The price was right, which keeps the review rating right, but the hotel is under various sorts of construction. It would have been nice if i was notified by the hotel when i booked the stay. It may had informed my decision to find an alternative property. Areas under construction include the lobby main elevator and pool side cabanas. It ended up being very loud on Thursday & Friday poolside.

I've stayed here 3-4 previous times. Great location, nice bar. This time the experience was not good on 3+ accounts: The gym was closed and under renovation. They do have a reciprocal use of a gym about 10m walk, unfortunately it was in the high 40's and super windy. There is no coffee machine in the room. They did offer to bring one, the lobby coffee is a nice touch but not available until 7am. They were replacing hallway carpet, which required to walk around the property outside and back into the lobby. Finally, they have no heat. Not normally required in Miami, but it was in the 40's and 50's. Turning on the heat actually lowered the room temperature. Gonna take a break on this place for a while.

lol didn’t realize this place was going to be an active construction site during our stay. Floors covered in plastic with dust and debris everywhere. Our shower reeked of rotten eggs and after alerting the staff, nothing changed. The water was turned off sporadically throughout our stay. Room keys didn’t work for some of our group. There was a terrible smell throughout the hotel. Do not stay here if you’re expecting to get your money’s worth. The staff were great, along with the pool and the location.

Great location in the heart of Sobe. Everything is walkable. Construction was ongoing but didn’t alter our plans. Nearby pool access. Social club was great for brunch. Will return to this property.

The property did not meet the level of cleanliness expected based on the listing. One of the main reasons for choosing the hotel was the pool, but the pool was closed to all guests after 4pm on a Saturday, there was no prior notice at the time of booking nor when I checked in. Lastly, we had reserved a poolside cabana and there was inadequate staffing. We had a minimum spend, there was not enough staff to accommodate the needs at the pool and we were completely neglected. Also, the food service was cut even shorter than the pool, no food past 2pm. Everything I chose the hotel for was completely the opposite of what I received.

Good personnel, helpful and responsive. -We experienced towels shortage at the ocean beach for a few days. -The area around pool is badly organized. There is limited number of chairs at the pool because management gave most space to cabanas, which they rent for 200-250-300 dollars. Many these cabanas stay empty, but chairs at the pool in short supply. -the music at the pool was very loud to my taste

I liked this Kimpton. It was my first time. Pretty pool area and very close to the beach. The food at the beach side restaurant at the hotel Was good too. Only complaint was that the elevator close to our room was down the whole stay.

This property is nothing like the promotional pictures. The grounds are in serious need for and upgrade. The landscaping is terrible. Looks like a deserted forest. Pool is dirty (water is literally yellow/green). Rooms are not cleaned (when we checked-in, we found all kinds of hair on our towels!!!). There is construction next door so be prepared for noise that extends all the way to the beach. When we submitted “unhappy” to a survey that was promoted on our room tv, someone from the staff called us at 10:30pm to ask “if we’re alright!” Would definitely not recommend!

From the outside, the property looks good. But once your inside, the first thing that hits you are the lights, which are dingy and barely light the foyer & it smells like urine. The rooms: they are too small and, well, they have carpet in them, so the rooms are smelly & stuffy, the a/c cannot compete with it because God knows whats still lingering in them, i.e., bodily fluids, etc. The bathroom is way to small & not functional. Upon check-in they claim they give "complimentary coffee & tea, and fruits" in the morning and at dinnertime they give "complimentary wine and appetizers". But at dinnertime there was no appetizers and when I checked out they charged me "resort fees" which was $43/day when I asked what that entailed, they told me it included the "complimentary" coffee & tea & wine, peehaps their not aware of what "complimentary " means... Save your money and time, book another hotel.

This is not a family property. The rooms are very small, the elevator is smaller. The bathrooms are falling apart, and dirty. You can hear everything through the walls even the outside traffic. The pool was dirty, the water temp was HOT, never a cool off. The pools temperature never changed besides being hot and dirty. You’ve great common areas. Great pool view, beautiful hotel lobby. The decor, amenities and appearances sold this hotel to me. Keep in mind their resort fee plus a $600 deposit for each room.

We had possibly the worse room in the hotel. The bathroom had numerous hairs in it, a bath with rust and a shower screen with mould. The furniture was chipped & cracked and had seen much better days. Staff ambivalent, best were the valet parking team. With so many hotel choices available this one really needs to up its game. It’s part of a huge chain and desperately requires refurbishing. Interestingly we were not asked at check out whether we enjoyed our stay, it’s almost as if they knew how shockingly bad the room was.

Because I booked with Expedia, they wouldn’t allow us to do late check-out. Which, I get policy, but we are staying for one night and needed an extra hour. Super inconvenient and had I known I would’ve chosen to book thru their website. When we got to room the carpet in the room was wet. Like soaking. Obviously it had been cleaned but who wants to walk on squishy carpet. Our socks were wet and we had to put towels down to walk ourselves right down to the front desk. We were given a room on the floor below and the same thing was happening there. But they were more damp than soaking and we are exhausted. $150 in room service later…this will be the last time the Surfcomber gets me for $500 a night. Such a shame. This place was once so great. The Social Club is fabulous. The staff and servers are great. Juan at the front desk is a gem. Stay somewhere else…lots of other options in Miami.

