Really liked this hotel. The customer service was beautiful. I can’t remember the last time I stayed in a hotel which such good customer service, and I stay in a lot of hotels. Room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Nice ambience in the bar area and a lovely spa. Excellent hotel gym.

Stunning country castle style hotel. Rooms finished to a very high standard. Staff were wonderfully attentive, seemed genuinely pleased to help and proud of their establishment. Packed with history and a real oasis of peace and comfort. Afternoon tea and breakfast were delicious with a wide choice of options. I felt that the dinner option I had was a bit “nouveau cuisine”, lots on the plate but not much there. But what was there was very well prepared. Spa was very pleasant, although a bit of a shame that the steam room was out of order, as well as the lift to the spa. Will be staying again, it’s not cheap, but you pay for what you get.

Not quite sure it meets 5 star standard. Room space is lovely, plush and beds super comfy. Bathroom quite basic but shampoo etc provided. Spa ok but could with refurb now as facilities dated. One if the steam rooms out of order. Large glass door smashed and awaiting repair. Loungers by pool were soggy and stank. Lifts up to the spa all out of order Breakfast was the highlight. Ok hotel but nothing special.

The hotel is a stunning building. Even the public areas feel luxurious and comfortable. The room was spacious and clean. Our dog had been provided with everything he needed and could be included in everything except the spa. The food was excellent and so was the service. The one negative was how busy the pool area was in the spa. There were far fewer loungers than guests making the experience not as enjoyable as it could have been. The drinks service at the pool was extremely slow which was surprising as all other service in the hotel was spot on.

Really liked this hotel. The customer service was beautiful. I can’t remember the last time I stayed in a hotel which such good customer service, and I stay in a lot of hotels. Room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Nice ambience in the bar area and a lovely spa. Excellent hotel gym.

An odd mix. Must have spent huge amounts of capital on restoration and a wonderful spa. I can only imagine the financing needed. To make it work they are cutting serious corners with the spa not the hotel being the focus. Great food in restaurants, great spa, lovely to walk around. Breakfast solid. Service was very spotty. A lot of staff saying ‘I think’, ‘it might be’, ‘I dunno’. Seemed very very young, obviously not trained. Really not a 5 star hotel in any sense. The room - stayed in a suite. Was ok. Very small ‘king bed’. Black hairs on bath. Room service - a joke. Could only order a cheese or ham sandwich after 9.30. Had to persuade the gentleman on reception to do it. He was also clearing the bar, answering phone and making food. Said he needed to ‘rustle around’ for some ham. £14 each, could have bought better at a Tesco express. Charging - be careful. People in gas cars park in the charging spots. Only 3. Staff shrugged. Had to wait 24 hours to get a spot. The biggest issue was health and safety. Bit of a death trap. Entered our room, walked outside and the step collapsed. Previous reviewers have said the same. I fell flat. Stairs outside room have low ceiling with no mind your head sign. Smack almost knocked myself out. Told staff three times to put up a sign. Was still not there on departure. Again, spa fantastic, hotel nothing of note,

Lovely building. Check-in was easy and nice to have mulled wine whilst sorting the admin. Clean beautiful modern room (luxury room booked). There was a group of us staying and we had slightly mixed room cleaning - one couple in next door room had chocolate gifts left on the pillow, we did not. Turn down service didn't close curtains. Just small things that would be easy to improve upon. They also print out a A5 card with the weather for the next 24hrs and some other information. To do this every day for every room seems very environmentally unfriendly and a waste of paper and ink. Lovely staff and food. Gym excellent with peleton bikes.

The hotel is exceptionally clean and the rooms are very sepecious and furnished with top of the range furniture and high quality bath products.All the staff are hospital from the reception to house keeping.I have nothing to fault the staff and the hotel.

This was a last minute booking as a stopover before our ferry the next morning. We found the place on Hotels.com and were very pleased with the accomodation on our arrival. A beautiful historic hotel, quiet and relaxing. We travelled with our two dogs and were given a courtyard room that allow dogs. Room was very clean and comfortable. Dogs were provided with beds, bowls and some foodie treats. Hotel Restaurant food very good and the spa / pool area also good.

