Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach - All Inclusive

I stayed here with my family for 4 nights and we all really enjoyed our stay. I’ve been to many resorts in Jamaica and this one stands out! The Christmas decorations were so festive. The staff were great, all so nice and welcoming. As for the food options, they had everything that your eyes and heart can desire. The entertainment team, especially for Michael Jackson night and poolside was fantastic! The pool and beach were awesome, always available seating and close to food/bars which was a plus. We are planning on doing a huge family trip here next year as this resort has it all-ice cream bar, hibachi, jerk hut, ton of food/bars-perfect for all ages!

There needs to be chlorine utilized in the pool.

This property was beautiful, clean, and full of amazing staff. The staff go above and beyond for the guests. I would recommend arranging transportation ahead of time. I felt safe the entire time. The food was amazing, so many food options. I am A VERY picky eater and I found myself eating more than usual. The Japanese dining was delicious- highly recommend. You have to book the restaurants upon arrival to the hotel. Entertainment staff was amazing. Music was good. Beach volleyball, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking available for free.

Love the Pool area at the Rose Hall Beach. Morning Yoga class on the beach needs to be moved to a better place. Suggest moving it to one of many beautiful decks overlooking the sea.

Only two pools, no cabanas, club is boring. Overall the experience was ok for a big hotel

Dining was awesome due to freshness, variety and accessibility. It was like and ever open buffet that included ackee & saltfish and jerk chicken. Thumbs up to the food & beverage staff. The decor was enchanting, and there was easy access to the beach and infinity pools. My room was clean, big and had a fabulous view of the ocean. The property seemed to have everything imaginable - from popcorn to champaign. I would recommend more onsite water activities - I could not get a boat for myself outside of 2 scheduled daily trips. Front desk (check-in) was great but the 'Spa girls' need to go - I don't think they serve a purpose. Just place a phone kiosk or a big QR code because these girls are distracted and unprofessional. I was not sure why there were so many girls there and none seemed to provide professional service.

My husband and I just returned from a 4 night stay at the Waves Rose Hall and we had an absolutely amazing time. This resort truly lives up to its reputation as one of the top choices for families/couples looking for a relaxing and hassle free vacation. The beach is beautiful, with soft, white sand and a great stretch for walking. The pool complex is the real star, a massive, free-form pool with a swim-up bar as well as an activity pool where they keep multiple different activities like pool volleyball. Overall, the food was very very good for an all-inclusive. The buffet was consistently solid with a great variety to select from. The swim-up bar and lobby bar served strong, delicious drinks, and the bartenders were always friendly. The room was quite spacious, clean, and well-maintained. The mini-bar was restocked daily. The entire resort is impeccably clean.

The hotel was but didn’t offer room service or late night snacks. And only a few machines in casino to table games

The facilities, staff in all areas, restaurants, buffets, daily activities, pool area, on-site gym & entertainment were phenomenal. The beach area had plenty of palapa and tree shade. The ocean was calm with the first 12 ft of water very clear, then there was lots of coral/seagrass beyond that. Nice beach to walk on but the stretch is only as long as the 3 adjacent Iberostar resorts. The properties abutting the resort along the beachfront are run down and rightfully barricaded with chain link and guards for safety. So the resort felt very safe but not beyond the fences. The vendors selling wares from their floating kayaks were friendly & fine in the morning but created a somewhat hostile vibe in the late afternoon … daily ritual was for them to try to make friends with resort new arrivals so they could summon them as “my friend” later on. In the afternoon, slowly inch up from the water onto the beach and they would point & yell to guests that they had previously spoken with saying “my friend” “come here” and they would persistently try to sell wares & drugs to guests, or they would ask guest to sneak them food or drinks from the all-inclusive fare. Witnessed 2 skirmishes (1 shoving incident between vendor & guard, 1 yelling incident between vendor & resort guest). Other than the afternoon uncomfortable vibe that forced us off the beach each day much earlier than we would usually stay (off by 2:30/3:00 instead of by sunset), everything else about the resort was fantastic.

The information about what is offered at the property was not clear. The service was not good because the staff didn't know where to get lunch for the two hours that it was offered at the restaurant. Everyone was instructing people to go to the pool bar for lunch. I saw two roaches while eating in two restaurants. There was no soap in the shower soap dispenser for three days. Even though I had the room cleaned every day. The two main elevators hadtwoelevatorseach, one didn't work at all. And the other one had one that worked.

