Great hotel. Great position. Great spa. Lovely bar area both in the hotel and the separate pub. Mizumi. Wow. What an incredible meal and a fantastic vibe inside too!

Really nice hotel spa if you’re thinking of a long weekend in Windermere The staff are lovely and helpful and the breakfast was really good! The hotel generally is nice too. Only thing I will say is that the spa section is too small in proportion to the amount of guests that can stay at the hotel, it filled out quickly, to the point where it’s felt like there were too many people in the general area. Steam room and one of the hot tubs didn’t work either which was a bit of a let down. 4/5 overall!

Booked a 2night stay for our 20th Wedding Anniversary. Hotel itself is beautiful and very modern. Breakfast was amazing. So much choice. One thing we were a little disappointed about was the Spa set up - bit strange having never experienced something like this before. A Spa in our eyes is a relaxing place to have a swim, jacuzzi etc, sun loungers, read a book kind of thing. But we were faced with a drinking atmosphere and people drinking alcohol in and around the pool as the bar opened into the spa. The room had no mini fridge, which was quite a surprise as it's a five star resort or no gym.

We had a great time here, the room was spacious and all the staff were very friendly. The only downsides were that a gym is advertised on the hotel listing which there isn’t one & we both paid £90 for a full body massage and after asking for firm pressure it was more on the softer side.

An excellent hotel in a great location. Staff all friendly and very helpful. The pool and spa facilities are first class. Could do with a better selection on the menu for lunches.

Really great overall experience, staff were welcoming and polite. The setting and spa were amazing and the building and room were clean and well maintained. However, the breakfast was disappointing and it would have been better if the spa was connected directly to the hotel.

Stayed one night in July 2025 for my mother’s retirement and was very disappointed. The room was unclean (marked bedding with hair and rose petals from previous guests, mouldy shower, cobwebs on the ceiling, dusty fixtures). The room was also hot with no air conditioning and very poor soundproofing. When I complained afterwards with photos, the response was dismissive. Instead of a proper redress, I was offered a discount on a future stay. Expedia had to step-in to provide compensation. Importantly, the hotel has self-rated its own five-star rating– and it shows. This was nowhere near genuine five-star standard.

Lovely night away. Staff are very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Excellent facilities with the spa and hot tub in our suite. Will definitely be back 5*

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel it’s beautifully clean, great facilities and lovely staff. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, food and bars were fabulous and the pub and spa was a wonderful addition. We had a lovely treatment and felt very relaxed at the spa. Can’t wait to return to the hotel.

The hotel is lovely and is in a fab location. Our apartment was clean well equipped however sleeping was difficult as it was sooooooo hot in the bedrooms. Leaving the skylight open and the fan on didn’t help unfortunately. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Gorgeous terrace with fabulous lake views.

Me and my partner's stay was amazing. You do truly get what you pay for. The rooms were clean, had a great layout, and the hot tub in our room was amazing, with a gorgeous view to go with it. The staff were friendly and welcoming and gave us a tour of the grounds. The spa was clean and helped provide that relaxing environment. Overall Lakes Hotel and Spa is a perfect place to stay for a long weekend getaway to just relax.

Not very clean, towels had weird smell. Noisy in the apartments. Lift had no sensors causing injury twice very dated decor

Fantastic hotel and spa with excellent service. Room of a good size and the facilities were excellent. There was one major let down though, the bathroom - to have black mould growing on the grouting around the room is one thing, to have it growing on the shower head and on the tiles themselves along with orange mildew is borderline negligence. The were also cobwebs in two corners and on the light fixture above the mirror. All of this questions just how much effort and checks in place to ensure in basic cleanliness and wiping surfaces down is achieved. It was off-putting to the point it puts into question whether I would return to the hotel despite everything else being very well presented.

