Room was great , staff very friendly and helpful bar was a little pricey Also didn't notice where I could have a evening meal , and ended up with a parking ticket which having needed to write my registration down for my stay I thinking the hotels had a parking deal for patrons

Stayed with my husband for the night. Warm welcome upon arrival and easy check in. Bedroom was nice and quiet and up high as requested which was great. Room was warm through the night but air con worked well. Bar staff need to be better trained as I requested a Bacardi and coke and it was server in a pint glass! Breakfast £16 pp so didn’t eat here. Always stay in this area of york as close to centre. We used Q parking at the Barbican and it worked out at £14 for 24 hours and was only a 5 minute walk.

Check in took far too long as your system was apparently running slow. The bar was manned by reception staff which may have been the cause for delay. Waiting time at the bar, service slow. Out room was on the 2nd floor & very noisy due to drunk women in the adjacent room. Soap dispenser pumps not working, it took 5 minutes to get a decent amount out. TV set to Babestation every time we put the TV on changed channel. Breakfast was good, staff efficient. We arrived early so we were OK but there was no seating at 9.30am. We have been returning customer to Holiday Inn but its time for a change.

The staff were all excellent. Very friendly and helpful. The property is a little older than most Holiday Inns I've been to but very comfortable. Breakfast was good. I was disappointed that catering in the evening was very limited - my own fault for not checking when booking. Plenty of eating options close by

Location was great but property is tired and rundown Rooms are small, the beds are small and uncomfortable. Only paid parking available almost a block away. Overcrowded with too many bus tours. Not a good value for the cost.

Very clean room and facilities. Breakfast was not very good, whilst the food was great, the service was awful. Not enough staff to cope with the guests. Continually running out of food, cups, sauces, tea bags etc etc, and tables that needed cleaning were stacking up as guests were pouring in.

Quick and helpful staff greeted us on arrival. Got to our room and we noticed that there was a strong BO like smell the bathroom. On investigation we could see that the bottom of the shower curtain was mouldy. We informed the staff on the desk and they told us that they would sent up someone from house keeping. Nobody came to our room. We ended up taking the shower curtain down and leaving in the corridor outside our room. The smell reduced slightly but still persisted so we thought that the smell was coming from the drains…… Oh, and the bed was not suitable for two average size adults unless you like playing sardines

Hotel in a good location but had a problem with the shower tap. The hot tap was very hard to turn, informed reception and they informed us they will send a guy to fix it in the afternoon. On our return from our trip we asked at the reception if the shower tap was fixed and was told the guy had been to fix it.. Came to use the shower following day and same issue. Also black mould growing in the corner of the shower tray..

No one cleaned the room or replaced towels. We had to call for the. To pick up the trash and provide towels. Very loud construction that shakes the walls. Messed them about it and never heard anything from them.

Some examples include- bathroom and room needed to greater attention to detail- with regards to upkeep. There were questionable black marks near the grout in the shower area, a sticky work surface area where the tea/coffee maker was placed.

When I first got into the room (107) I noticed a loud whirring noise outside. On investigation it was coming from a bank of fans directly below the window. I went to reception at around 19:45 to ask of we could be moved, and was told no as there were no other rooms available. The gentleman on reception said it wouldn't be a problem as the fan is an extract fan for the kitchen a d would go off atbaround 21:15. The fans didn't go off and were operating all noghtband into the morning. and ate still.on now. I and my family have hardly slept as a result of the noise.

We stayed on the first floor of the Holiday Inn and our window overlooked the large air conditioning units outside which made the room very noisy. The hotel offered to move us to a different room for the second night but the first night we found it very noisy.

We booked a double with a sofa bed. I wouldn't recommend it for a family of four. The end of the sofa bed touched the side of the other bed, so the whole room was just bed.

Mixture of experience. Staff were efficient and friendly. The hotel was clean and had a fairly nice lounge area. The downfall of our stay was the fairly cold temperature in the room caused by a draught coming through the window. This also let in noise and we frequently heard the less sober individuals leaving the Weatherspoons opposite. We felt the room was quite small as we used the sofa bed which meant the two beds took up almost all of the space in the room.

We stayed in a family room and to be honest it was very small. The kids shared a sofa bed which filled the whole floor and there was barely any room to move around. It wasn't cheap so this was a little disappointing. The 1st night we stayed in room 107 and the aircon extraction units were right outside our window which made it quite difficult to sleep because of the noise and vibration. The staff were more than happy to move us to another room tho for our 2nd night. On that note, the staff were all great! Very pleasant and helpful everywhere in the hotel. The breakfast was mediocre. All in all i expected a little better for the price we paid.

We walked from the train station, as we had minimal luggage and it took only twenty minutes to arrive at the hotel. Check in was easy. Staff were very helpful and friendly, especially in the dining area. Daily breakfast was plentiful and tasty.The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The location of the hotel was close to all of the many attractions that York has to offer. The area was fairly quiet in the evening, even though a Wetherspoons pub was opposite. Would definitely visit again!

OK stay for one night nice breakfast staff check in took too long. my luggage got stuck in luggage store on check out and it took 30 minutes to get it out which delayed my departure. Hotel paid for a taxi for me though which was nice.

