The hotel was great and staff very accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable too. The only down side is the limited parking at the property, we had to park near by which cost £16.50 for 24 hrs!

It's very dated inside and has a bit of a dark vibe to it. My room was very clean but my sink was in the bedroom, not the bathroom and the shower cubicle was so low down I had to kneel to take a shower. The shower was also electric and had quite low pressure (as did the sink taps). Noise from the main road was quite bad due to a mixture of Plymouth boyracers and poor sound proofing. There are BP pulse EV charging bays in the carpark, but they charge £0.79 per kWh (for those that aren't familiar that's apocalyptically expensive) and when I arrived all EV bays were taken up by petrol cars. £15 for breakfast is excessive. I paid over £100 for the night which I think is not good value for money. It's more of a £40-£60 a night kind of hotel. I would add a photo but the Hotels.com app is buggy and doesn't allow me to.

A great value stay. Friendly staff. A nice traditional feel and an impressive hotel building. Nice pool, steam room and sauna. Clean room, furniture a little dated, but I liked that, gave it a vintage feel.

The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the Hoe and 25 Barbican, decent position for town also. Nice spacious room, decent size tv, very comfortable bed and good shower. Good room cleaning every day. No complimentary water, would have been nice. Hotel is quiet inside but a lot of traffic noise from busy road outside. Good swimming pool and sauna. Convenient restaurant attached to hotel, great service both breakfast and in restaurant. I'm gluten free catered for me very well, staff helpful. Only drawback restaurant seemed to only have two gluten free dinners, but food was good. Breakfast very good provided gluten free choices, excellent staff.

Although the carpet looked a bit haggard, the room and bed were very spacious, but the lack of AC during a heatwave was.. rough. Room service hours are very limited as well sadly, but there’s plenty of options for a late night meal nearby in the city centre. The continental breakfast was a bit lacking in terms of options, and some things we ordered (like the porridge and “heated croissants”) tasted very processed/chemical. The pool, gym and sauna/steam room is an amazing bonus with this hotel though.

The staff are very welcoming and polite. The reception area bar and leisure facilities are lovely however once you go beyond the ground floor the hotel is in a poor state. Carpet on the stairs are old and worn. The floor boards throughout the hotel creeks we could hear the person above us all night. Our bedroom carpet was old with ground in dirt so in places was black. The uneven floor boards meant that my bed leant to one side.

Nice from the outside, but needs improvement inside The hotel has a charming exterior and is located in a great spot in Plymouth, which initially gave us high expectations. However, the interior felt a bit tired and in need of maintenance. The room wasn’t as clean or comfortable as we had hoped, and some facilities seemed outdated. With a little more care and attention to detail, this place could really live up to its potential. We hope to see some improvements in the future.

The whole hotel smelt like an ashtray, guests smoking in their rooms as there was a very strong smell of cigarettes, every where. We even complained at the front desk about someone smoking weed somewhere near our room. It was so strong you could smell it in our shower room. They said the cleaner had already made a note of it on their computer, but there was no apology. The place is in need of a lot of money spending on it. Our room was old, very tatty, smelly and dirty. Stains all over the carpet and walls. Nets had a large brown stain on them and so did the skirtings. You would expect this standard from a cheap budget hotel, not one charging these rates. Have nothing positive to say about this hotel. As soon as you walked in you were met with a foul smell of damp in the reception area. We stayed for 2 nights, we did try to book somewhere else as soon as we looked around our room, but there were no other hotels in the area available at short notice. We slept ontop of the bed covers as they did not look or smell clean and we laid all the room towels over the carpet because it was that dirty and stained. Would 100 not recommend this hotel to anyone. Best Western get your hotels sorted out, this is totally unexceptionable. This the second tatty hotel of yours I’ve been too, never EVER again.

Great stay in this hotel and was very happy with every aspect. Single room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed and lovely shower. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming, as were the breakfast staff. Plenty of choice on the menu for breakfast too. Really central location for the Theatre, Pavilions and shopping too, so ideal. Will definitely stay there again if I visit Plymouth.

Because of where it's situated you get road noise, but if you're a light sleeper it's also very difficult to get much sleep before 2am and after 6am because the floors are so creaky. Any time someone moved around on the floor above, went past my door or up the nearby stairs, I was awake. Unavoidable in an old building like this, but something to bear in mind.

Our hotel room was the worst we have EVER stayed in! We looked through the window at a bank of air con units which kept us awake all night with their constant throbbing noise even with the window closed. On top of that there was a squeaky fire door in the corridor right next to our room which was constantly being opened by late night revellers. I would not wish this room on my worst enemy!!!!!!!

Staff were great, nice breakfast. The only issue we had was how it the room was, it was unbearable. No one slept. Windown opened only a cpuple of inches and a fan was provided but did nothing.

Breakfast was very good and prepared on order. the hotel reception was great and the hotel is clean and nice. unfortunately we had booked a "small room" as we were just staying 1 night. we had no problem with the size of the room and it was very clean. the problem was that room 309 and I can guess all the room on that floor and on that side of the hotel have a sloping roof with low rafters exactly where one has to walk to get into bed. they could pad them as they are really a big hazard and I felt not safe, the risk of banging my head was really considerable. this was not mentioned in the booking system otherwise we would have chosen another type of room.

