Great location, beautiful views from the breakfast restaurant and veranda. Friendly and helpful staff. The room was dated but clean and with AC which was a life-saver in the summer heat. Did the experience match the price? No it didn't but then we also visited Brighton on prob it's busiest and most expensive week of the year.

Room 152 in the mews carpet badly stained and large dip outside bathroom door made walking between the two very unnerving as though it might give way. An horrendous view looking out on to bins, old equipment which could be covered with some opaque roofing to prevent this unsightly view. Shower was less than powerful enough and the rust from the handles kept falling into the bath and sides which was not pleasant when bathing. We paid for £400+ for our two rooms and our friend’s room was extremely small and cramped. This was a gift to them for paying for our son’s wedding as he is marrying their daughter and we felt quite embarrassed when they showed us their room this morning. The hotel is quite tired and in need of updating, particularly the bathroom where the shower panel was. However, the staff were amazing in particular Orzo ( this is probably not how you spell his name) but the Hungarian gentleman on reception.

I like Mercure hotels a lot generally. This one is only okay. It’s getting a bit tatty and could use a deep clean and major touch-up, if not a full redecoration. The restaurant staff are lovely. The reception staff, not so much. It’s a long walk to central Brighton.
