A very pleasant welcome became even better when we found we had been upgraded to a larger room and were given a free drink token. Room was large with a very large bed but there was a marked lack of plug sockets & USB ports. We borrowed an extension lead with several sockets from friends. Breakfast, included in cost, was mediocre at best. Parking in the hotel car park was an extortionate added extra despite a 50% reduction for guests. This was especially extortionate when we returned to the hotel on our first night to find the car park full. They made space for us in the staff car park.

Breakfast ok, nothing special, but stops after 0930. Was late back from a local concert so 10am would be better on a weekday. Parking leaps from 8 hours to 24 hours so most people forced to take 24 hours even if the booking is 3pm to 11am next day. Took one of last 2 parking spaces when late back from concert.

Room was very clean and tidy, however did have a smell of damp when you entered. All colleagues were incredibly helpful and friendly. Dinner took close to 50 minutes to arrive with no warning of delay.

The whole room was smelly as we came in, seemed coming from the shower drain? so i had to put soap and run hot water then open our window even at night to dissipate the smell. Food's ok (bfast) and there's variety to choose from. Staff are nice.

I have stayed in Holiday Inn Express countless times and they vary in the quality of comfort and cleanliness. This one was about average. The main problem was housekeeping. Long hairs in the shower. Dark fingerprint on the curtain.Milk sachets partially opened are some examples. breakfast was very busy so always hard to keep on top of things. However,the marmalade and jams which were in large kilner type jars were very messy and not very hygienic. The orange juice was the most watery and tasteless that I have ever encountered. The staff were all pleasant and welcoming,the bed very comfortable. so overall I rate the hotel as average in it's price bracket. Would I stay again?. Probably as it is convenient for me but I will hope for improvement.

The hotel has a large car park but was exceptionally busy as expected. The hotel was very modern and very clean, with the staff service being excellent, friendly and welcoming. We stayed with our dog and staff even gave a “doggy bag”! However, the room carpet was very wet not nice to walk on barefoot which caused the bathroom to be dangerously slippery. Perhaps when they clean carpet don’t use so much water. We were given more towels to make floor safe. Double bed is not very big. As a family room it would have been nice to have more electrical sockets especially these days. On the whole a good experience with a clean modern hotel room and bathroom, shower not exceptionally powerful. Breakfast was adequate with a dog friendly area.

The hotel is in a good location as not far from the M5 and the park and ride for the city is opposite. Also close to restaurants. Good size car park. Really friendly and helpful staff, made us feel very welcome. Very comfortable and clean room. We would definitely stay here again.

The property is fine and the facilities are good. The parking seems safe and is convenient, but the spaces marked for the Holiday Inn were very full. The spaces marked for Miller and Carter were available but it was not clear if it was ok to park there. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful. The bedroom was fine but stank of stale cigarette smoke. It was great the way the door closed to enclose the toilet within the bathroom for extra privacy among roommates. The breakfast was quite busy and the hot options were not restocked very quickly and the baked beans had fully run out. The croissants were burnt. The berries were not fully defrosted. The latte from the machine was not a latte and was frankly undrinkable. But once available, the scrambled egg and bacon were delicious.

Booked a family room for 2 adults and 2 children. Main double very small, sofa bed ( for 2) the size of a single. Most uncomfortable beds I ever used back in agony after what little sleep we had. Noise from corridor and elevator lobby ridiculous. 3 tables usable if you have a dog in the entire bar and restaurant area. But they will charge £25 for you to have the dog. Food very average. Long waits for someone to turn up to serve at the bar. No where to walk the dog. Very poor on the whole.

The room was a little bit on the small side, but it was a standard double so that was expected. It was very nice and clean but the downfall was noise. it was noisy from the road outside but even worse it was noisy from inconsiderate customers woken up and down the corridor talking on mobile phones loudly after midnight. Another customer came back around half past one and starts crashing about in the room next door and talking very loudly had doors banging ended up not getting hardly any sleep. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay and you want to get some sleep go somewhere else because this place is very noisy at night but cleanliness is quite good

Lovely, well-presented hotel with very friendly, helpful staff. Evening food was VERY expensive and breakfast was a buffet, but not a great selection. No plug sockets anywhere near the bed. Even just a USB each side would have been handy!

So me and my daughter came to exeter for a treat and had a pamper night .. it was all going well until a couple come back opposite gone midnight having a full on fight shouting swearing throwing stuff. The night manager was called , as my child was woken up terrified! It all quietened down until 1.10 am when they kicked off again the night manager was not impressed and said to the couple if there’s another disturbance of any kind then you will be ejected from the hotel . I cannot fault the staff as they were amazing and so apologetic, the extent of the couples behaviour meant the hotel gave us a full refund . Honestly I’ve not even had customer service like that in a Hilton !

