Stayed 1 night

The website shows connecting rooms available. We reserved 2 rooms for my son's birthday. I requested connecting rooms. Upon arrival I asked if they were connecting rooms. Staff advised me that they do not have connecting rooms in their facility but she booked us two rooms together. I explained that we had 4 12 year old boys for a birthday party so I needed connecting rooms. She advised me they do not have that on their property. I explained that it was listed on their website. She was unsure why it was listed when they do not haveany rooms with doors between them at this property. I advised her we could not stay then bc 4 boys could not stay in the room together alone. She understood. She was not able to assist me with any refund and the manager was out of town for the weekend. I had already paid. We went to the hotel room while we found another place to stay. We left less than 30 minutes later. Fast forward to today. The manager called and said he does not offer any refunds. I stated that it was false advertisement to state connecting rooms available if they are not available in the building. He informed me that The connecting rooms that are in the building are being used for storage. He refused to offer any assistance. I didn't even mention that the building was rundown, and the entire floor smelled like weed. Very unprofessional manager. Will never recommend to anyone.

Stayed 2 nights

I was pleasantly surprised at this hotel. It has been many years since I've stayed in Cedar Rapids (since my college days 30+ years ago) and I was hesitant to stay just because I know the age of the hotel, however it was very nice and extremely clean! The front desk clerk was quick to check me in and got me into my room right away. The rooms were fresh and clean. The bathroom was clean and the shower had good water pressure. The bed was very comfortable and I slept great! I did not partake in breakfast during my stay, however the breakfast area was clean. The morning that I left, a housekeeper met me at the elevator as I was getting off. She smiled big and told me to have a really nice day, which was very nice. Also, when leaving, an employee was busy in the front entryway of the hotel vacuuming and keeping the area clean. It was quiet during my stay. I didn't hear anything from any neighbors, although I was on the end of the hall so that also helped. The only downside I experienced was a distinct smell of marijuana as I walked down the hallway to my room. I would stay here again because the room and property were impeccably clean, the location was great for what I needed, and it was very easy to get everywhere I needed to be from the hotel.

The property is very clean and very well kept, but older and worn. Beds and Pillows! were very comfortable, and there was plenty of hot water in the bathtub/shower (But the tub was old and worn, slippery, with no handholds so I didn't feel very safe taking my shower). The breakfast was good. The staff were very helpful in responding to our requests.

It would be nice if you had a less sugary protien for the breakfast. The sign over the washer and dryer said front desk sold dryer sheets which they dont. I would like to see the afternoon front desk attendant a little more available. And papertowels in the room would be nice. Otherwise nice stay.
