I stayed at the Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport (21–22 August 2025) and was very disappointed. The room was dirty, smelled strongly of mildew, and the carpet and furniture were stained. On the second day, even though I asked only for fresh towels, staff entered my room, cleaned it without permission, and opened my closed suitcase. My personal items were removed from my bed, repacked into the suitcase, and then the suitcase was placed on the dirty, disgusting floor. They even mixed my hygiene items with food snacks. Although I called the hotel the morning of my flight and asked about the shuttle service, I was assured that even though my plane did not arrive until after 10 at night, I could just call the hotel and they would send the shuttle to pick me up. When I called, I was advised that the shuttle driver had left early that day. When I complained, I was told that the shuttle service is complimentary and they were under no obligation to pick me up. This is unacceptable. I felt violated and disrespected, and I strongly do not recommend this hotel. The only saving grace was that the staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and respectful, especially Kira, who checked me in when I arrived and checked me out at the end of my stay.

This was a much older property. Needs some upgrades. Staff and workers were all great. Hallway air conditioning did not work. Very good breakfast, however you must purchase. Erika sis a great job with the breakfast buffet. Holiday inns are usually top notch. This one wa not.

Very nice, clean hotel. I only stayed overnight but no issues for me. I would definitely book again. They offer extended parking for $10 a day which is the same as economy parking at the airport but your vehicle is parked in the main parking lot, unsecured . I didn’t chance it as the surroundings were a little sketchy. Overall great place to stay.

Pleasant reception, clean lobby, very outdated rooms. Very friendly bartenders but the kitchen was non functional for our stay. Good place to stay for a night pre or post flight out. Not a long term hotel.

The staff are very friendly but the hotel smells and the carpets / walls are in desperate need of repair. I question if the rooms are actually being cleaned ...there were items left in the room from a previous guest that should have been found by the housekeeper but weren't ...one can only wonder if they are cleaning the rooms or making them look as though they are cleaned

Out for the Talladega race. This was close to airport and very convenient. The people were great. super helpful and friendly staff. The room was aged at best. Carpet was filth appearing, and the room chair appeared dirt as well, but just old and very used. It is time for a full update. The bed and bathroom were nice. Bead was clean and Bathroom looked like it had been recently updated. Elevators made me question my stay as well. very worn. Lobby furniture was so low to the ground it was hard to get out of. no legs on any of the couched in lobby.

Fruit flies and one roach in the room Window view was a rooftop with a HVAC systems. Remote control didn't work for TV. Flashing red light on the phone means nothing. I thought I had a message. The breakfast food was cold when it's supposed to be hot breakfast. Management would like to compensate me, but since we did this to a third-party little complicated could take a couple months. But they were trying to be accommodating from management standpoint..

We left after a few hours after checking in, we were very disappointed and knew we would not sleep. The poor conditions of this hotel are very deceiving compared to what this hotel looks like on the website. The hallway carpets are stained and the overall impression is poor. Our room’s carpet was extremely worn and torn. The humidity level in the room caused the sheets to be damp, and wet. The restaurant’s service was poor, taking 1.5 hours to finally receive everyone’s orders in our party. Although we have never stayed in a hotel that questioned safety, we were grateful for the security they have in place, for our car was extremely packed full of fun for our vacation with our family. Although we were parked under a light, we felt uncomfortable regarding the safety of its’ location. We needed a good nights rest, and considering the above mentioned concerns,we did not think it would be possible to relax and sleep well. None of this is the responsibility, of Angel at the Front Desk. She was nothing but kind during our check in, and actually reached out to us immediately after she saw us leaving the premises at 9:15 PM. Did I mention the huge leak coming from the ceiling in the lobby, whereas they had a laundry cart catching the drips in a plastic bag? This hotel needs to be shut down and renovated! Corporate needs to visit!

The room was looking old and there was mold in the bathroom. There was no TP or soap. Had to ask for some. The remote did not work had to ask twice before someone came. There was no secondary lock on the door. When asked the maintenance person he said would fix but never did.

I had booked a king bed room, and when arrived I had a king bed in the room but also a set of bunk beds, and no chair with a reading lamp. I did not want or need the bunk beds. I need need a chair and reading lamp as I had planned to do some reading time and didn't want to use the rather uncomfortable desk chair, which was the only chair available in the room. The carpet was stained in multiple areas, and the water in the sink drained extremely slow and needed attention from maintenance. Later the card I had provided for unexpected expenses as required at check in, was compromised and I had to cancel my card for fraud, which I suspect was related to providing to this hotel. The food served in the breakfast area was terrible. The foods that were supposed to be hot were instead cold, and the yogurt and foods that should be cold were instead room temperature. The food was certainly not worth the $15 charge..Overall, it was an unpleasant experience and I will never stay at this hotel again.

The hotel felt very old. The shower is reminiscent of an old trailer shower. Water pressure in the shower was amazing, but the drain couldn't keep up. Within a minute ankle deep in the shower. A/C was also lagging, and it wasnt even full on summer, very humid and thick air even in the room. Bar/kitchen left a lot to be desired. The only other good part was the wicked fast elevator.