The hotel is cute. The food is good. The service is impeccable. It’s a Kimpton property - I expect nothing less. The facility itself, however…. Dated and in need of some TLC. Our first room was so loud and so bright as it’s next to all of the equipment and its security lights - horrible nights sleep and the mattress felt like a cot and the room temp would not even out - sweated all night. Our second room was bright lights again outside, next to the kitchen, loud, music incredibly loud, room temp was either hot or cold - nothing in between - towels thin as tissue paper, outlets in bath didn’t work. In departing this morning - the valet guy was at his stand, solo, just standing there. My luggage fell over and he just stood there - inches from me - and didn’t offer to help. Didn’t ask if we needed a taxi, Uber - nothing. We won’t be back, needless to say. This is not a typical Kimpton property.

Friendly staff , really welcoming , recently updated rooms, large pool area , a great location , just off Miami Beach itself and a short stroll to the Art Deco area of Ocean Drive. I’d definitely stay again if I was in the area

Rooms for the double beds are really small and have horrible views. The location is really close to everything and very walkable. The staff was really nice. We got breakfast included which was worth it and really good. The beach staff was really nice but the actual beach was public and dirty.

The windows opened only 2 inches, bad air circulation. No shower pressure, swimming pool was ~3 foot too low to swim…construction on our floor, we were not warned , had to move to a lower floor which we did not want. The restaurant was slow, forgot our food, overcooked the steak ( re-did it which caused more waiting, not enjoyable…not a smooth stay this time, it used to be our favorite hotel but we’ve got cold feet now. Everybody was very kind but it was not a relaxing stay. Location and music playlist are great.

We had some issues. Air conditioning struggled to go below 73-74 degrees. “Engineer” came and said nothing was wrong. We requested another room and had a much better experience with the AC, getting down to 66 degrees. Ice machine was not working when we arrived. Pillows were terrible in first room but better in second room. An event was held at the pool area from 6:30- Midnight with concert level music until midnight then people chatting for hours after in the courtyard. Overall not a restful or relaxing experience as advertised on the website. Will not return again. Read the other reviews. Many others had the same issues.

Staff isnt very helpful, probably due to uninspiring workcondition. But nevertheless not living up to the picture they are trying to Sell. There also was a wrong firealarm for at least 4 times in a row in the middle of the Night - which can Happen, of course- but no attempt at apologizing or offering a Little something to make up for the inconvenience. One day roomservice didnt Show up at all. These are all things that i wouldnt bother at some cheap Place- but this Place is pretending to be high class, is pricing highclass and simply doesnt deliver high class. It was disappointing.

The room was lovely and the hotel had some good ideas such a "social hour" for free drinks, morning coffee and water stations throughout the hotel. The restaurant staff in the social lounge were accommodating and lovely. Reception staff are very poor ! Unfriendly. Unable to explain fees when asked about them. We were charged £72 by accident (someone went for dinner in the restaurant and charged it to our room) and reception refused to refund the money because it would take "up to 5 working days to investigate" however we spoke directly to the restaurant manager who sorted it within 5 minutes and apologised to us despite it not being her fault. We received no apology or explanation or help from reception. We added breakfast on which was strange, you get a 25 dollar breakfast voucher but are charged anything over this amount plus tax and service charge on the full bill despite having a voucher ! The bagel was 25 dollars, I used my voucher but was charged 6% tax and then 20% service which made it more than a bagel from Einstein Bagels which is just bizarre as its not really cheaper than going out! However restaurant staff deserve the tip considering how lovely they are, the waiter even made sure to tell us service was on and explain the charges without us asking. Hotel is due to close for a revamp which is needed. Pool was filthy, someone had literally written on the dirt on the wall "clean me"! The pool shower and lift were also broken. Advised to wash the sand off in the pool!

Can honestly say this hotel is one of the best hotels on the South Beach Strip. It is close to everything and safe as well. Maxena was helpful from the beginning of our stay until the end. She helped to check us in early and held our bags for us while we explored the city. Thanks for treating my family like it was yours, your hospitality and friendliness did not go unnoticed! Don't miss out on the afternoon hors d'oevres and wine/local beer sampling either. The pool was clean and if you forget your sun lotion they have a complimentary Sun Bum lotion station at the pool area. Beach is steps away from the pool. Will be staying at the Kimpton Surfcomber on our next stay in Miami! Also a great hotel to stay at if you are embarking on a cruise (as we had). Thank you to Maxena and the rest of the staff for their smiles and service!

Excellent boutique hotel right in the middle of everything! Room was very clean. Front Desk staff very attentive and helpful. Restaurant has a great breakfast. Hotel has nice little touches like complimentary water and coffee stations. Even saw a doggie check in area as they are pet friendly!