On arrival the hotel seemed amazing, greeted by the gateman and the concierge. Our room was very small and boiling hot and lacked the basic amenities like a box of tissues, no mini bar, no bottled water, enough towels for the spa and to use in the hot tub. Bathroom is very small and outdated but very clean. Large gap under the main room door letting lots of light in all night. Every time someone in a room next door flushes the toilet or runs then tap you can here or, loudly! We had a room with a hot tub and had robes we could wear over to the spa. The robes were so small neither of us could wear them. Dinner in mazumi was nice, I had pre books this before arrival but they had no record of this but we did manage to get in, food was good, but they forgot one of our mains and no cutlery provided for dessert so everything melted whilst waiting for that. Not a bad stay but for the cost there was a lot of things that could be improved. Spa was so busy there was nowhere to sit and facilities are small so was difficult to actually use anything other than the pool. Would we stay here again for £350 per night, plus food etc - no. I’ve stayed in much much better hotels for less money

Have nothing but great things to say about the staff and amenities. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and helpful. The terrace was a nice touch with an incredible view of the lake. The room was played out well and very comfortable. Would highly recommend!

We had a superior room which needs updating as a bit tired - needs coffee machine (who drinks instant from a packet today) Shower not powerful and very poor lighting. However the view of the lake was just lovely to see last thing at night and first thing in the morning.The food was incredible especially the asian restaurant. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Didn't rate the spa but a nice added extra for those who like it. Location is perfect so close to the centre.

Right from the point of arrival the service was outstanding!! Loved the cosy room with the hot tub. It was very spacious and the hot tub was amazing. May stay was for a special birthday but will definitely return soon!!

Couldnt fault anything apart from we were in room 131 and the privacy in the hot tub lacked a bit. Everyone that passed either on foot or in a car were gawping at us. A non clear banister would stop this. My wife felt a little bit awkward walking to and from the tub.

Hotel in a great location, bed comfort along with sofa comfort very poor. Well used ! Water pressure poor in the shower. Hotel very clean with friendly service and the Bentley car is a great touch for being dropped off anywhere local, spa bar a great touch.being charged £12 per day for car parking when you don’t book direct is a charge too far. Breakfast good but you have to be clear with the breakfast staff to avoid confusion.

The room was lovely but needed updating, no USB ports, no info in room about surrounding area and no WiFi password info. The service from all the staff was first class, public areas were really clean. The food was excellent

Very expensive for the price. Small room and over priced. Hot tub was nice, but had the car park view so wasn’t what we had hoped for.

Lovely stay as usual. Love The Lakes hotel. Wonderful food and service. Gorgeous room and hot tub. Sadly the bed needed replacing- room138 and could feel the springs of the mattress- neither of us slept well.

Overall the staff here were great and the room I stayed in was clean and well maintained. I liked that fact that I was shown around and I also enjoyed the breakfast. The only slightly negative remark I would have is that I could hear the people next door but it wasn't too bad as they weren't too noisy or anything. I also found my shower head wasn't really giving consistent pressure, again nothing that would take the shine off my stay but its these two reasons made me take off a star. Otherwise though I did think the staff and the facilities were very good and it is very close to windermere and some great walks.

Amazing! We were very well looked after from arrival. Prosecco at check in; consierge service (Mark) was superb; complimentary Bentley to take us to our restaurant; beautiful and comfortable room; all staff encountered were friendly and helpful. Absolutely cannot fault this hotel, it was perfect.

We had a wonderful 2 days celebrating our anniversary here. We were greeted by Lauren who checked us in and offered us a glass of fizz before showing us round the hotel and to our room. The room was perfect with the hot tub on the balcony an extra indulgence. Very clean with Elemis toiletries for us to use. We ate in the cocktail bar/restaurant on our first evening and had the tapas which was delicious. Konrad in the bar was very attentive and made us the perfect cocktails. We ventured into the spa during our visit which was very relaxing - we didn’t have any treatments but did see that they were reasonably priced. All the staff here couldn’t do enough for us and when we asked for advice on where to go for live music, Lesley found places for us and offered us a lift into Bowness in the Bentley with more local information given from Mark who drove us in. We absolutely loved the hotel and our stay and will be back next year to celebrate another years anniversary!!

