Lancaster Gate Hotel

Overall a good place & within 5 blocks of many restaurants, services, the Tube & hopon hopoff busses, but could use some improvements to make it more comfortable. Mattresses def could be more comfy, maybe add memory foam toppers, something so they don't feel so hard. Also, no washrags avbl...handowels are too big to use in the shower. Bigger soap dispensers for shower. In general, a water fountain somewhere for guests to fill bottles and an ice machine.

Only overnighted. Thanks to hotel for allowed room when I arrived from Aussie at 5am so tired. Very friendly service. Only problem were the stairs after you got to your level by lift. Would stay again. Close to tube.

Water temperature way too hot. If you need to have permanent sign up warning about the temperature you need to turn it down at the boiler. There's a lift but depending where your room is you may need to climb another flight of stairs to your room. Not fun with luggage and a cane. Lots of eateries near by, bus and tube stops. Close to Hyde Park for outdoor walking.

We enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and very spacious for our family of 3. It was good walking distance to Hyde park, Kensington palace, 20 minutes to the museum area, walk to paddington and very close to hop on hop off stop and the regular bus line. The only thing we didn’t like was we were on the first floor so you take the elevator up then we had to carry our luggage up 6 stairs, down a carpeted hall way then down 6 stairs. Also the fridge didn’t work and the hotel could not supply us with ice to cool our drinks.

The only hotel I’ve been to in the world that charges you for leaving a bag in after checkout. It’s only one pound but how annoying.

Average hotel (compared to hotels in my home country in Scandinavia). Clean, nothing special in the interior. No fridge in the room, simple water heater, tea and coffee. Small room, the smallest possible for two. Location quite good. They do not access to gym althought it is mentioned in their presentation. Expected more with that price.

Generally OK but a little tired with decor. The restaurant is a bit like a school canteen and the bar next door like an after thought. Room was comfortable. Bathroom tiny.

Good, safe area. Excellent breakfast. Restaurant no longer open for evening meal. Safe too low to use easily. Carpet stained. No fridge. No phone in room.

Poor WiFi,and no dining options. Conveniently located to tube, and some dinning options along with grocery stores.

Business trip. Staff were friendly. Good location. Very basic room. Price high. No breakfast included in stay. Glass in room steamed out so couldn’t see out of window. Cheap pillows z& bedding. Tiny rooms which were clean but quite old and tired. Bathroom tiny. No room service. Small limited bar. Location was the best bit. Massively overpriced for what it offers. I wouldn’t stay again.

Toilet not working, smelled like mold, oldish

While the hotel shows a little bit of wear and tear, it was overall very clean, the service was great, the room was comfortable, and the location cant be beat. I stayed for a week and found it very reasonably priced. Would stay again.

Unfortunately we had issues with bed bugs. The hotel confirmed that they were aware of bed bugs but do not actually do anything to rectify this. We were given a new room and advised to keep our suitcases in the bath and keep the heating up high to keep the bed bugs at bay. This did not work offering us new rooms as clearly the bed bugs are in every room as we spent the night scratching still and woke up with bite marks...this was both rooms. After asking for 13 hours they finally gave us some spray to kill bed bugs for our luggage to be able to take our things home. The hotel also gave our key to our room to a random stranger who came into our room through the night, very scary being woken up with a random man looking over you in your bedroom.

The hotel is close to Hyde park and the bus stop and underground are a short walk away. The staff at the hotel are friendly and helpful. The hotel is spotlessly clean and bright . The only downside I found was we were given a very small room . I suppose if I’d asked they may have moved us but because we were out most of the time I never bothered . We have stayed at the hotel a few times and would stay again .

The good: It was a clean, new room. I was there for one night, so was put in the basement with no view. The room was freezing. The hotel sent someone down to help, who advised me to turn the thermostat up to 28 to get it to respond. This was 10pm. The heating issue was probably a fluke, but I would have expected a better experience for the price.