Very convenient stopover with very comfortable beds. Slight problem with sink which was resolved within minutes of it being reported. Good breakfast with food being topped up all the time and tables cleared and cleaned promptly. All staff were very helpful and impressive.

I cannot fault the staff. They worked so hard during the busiest or times, especially at breakfast when food was running out and people were impatient to wait their turn to be seated. The staff always had a smile on their face. I do think another one or two members of staff would be helpful. Hotel was clean and very welcoming. I begrudge having to pay for parking though in an out of town venue.

Ive stayed here multiple times before and although a basic hotel this time had a rather unpleasant experience with a bald italian gentleman who was working there. I ordered a pint which was served to me in a glass that wasnt a pint glass. I politely said that it wasnt a pint at which point he scowled at me and passed me a pint glass to pour my supposed pint into. It clearly was quite a way below a pint so i asked for him to top it up and then he did so muttering under his breath and then left muttering something about difficult customers to his colleague. I dont mind the error with the glass but to be treated with such contempt and almost as if i was a criminal was frankly disgusting. I would like a call from management to discuss this as it really left a sour taste in my mouth! The hotel was a bit rundown and other staff were very sweet and polite especially the young lady on reception who was great.

First class service by reception staff. We had a very early flight and hotel happy to arrange a 4am breakfast. Always use this hotel for early flights from Exeter airport. Highly recommended

Awesome value for money, incredibly kind and helpful staff. Good breakfast included into the price. We really enjoyed our stay there. The location is not the best but this is what we intentionally chose for available parking and lower price. Also I respect the pet-friendly hotels. Even though this time we were travelling without our dog, but I did notice that the hotel was pet-friendly and it making it even better.

Lovely welcome, comfortable stay. Good night's sleep, extra pillows, very clean, hot shower, spacious room with good size TV, iron and hairdryer. Great and plentiful breakfast. Close to Park and Ride and buses very frequent going to town centre and airport on a loop. Nos 4, 4a and 44. Parking at Holiday Inn Express is paid and costs 5pounds for 24hrs. Close to M5 for quick access for onward journey. Good value for money in comparison with other hotels and bed and breakfast. Staff very helpful and friendly even when under pressure (hotel was very busy at breakfast). Will definitely use again. Never disappointed with this hotel chain. Hope they maintain their standards.

Can’t beat a Holiday Inn Express for value. Easter weekend so they gave the guests free parking! Class act! Was busy with families and young kids but remarkably, the families respected the guests and kept the kids to a minimum disruption while allowing the kids to be kids!! I love Holiday Inn free breakfasts but this one was different. Running out of things constantly (eggs) and the juice machine was water with a color in it. Orange and apple juice was tasteless. But that’s the negatives. The staff were great and the location was good, with a Miller and Carter almost in the same parking lot. Safe and a nice area close to the freeway.

We had a evening meal, it was very quiet, however, our meal was terrible, the pie was rock hard, the chips looked ok but were also rock hard, I only ate the peas, and a very little bit of the beef inside the pie, my husband ate all of his because he was very hungry, and he agreed it was not good. I did tell staff member Ben he apologised and he refunded my meal. I only hoped breakfast was going to be better, it was thankfully.

Staff were lovely and helpful and went out of their way to swap our room from the noisy doorway. The extra bed in the room (sofa bed) was utterly diabolical and really should have been thrown onto a skip. Sadly the cooked breakfast (self service) was inedible. The sausages shrivelled, bacon hard with uncooked rind, no mushrooms, tomatoes tasteless and the only egg option (scrambled) tasteless and cold. An embarrassing offering of cold, overcooked and poor quality food. I ended up having thawed out frozen berries with plain yogurt (no honey). I was aware that the hotel is classed as budget (although the price was not since we came for our sons graduation), but you expect, at the very least, an edible breakfast for nearly £300 for a 2 night stay. I will try my best not to return.

Lady at front desk was helpful in changing our room to a pet free room, which was a good start, hotel generally well cleaned, however room had dust build up in areas where the hoover seems to just miss regularly. Dinner and Breakfast is a no go area if you require anything fresh due to any dietary requirements as the general answer is its all pre-made and the chef can't do anything else, so you have to make do with what is given.

Hotel aspect was fine, but evening restaurant was very low key with little in the way of choice. Service was however prompt. Breakfast was a whole new thing with many tables not cleared, hence nowhere to sit. Also food from the buffet was cold as the heat lamps did not keep the food warm. Also the plates were cold for the "hot" breakfast!

The room and bed were up to standard but the bar food offered was well below standard. Not only was the menu lacking in choice but haven chosen the food, it failed to be of an acceptable level and was totally over charged.

Room was fine , lady on the front desk was lovely. Let down by terrible breakfast, most of the cooked was not edible, chewy ,could forgive all that but it was the worst coffee I have ever tasted ! No excuse for bad coffee
