The corridor outside our room had a strong smell of grease, fortunately inside the room was ok. We were wakened from noise in the kitchen around 7am so really not the best room. We were a late arrival and early departure using it as a stop off so took the cheapest room available, I'be stayed here before and would recommend paying for the upgrade as the bigger rooms are much nicer. We arrived around 10pm and went for a drink in the bar, the barmaid closed up after serving us without telling us it was last orders (very early for a Friday night and with 4 separate groups of guests in the bar/lounge area). The very helpful nightshift worker did fix us another couple of drinks.

2 really bad points about the room and hotel, I'd contacted the hotel prior to the visit to ensure the electric vehicle charge point was fully working - yes no issues with it. On arrival the charge point was totally dead, asked the reception staff to look into it but couldn't get it to work. No maintenance staff available to look into it until the following Monday. So had to then go and charge the car elsewhere. This was the reason we chose this hotel. Second really bad point, the toilet leaked, we reported it straight away and got the response we have no-one to look at it until Monday. Again totally unacceptable to have a toilet leaking effluent onto the floor each time it was used. No, could we move you to another room...... We were in the " newly refurbished" suites, 2 castle view cottage. In addition the conservatory restaurant is described as "elegant" and the pictures show tables fully decked out with linen etc, the experience is a basic 1980s large conservatory, you eat from tables, that have no linen on them, and constantly rock to and forth until you shove something under one of the legs. The food was actually good, however the setting is definitely NOT elegant.

The Crown Hotel is nestled in a quiet community near Carlisle. It is located near a train station but also has a parking area (spaces are a bit tight, designed for small cars but filled with larger cars). There is access to a private gym/fitness center on site. There is a lovely garden with seating. The morning breakfast is quite nice with many options. We stayed three nights while we explored Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall and the Lake District. Also, there is a nearby footpath that takes you along the Eden River to Constantine's Cell/Wetheral Caves which made for a lovely morning walk.

Easy for electric car charging. (Not free) Good size rooms with comfy beds, smart tvs and a good size bathroom Breakfast was reasonable but nothing to get excited about. Hot drinks from a machine... would rather prefer fresh. Beer from the bar was fresh and the restuarant served good sized hearty food.

We had a really nice stay. Food very good. Staff very friendly. The only thing psrking st ti.es was very busy with people parking for thr gym. My hubby has poor mobility and hotel guests using didable bays. We had to park right over the other side of the car park. Other than that a lovely stay

Our room had been poorly decorated. The windows were dirty. The bathroom floor looked grubby because it was covered in paint splodges. The water pressure in the shower was very low. The beverage tray was poor. We had two mugs and just one teaspoon . We had 2 rooms and both had these problems. Breakfast was mediocre.

Lovely hotel and staff, food was good. Let down by extremely poor housekeeping and the noise within the bedroom at night. Some kind of air handling unit ductwork runs near to the room, so loud it literally makes the mirror on the wall vibrate at night and had to wedge it off the wall with tissues to keep it quiet so we could try to sleep. As for the housekeeping they need to get new staff, the corridor leading to the room has cobwebs everywhere and these have been there a while judging by the thickness and state of them. The bedroom was like a nursery for spiders and I literally lost count of the ones I had to remove so my partner would eventually settle, again cobwebs all over the ceilings and beams within the room.

Very good access just off M6 but in a pretty and quiet village. Plenty of parking. Hotel had maintained its clean, very comfortable, nicely furnished rooms since our last visit. There is a choice of pub bar and restraunt dining and our bar food was good traditional food. Staff were friendly though maybe some were newly trained and service a bit slow. Strongly recommended and will be back.

Lovely, clean, comfortable well decorated room, TV even had Netflix, huge walk in shower in a large on suite bathroom. Amazingly comfortable bed. Excellent meals in the bar, good choice menu and generous portions. Fairly well stocked bar. Very enjoyable breakfast in the conservatory. All staff were courteous, friendly and professional and well above average. The rail station is nearby the hotel and there is a local bus service. Lovely little village only around 6 miles from Carlisle city centre.

Bathroom was awful. Long dark hair in bath; grime all around the bath; mould on taps and tiles. Glass window panels had paint on them and paint splashed on floor and radiator. Bedroom window panels big streakes of paint; dirty on paintwork and an ancient dead wasp. Definitely not 4 star. Very disappointed. Positives: friendly staff and nice lounge area

Not perfect im afraid !! Asked for a room next door to our family and was told they had been upgraded and we were on a differnt floor ,fine overall lovely room but not next door Breakfast on the sunday was perfect it was a buffet and loved it .on the monday terrible it was inedible i think it had been left from the day before.spoke to the reception and all the could do was apologise 😞 not really good enough.on leaving the room i always strip our bed and found terrible stains on the duvet again told they can only apologise 😠

Fantastic Hotel with super friendly and helpful staff especially Henry in the bar who was very welcoming and a great member of the team. We had a suite that was absolutely perfect! The Hotel is spotless in every area. Breakfast was lovely with so many options you certainly won't be left hungry! We also had dinner at the hotel and would definitely recommend. The food was delicious and the portions are plentiful. Would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel and will definitely be returning.

Spacious room with balcony, overlooking lovely gardens. Spacious, clean and warm with great sized bathroom. Toiletries provided and access to gym/pool. Food was amazing, and plenty of it. Highly recommend. Only slight minor for me on a personal note is that the mattresses were memory foam I think - hard as a rock, no give, one night was all I would be able to manage.