The room was fine, nothing at all wrong with it. Breakfast service was woeful. Breakfast is self serve buffet but you ask for certain items like poached eggs or well done (crispy) bacon. Sat down, got a few bits ourself and asked for poached eggs for the wife and I. She also wanted crispy bacon as the stuff in self serve was limp and greasy. 20 minutes later, the server walked past our table with what looked to be our eggs and bacon, giving it to a couple who just sat down - it was gratefully received by them. I pointed out the mistake, and was told there was no mistake, ours would be a few minutes. 10 minutes later we enquired again, to be told "a few minutes". 45 mins after the original ask, my wife got her eggs, and I asked when mine would come, and the wife's crispy bacon, I was told "a few minutes". 5 mins later my eggs came, but no bacon for the wife. We asked again and 10 mins later, some limp bacon that looked less well cooked than the bacon you collect yourself arrived. We politely said the bacon wasn't crispy and she went away again. We complained to the manager (along with 3 other couples who'd had similar experiences), and got promised remedial bacon. Check in staff need to be taught customer service skills . Two men who dealt with us on arrival and departure were very rude. I would never return to this hotel again however it wouldn’t put me off all holiday inns as I’ve stayed at a few around the country and they’ve been fine.
Check in staff need to be taught customer service skills . Two men who dealt with us on arrival and departure were very rude. I would never return to this hotel again however it wouldn’t put me off all holiday inns as I’ve stayed at a few around the country and they’ve been fine.

Check in took far too long as your system was apparently running slow. The bar was manned by reception staff which may have been the cause for delay. Waiting time at the bar, service slow. Out room was on the 2nd floor & very noisy due to drunk women in the adjacent room. Soap dispenser pumps not working, it took 5 minutes to get a decent amount out. TV set to Babestation every time we put the TV on changed channel. Breakfast was good, staff efficient. We arrived early so we were OK but there was no seating at 9.30am. We have been returning customer to Holiday Inn but its time for a change.

The hotel itself is very barebones and left some to desire in terms of comfort, but I must credit the staff, specifically Tia, for making the stay wonderful. My wife came down with a rash, not due to the cleanliness, and Tia went above and beyond to ensure that not only did my wife get clean, hypoallergenic sheets and towels, but asked about her as often as possible, took legitimate concern over her and truly cared how she was Tia is absolutely wonderful, an amazing person to have on your staff.

We walked from the train station, as we had minimal luggage and it took only twenty minutes to arrive at the hotel. Check in was easy. Staff were very helpful and friendly, especially in the dining area. Daily breakfast was plentiful and tasty.The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The location of the hotel was close to all of the many attractions that York has to offer. The area was fairly quiet in the evening, even though a Wetherspoons pub was opposite. Would definitely visit again!

Very clean room and facilities. Breakfast was not very good, whilst the food was great, the service was awful. Not enough staff to cope with the guests. Continually running out of food, cups, sauces, tea bags etc etc, and tables that needed cleaning were stacking up as guests were pouring in.

Very disappointing stay. I will start with the good points, unfortunately there aren’t many. Location is good, just a short walk into York. The reception area is modern and clean. Breakfast was ok but cold. Now to the bad points. If you are considering dinner at this hotel… don’t! it was appalling, food cold, tasteless and inedible after waiting over an hour to eat. There is no restaurant and you are expected to eat in the lobby in completely inappropriate seating in the cold. Service was poor had to ask twice for drinks. Check in was mediocre although the staff are polite, they don’t seem experienced or able to offer anything other than handing over room keys. Rooms are tiny if you have booked the family room. Which is double bed plus sofa bed. However, when sofa bed pulled out there was no room to walk around any of the beds, instead having to get in from the end and not side on. Room was not clean, dirty loo and waste left under bed. No bath towels left in room only hand towels. Poor experience overall.

The room was fine, nothing at all wrong with it. Breakfast service was woeful. Breakfast is self serve buffet but you ask for certain items like poached eggs or well done (crispy) bacon. Sat down, got a few bits ourself and asked for poached eggs for the wife and I. She also wanted crispy bacon as the stuff in self serve was limp and greasy. 20 minutes later, the server walked past our table with what looked to be our eggs and bacon, giving it to a couple who just sat down - it was gratefully received by them. I pointed out the mistake, and was told there was no mistake, ours would be a few minutes. 10 minutes later we enquired again, to be told "a few minutes". 45 mins after the original ask, my wife got her eggs, and I asked when mine would come, and the wife's crispy bacon, I was told "a few minutes". 5 mins later my eggs came, but no bacon for the wife. We asked again and 10 mins later, some limp bacon that looked less well cooked than the bacon you collect yourself arrived. We politely said the bacon wasn't crispy and she went away again. We complained to the manager (along with 3 other couples who'd had similar experiences), and got promised remedial bacon. The replacement arrived 1 hours and 20 minutes, again it was limp and undercooked. We got up and left at that point after pointing out again that the bacon was barely cooked. Also no beans at buffet for 25mins we were there, We don't complain unless service is woeful - the breakfast area wasn't even busy.

Another stop in York. Hotel was fine and comfortable. Breakfast not the best, one day we had to order it but next it was out to help yourselves. Sausages and bacon were nasty, no taste and very fatty. Sausage didn’t even taste like sausage and as for the bacon … well say no more

The staff were all excellent. Very friendly and helpful. The property is a little older than most Holiday Inns I've been to but very comfortable. Breakfast was good. I was disappointed that catering in the evening was very limited - my own fault for not checking when booking. Plenty of eating options close by

The hotel was ok . Great location. Just a couple of things that were annoying. The kettle was missing from our room , I used the hotel phone to ring reception but the hotel room phone was broken !!! We asked for a kettle at 5pm we checked out the following morning still no kettle . Not much attention to the customer.