The staff was great 10/10 all around. They were pleasant and friendly. The room 2/10. The bathroom sink would not drain. We Called and they sent maintenance, it worked for that day and then back the not draining the next day. The shower was the same but it slowly drained- kinda grossed me out. One of the buttons to flush the toilet kept falling out every time we flushed the toilet. The room needs to be upgraded with working parts. The fridge also didn’t keep the drinks cold, only cool. Overall I was very annoyed with the room. The staff at check in, in the restaurants and bars were very pleasant and approachable. I think we would stay here again but the rooms need to be upgraded.

Everything was very nice and quiet. Housekeeping did a great job with the room. The food at the resort was perfect

They prioritized quantity over quality on food.. the buffet food really isn’t all that. Took them like two days to clean trash that was in the bathrooms and the elevators. Overall though for the price we paid I do think we got our moneys worth.

The staff were all great, at all times they were nothing but nice and helpful, the bartenders kept the drinks strong at all times! The resort itself could use some work. The pictures that are online are obviously from when the resort was first opened, as it does not look like that anymore. There was mold around the shower heads, the toilets would run all night if not flushed properly, the balcony posts were cracked, the lighting in the rooms was terrible, the TV did not have a way to access streaming services, and the bedside table was was chipped away with the lining peel away. As I stated in the beginning the staff members nice and friendly at all times, no matter what but the resort itself does need work. The night club was very fun, but we did have to walk to resorts over to the sister property, the nightclub stays open until 2 or 3am but the gold carts to drive over to the sister resort stop running at 11:00pm. Because of the work that needs to be done this is not a place that I would stay at again or recommend to friends or family to stay at.

Don’t waste your money! This resort is awful. The food is nasty, the pool is small, there is no 24hr snack service and they have roaches. If you want to have a good time while in Jamaica stay at any RIU Hotels.

The property overall was ok. Not very clean. Upon arrival to the front desk they said “we can’t help you with anything because you booked with Expedia”. I asked a basic question about our room and wasn't even able to ask the question because I was cut off. We made the best of the trip but I won’t be going back. I haven’t experienced this with any other resort or island and book everything through Expedia.

The employess are super nice and well trained . The problem is the open air concept of the hotel to save on ac dollars. It is hot hot and muggy inn jamaica and they only have AC in the lobby and in your room and you have to call the front desk and have them release the controls to you to lower the seat temperature in your room The dive center, super well qualified, super well trained, and very nice also didn’t like the fact that I paid extra to have an upgraded room and one night they had a show that blasted into our room till 11 o’clock at night. They should have a separate area away from the hotel rooms to have their loud show some people like peace and tranquility when they go to the Caribbean I honestly give the hotel a three star, but the staff being so nice and well trained up for me so four star rating

Beautiful property My room smelled like smoke and mildew. They need to upgrade their rooms decor. I realy didn't like they no longer have room service. That's really not good

Good location not too far from the airport. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the only thing I didn’t like was the toilet in the room.

The outside area is absolutely gorgeous with plenty of space and seating. The rooms however, seem old and are not the freshest. The toilet kept running and the room smelled like toilet water. Also my room was supposed to have one king and one full bed, but instead has two full beds. There must also be some sort of wash cloth shortage because we kept calling to get more sent to the room and they would never come (despite them saying someone would bring some shortly).

Property is very nice, beautiful beach, very clean water and close to the hotel there is a coral reef for snorkeling. But the hotel is old and the rooms are also old and you can feel the damp in the rooms, the air conditioning is ok, the food is good but not great

Vacationed with our 10 and 4 y.o. and found this resort to be perfect for our 5 day stay. Rooms were clean even if they could use a refresh and the beds were a bit hard. Food was pretty decent and checked all the boxes for kids. My 2 are little fishes so the pool was the main attraction but there seemed to be TONS for kids under 12. The game room was fun altho ai would suggest training the workers on how to manage the gaming systems for us "non-gamers". The staff was friendly and helpful and the location close enough to the airport so all in all the trip was a win!

Our Oceanview room was great . Staff was extremely helpful, friendly and polite. The evening entertainment was a lot of fun . The ice cream was awesome. One suggestion, the areas around the elevators and the hallways need more light We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Wonderful experience! Everyone was friendly and helpful! The food and drinks were great!

Hands down the most inhospitable staff I've ever encountered at a resort. They acted like you were supposed to know how everything worked and they never smiled. If you asked them a question they got irritated with you. The food servers acted like it was an imposition to bring you coffee. I've never in my life experienced such rude resort staff and I've been to dozens of resorts all over the world. I will never go back to this place. And the room cleaner never replenished coffee or towels nor clean the bathroom. Not sure why they even came in the room. The food was decent but it was the same thing every day. No variety like at other resorts. This Iberostar will never see my money again. I say, beware, and find another place to stay. BTW, my friend on the trip fell because of a roof leaking on the stone floor, and broke her knee. They wouldn't send help unless she agreed to pay $40. Luckily they at least called an ambulance but if you are in need of serious medial attention while on property they nurse will not come unless you pay them.