Amazing food, great room lots of light and brilliant views. Very clean and comfortable. Only 2 small problems to make perfect are shower water pressure is hilariously low and TV has bad signal but not such a problem really.

Wonderful 1 night stay at this lovely hotel. We were in Rose Cottage room #8 and we loved it! Clean, spacious and comfortable! Fire alarm went off at midnight (not the fault of the hotel) which was a great way to meet our fellow guests lol. Be aware there is no lift access to the upper floors in the cottage rooms if that might be a problem for you. Would definitely stay again if we’re back this way.

We had a wedding on the night we stayed and didn't know until we arrived which had we known we probably would have stayed elsewhere as the music went on until late. We did enjoy the lovely breakfast and the rooms were very comfortable though. The on-site leisure club with pool was great.

The overall hotel was lovely. We had a room above the kitchen, which was very noisy late into the night. And this morning we were woken up at 5.30am with the noise from the washing machines ans tumble dryer. The staff were very pleasant but unorganised

Our second stay here and we returned because we were very impressed last time. The check-in process was very smooth and efficient. Staff were polite, professional and helpful. The room, reception, bar and leisure club were very clean and bright. Food was tasty and well presented. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the free WiFi. It would hardly connect and once it was connected it was very slow. Improve that and it would be a 5-star review.

Hotel was in a beautiful and quiet location. We had a good sized room but the shower only dribbled out water at best and the room was very hot. The overhead fan didn’t work but a stand-alone fan had been provided. We were fairly late arriving and only stayed overnight so my husband was going to report the issues with the fan and shower in readiness for the next guest as we left. However, after waiting some time at reception and nobody appearing he gave up and just left the keycard on the reception seat. Breakfast was adequate, we didn’t use the leisure facilities.

Super clean room, was nicely designed & a warm welcome. Had dinner at the restaurant which unfortunately the service wasn’t great really slow & forgot one of our parties meal & drinks order (I would understand if it was super busy but it wasn’t) but they were friendly in general couldn’t fault that. The hotel was lovely giving really cosy vibes & the receptionist was lovely. Would recommend & the surrounding area is really nice for walks.

Nice stay. Staff very friendly. Food was pretty good. Bar area could be nicer and I thought the beer was quite expensive although was good. Water pressure not great but fine. Got charged incorrectly and twice for the rooms which I'll need to follow up to have rectified despite the receptionist saying she'd cancelled 1 of the charges. But I would probably stay again if in the area. Didn't have time to use the leisure facilities.

The overall hotel was lovely. We had a room above the kitchen, which was very noisy late into the night. And this morning we were woken up at 5.30am with the noise from the washing machines ans tumble dryer. The staff were very pleasant but unorganised

Would never go back waited over an hour for food every night, bad customer service from some of the staff, especially Lee, uncooked chicken, we weren't the only people to complain there was quite a few from fri to mon but a lot of people dont put reviews on

We come here when we can and just love the place. The young lad on reception was really helpful when all the trains were cancelled, going the extra mile getting us a cab.

Very good access just off M6 but in a pretty and quiet village. Plenty of parking. Hotel had maintained its clean, very comfortable, nicely furnished rooms since our last visit. There is a choice of pub bar and restraunt dining and our bar food was good traditional food. Staff were friendly though maybe some were newly trained and service a bit slow. Strongly recommended and will be back.

The Crown Hotel is nestled in a quiet community near Carlisle. It is located near a train station but also has a parking area (spaces are a bit tight, designed for small cars but filled with larger cars). There is access to a private gym/fitness center on site. There is a lovely garden with seating. The morning breakfast is quite nice with many options. We stayed three nights while we explored Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall and the Lake District. Also, there is a nearby footpath that takes you along the Eden River to Constantine's Cell/Wetheral Caves which made for a lovely morning walk.

Lovely, clean, comfortable well decorated room, TV even had Netflix, huge walk in shower in a large on suite bathroom. Amazingly comfortable bed. Excellent meals in the bar, good choice menu and generous portions. Fairly well stocked bar. Very enjoyable breakfast in the conservatory. All staff were courteous, friendly and professional and well above average. The rail station is nearby the hotel and there is a local bus service. Lovely little village only around 6 miles from Carlisle city centre.

Had dinner at the restaurant which unfortunately the service wasn’t great really slow & forgot one of our parties meal & drinks order (I would understand if it was super busy but it wasn’t) but they were friendly in general couldn’t fault that. Been to the hotel 4 times before Covid. This is the first time after Covid and it wasn’t the same. £10 for cold slab of goats cheese and £25 for duck breast I felt wasn’t worth it. No specials on the board. The breakfast was buffet not off the menu which meant up and down for coffee and toast and breakfast. Took the personal feel out it for us. Pool is good and staff are lovely

The food was awful It all looked well presented. The fish had an awful taste and didn’t smell healthy Breakfast first morning was table service which we were told it would be. Second morning was buffet. Which was cold. Was told they could HEAT IT UP !! No thanks My husband took the offer of a fresh made breakfast. This was also some items cold so suggested it wasn’t fresh. Won’t be back !!

Fantastic Hotel with super friendly and helpful staff especially Henry in the bar who was very welcoming and a great member of the team. We had a suite that was absolutely perfect! The Hotel is spotless in every area. Breakfast was lovely with so many options you certainly won't be left hungry! We also had dinner at the hotel and would definitely recommend. The food was delicious and the portions are plentiful. Would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel and will definitely be returning.

Noisy as room above bar. Disappointing overall.
