The room we had was nice, comfortable, and adequate. The location is amazing as it is walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and shopping. The facility is in need of maintenance. It appears to be an old building that used to have a restaurant and pool area that were out of service. Many machines in the fitness area were also out of service with no amenities like a water station or a working TV.

Rooms were in ok shape but the common areas, hallways etc were in bad condition. No pool or bar. Pool room looks like a junkyard. Bad breakfast quality is offered in the morning. Better off getting food elsewhere.

I assume the hotel is under newer ownership. The pool was drained. It took about 30 minutes to check in as they only had one staff member. (She was fantastic even dealing with a very long line for chrck in) the rooms were clean enough, they were having issues with the elevators and informed people they could use the stairs.... its a 7 story hotel. It was cost effective.

We needed a third bed so we tried the sleeper sofa. It was terrible. Requested a rollout it was worse. The elevators were dysfunctional and we got stuck in one of them for 25 minutes. They said it was fixed and it broke the next day. Everything seems to be done at a minimum quality, including the breakfast that supposedly provided

Conveniently located to walk to shopping and beach. Parking was a nightmare at the hotel due to non guests parking there. The hotel was clean but very outdated. Our room was 2 kings that were in 2 separate rooms which was nice. Due to the location I would stay again.

Everything was very nice, the staff were polite and friendly. The sink in our bathroom was broken, but it still worked so didn't of set our stay. I would have liked to have used the work out room, but the treadmill was out of order. The room was very nice and clean.

Positives: - close to Silver Beach, easily within walking distance as well as the other shops and restaurants in the area. - we were able to check into our room earlier than 3 pm. - ice machine always had a surplus of ice, and thankful one (of the two in the hotel) was on our floor. Negatives: - pool was out of service and most definitely not going to be up and running anytime in the near future. - limited breakfast items, breakfast not as advertised - no waffles or waffle maker; when items ran out, had to get assistance to get refilled - no coffee on our third morning of stay - lobby bathrooms were disgusting; one toilet in the women's was out of order all 3 days of our stay; 'water' was on the floor in the men's - parking was overcrowded in hotel parking lot Overall, we had a great time in St. Joseph but will definitely not stay at Silver Beach Hotel again, nor would recommend.

Location is the best thing about this hotel as you can walk to downtown and the beach .. everything else was not good as far as upkeep and cleanliness and service .. pool was closed and workout equipment broken and breakfast was lousy .. the hotel has potential but is not run well

Location is perfect. Property is so dirty. Stains on chairs and carpet, what looked like blood on the light switch and part of the wall. Sliding glass door fell out back into the room when trying to slide it open, in minutes we got a call from maintenance to fix it but I hadn’t made a complaint so we thought that was odd. Poorly remodeled. Wish I had looked into the reviews before spontaneously booking because of the hotels location.

The hotel is completely neglected. The awful smell when you walk in says it all about how dirty the place is. Our room was dirty (the carpet was disgusting), and the bathroom wasn’t any better. The air conditioning didn’t work. Fortunately, the sheets and towels were clean. The only positive points: the staff was so incredibly sweet that we didn’t even dare to complain, and the location was perfect—right between downtown St. Joseph and the beach.

Great location, but disgustingly filthy hotel. Everything felt grimy, including the breakfast area and the rooms. My socks were completely black on the bottoms after waking around my room just a few times. The area around the hotel is fantastic and it is walkable to the beach and lots of great restaurants, but this hotel is way overpriced for how unclean it is. I will not stay here again.

The internet description was very deceiving. We spend a lot of time looking before deciding on this one. Pictures made It sound and look good. Said there was an indoor pool. Well, there was a hole where the pool was supposed to be. Room was not clean. You walked across the floor barefoot, and your feet got black. Mirror on bathroom door was cracked all the way across it. The mirror above the sink had a crack starting at the bottom. I took pictures down to the desk to show them so we didn't get charged for it and they just said, "oh Ok". The bottom of the bathroom door inside the bathroom was all broke and falling apart. The one bed the mattress was completely broken down especially in the middle. It was very soft and you couldn't help but roll to the middle all night. It completely sank in the middle. So needless to say we did not get a good night's sleep. The other bed was not as bad but was really soft. The breakfast room was dirty. The windows in there were filthy. There were 4 soda machines with nothing in them taking up space and they were filthy. Outside window were filthy. If we could have found another place to stay we would have moved. Would not recommend it. Definitely not worth $200 a night!

The rooms were updated but still had un-updated things such as old doors. Our bathroom door did not latch. The bedding that was put on our bed was not all the way dried but the bed was very comfortable. The lobby was outdated as was the hallways. The halls smelt musty. The elevators both made scary sounds. Location was perfect. I'd stay here again but would like to see more improvements.

Nice new bathrooms. Room was clean. Nice view of the river and lake. Nice balcony (no chairs). Pretty close to everything. I recommend driving to the beach because the walk is 10-15 minutes and if you have anything other than towels to carry it’s tough because the sand on the beach is soft and super hot. The hotel could use some updates. Needs new carpet everywhere. You could see light on all sides of the door to get into the room. The mirror on the door to the bathroom needed replaced. There was no door on the bedroom. Kinda weird when you have older kids. Smaller bathroom door was hard to close. It’s nice to have a free breakfast but it was the worst free breakfast I’ve ever had. No fresh or hot food. Our kids said it was like school cafeteria food. Lobby looks nice. Staff were friendly.