The staff is not friendly. We had some concerns / issues during our stay. I addressed them at the resort and they were ignored.

Poor customer service

The issues with this establishment started before I even arrived. They stated that their Japanese restaurant required a reservation ahead of time. I called to request early check-in and make the reservation, 3 different times, and no one answered. I called the main Iberostar number for me to be rerouted, only for someone to pick up and then hang up on me. I tried to email as well to request both of these things and no one got back to me. When we arrived, I mentioned all of these things to the front desk, they called the number to speak to someone about my issues and wouldn't you know it, no one answered. They apologized and made the reservation for me, but the reservation was placed under a random room, because again I did not have my room yet, since I tried to do it earlier and was unsuccessful. Mind you, I had already checked myself in on the app, but I was not given a room number or the ability to be able to make the reservation on the app, which honestly defeats the purpose of checking in before arrival. Once we checked in, the room was fine. The drinks and food were fine, but the staff were not very pleasant and the app was not very useful.

The grounds are well tended to. Staff goes above and beyond.

There are 3 Iberostar properties in a row in Jamaica. The Waves/Rose Hall is the least nice. When you check in, they press an upsell. They can give you a sea view room for several hundred dollars more and a “prestige package”. That gets you a private cabana on the beach and not much else. When we checked in, no one explained how to get around the property. There is a lounge if you pay for the upgrade but it is next door at another property. Personally, I was disappointed. Our room had cracked tiles, the bed was not great, the sliding door locks you out on the balcony if you close it all the way. The shower did not work properly. The fridge has a couple of beers in it and some soda. The staff was generally unfriendly and appeared to be annoyed most of the time. They also expect tips and if you don’t tip they are more annoyed and if you do tip it still doesn’t get you better service. This property is also currently under construction and there were construction messes all over the place. There is no steakhouse restaurant as advertised. The night we went to the Japanese restaurant the fire alarm kept going off. The staff said they couldn’t shut it off. It was very crowded and incredibly loud in there. There is also a lot of smoking and partying going on during the day at the pool and beach. The beach is crowded. If you like to swim, bring your water shoes because the bottom is mostly covered with sea grass. This is just my opinion. Read other reviews too.

This was our first experience at an all inclusive resort so we had to get to get use to the fact that we didnt need to pay extra for food and beverages...EVER! We just laid by the pool and the beach most days there and a shout out to Khalil at the front desk for accomodating our stay by moving hotel rooms due to the noise factor on the first floor. My partner and I didnt like get hustled by the conceirge team to sale us the idea to pay them more money to extend our stay and or upsale our stay at the higher end suite next door! They were mean to us when we stated we didnt want to waste our time with a tour and upsale opportunity for 90 minutes(!) And that we were going to head to the beach to get back to our vacation. We made friends later with other tourists and we all complained about conceirge doing that to ALL OF US! Big turnoff. Dissest those sale practices with the conceirge a.s.a.p. or you will loose potential customers. Other than that, a great trip and we are considering coming back to Jamaica...just not sure at the same hotel.

The staff in all areas were wonderful. I would like if the hotel would come up with the solution towards guests who hold pool & beach lounge chairs. Check out what cruise ships are doing! I be back for sure next year.

Went for wedding, hotel is huge and beautiful, lots of activities, great for families with children. There are lots of food options. The drinks were tasty and strong. Had a view overlooking ocean. Room was nice. About 20 minutes from airport.

Clean comfortable room. Nice pool, lovely buildings. Friendly front desk staff & good housekeeping. Undergoing some room renovations so workers at it from 9 to 5 but the results worth it (ours was a recent update). Food was good but don’t expect five-star. Great location for our four day father son golf trip. Glad we rented a car (Budget) made getting to and from Golf courses easy but be prepared for aggressive driving on the A1.

Good location not too far from the airport. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the only thing I didn’t like was the toilet in the room.

Beautiful setting. No need to ever leave the resort. Staff were great fun, and if you want to avoid the entertainment teams, you can do so. Don’t bother with the Main St shopping coach. Not worth it. Avoid the sales pitch for membership - it’s a waste of a morning. Just embrace the incredible setting.