Absolutely brilliant. Couldn’t fault it at all. The staff were amazing and extremely hospitable. We were awarded a complimentary upgrade for my boyfriend’s birthday and were able to use the Bentley to be dropped off in town. Rooms were lovely and clean, and very warm! Will definitely be returning.

Best hotel we've stopped in in bowness by a country mile. We will definitely be going back there. Room was fantastic, food and drinks were fantastic, spa was fantastic and a complimentary chauffeur service into the village. Brilliant hotel ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolutely wonderful from the moment we stepped through the door! We have never been treated so well in any hotel before! Every single member of staff was perfect. Greeted with a glass of prosecco, chauffeur driven Bentley to a restaurant. Felt very special. Thank you each and every one of you who made our stay wonderful 😍

Visited hotel for our anniversary and had a wonderful stay! The location was perfect and near by all amenities. The reception staff at check in and the concierge made us feel very welcome with a lovely glass of Prosecco and a tour of the hotel. We booked a junior suite with hot tub that was really spacious and clean. We ate in both the cocktail bar and their Thai restaurant Mizumi and both were exceptional. Every staff member that we encountered couldn’t do enough for you and always with a smile. Will definitely be back and highly recommend.

I have stayed in this hotel numerous times and I have always absolutely loved it here but last night there was a major power cut, I wouldn’t have minded but the staffs attitude was shocking telling us all it is not their problem or their issue and basically just to get on with it, our room was absolutely pitch black we couldn’t see a thing not to mention the fact we couldn’t use the spa which is so upsetting as it was my partners birthday and this is the whole reason why I booked this hotel. I understand things can happen but to be told just to grab a candle and either sit in the bar or go to our room was shocking. It was very dangerous on the stairs as we could not see a thing. What made this worse was when we awoke in the morning the power was still off, as for breakfast this was obviously off too. Just a shocking overall experience as the staff did not once try and make things any better for us all, alls I kept being told was this is not our problem! When you have paid a decent amount of money for a spa stay it is genuinely upsetting & not even to be offered a thing is disgusting! This hotel is suppose to be a 5 star so standards are obviously highly (definitely shouldn’t have staff telling me to just grab a candle and get on with it!) This birthday trip was absolutely ruined and I am so upset over the overall experience especially when you have saved up for this hotel.

Stayed for a birthday weekend at this beautiful hotel, from the minute we walked through the door we where greeted with a smile and a warm welcome from Lesley on reception, she took us through everything and showed us to our from all with a constant smile, we had a cosy double with a hot tub and the room was stunning not small at all, we went for a walk into the centre which was lovely and prob took 7 mins, breakfast at the hotel was a standard help yourself buffet but again had everything you needed, staff at breakfast where friendly and welcoming. We used the spa which was lovely and we also ate lunch in the pub which was nice as well, again all staff we spoke to in the pub/spa where welcoming and very friendly, we went into the cocktail bar for drinks and where helped by Taylor and Findlay who where fab so chatty and helpful, we checked out the next morning after another lovely breakfast and organised a taxi to go back up station which unfortunately didn’t show, I was stressing a little but Alicia and Monika on reception sorted it by organising for Carl to drive us to the station, nothing is a problem for the staff at this hotel. The hotel is beautiful and I would return in a heartbeat, the stand out at this hotel for me is the staff, only once before have I been on a trip where every single staff member I encountered genuinely wanted to help you and make sure you where having the best time the staff working at this hotel really are amazing. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was our second visit to the hotel and we can't wait for a third trip. From the moment you arrive you feel like you are a VIP and Mark the concierge is amazing, such an asset to the hotel. After being welcomed with a glass of fizz and a tour of the hotels facilities Mark leaves you to relax at your own pace, he even shows you to your room once it is ready. The suite with hot tubs are unreal, we haven't stayed anywhere like it anywhere else. The restaurants and cocktail lounge are all fantastic and the spa is a very laid back relaxing area where you feel at ease instantly. Food was gorgeous, we had tapas in the cocktail lounge for lunch, the evening meal in Mizumi was gorgeous and breakfast was excellent. We can't wait to stay again. Thank you all.