As with other reviews, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is looking a bit tired in places, but was very clean. There's a bit of noise during the day from the road outside, motorbikes with the baffles removed, but the bed was really comfortable, and I slept like a log, and I'm a light sleeper. I only had a simple breakfast, as I'm gluten intolerant, but the staff catered for me excellently. I would happily stay there again

This property was unique in our tour of Britain as the only hotel that demanded a copy our passports. We find this offensive and intrusive. We had already passed through HM immigration and customs to enter the UK from NZ. We had paid for our room. Reception was officious and hostile. I suggest the owners take their investment and put it into prison services, they have no understanding or instinct for hospitality.

Most of the staff were really friendly and helpful, except for the barman on Friday night who was rude and verbally aggressive making it clear we were wasting his valuable time. The bedroom/bathroom was clean and spacious.

Some things were great. Staff were very helpful. Especially when l had some bad news. They were very understanding.Only thing that let it down was the condition of the bedding. Saw that the duvet cover was not in good it had splits in three different places. The pillows both of them were very hard. Once outside the room the wear and of the carpets on the stairs not good to look at. Breakfast was lovely. One young lady at breakfast was really helpful. But l will be going back in March.
Some things were great. Staff were very helpful. Especially when l had some bad news. They were very understanding.Only thing that let it down was the condition of the bedding. Saw that the duvet cover was not in good it had splits in three different places. The pillows both of them were very hard. Once outside the room the wear and of the carpets on the stairs not good to look at. Breakfast was lovely. One young lady at breakfast was really helpful. But l will be going back in March.

Needed a place to stay as we were going to see a play. I had stayed here many years ago and knew it was in a good location, just a few minutes walk to the theatre. Single rooms, both comfortable and clean with all the necessary things provided. I was particularly pleased with the fact that they had provided a rubber bath mat in the shower as it is easy to slip if elderly or not careful. We had a meal and breakfast at the hotel. Reasonable price and quantity. Could not fault the quality. I would like to make a comment about the staff. All, at the reception, bar, restaurant and the housekeeping staff were polite, helpful and show that the selection/training had been done well. I have never really come across poor staff in hotels but the staff here were a credit to their employers and Plymouth. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel whether you come for business or pleasure.

The hotel was lovely, the staff were lovely too the only downside was the hotel is on a busy 3 way junction which was noisy, especially with motorbikes revving their engines while waiting for the lights to change!! This was a pain at night, but take earplugs and its fine or if you are deaf like my husband, just take out your hearing aids out! Otherwise it was a lovely hotel, convenient to town and the Barbacan. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again

This is a clean, very friendly and ideal location in Plymouth, close to the city centre and the waterfront. As we were attending a performance at the Plymouth Pavillions, the location is ideal being just a 2 minute walk away.

I booked two rooms for one night so that my sister and I could see Squeeze in concert at the Plymouth Pavilions. The venue is right across from the hotel, just a quick walk through the car park so its location could not be bettered. It is also very walkable to Drakes Circus. For the price we paid, with breakfast, we will certainly use this hotel again. No complaints other than a lot of the car parking spaces are very narrow. Other than that we were very happy.

The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the Hoe and 25 Barbican, decent position for town also. Nice spacious room, decent size tv, very comfortable bed and good shower. Good room cleaning every day. No complimentary water, would have been nice. Hotel is quiet inside but a lot of traffic noise from busy road outside. Good swimming pool and sauna. Convenient restaurant attached to hotel, great service both breakfast and in restaurant. I'm gluten free catered for me very well, staff helpful. Breakfast is awful...food been heat up as hotter on outside than inside...sausages were slimy...was concerned about food poisoning as myself and kids had each taken a bite but left it at that...waitresses proudly announced they don't do cappuccino just filter coffee...very 1980's...!!

Good location, Friendly staff. The pool, steam room and other facilities are well maintained. Parking was reasonably priced. The brasserie was closed at short notice, which cuased a minor issue for us. I would stay there again.

Fabulous room, clean and comfortable. The worst meal ever in Steves Brasserie, the (lone) waiter redeemed it by being lovely and replacing my dinner with something edible. Overall I thought the hotel was excellent value, all the staff were professional and personable. Probably would use a different restaurant, but recommend the hotel.

The position of the hotel is convenient for town and only 10 minutes walk to The Hoe. I was there 3 night and for two out of three of the breakfasts I had to find a member of staff to order breakfast. They didn't come to take the order. The hotel is noisy with traffic and street noise though due to it's position. This is the 3rd time we have stayed at this hotel. This time we booked a family room with a bed settee, which was situated on the Plymouth Pavillions side of the hotel, which was a lot quieter than the road at the front of the hotel (we don’t have a main road where we live, so not used to the traffic noise) . It was nice to have air conditioning in our room this time, although the unit could have done with a service, to make it more efficient. Staff were cheerful and helpful as ever, and even managed to get us an early check in. We will be back :)
