Friendly welcome, ideal for an overnight business stay. Plenty of car parking and big enough spaces for a range rover. Food was good and the doombar were good pints with plenty of froth, a poor bar can serve a flat one, but staff were welcoming with a good pint! Some rooms are motel style with doors directly into the car park, so you may hear the early starters from these. Well situated for Exeter, in particular marsh barton trading estate where i had meetings. I would stay again.

Hotels was in a great location and suited my needs. The room although only a single was spacious and comfortable and equipped with everythihg you needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The fitness suite was great and had the use to it during my stay. The joined restaurant was spot on with a good selection of meals. Even a complimentry drink. Restaurant was busy with large parties but it didnt slow down the service times. Will definitely stay again and recommend to anyone, with families or solo travellers.

Very nicely appointed bedroom. The bathroom was very nice, clean and looked brand new. A sofa in the room meang that we could watch TV without having to sit on the bed. We had dinner at Carriages next door and this was very good quality. Lots of parking around the hotel. An excellent gym with good quality, new equipment. Overall an excellent stay even though we only stayed one night en route to the South West

It was a long walk. some of it without overhead shelter, from the room to the lounge and dining area despite saying we had walking problems. However as they had no lift they did provide a ground floor bedroom.

Great hotel although somewhat quirky! Really excellent restaurant and bar with great service but in a separate building across a small road. The hotel itself is on a number of levels with a number of staircases. Access to the furthest wing is either via the car park or, internally, by using two staircases and a number of corridors. It is all worthwhile, however, as the hotel is really good value for money. Will definitely use it again.

I would call it a motel rather than a hotel, bedroom mirror was so dusty you couldn’t see in it . Bathroom had mould and it was extremely hot in the room, open the windows snd it was too noisy. The whole place need a birthday let’s hope the new owners will do it.

Dirty room, mold in room around patio doors, dried up spilt milk left in fridge. Bathroom sink tap was loose. TV sound did not work initially. A double bed had a massive duvet and cover which was a trip hazard. I did complain to the Assistant Manager who moved us to a room upgrade. I had to request this but it should have been offered anyway as part of the Expedia VIP deal. We were given an extra free drink but basic cleanliness of a room is an absolute must. It is not the first time I have complained about room cleanliness for this hotel and I will not be returning again. Only positive is that Carriages pub/restaurant is very good.

Room was called executive family room. It was very small with no room around the beds. It was also very hot, not helped I'm sure by the size. There was air con to be fair. I wouldn't book again. Disappointed.

Hotel is ok, but very noisy if you get a room facing the very busy road. I’d only stay here again if I was guaranteed a room at the back. Also, there was a strange smell (like stale cooking fat) in the room.

The room is perfect. Quiet, clean, comfortable. Air conditioning, Sky TV, small fridge, kettle etc, fast WIFI, comfortable bed, bath/shower… everything you need. Nice modern, fresh decor too. I’m looking forward to my next stay.

Nicely presented hotel. My room was on the ground floor with a small seating area facing towards the road. At night it was noisy at first, but soon got to sleep. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful. The bar and restaurant were clean and tidy, the staff attentive. Breakfast was adequate.

First room we checked into had mold in it (114) we moved to room 118 which was cleaner. The room was ok. Air con kept switching off and not reaching a cooler temperature. Why put a winter weight duvet on the bed during Summer. We both slept very warm. Breakfast was ok but nowhere near as good as it used to be.

The hotel itself it was good for couple of night stay and i need to admin that the cleanness of the room and hotel itself was high standards. The only negative thing that really bothered me was the rudeness of one of the restaurant staff. She served our table but honestly i need to say that we're really get stress whenever we requested an extra spoon or order an extra dish. We tried to escape the awkwardness and rudeness of the lady. So for the next dinner and lunches we prefered to stay outside of the hotel.

I have been staying in this hotel fairly regularly for some time now, and always received a good level of service. However, just recently have received what I would describe as exceptional service, and therefore wanted to say a big thank you to Tuesday in the restaurant, who went out of her way to say hi and made me feel even more welcome than usual. Also thank you to the reception team, in particular Tanya & Rose who were really friendly and welcoming at check in and check out!

Best thing about this place was the food—really good restaurant! Room was nice. We appreciated the nearby park and ride with s bus going into the town center (we didn’t want to drive there). So we were able to see the Cathedral area.

The Devon Hotel is very easy to find - located just off a roundabout (with excellent Teslas charging nearby). Perfect for travelling off to the Torbay area.Although near the road, the hotel is quiet. Lots of parking, but does get busy in the week evenings. Superb breakfast and really helpful friendly staff. Comfortable bed, lots of hot water and everything working as expected. So I was extremely satisfied with my stay and would happily rebook if I visit this area again.

Great hotel in a good location, AC nice and cold in warm weather and a comfy bed and room. Dinner next door was good as well as breakfast which was fresh and hot! Strongly recommend this hotel Only negative was getting out which was on a busy roundabout which needed timing and a quick right foot!!

Air conditioning was very welcome during a hot few days in Devon. Comfortable rooms and a good nights sleep was well received. The hotel is ideally placed for access into Exeter and in easy reach of the motorway. A nice bar but could do with more options of ales and the food looked nice even though we didn’t eat at the hotel. The only downside really was sitting outside at the tables on a nice summers evening but surrounded by smokers which was off putting for me when I just wanted to enjoy my drink.

Great location with excellent staff at Reception. Our family put on a large function and all aspects of this were excellent. Thank you. So, I heartily recommend The Devon Hotel, except... ...we experienced a couple of wrinkles on the food and beverage side of things. The restaurant staff were great but two nights in a row we were unable to have most of the dessert options we wanted because the kitchen staff had gone home and the ovens were switched off and unusable (just after 9:30 on the Friday evening) or the next night when the kitchen staff had already put the chemicals in to clean the ovens (before 9:30). The coffee is terrible and to be avoided at all costs. Drink the much better instant coffee provided in your room for free. Now we know the pitfalls we will have a perfect stay when we return as we know what to avoid - unless management of course actually corrects these errors, which would be ideal. I have to say , though, with coffee that bad and what must be an obvious pattern in poor sales in aspects of restaurant service, I am not even sure there is anyone actually managing the F&B side of things.

This was a lovely hotel. I really liked the styling of the hotel, and the room we had was a good size and spotlessly clean. Excellent facilities in the room as well, with a choice of shower, a safe and a fridge. We ate both nights in the restaurant. The carvery was superb (don't even think about that chain if you live in Exeter - this puts it in the shade). Quality meat, properly cooked spuds and tasty veg. Plus a full other menu to choose from that was delicious (proper burgers and the garlic mushroom cup starter was great). A proper breakfast, and all round top notch service finished off the stay nicely. And all at great value prices.

My room had a heavy smell of stale cigarette smoke. The smell permeated my bags and clothing. I requested a room change, but none were available. At breakfast on my first morning I had bacon which on closer inspection contained a cyst which was very off putting and led me to question the quality and welfare of the animals used in their supply chain.