The suite was superb, the hotel was lovely. However, the general running of the hotel needs work. There were several things that were not great during our stay, and were not remedied. A few things broken/not working in the room. Room amenities listed a mini bar - this had nothing in it, and a safe - this was not working. This is a lovely hotel but does not live up to the 5 stars and for the cost of a suite, I would expect better service. With more care & attention, and more thought, it could be amazing.

Room.was great, really spacious for a family, comfortable and fantastic bathroom products. Our issue was we were in ground floor room and an active family above us with bouncing feet into the early hours rattling the light fittings...resulting in a restless night sleep. Think about changing the light fittings or putting rubber gromits on fixing to reduce the rattling due to people above.

Great service from staff and great facilities. We especially enjoyed the spa and our very comfortable stable room on the upper floor of the hotel with lovely courtyard view. It was my birthday treat and Borringdon even had a card and miniature bottle of gin as a welcome gesture, which was much appreciated.

No table for diner available at all. Had to make a reservation for breakfast….. when they wanted me to have breakfast, not when I needed to have breakfast as I had an appointment to go to. Poor service, as a guest I had to work around the hotel…. At £600 per night…. It should be the other way around…

He was also clearing the bar, answering phone and making food. Said he needed to ‘rustle around’ for some ham. £14 each, could have bought better at a Tesco express. Charging - be careful. People in gas cars park in the charging spots. Only 3. Staff shrugged. Had to wait 24 hours to get a spot. The biggest issue was health and safety. Bit of a death trap. Extremely good service from all the staff. Tom was especially helpful when my wife lost a bracelet after her spa treatment. Completely took ownership and went above and beyond. We stay away in hotels 10-20 times a year and Tom's response was the best I have ever encountered.

Went to celebrate our engagement and the hotel staff were amazing. Made us feel extra special, we’re super kind and helpful. The hotel was stunning. Lots about the history and the modern upgrades (spa, facilities, etc) were well entangled.

The hotel is a stunning building. Even the public areas feel luxurious and comfortable. The room was spacious and clean. Our dog had been provided with everything he needed and could be included in everything except the spa. The food was excellent and so was the service. The one negative was how busy the pool area was in the spa. There were far fewer loungers than guests making the experience not as enjoyable as it could have been. The drinks service at the pool was extremely slow which was surprising as all other service in the hotel was spot on.

We often come to this venue for our wedding anniversary as we did again on this occasion and as usual the everything, food, service, hospitality, the grounds exceptional that’s why we come here. This was a last minute booking as a stopover before our ferry the next morning. We found the place on Hotels.com and were very pleased with the accomodation on our arrival. A beautiful historic hotel, quiet and relaxing. We travelled with our two dogs and were given a courtyard room that allow dogs. Room was very clean and comfortable. Dogs were provided with beds, bowls and some foodie treats. Hotel Restaurant food very good and the spa / pool area also good.

No table for diner available at all. Had to make a reservation for breakfast….. when they wanted me to have breakfast, not when I needed to have breakfast as I had an appointment to go to. Poor service, as a guest I had to work around the hotel…. At £600 per night…. It should be the other way around…

Stunning country castle style hotel. Rooms finished to a very high standard. Staff were wonderfully attentive, seemed genuinely pleased to help and proud of their establishment. Packed with history and a real oasis of peace and comfort. Afternoon tea and breakfast were delicious with a wide choice of options. I felt that the dinner option I had was a bit “nouveau cuisine”, lots on the plate but not much there. But what was there was very well prepared. Spa was very pleasant, although a bit of a shame that the steam room was out of order, as well as the lift to the spa. Will be staying again, it’s not cheap, but you pay for what you get.

Great place to visit, lovely hotel and spa. Gave a 2 star rating as had an awful experience on last day. I have Coeliac disease and on my last day my supposedly gluten free breakfast was not. 2hrs into driving home had to stop off and throw up in a garden centre’s public loos. I’m still recovering from the event. Hotel comms post this has been poor, emailed them twice but did not even receive a response. Not what I would expect from a 5 star hotel.

The hotel is beautiful and service was brilliant. Our room was lovely and spacious. The spa is lovely and sauna and steam room are great, we stayed on a Friday in January and it was quite busy - couldn’t get a sun lounger at times. The prices for food and drinks are quite expensive but what you expect nowadays. We did have a pizza for £19 (which wasn’t that great but rectified by a member of staff). The breakfast was really nice. Will definitely be back.