Had a fantastic 3 night stay , from the moment we arrived we was greeted with lovely friendly staff, our room was on the lower floor, well equipped but I would book the room with private hut tub when we return. Can not find fault with anything about this outstanding hotel, the location is especially good.

Lovely hotel in the Lake District. Conveniently located near shopping and attractions. Bike rentals available onsite. The bars, lounges and restaurants were fantastic.

What an amazing hotel,staff very friendly and polite and hotel in great location

last minute decision to go to the lakes on the final bank holiday weekend and booked Lakes hotel.I have been here on at least a dozen occasions and its my first choice everytime.Upon arrival,i was offered a glass of prosecco and check in was very quick.I was then shown to my room and case carried by Mark who explained how the hot tub worked and various other items in the lovely room.Enjoyed the spa facilities then had dinner in Mizoni fusion restaurant and the food was amazing.Then finished the evening in the hot tub on the balcony of the room.Check out the next morning was 11am but we were allowed to use the spa facilities and car park until 1pm which was great. The staff are fantastic,the hotel second to none,food brilliant and the spa facilities are the best in Bowness in my opinion.Location is brilliant too,a couple of minutes walk from Bowness bay. Cant wait to go back again soon.

A lovely 3 day stay with my wife for my 60th birthday. Location excellent, Staff very friendly & cooperative, rooms clean ,tidy & modern. We didn't eat in the restaurant apart from breakfast which was good. The complimentary Bentley was a bonus getting into town. Will definitely go again...

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lakes Hotel. Facilities were excellent including spa. Food was of high quality. Staff were very helpful. All areas were clean and well furnished. 10 min walk into Bowness.

Everything about our stay was amazing from start to finish. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Spa was amazing. My daughter had a spa treatment and said it was fantastic. We had a double room with a hot tub, with beautiful views from the balcony. It was my daughter s birthday and I’d ordered balloon’s & Prosecco for arrival & it was all so lovely. Evening meal was absolutely delicious as was our breakfast. Will definitely stay again 😊

Great hotel. Staff all lovely. Great cocktail Bar overlooking the lake which also does food. On site restaurant mizumi is excellent. Great atmosphere. It was nice to have an evening where we didn’t need to leave the hotel. The only points for improvement would be the bathroom could do with modernising and having a walk in shower and the superior room we had could have done with a set of drawers as we felt this was lacking. That being said we would definitely book again. We had a great visit

Absolutely beautiful hotel with a stunning room and hot tub. The only thing that lets it down is the breakfast. In a 5* hotel, I would expect you to be able to order your eggs as you’d like them to go with the buffet style breakfast.

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel with stunning views over Lake Windermere. Add in the lovely staff and the amazing food in Mizumi and you will struggle to find a better hotel anywhere in the UK. We will definitely be back.

Lovely hotel. We got a great massage during our stay and the women who worked there were wonderful. That was definitely the highlight. The service in the restaurant and cocktail bar wasn’t great. Both times our food was slow and in the restaurant there seemed to be ample staff. In the cocktail bar our food took ages to come and when it arrived it was wrong. It seemed the staff were out of their depth that night. It also took a long time for one drink to arrive and at some point the waiter walked over to our table then just turned around and walked away. I think they were very stressed that night. But more training may help them. The suite was lovely and the hot tub was fantastic. Only thing that struck us as odd that a room in the lakes had nowhere to hang/dry coats after coming in from the rain.

Outstanding service! Loved it, and the restaurant was a real experience.