Hotel was on a really nice street with great homes directly across, easy 5 min walk to the subway and restaurants. The hotel itself is generally nice with a very good English breakfast. Rooms are a bit tired, as is the exterior of the hotel and needs some renovations. Rooms need some better cleaning, carpet corners can be cleaned better as can the grout in the bathroom. Noise was an issue, being on the "B" level (basement) the Bar area was directly above and late night staff must have been restocking or something but the banging and thumping was constant late at night between 10 pm -12 am. We would stay again, but would want an upper room next time.

Great place to stay for central London. Easy to get to shows ,shopping etc as underground station just down the road. Carpet could have been cleaner as a few stains on it+ fridge abit noisy but minor points.

Nice Hotel. Excellent location. Amazing breakfast. Comfortable room, good beds, nice bathtub.Very friendly personell. A bit old and will need some renovation after a while. Excellent hotel, great stay. Just dont expect anything brand new. I would definately stay here again.

I got into the city earlier than I expected and hoped to check in early, as I was totally exhausted from little sleep and lots of travel. At first they said no rooms were ready but someone checked and there was a room that was almost done, in 30 minutes. An hour passed, no one said anything. Then I saw someone checking in and the woman at the desk said “Yes a room is ready for you” and I went to the other man at the desk and just said “Hi I was told that a room would be ready for me in half an hour but it’s been over an hour. Do you know what the status is?” And the woman with the other customer looked in her computer for a second and said “oh I’m sorry, your room actually isn’t ready, it’ll be another hour or so.” And then the man checked me into my room. It definitely felt like they were about to give away my room, they didn’t communicate to one another or me. Apart from that, the staff was great. The room was clean but very dated, with rust around the edges of the tub, and they had signs all over everything- warnings about the hot water, what not to flush, how long to run the dryer… just very strange. Also it’s not really close the any train stations. I walked about 10-15 minutes from Paddington. Little observations, not really complaints or dealbreakers. It was comfortable for one night at a good price, and I’d probably go back in a pinch.

Had problems regulating the water temperature in the bathroom shower, which was frustrating. Either blistering hot or freezing cold. Bathroom was also very small with no place to set your personal items. Carpet was stained and there was no phone in the room.

Great location but the rooms are pretty tired

Room was very dated, carpet was lumpy to walk on, old wooden window did not shut, view to outside was a building site, wardrobe doors did not close properly. Staff were professional & helpful

In a quiet area but close to bus and metro. Walking distance to restaurants and to Kensington Palace and Hyde Park. Can hear people when they are in the hallways.

Room was small bathroom was tiny

Great location, friendly staff. Rooms were extremely small and not quite billed as spacious as website subjects. However, since we were just there for a place to sleep and shower, it was satisfactory.

Lovely hotel and good breakfast. Need to sort the noise on the basement level - maybe boilers continually going? Moved at 11.30pm to another room as maintenance needed to go into room apparently due to ceiling issues/floor issues with room above! Better mattress in second room - first room was like sleeping on a wooden board as mattress was barely existent. TVs need updating.

Overall quite nice. Very thin walls so if a neighbour is watching TV, it’s disturbing. Small point about soap. Shower gel is not adequate for hand washing. Please put in some soap.

Receptionist was wonderful, she really made all the difference A huge warm welcome and helped with a small discrepancy very well She should be commended for how wonderful she was

All good. Coffee served before advertised time of 10am which we appreciated having arrived earlier. Problem with Room temperature but room was changed immediately by very helpful staff. Comfortable bed and quiet room.

Friendly helpful staff, clean comfortable room. I have walking issues. The first stay, the staff found me a room without stairs, downstairs, access by elevator. My second stay was on the ground level floor in a larger room. The room was showing its age but was comfortable. The breakfast is buffet style, lots of choice and like all hotels, very expensive. There are pubs and a good Italian restaurant within walking distance. I would probably stay again. Thank you to the staff.

Staff went above and beyond.

I was really glad my group chose these hotel. It was an excellent place with wonderful and helpful staff. I have to mentón Athina at the restaurant and the people in the front desk.