The room was clean, but very noise! Ac wasn’t working well! The hotel building is close to 2 busy roads and there was another loud noise in the room that made almost impossible for us to sleep. We found out in the morning, that the noise was coming from the elevator cables.

They had an airport shuttle and thr staff were friendly. I think i recieved a poorly loacted room. I could hear all the elevator traffic as well as the ice machines and street traffic even over my sound machine.

Amazing staff! From check in, to breakfast, to check out... everyone we encountered were friendly, professional, and easy to talk to. Room was super clean and had everything we needed. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars was the hall carpet was in need of replacement, there was a large water stain in the ceiling with mold (we stayed on 6th floor)

Great room this hotel has been around since I was a little girl, so wasn’t sure about but was pleased. It does need some hall way up keep taken care of. But the location to the airport was great and very friendly staff.

When we arrived there was a noone at the desk. A non employee said she would be back shortly. While we waited three more groups showed up. Someone from the bar/restaurant area came by and said "she knows shes not supposed to leave the desk". We get checked in and I had to leave an additional card on file. Then she asked me if I would be charging my drink to the room. The drink I carried in and she would have seen had she been at the counter. When I said no she seemed to think I was being dishonest. The room across from us was a hotel room that was being used as a storage room because when we went to leave in the morning we couldn't get out because all the house keeping carts were blocking the way. The room was ok.... There were bugs in the bathroom and the wall mounted toiletries were on the side of the tube with busted lids. Would not stay again especially for this price. When I went to check out I could not have a receipt because "I would have to wait till the last that knows how to do that comes back". Not sure if they are asking front staff to also be the airport shuttle but maybe ask the person that can't do the bills to drive.

Start with the positive - the staff was really great, friendly and helpful. The location was perfect - we went to a nearby show at Saturn and flew out the next morning. Parking was easy. Unfortunately the hotel itself is worn and showing the need for a refresh. But the musty smell in our room - and out in the corridors and the lobby - was really difficult. The windows don't open, and even leaving the AC on high while we were at the concert did nothing to remove the smell. We both left with sore throats.

The location was ideal for my stay. The front desk staff was courteous and friendly and extended so much grace to me due to my circumstances. One drawback I felt could improve was the length of the wait for check-in. The front desk person was also the shuttle driver so several of us checking in at the same time had to wait until the shuttle returned.

Ashley was extremely great at checkin she was super friendly. She left a beautiful card for me at the room for my birthday and I appreciate that so much. She definitely should receive many praises for making guest feel comfortable and welcomed. I will use this location again because of her amazing work. Thank you. The room was clean quiet. Staff provided extra towels as needed promptly. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Thank you so much for making our stay a week ago now such a wonderful one! The kitchen/restaurant staff were especially friendly and conversational, making our dining experience an extra pleasant one. Not to mention the food is delicious anyway. Beds are comfortable, everything is clean and tidy, house keeping did a good job servcing the room as usual, and even the manager was extra helpful and friendly, taking personal time out of his day to help us out with a couple small things. We always enjoy staying at the Holiday Inn Express at the Birmingham Airport whenever we are traveling in the area. Thanks again and God bless!

Stayed for one night as this hotel is close to the airport and has convenient shuttle service. Only dislike was that there’s a lot of freeway and train traffic noise through the night so bring some earplugs if you want some help with deeper sleep. The in-house restaurant and bar had great food and was perfect for us as there weren’t any restaurants that we could find close by.

At first I regretted booking this specific holiday Inn because of the location and the appearance when arriving, but we were pleasantly surprised when we walked in. Everything looked nice. It was kept together well. The rooms were just as good as any other hotel and I really enjoyed the breakfast in the morning

I thought all Holiday Inn Express hotels had complimentary breakfast, but I guess not. They charge $12 for continental breakfast. The room was musty and there was black mold on the bathroom ceiling.

We enjoy staying at this hotel. Anytime we are flying through the Birmingham airport, this is where we stay. Very comfortable and clean. Everyone is very nice and professional. The breakfast is very good and fresh. However, it takes WAY TOO LONG to get an omelet. We each ordered an omelet. The lady there told us to go ahead and get the rest of our food from the buffet. We ate this part of our breakfast and then waited and waited AND WAITED. My husband got his omelet first. And then we waited again. By the time mine came out, his was cold. The omelets were good, but the wait was way too long.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We went downstairs to eat dinner and get a drink, sat at the bar. Bartender was super nice, but there were COCKROACHES crawling on the bar in front of us where all the glasses and condiments and liquor were. Not just one, but multiple. It was so disgusting. The bartenders saw them and did nothing, ignoring them completely, like they were just part of the crew. Bedroom was ok, bathroom drain was covered in the previous guests hair.

Everything about this hotel was great! Breakfast was amazing. The only thing can recommend is to update/fix game room for the kids. We were very pleased once again with our stay. Thank you!

The stay was great. We were told that renovations were in the works, which explained the temperature in the hallway to our room. We could tell it was an older model Holiday Inn. The room was accommodating and the staff was helpful. The breakfast was as advertised and we enjoyed it.
