Newfound Lodge on the river

The room was freezing, sheets where stiff from it so cold, no ice box but It didn't matter because the ice machine didn't work. Toilet run and was tore up, no hot water, to take a shower it was hot water nozel turned on and barely warm. Only one garbage can in the whole room including bathroom. Only a few stations on the little tv, nothing to watch. Little refrigerator wasnt cold at all and not capable of holding or keeping drinks in it. Heater was turned on immediately and we left to go eat and when we came back the room was still freezing and was on high heat. 12 hrs later the little heater finaly clicked off. This was the worst place i believe i could have picked to stay in cherokee NC.

In the back of the bedroom is a river. Also accepting service dog. Front desk is friendly

Cherokee is just not the same as it used to be. Seems like most everything is not even Native owned or operated. Prices are just ridiculous for food. 6 o'clock and everything closes down. Looks like a ghost town after 6pm. Probably be the last time I 'll visit Cherokee. The bed was horrible! Could not sleep at all. Woke up sore the next day. Cannot watch TV from the bed with the paper thin pillows. And 1 smelled like pee real bad! No cleaning service the next day. Had to walk to front desk to get everything. Only 1 ice machine at the other end of the motel and limited to a bucket a day. See pictures attached. Would not recommend to a homeless person!

Decent room. Not the nicest but it was a pet friendly room

PET FRIENDLY - THAT IS WHY WE CHOSE NEDWFOUND OUTSIDE LIGHT ON BALCONY DID NOT WORK. LIGHT OUTSIDED OF ROOM DOOR DID NOT WORK.

The room smelled musty and the bed had dog hair in it. The sheets were not changed. Nice location but a mediocre motel otherwise.

I'm usually a go with the flow, just need a place to sleep kinda girl but this was not even bare minimum... One positive note was pretty view of the creek from the balcony.

The microwave didn't work, fridge quit, light were dim, air cond leaking, walls stained with something , curtains were stained.y daughters room had a ceiling leaking onto theiddle.of the bed and the air didn't work.

Bed bugs.....enough said.

Flat sheets do not stay tucked, they move and get bunched beneath you making you uncomfortable. There wasn’t a blow dryer to dry my hair. Soap residue was on the sink where a wet bar of soap had sat from previous guest. There was dust all over the furniture.

Water damage visible with black mold. Dirty carpet. Musty smell. The balcony however was great with view of creek. Needs to be lit up thou, very dark.

The only redeeming thing was the balcony view. The room was shabby and dirty. Plus I had no towels. And it was very noisy. The most disturbing part were the holes in the walls.

Shower walls and shower curtain had blue body wash or shampoo on it. Drains very slow. Carpet is filthy.

Room was sufficient for the purpose, a bed to sleep in while on a fishing trip with buddies. I wouldn’t want to bring my wife to stay. Walls had major water damage and dry wall buckling with wall paper peeling off the walls. The room was cool and had good AC. Was just one step above primitive camping but for $88 it was survivable for one night.

Nice, low-budget room with outdoor balcony on a river. I was very pleased with my accommodations at the Newfound Lodge - spacious room, very comfortable bed, mini-fridge w/ freezer, microwave, and river view. The room furnishings are old with saggy carpet, scratched walls, and a small TV and bathroom. Also a musty odor when first entering the room. But for the price and location, it was perfect.

The AC/Heat unit did not work, coffee pot still had coffee in it from a previous guest. Light on balcony did not work. They did bring us a fan for the room. Pillows also need a serious upgrade. Stayed only 1 night. Would not book here again.

Very much outdated. Under construction. No hot water upon arrival. Was not notified of hot water outage, when managment knew of the issue days prior.

First off, this hotel is dated and it shows, so if you are looking for modern creature comforts this is place is not for you. Wallpaper is coming off, water stains on the ceiling, and outdate furniture. If you ask me this gives it charm. The place was clean and lady at check was polite. The biggest draw of this place is how close you are to one of the best National parks and the view from the balcony. You could keep the balcony door open and fall asleep to the sound of the river running. The only negative i had during my stay and it wasn't the hotels fault was the strong smell of cannabis coming from outside balcony area at night. It wasnt there in the morning so we were able to enjoy a nice relaxing morning.

Good room with a great river view from the balcony. Rooms are right on the river. No maid service while we were there. Dated facilty and decor, but good value for the price.

The large balcony on the river with rocking chairs was great. We had a large room with a king bed and loveseat which was nice. Some road noise but not bad. We saw several elk very near the hotel. Canadian geese, hawks and other birds were on the river. Be warned on your room location: We had one of the worse rooms there. It was on the ground floor next to the laundry/boiler room where an industrial dryer's very large vent was mounted on the back wall next to our balcony. We stayed 3 nights. One day and a half was ruined from the very loud dryer vent almost continuously in use. We could not hear anything else. This totally defeated the reason we chose to stay on the river. I'm sure the room above ours and the room over the laundry was also impacted by the noise. The small closet area was repurposed for the small fridge and microwave sitting on a table. Great idea but it left us with a tiny area to hang our clothing with 3 hangers on each side. And having clothing up against these appliances does not seem safe.

Not the best kept rooms. It’s an older place. But sitting on the river with the balcony made up for a lot. Seen no. Staff once checked it so really not sure about them. They didn’t clean room while we were there. I guess that’s a new thing for a lot of places.

A little outdated, but for the most part, great service and clean rooms.

It was good, the bathroom is small like room closet small. the sink water doesn't have enough pressure and doesn't get hot very well. Also had issues with my card to enter my room and couldn't get in my room late one night and with no overnight support i was stuck with sleeping in my car overnight until morning probably not staying in this spot for a while

The front desk employee was and is always amazing. This was our 2nd time staying here and we have made this best choice!!

Check in time was 4 pm. We were not able to get in room untill 5:10 pm. Firt time we tried to get in room it had not been serviced yet. Then the second timer We tried it had been cleaned but beds not made.

clean room, wonderful staff

I like that the property was clean; and close to the river. I like how quiet it was, as if nobody was there around us.

Easy access, view to river

I spent most of my time in the Cherokee casino. When I checked in they were friendly and courteous. The beds were comfortable. The parking was next to the rooms. I was pleased with the accommodations.

Absolutely loved staying there. The little balcony with the rocking chairs next to the stream was everything. So peaceful. So quiet. Just beautiful. Well kept place to stay. Literal went to Dairy Queen which was steps away. So close to everything. We hardly left. Friendly staff. Easy to book.

We brought our son to NC for his 10th bday trip and he caught his 1st native trout in the river behind the hotel, pink meat. That was his only request. While fishing in the river we looked up the river and seen a heard of elk crossing, very cool. We will be returning.

Love that all the balconies face the river. So beautiful and peaceful. Wonderful price great location. It’s perfect for the Cherokee experience and for the family.

We had room 106, the room was very clean, the outside porch was very nice, wonder view of the river, location was ideal for good resturants, the staff was really nice and helpful answering questions. we will deinitely be back to this wonderful lodge.

The location was excellent. Patio/balcony was wonderful. Great stay.
