One of the main amenities we were looking forward to was the pool. We got there to learn it was closed since 2 weeks prior to our arrival. It was not closed when we booked. We were never made aware before hand to allow us anytime to book another place. The alternative offered was to buy a day pass at another pool. These cost $35/person, so it would have been an additional $140 expense on our trip. We were not satisfied and asked to speak to the manager several times. He could never be contacted or found anywhere. They gave me a card to contact him. I attempted contact via phone and email and have yet to hear back from the manager. This is extremely poor customer service, and this situation affected our stay negatively. I would still like to speak with someone about this.

Great location. Needs major updates. The carpet throughout the hotel was dirty stained the back of the property is disgusting with garbage everywhere smelt like marijuana in the valet area. Internet was so spotty I could not work, I could not get a Lyft inside from my room, Wi-Fi was horrible was advice. It’s dish half the channels did not work because of dish network. People in the hotel were fantastic. Very nice and helpful. Especially the bar area. Great time with the bartenders and the patrons at the hotel.

This hotel was a full service hotel. There was a restaurant, bar, happy hour from 5 to 7. Room was cleaned every day and we had valet parking. The staff was wonderful and saw to our every need. It had all the charm of yesteryear, even though it is not that old. Special kudos to the manager who went out of his to help with my husbands scooter that had a loose arm on it. So grateful that he got it fixed!! We had a wonderful time!!

The staff were all amazing. It’s been a long while since I have come across good customer service and every employee there had it! I hope the management team knows what a great crew they have. 😁 the only things to improve - the pool definitely needed to be cleaned and serviced. The sides were dirty and the water was cloudy. It didn’t stop us from swimming. Also!! Tip for anyone booking through Expedia - get the valet parking for the extra $20 a day. If not, you will spend either spend $45 at the desk or $35 in the public parking outside the building. I wish it was clearer they didn’t have free parking available. (Kind of lame if you ask me).

both the pool and the gym were closed for construction. that wasn't clarified beforehand and a big reason I booked this hotel was for the gym and pool amenities. should have been given a discount for that without me asking. additionally, the parking situation was not made clear beforehand, which is frankly ridiculous and an unpleasant surprise to arrive at this hotel which is already expensive for what it is, and then be forced to pay an extra 50$ per night for a valeted car because the parking around the hotel is so scarce and difficult to navigate with all the weird laws. finally, the hotel room itself was just fine. the shower worked a bit weird, and there was almost no noise barrier. Friday and saturday night i was kept up by many unpleasant noises in the hallway, including a woman sobbing uncontrollably and fighting with her boyfriend. it felt like they were almost in the room with me.

This was my first disappointing stay at an IHG property. The check-in was slow, the internet was unavailable, the tv didnt work properly, the gym was unavailable, the pool was unavailable, the noise from outside made sleeping less than restful, immediately outside apeears to be used by the homeless to sleep. I will not be stayingcat this lication ever again.

We had to change rooms immediately do to cleanliness . The second room was an improvement. We only stayed for one night . On the up side it is walking distance to many places and river street which was a plus. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Velvet was amazing.

My hotel room was remarkably clean, and the front desk staff provided outstanding service, being both helpful and very friendly, especially considering English is my second language. Guests can choose to park their vehicles on the street or pay $45 per day for hotel parking. The hotel's location is highly convenient, within walking distance to multiple restaurants, bars, and shopping centers. I highly recommend this exceptional hotel, which is also just a 25-minute Uber ride from Tybee Island.

Stayed 4 nights and electricity went out in my room on night 4, had to change rooms with no help whatsoever. I even had to go and pick up the new key myself. My room was cleaned on night 3 only. Night 1 and 2 were only half cleaned, bed not made and trash left. Upon check in, Carpet was not vaccumed and restroom floor was dirty.

Will never book this hotel again. We were on the fifth floor. The hallways were hot and muggy and smelled. When going to shower the water came out brown and black streaked. (As pictured below). When I called the front desk they offered no help and said no one would be able to assist the problem till the next day. I had to ask for a room change. Later we needed extra towels for an infant and was told we would she to come down to get them as again, there was no help.