I have been to various "all inclusive" hotels in the past and this one, by far, had the best food! Alcoholic drinks also didn't taste watered down. The staff was helpful and most tours pick up right from the lobby. Only negative: there is a bed of sea grass across the bed of majority of the sea, with just small patches cleared out and sandy. However, there are no seaweeds, foul smells, or other negative effects to the sandy beach, outside of the water.

Review from family of 3, including a 23 month old, Feb. 2024 Airport: This airport has hundreds of flights landing and departing daily, be prepared to move quickly thru each process, deplaning, customs, baggage claim, exit etc. They know what they're doing. The airport at times feels too small for the quantity of visitors it has to process. The airport staff are great, this is definitely a tourist airport. Departure process is much faster than arrival, check-in and security in under 10min, with toddler and stroller. Transportation: We used JamaicaToursLtd. EXCELLENT service & price. The driver doubles as entertainment officer. Hotel: Location: 10/10, the Beach is 1 of 3 hotels on property, the other two being the Grand and Suites. WiFi: 10/10, both coverage and speed Staff: 10/10, above expectations Food: 10/10, above expectations Pool: 10/10, many pools to choose from, including water park pool for kids in the Suites. Room: 9/10, above expectations, size, bathroom, AC, furniture Beach: 8/10, typical Caribbean beach, the only downside are the mobile sales people which obstruct the otherwise perfect view Drinks: 8/10, Great

Cheaper resort, I was really worried about the food but it was good. Pros Friendly staff, 30 min drive to airport, food is good Cons Beds are hard as a rock, you get a towel card for the pool, you must turn in your card in order to get a towel, if you lose the card, you have to pay a fee, It is difficult to get dinner reservations at dinner time. We got 9pm reservations which mean we didnt eat our entree until after 10pm.

This is the lower end property of the Iberostar chain of three. If the food is similar at all three, I would spend my money elsewhere. We didn't have good jerk chicken once during our stay. Resort was functioning at limited capacity, which was nice as it wasn't crowded, but it was difficult to get a dining reservation before 9pm -- due to staff perhaps? Manager was very helpful in changing our room to accommodate our original two queen bed request. Beach was okay, but not as nice as other beaches in Jamaica. Entertainment was average. Tried to play tennis one day at 9:30am and workers were on break for 45 minutes so we couldn't access the courts. Club was dead the night we went. Spa was tired, but a welcome addition for an upcharge of $25. Drinks were good if you paid the upcharge for top shelf. I can't stress enough our disappointment in the food. If you are willing to pay to travel off the resort, there are wonderful restaurants around the area and on the Hip Strip in Montego Bay. We will return to Jamaica in the future, but not to this resort, unfortunately.

I did not like that top shelf liquor was an extra charge even though this is an all inclusive resort. The inside of the hotel as far as hallways and rooms need some updating and renovations. When it came time to make reservations for dinner, I was told that I’m only allowed 2 dinner reservations even though I was staying for 6 days. The food was good. The Italian restaurant was my favorite. The smokehouse was ok. Tonys jamaican buffet is walk in only but I’d advise you to get there early so you can actually get what you want to eat and not be subjected to only one option or nothing at all. I do not eat pork or beef and the fish was out of stock so I just had a drink and watched my man eat his oxtails. Once we arrived to our room there was a STRONG smell of mildew that punched us in the face. We kept the AC on high and kept the balcony door closed our entire stay but that didn’t help. The mini bar was sad, only two cans of Red Stripe and 4 cans of assorted sodas. No water or juice options. There is no hotel shuttle or transportation service so you’ll need a taxi if you want to travel off premises.

The Resort is 3 separate hotels so make sure you understand the one being booked. The beaches where we stayed had nice hibachi restaurant and the beach was right on the property not even having to walk far. The property had also a nice ice/cream parlor and for families a kids club that looked very organized. The food choice in the buffet was not changed often and the Jamaican dishes just were not very flavorful. I have eaten more spicier/ authentic Jamaican dishes in Queens NY! They need to change up the menu in the buffet.

Clean rooms staff meals were amazing!

The buffet for breakfast and dinner was excellent. The food was seasoned and good. The guys on the entertainment team was wonderful they kept the crowd on they feet full of fun. The young lady that sings in the bar area and the young lady that sang for reggae night was excellent. The gentleman that played the violin was also great. I really enjoyed my vacation. We also did a fly dress photo shoot and our team was great!!

Restaurant is limited. If the kids need to eat something after 10 pm it’s only a sport bar that has limited food with a bunch of people long wait and bad services. All the restaurant food is bad.
