The Daffodil Hotel & Spa

When we arrived for our weekend away, they greated us by advising us that they had upgraded us to a room with a view, which straight away made us even more happier. Beautiful location and hotel and the Spa and breakfast were brilliant as well. Just missing a gym for us, then it would have been perfect. Defo going again.

Loved our short stay. Spa treatments we so good, waiting staff excellent as was food and drinks. Spa was a little disappointing ie the pool (small and cramped)

Beautiful location on a lake, lovely grassed area with chairs & lounges on the terrace. Scrumptious continental and cooked breakfast. Had a peaceful lounge/bar where you could order food. Also a spa pool, sauna & steam room free for guests, paid treatments available.

Staff were very helpful when we arrived. Room was lovely and spacious and the food was delicious. The spa was well equipped and very enjoyable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

What a place !! From the staff at reception to the staff in the lounge and dining room they could not do enough for us!! The facilities in the spa were amazing and our room was something else. We will definitely be returning here hopefully very soon x

The location and staff were amazing as was the unlimited breakfast!!! Dinner options were a tad pricey and limited choices with no bar snacks etc. The room was very clean but the mattress was showing its age with springs being felt coming through. The Spa is nice but again showing its age with tiles missing in the pool and obvious repairs here and there. The jets also were on a timer which needed constant restarting. We did notice a medical plaster left on the side of the pool for over 36 hours so not sure on the cleanliness of this area. The cushions of the loungers were also very soft/dated and needed replacing really. Overall very nice but search various sites for prices as we found varying levels with some over £100 more per night.

Good sized room with safe, hairdryer , tea and coffee making, robes and slippers. Enjoyed the spa after a good walk. Quality breakfast. My only negative was the bed was too hard so I didn't sleep well. My friends in other rooms found beds ok so personal experience. There are some electric car charging facilities in the car park.

Our stay at the Daffodil hotel was really good. The room had a really disappointing view but we did pay for the cheapest room. But the room itself was really comfortable and nice. The breakfast was brilliant and exceeded expectations. The service in the restaurant was very good as well, they also catered for gluten free which is unusual. It was a shame that the lobby bar was closed almost every time we walked past it despite it supposed to be open until midnight. The spa was lovely, great steam room and sauna and hot pool. A real treat after we walked up scafell pike! Shame that when we checked out the guy behind reception was not particularly friendly and seemed annoyed that we wanted to pay for our bill with cash. But that was the only poor service we received in the whole weekend. I’d recommend the daffodil, friendly service, good facilities and a great location for exploring the Lake District.

Spa relaxing. Food good though some was overpriced for the quantity. Burgers and fish large portions though the lamb very expensive and only a small portion. A very clean hotel and very friendly staff.

Initially we were very disappointed with the hotel given the amount of money we had paid for our stay. The bedroom had Cobwebs, stains on the carpet and electric sockets that didn’t work. The view from our room was poor, overlooking the air conditioner units. The outside furniture cushions were left out in the rain so remained wet and we’re mouldy and unclean. Litter and glasses were not cleared very promptly, and furniture and cushions were not straightened, leaving the hotel looking scruffy.

The location was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was clean snd spacious although we were disappointed it didn’t have a full lengh mirror. Breakfast certainty wasn't worth £30.

The staff were superb and really made us feel welcome. The food was delicious and expertly prepared. The only blemishes were a table in our room that was damaged and should have been replaced plus there was a little mould on the shower sealant. Overall, an excellent hotel and we will definitely stay there again.

Had a wonderful stay. The hotel is very clean and the room and bathroom was lovely. The staff have all been very friendly and helpful. Would definitely love to come back. The hotel is not far from a lovely walk around the Lake and 10mins flat walk to the centre of Grassmere.

The dinner was delicious, breakfast not the best. Spa we really enjoyed it. The room is comfortable however, the carpet is very dirty and needs a good clean. The location was perfect.

Didn’t use spa as just recovering from hip op. Room very clean. Food first class and service brilliant.

Hotel was lovely, Grasmere fantastic. Room was spacious and could possibly have accommodated a sofa though being an ability room maybe floor space is essential. Plug hole in bathroom sink could do with a spot of bleach. Otherwise good staff and excellent food- would return.

Huge room and huge en-suite. Great lake view. Good night's sleep.Will go again.

As a whole property is really nice but there was kitchen smell in the corridor on 1st floor. I choose Club rooms ,expecting higher quality furniture. Our bed had springs pushing out, making sleep really uncomfortable. My partner had to cover these with towels which was not very helpful. Changing room may have been an option , but there was no guarantee that other room will be any better. Breakfast is very ordinaryI must say.

we had a suite with lake views, it was really nice, very large room with nice big bed and large bathroom we had evening meal and breakfast, the food was good staff friendly and helpful. Great location for walks. will be back in the future

The property is located in an excellent location, right upon Lake Windermere itself. The staff are all friendly and the breakfast is good. The beds are firm and uncomfortable for me but that might be a personal preference.

Loved the hotel and facilities. The Room had a wonderful view of the lake and was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The restaurant was wonderful and the food fantastic. The biggest and best part of our stay were the staff. Friendly, attentive, and helpful. A huge plus for the hotel.

We stayed to celebrate my husbands 60th Birthday and although we had a slight issue with the booking (expedia’s fault not theirs) the staff were brilliant upgrading our room and leaving a lovely card and chocolates for my husband. Also after dinner they presented my husband with a Happy Birthday plate with fruit and chocolates. The spa pool was lovely and relaxing. All the hotel staff were very friendly and chatty. We will definitely go back again.