Staff are friendly and location is convenient for shopping and walking to areas of interest. It is best to include breakfast in your booking vs paying separately since it is standard, continental breakfast offerings and is overpriced if paying separately. If you have a car, only options for parking are valet or street/meter. Also keep in mind that your view may be on same level as pool with guests sitting right outside your window. Unfortunately the room was really subpar with dead bugs in bathroom lights, rusted and broken toilet paper holder, and curtain that does not fit shower so water gets all over floor. The largest problem was the room not being cleaned for 2 consecutive days (we only stayed 3 nights so this was essentially our entire stay). The first day was skipped because they "had a lot of checkouts" and those rooms needed to be cleaned. We had to retrieve fresh towels, etc. from front desk. The second day, housekeeping made the bed and left few bathroom linens for all guests but didn't clean anything, empty trash, or replenish any cups/coffee station supplies. The manager was informed and housekeeping brought linens but still never cleaned or replenished supplies. Overall, though staff are nice and location is convenient, the actual room cleanliness is questionable and guests need to consider what is more important to them and how much they want to try to get needs met, knowing that things still may not be remedied.

Typically I chalk negative reviews up to unrealistic expectations, but I hate to say the concerns I read about this property were sadly spot on. The room had a very unpleasant urine odor, soap scum and hair in the shower, excessive dust on furniture, and unswept carpet areas. We requested towels at 5p after not receiving any from housekeeping for the 2 days we had been there, and had to request again the next morning at 10a when they still hadn’t arrived. Typically we stay at Marriott properties, I figured we’d save some money this time with this IHG property. If we came back to Savannah, I’d pay a little extra for the close proximity Hilton Garden Inn or Marriott properties in the neighborhood.

Our room felt like a closet. I paid for the breakfast, and it was not worth the money. Prefer a buffet. at least I could get my money's worth of something I wanted to eat. Staff was nice. Parking is ridiculous for all the hotels in the area. There was work done on our floor and the maintenance left all their debris on the rug. I would have rather paid the extra hundred and stayed at the Hilton. Usually a fan of Holiday Inn. Maybe the Express was more of what I am used to from them. Their location was good for walking to places. I did like that their was a Keurig in our room.

friendly service across the hotel. Room was nice, a little musty to start off with, but once we got in there and turned on the AC it cleared right up. was quiet too. We did not try the breakfast or room service, but it looked busy in the morning with lots of people having breakfast. great location and valet service was very helpful. great overall and would be happy to stay again for our next visit.

Great Service, Disappointing Room My recent stay had both high and low points. I was immediately impressed by the hotel staff, who were exceptionally friendly and always ready to help. The lobby was also immaculate, creating a welcoming first impression. Unfortunately, the room itself was a letdown. There was a very strong mildew odor and a damp feeling, which was far from pleasant. The air conditioner struggled to cool the room, never getting below 76°, making it difficult to sleep comfortably. To top it off, the beds were uncomfortably firm. Overall, while the service and cleanliness of the public areas were commendable, the condition of the room significantly detracted from the experience and resulted in me leaving a day early because I could not stand to be in the room. Location was great for nightlife and touristy things. Walls are very thin though, bring ear plugs or white noise, when doors close it shakes the wall. Staff was excellent, no idea about the pool…it was closed. Overall, experience matched the price and it was a an average place to stay- the staff and location made it better though :)

Our room which had a king sized bed was small but comfortable for two. The staff were all very nice and accommodating. We paid extra for the breakfast buffet which included fresh fruit, hot items such as scrambled eggs, bacon, oatmeal and French toast. There were also fruit juices and coffee/tea and cold cereals. There were no gluten free (GF) muffins, bagels/bread/crackers. Definitely need to replenish supplies before patrons have to wait for them and include GF items.
Our room which had a king sized bed was small but comfortable for two. The staff were all very nice and accommodating. The walls are not sound proof because we heard other guests knocking hard on the door & partying in their room. The bathrooms could be updated to include vent/fans. Also the drapes in the room could be updated to include real blackouts that extend across the entire window area.