Everything was good, great service and customer service

We chose this hotel as we had to use up a triple up Tesco voucher from pre-Covid. We wanted something convenient for Paddington which it was. Warm welcome on arrival, left our luggage there as we were early (free on checking in). The buffet breakfast was included and was excellent, lots of choice for continental or full English with lots of tea! The restaurant was a little cramped at breakfast so it was better on the first day when we were in there before 8am. We ate pasta of the day in the restaurant for lunch on arrival the first day, and ate both our evening meals there too. We left our luggage on our departure day £1 per bag, did some sightseeing then had soup in the restaurant before walking back to the station (a leisurely 10-15 minute flat walk). All those meals were excellent and great value for money. The hotel was busy with foreign students giving it a young and lively vibe and making a difference from those hotels where you can hear a pin drop at breakfast! The room was a bit bigger than expected, the bed comfortable and the shower/bath hot albeit slow to warm up/run. The hotel was also in a peaceful area and a short walk to the tube station. All staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was convenient for Hyde Park and an easy 30 minute walk from the Museums or an hour to Westminster but again a nice walk via the park and the Royal Albert Hall. There was also a Santander cycle rack close by. We'd definitely stay again

Hotel staff at reception incredibly rude. Card machine was not working but the lady insisted it was my card being rejected. 25 minutes later and no apology at 10.40pm

The hotel was good with decent sized rooms. The location is OK although very convenient for the Swan pub which became our end of day go-to location for a pint (or two), and Lancaster Gate tube stop is a short walk away Check in was bit of an ordeal. A new computer system had just gone live and all the details I had provided on the original reservation had to be re-entered. I know this is not the fault of the front desk staff but they have to deal with annoyed customers (like me). A temporary issue I'm sure, but not a good customer experience. Some things to note from my stay: - some rooms require you to climb stairs to get to them even though you rode the lift/elevator. If you're a handicapped traveler be sure to NOT get one of these rooms. - in my bathroom the shower water fluctuated randomly from scalding hot to freezing cold. I reported this to the front desk and maybe it has been addressed. My travel companion did not have this issue in this room.

Great place to stay for a visit to London. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Close to Hyde park, Notthing hill and tube to central London.

Close to everything we needed. Transportation, dining, shopping, parks.

The hotel is very close to any important place around Central London. Close to Hyde-Park, Kensington Palace, Notting Hill, Oxfordstreet, Piccadilly, Trafalger Square, Westminster with Big Ben aso. Walking distance to Paddington Station. With taxi to St. Pangras Station. The bus-lines 94 and 148 reachable in 3 minutes. Just fine to spent 7 days in London.

Beautiful old hotel right across from Hyde Park. The location is terrific!

This is great area of London, easy to get to by underground or walk from Paddington. Kensington Gardens are a block away and into Hyde Park walk all the way to Buckingham Palace.

Generally sound , room ceiling could do with lick of paint and upgrade on the Guinness. Staff very pleasant and helpful, will stay again , great breakfast.

Had a great stay and breakfasts were fantastic

I stayed at this location October 2023. I was excited to return. Downside is currently the hotel's restaurantis only serving Continetal Breakfast. Upside, The Leinster Arms is around the corner and they have a wonderful menu. History Enthusiasts would be interested to know the Lancaster became the Douglas House. Early Who fans might be interested to know this was a club that The Detours played at often. I am looking forward to returning soon.

Perfect overnight stay with breakfast

Located in a lovely area, this place is friendly and has quite a good (if simple) restaurant and bar. Breakfast buffet is excellent and not too expensive. The room was ok, but not very nice. It's OLD. Not Elizabethan-old, but maybe 1960s old. They do their best in a building with old bones, but to be top notch, ya gotta keep the bathroom fixtures up to date (and more convenient!). The window only opened an inch, and towels were kinda threadbare. Friendly people, though, and nice enough downstairs. It's ok, I could do it again, but I'd try someplace else next time.

Everything was fine but our evening steak meal was not good horrible sirloin steak served as a slab of concrete and onion rings cold. A party of around four were in a rush and I believe they got there meals before us despite ordering after us Not bad overall but feel I wasted my my money on the evening meal

Wonderful hotel! Location was very close to the Underground. Staff was amazing, we arrived at 10am expecting to store luggage but our room was already ready. The breakfast buffet was great. Plan to book again in future!