The hotel is in a great location. Beautiful spot with nearby walks and very walkable to Grasmere. The restaurant, the staff in the restaurant and the food were great. I had a spa treatment and my beautician was excellent. The shower in our room was great. The coffee and tea making facilities in the room and the housekeeping staff were great. However, we were really disappointed with our welcome and check out. The reception staff were not particularly friendly, or to be honest helpful when you requested anything. The lounge bar could be a great place for a quiet drink before dinner - if people aren’t watching videos loudly, and there is someone there to serve you. I would expect a manager to deal with people making the environment unusable to other guests, and that a lovely room like that would have enough staff to host guests effectively. The room we had (Senior Suite) had a comfortable bed and to some extent much of what you need. The sofa area was great, but the couch not really comfortable. Other things lacking no coat hooks, minimal hangers, not enough rails to hang towels and a wardrobe which was unnecessarily awkward to use based on the amount of space there is to accommodate it. Having a bath was not easy since the water pressure was so bad it took a long time to fill it, and the taps are in such an odd place you can’t fill it up once you are in it. For the money paid I would expect the room to be perfect in terms of comfort and really it was a disappointment.

The hotel is very clean. Most of staff are not at all friendly. I was disappointed with the spa, it was very dark in all the rooms. The bed room was clean and the cleaning team were all friendly.

Fantastic hotel and spa. Perfect location for some scenic walking and a very pretty village, with a few towns just a short drive away. The staff at the hotel were all extremely polite and helpful. The room was lovely, clean and well equipped (home from home), with some fantastic views. The breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back again ☺️

Great property, lovely room, and the food was excellent. Let down a bit by inconsistent messaging through staff. High turnover is inevitable in this part of the world and the ethos of delivery of high standards is not maintained through the core of the staff. I feel that some clear and consistent messaging needs to be passed throughout the staff. It’s no doubt a difficult issue but it is one that managers need to address if they are going to reach higher standards. Really enjoyed my stay all the same. Food was right up my street, unpretentious and downright yummy.

We have never met such happy and helpful staff anywhere like this hotel! They are a really great team from reception and dining to cleaning staff. Well done!! A great hotel in the most stunning setting! We have had the perfect stay! Great walks around the lakes and mountain opposite. Literally minutes walk into beautiful Grasmere. Particular thanks to Moses, Aiden and Amber for spoiling us!

The Daffodil is conveniently located for easy access to Grasmere and the nearby lakes. It is ideal for a walking holiday and is surrounded by the beautiful Lakeland fells and lakes. The hotel staff are friendly and the hotel offers a good menu with a range of meals at reasonable prices.

This place was a dream. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is right across the street from Dove Cottage and a short walk into Grasmere to see Wordsworth's grave. There is also a convenient bus stop right across the street if you are traveling without a car. The location is stunning; even a view of the car park provided beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The hiking path around Grasmere Lake was one of the most beautiful trails I've ever hiked. We stopped in Keswick and Windermere as well, and highly preferred the quiet location in Grasmere. The hotel provides excellent food, so you don't have to leave, although there is a great cafe and pub a short walk away. The property was clean, the bed was comfortable, the location was quiet, and the breakfast room was gorgeous! Not a bad view in any room in the place. Absolutely loved this place and plan on returning. Thanks for the remarkable stay!

Relaxing comfortable place by a large lake, easy access to wonderful hikes in the hills. It’s not terribly busy even in the peak of the summer, it’s away from the crowds.

Wonderful hotel and spa with a great aspect across Grasmere. The staff were all friendly, professional and contributed to a lovely stay. Only a short walk to Grasmere village and some decent hikes on the doorstep.

Perfect place to switch off. The food was excellent, not a huge menu to choose from but there was something for everyone. Prices seemed high at first glance, but I can assure you that you definitely get what you pay for. really good. The homemade sourdough bread!!!! amazing, would return just for that. (honestly it is something else) The staff really make this place wonderful. Very attentive and friendly. The room was really nice, really clean and comfortable. The SPA, this was really wonderful, the treatments were exceptional, and the facilities were amazing. Location was great, we walked into Ambleside on the opposite side of the lake and caught the bus back (559) to the hotel after some shopping and a shandy.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff and excellent service. The spa was quiet when we used it after check in and the following morning, which was an added bonus! I would definitely recommend the evening food - this was delicious. Breakfast was a bit basic but other than this, a great stay. We will be back.

Lovely stay at the Daffodil to celebrate our Anniversary. The staff are excellent and very professional especially in the restaurant. Amazing dinners on both evenings, hats off to the Chef, Michelin Star quality. Just one anomaly they is no mirror in the room to dry hair & put on makeup, just one in the bathroom where there are no plugs! A full length mirror would be good. We had a Lake view room which was excellent, more toiletries required as they didn’t get replenished on our 2nd day. Beautiful grounds and surroundings, well situated for the village of Grasmere, a 5 min walk which was ideal. We will certainly be back. Thank you Daffodil.

For a hotel advertised as luxury was a disappointment. No extra touches. Ordinary bedroom no drying facility for coats etc. Dining menu restricted and did not change.

Myself and my partner had an amazing stay here. My partner has a couple of dietary requirements and they couldn’t have been more accommodating.