Good location, comfortable bed, charging lamps and charging station next to bed, new shower and bathroom areas, white bedspreads, table and 2 chairs, couch and ottoman, luggage furniture. Fast elevators. Nice fast efficent check in. New tole flooring. Could be better You can hear everything from hallway to inside rooms. Doors have space under them. Old carpeting in hallway and warm hallway. Floors and bedspread little sandy-- Difficult being next to beach.

The room was clean, but there were a couple of things that needed repaired...door stopper in bathroom, splitting at bottom of the bathroom door. Why does the showerhead have to be so high? I just about drowned myself just turning on the water. And why is the slide door by the turn on faucett in the shower locked? It would make sense to be able to reach in above the toilet to turn on the water w/o getting soaked just turning on the water. Also, the shower head was 7 feet tall,& we couldn't change the direction of the showerhead. (We are short people, ha!) The staff were very nice & made us feel welcome.

Location was great. Staff was nice. Parking was adequate. Keurig in the room with Green Mtn coffee. Rooms were clean but Beds were uncomfortable. Tossed and turned all night. We had a front facing room and could hear traffic noise all night. Toilet leaked into the bathroom floor and the bathroom sink did not drain in a timely manner. Carpets in hallways could be replaced. LOCATION for the win.

The rooms are updated and clean. They are on the smaller side, especially the bathroom where the door barely clears the toilet. Our TV didn’t work but it wasn’t a huge deal since we spent most of our time out and about. Breakfast is minimal, toast, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt and drinks. Beach is within walking distance, just challenging if taking a lot of things. Overall, not bad for a place to sleep.

Enjoyed our stay here. The only negative issue occurred when we entered the rear door from the parking lot at about 9:30 at night to find the door open and no one at the front desk watching for hotel residents only entering. Anyone could have entered the hotel and gone straight to the elevators as we did. Very poor security.

Will begin with the check-in process was very slow. The front desk ladies English was very broken, which makes it very difficult to communicate. Second is there is a fight on the seventh floor with a couple and pretty much woke up everybody on the second floor and kept us awake for several hours. Called the front desk. Nothing was done obviously because there was no security. You would’ve thought they would’ve called 911 but that didn’t happen either then it sleep well. Went down in the morning to talk to the receptionist to get a credit on my room and they were nowhere to be found. I just walked out and was over it because I had to get on with my day. The breakfast was frozen breakfast sandwiches and old muffins wrapped up in sandwich bags like they went and bought in bulk. Just not a typical continental breakfast at most hotels that provide free breakfast definitely subpar room was OK. The floor was filthy bathroom doable. TV reception and quality absolutely horrible just overall I would give this a two star hotel at Best. I would’ve preferred to pay more money, but it was the hotel that was nearby. If you’re wanting a super cheap stay and you really don’t care about customer service and quality and you’re on a budget below $100 than this will work if you just need to lay your head.

We got there and the guy behind the counter didn’t acknowledge us for a bit too long. Eventually got to our room and everything was damp (towels, sheets, etc.). There was long brown hair in multiple places (shower, floor, bed)… disgusting. The elevators were broken so we had to walk up the stairs. The stairs are accessible from the outside only and requires zero security - very unsafe. WiFi barely worked. Would not recommend.

We picked the Silver Beach because it was reasonably priced and within walking distance of the train station. The staff was friendly but the facility itself was spartan and had an overall feeling of needing work. The clock radio wasn't plugged in and I couldn't get the numbers to display, yet the alarm for some reason went off at 3:00 am. The breakfast was minimalist at best.

Amazing hotel clean, friendly service my five rooms close to one another like I asked. Very cooperative! Sia did a great job let us check in early & so so kind! Offered an umbrella because it was raining to the wedding we were attending! Sherpa cleaning gave extra towels very sweet! Thank you to all employees to help make it a great hotel to stay!!!! We stayed at Silver Beach Hotel and overall had a good experience. The location really can’t be beat – it’s right in the heart of St. Joseph and within walking distance to restaurants, shops, and of course the beach. Our room was clean and somewhat updated, though the property as a whole could definitely use some refreshing in places. For the price, it felt reasonable and met our needs. The staff was friendly and even allowed us to check in early, which we really appreciated. If you’re looking for convenience and a decent place to stay without expecting luxury, this hotel is a solid choice.

Electronics in our room were below average, had to unplug various items in order to turn on the bedside lamps. Bathroom lighted mirror was not wired to be usable (wires were disconnected). Breakfast was sub par for $250/night. Flies and gnats on all open bread, breakfast area was not air conditioned.

Food options in the am were not appealing and I tried several different items. The muffins were hard and tasted stale, The microwave was not heating the sandwiches properly. Coffee was good. I would suggest changing distribution of muffins and breads, possibly getting boiled eggs or microwave pancakes