The location and cleanliness were not the problem with this property. The issues, on two occasions was communication between the employees. I called the front desk and requested two towels. 30 minutes later I called a second time and still did not ever get the towels. It took a third call and an hour later. Issue number 2: I should have received a text message from the valet, which I never received. Instead I called the front desk to get my car, and they reminded me that it would take 20 minutes to get my vehicle and they would contact the valet. I remember the valet telling me that when we arrived so expected as much. We went down 20 minutes later to pick up our car and the valet told me he did not receive my request. I shared with him the contents of the conversation I had with the front desk. The valet was not interested in what I shared with him and proceeded to tell me it’s going to take 20 more minutes to get my car. Poor service is one thing and that will happen on occasions, it has before and what makes the difference is how the employee reacts and try’s to correct the problem to the best of their ability. The staff here at this property have zero emotional intelligence and did not represent their brand very well. But then again, it starts with management.

The hotel is incredible from the pool to the beach access. Everything is clean and well cared for. But the staff is really what sets the hotel apart. We were immediately greeted by Alex who went above and beyond to help us with valet to Caroline at check in who was so incredibly welcoming! They both took time with our family and really made our time there so special. The pool staff also blew us away. Our twins were celebrating their birthday and our waitress at the pool & executive chef came to us with a huge birthday surprise! We are frequent visitors to the area and without a doubt The Surfcomber will be our only go to hotel!

Our stay at the Surfcomber Hotel in Miami was made unforgettable thanks to Juan at the front desk. From the moment we arrived, he went above and beyond to ensure our check-in experience was smooth and welcoming. We had no idea it was Ultra Weekend, and the city was absolutely packed, but Juan worked his magic and was able to accommodate an early check-in for us. Not only that, but he also provided us with waters and made sure we felt truly taken care of. His professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail rival even the service we’ve experienced at high-end hotels like the Ritz-Carlton. Juan, you set the bar incredibly high! We sincerely hope your outstanding service gets the recognition it deserves. Thank you for making our stay exceptional we will definitely be back!

I liked the close proximity to all the action and beach. I like the room and the amenities including coffee in the lobby. I don’t like that extra resort fee. It is too much. I May consider staying elsewhere next time.

Location of this hotel is great. A block from Lincoln rd shopping with restaurant options just across the street. A smaller hotel but has a really nice vibe. Room cleaned daily without request. Daily activities and ocean steps away. Stayed here in May with an 8 year old and now July with just adults.

The hotel has a beautiful lobby and restaurant and pool area. The rooms are small and outdated but not terrible. As a family I might not stay here because there are nicer, roomier places. But for this girls trip it was great. Location is perfect, close to plenty of restaurants and beachfront. It was at 17th and Collins so just a few blocks north of a busier area so it was nice to be cover but not on top of the noisier area.

We went to Miami to celebrate my daughter's HS graduation. The hotel was perfect! The decor, pool area w/live DJ, waiter staff, and beach a few feet away made us feel like we were on a resort in the carribean islands! Not to mention the plethora of restaurants & shops i the area. We decided against renting a car & never needed to rent a cab. Everything was walking distance away. But if you do venture out the trolleys, buses & cabs are right there.

Beautiful resort! We loved our stay at this hotel. The pool was lovely and warm. Great for swimming. The staff was so nice and accommodating. The food at the restaurants was delicious, drinks were great, overall it was an amazing experience. If I had to complain about one thing it would be the housekeeping. We had plenty of time out of our room when they could have come to clean and did not. We had to request that they come each time for them to come take out trash, vacuum sand, give us fresh towels, etc. On the last day/night we were there they did not clean our room at all. I feel like they need to do better in this area. When we did have our room cleaned they did a good job, but I shouldn't have to ask in order for it to get done.

Good hotel. The food at the Pool Bar (High Tide) was really good, surprisingly. The room was clean, though I did notice a few small stains on the carpet. Also, when we asked for sheets for the pull-out sofa bed, one of the sheets came with rips. Also, the hotel gym is extremely small. For the size of the hotel, one would think that they'd have a bigger gym. Overall a solid and good hotel. A couple of gripes here and there, but good experience overall.

The manager at the restaurant (male) in the evening was very unpleasant!! Most of the servers were Wonderful especially ALEX!! Staff at front desk was good! The bar area outside closed early! Wine hour was good but there were very little choices And not always vegan /vegetarian food options available. Bathroom very small!

Couple of things disappointed me. The sheets were stained and I had to call service to have them changed, the towels were dingy and the shower water was very light. It took me three times longer to shower because there was no water pressure. However, I loved the hotel location, the restaurant food was delicious and the staff was ver polite and accommodating.

The Surfcomber is a great boutique hotel that offers a fantastic location with a cozy vibe. The hotel Staff is friendly and accommodating. The cocktails and food at High Tide and the Social Club are terrific. My only complaint is that the vanity in the standard room bath is very small. All in all, I will be returning to the Surfcomber soon!

Dropped in for breakfast, ended up changing hotels to stay here. On the beach, has a great beach-club style pool, and fantastic staff. Really turned our trip around into a true vacation. Would absolutely come back.