We should have asked for a room on the back side. Out room was right above the main overhang and tree you see in the image. Beware! Noise here late at night was insane- and you would not know it from the day time. Starting at 10pm there were extremely loud cars and motorcycles reving right in front of the window. Pumping bass. Party buses parked under our window, with college kids twerking to super loud music, it was an outdoor party on the sidewalk. In addition, we realized after the first night that we were put in a handicapped room, which meant no full length, mirror, and no sink outside the bathroom. Also be aware that "valet parking" which you will be pressured to do, is $45 means they are just going to park it on the street next to the hotel- something you can likely do yourself. I did, and the valet staff made comments every time I left the hotel. There is no secure parking, Im not paying $45 plus tip for that. It was a fun trip, but the hotel def left something to be desired.

The sound proofing for rooms was so terrible. We found out when we were up until 2 AM with another family’s screaming toddler, then we heard almost all of their conversations the next morning as they did their best to recuperate from a tough night. Very noisy neighborhood also.

This hotel was a full service hotel. There was a restaurant, bar, happy hour from 5 to 7. Room was cleaned every day and we had valet parking. The staff was wonderful and saw to our every need. It had all the charm of yesteryear, even though it is not that old. Special kudos to the manager who went out of his to help with my husbands scooter that had a loose arm on it. So grateful that he got it fixed!! We had a wonderful time!!

We waited for over 2 and a half hours for our room to be ready with zero explanation as to what was taking so long and why the room wasn’t ready at the 4pm checkin time. MANY guests were forced to wait 1-2 hours after check-in time to be assigned a room. The front desk staff was rude about the situation and VERY unprofessional. The front desk manager had a “holier-than-thou” attitude toward anyone that tried to ask a question.

Experience was great hotel was great, small minor hiccup but ginger the manager was amazing and handled it on her day off she was prompt and exceeded expectations by 100% with great customer service! Great staff and hotel. Location was just awful. Sorry. Never leave bad reviews but had to share this. Residents in neighborhood a half block away smoking crack right beside my car. Glad I brought my gun. Nothing wrong with hotel itself except the unsafe feeling when I pulled onto the property. Very limited free parking out front and $40 to valet park. Totally worth paying for the safety of you and your vehicle. Lovely staff but damn, too close to the possibility of bad encounters. Stay elsewhere. Sorry Holiday Inn but you need to sell this one to a Vape shop.

I have stayed in IHG Hotels before and they were very nice. This hotel is not up to Par. Carpets were old and dirty. The restaurant was closed for breakfast and dinner. I was highly disappointed with the Holiday Inn, I have stayed at numerous Holiday Inns over the years for work and have often sought them out. However, I was highly disappointed with the Holiday Inn Historic District. If it was just one thing, I could overlook it, however it was quite a few things. First off, the property itself did not appear to be well cared for. There were scuff marks all over the walls down hallways and in rooms and on various floors as well. The elevator had a bad smell to it and was way pass its inspection date by more than 2 months. The water had a sulfur type smell to it, which I was told is common for Savannah (so I can overlook that - if that is the case. In room room, there was damage to the wall and stains on the carpet. The bed also appeared to be coming off its frame. In the bar area on the main level, a window was broken - and left in a scattered/ spider type pattern. Thankfully it wasn’t on the ground. In addition to the poorly cared for property, I was not impressed with the food staff other than Troy the even bartender. They charged $15.95 for breakfast per person and all you got was a choice of one egg and a side and a beverage. I am sorry, but I can get more at Denny for about the same price. The worst part was they never had the yogurt parfait in the 4 days we had breakfast there. I wouldn’t have eaten breakfast all 4 days if I hadn’t already prepaid. Sadly the staff for breakfast was so very slow - I’d say more but I guess I am limited

The check-in lady was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was HORRIBLE. We included it with our package when booking, however, would have cancelled if at all possible. Food was beyond cold, tasted absolutely terrible and atmosphere in dining room was awful.

Enjoyed my stay, I was able to do an early afternoon check in which I loved. They don’t actually offer room service like the page says which was disappointing because that’s a reason why I booked this hotel. I called and tried to order food but was told they don’t do room service so just be aware of that. There was some random trash pieces I found throughout the room after arriving like a scrap of paper on the floor and a bottle cap in the bathroom. Also, there was a mound of dust on top of the stack of complimentary coffee cups in my room but I’m assuming no one had used the room in the while so not the end of the world. Ayana the breakfast attendant was AMAZING and just the nicest person ever so I hope she is recognized for that. Overall not a bad stay, I’d stay again if I had to with no complaints but would prefer somewhere with room service lol
