent door to the hallway would bang loudly as people came and went all hours of the night. So none of us got good sleep. I wouldn’t book it again.

When we arrived, I received a text welcoming me and letting me know if I needed anything just to respond to the text. I did to let them know that the toilet seat was loose. I received no response. When I turned on the TV, I got a message on the screen that there was weak or no signal. I dialed the number for maintenance with no answer. Then I called the front desk only to get a message that the mailbox was full and accepting no new messages. I the called the assistant general manager and he answered. It was an easy fix that if there was direction of what to do would have saved a lot of frustration. After that I discovered there was only one light in the bathroom, and that was flickering. I didn't bother to call anyone and went directly to the front desk. The girl was very friendly and said she would try to find the maintenance man. Needless to say the light never got replaced and fortunately, the other one didn't go out.

The staff from front desk to breakfast kitchen to housekeeping and the Managers are absolutely amazing. Everyone I encountered was so friendly, smiling and genuine in efforts to make our stay the best it could be. Everybody needs a raise! The Wyndham Gardens is one of the cleanest, freshest up to date accommodations I’ve had the pleasure to stay in. But it’s the staff that sets the facility a world apart from the rest! Thank you to one and all!

Safety: The most important thing to know about this hotel is the lack of security. We stayed 3 nights, and not once was the door we entered through (Door B, not the main entrance) locked. The area wasn't scary enough to cancel our reservation, but I would not stay here again. Cleanliness: The room itself (2nd floor) was fine, but the hallways and stairwells were dirty with ripped carpet and chipped paint, etc. The hotel needs some TLC. Staff: Front desk and morning breakfast lady were very nice, but employees gathered outside our window in the morning and were quite loud (male breakfast guys. Free breakfast: No complaints, typical with waffles, eggs, potatoes, sausage. Did like that it wasn't the same every morning. Juice available as juice boxes. The current rating of 3.9 might be a little high.

We had a nice chat with the new manager. He was very nice and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. He told us about some improvements they were doing to the hotel. We enjoyed meeting him and it sounds like he will have a positive impact on the hotel.

We would like to make this our regular stop when traveling from our son's home in Virginia and our home in Missouri. The first time was fine. This time, the woman at the front desk when we checked in was just plain unfriendly. Asked us questions and barely waited for a complete sentence before hitting you with another. Just poor customer service in our opinion. The next morning I asked who checked us in and the young lady wasn't sure if it was Maxine (or Monica) or Jo. So, I'm sorry I can't point you in the right direction on who you might want to counsel. But this employee really needs some Customer Service training in our opinion. Everything else was great, so we plan to return in August on our next trip. I won't let this staffer treat me poorly again. We will have it out.

Overall, there seems to be a disconnect from whats presented online and the reality of it all when you visit. The Good: Staff was super friendly and helpful. They addressed our concerns and were quick to find resolution to the best of their abjlities. Breakfast was offered and one of the highlights of our week long stay. The Bad: They advertise as having two pools and a hot tub but only one pool is available and with both the hot tub and the external pool no longer available to guests. Indoor pool was available, however, it did not seem to be filtered or chemically treated properly as the water itself seem cloudy and some of the panels were missing their guards/tiles thus creating trip or fall hazards. The Ugly: This hotel is clearly showing its age and while the rooms seem to be slightly updated, it leaves a lot to be desired for visually and esthetically. There is some deception in their advertising of amenities. The housekeeping is not up to par as some of the blankets were soiled prior to our arrival. This location is clearly in limbo between a motel designation and a one star hotel status charging three star prices. One expects better of a Wyndham property at those rates. I would strongly reconsider alternatives should I visit Charleston again in the future.

The property is conveniently located for where we were needing to stay. Close to multiple restaurants, close to the gas station, and not far from Nitro! Only downside was it had a slightly outdated feel. Only one elevator which is located at one end of the hotel. Check in was easy, front desk staff wasn’t rude but also not friendly, and the bathroom had a few loose tiles. It wasn’t the worst hotel I have stayed at and would likely stay again.

The breakfast was a zoo! It was Sunday morning and the hotel was very busy. Only one nice lady doing the best she could to try and keep up. The items on the breakfast bar were mostly empty. Coffee was gone. There was no way one person can serve the hot food to the people in line and keep the bar stocked. Please get her some help!

There was no coffee or linens for the sofa need in the room. The heat lamp in the bathroom could not be turned off. The microwave did not work. When I tried calling housekeeping or the desk no one answered for hours. There was no cc machine in the bar and grill they made everyone pay cash before the would even cook the meals. Some were forced to use a cash machine with high fees. The pools also had dirty green water and the tiles were falling off the sides into the water.

Incredibly disappointing! The pictures are incredibly misleading. When you see a dirty worn out rug in the hallway and in the lobby, you know the rest of the place is going to be horrible. The pool was incredibly dirty because obviously their filter doesn’t work or it hasn’t been running a long time. The front desk clerk said that there had been a group of kids from a baseball tournament that had just been in it. If a sufficient filter is running in a swimming pool, it doesn’t matter how many people are in that pool. My husband and I walked to the edge and we looked in the pool and we couldn’t even see to the bottom. It was murky and disgusting. Also, the bar and restaurant only take cash. We never carry cash in the United States when traveling. Besides who carries cash anymore? I couldn’t believe that they didn’t take Apple Pay! This is not the 1980s! The phone that was in the room is literally from the 1980s. Whoever owns this franchise literally does not take pride in what they own. If they did, they would ensure the fact that the place was up to code. The health department needs to go into this place and do a full sweep! So should the fire inspector. It’s absolutely horrific.

The hot breakfast was delicious. The fried apples was a neat iaddition to the buffet line. Indoor and outdoor pools or small but exceptionally warm. The beds were comfortable and clean. The price was right & so close to the soccer fields. Sheets next door is a big bonus for hungry players. The bar has a pool table! The staff was exceptionally kind. Overall decent stay.

Our stay was not pleasant. The noise was horrible, the pool was dirty, and they ran out of breakfast way before it was over. We couldnt even get a cup of coffee. There was no one at the front desk to check out so we left our keys.
