The car was the main problem. Anything bigger than a small car size you have no hope getting in the car park, no room to manoevre at al which is limited in number of spaces anyway. The alternative is local car park which is £25 a day. This hotel wasn’t cheap so for a few days adds a lot on.

Ideal spot on the edge of the city( 20 min walk to the racecourse)..friendly, helpful staff, excellent breakfast...only slight downside was the small car park on site priced at £15 per night, it was very small & tight but we managed to secure a spot

We stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is lovely and clean. Room is cosy and has everything you need. Only downside is parking. The hotels parking is very limited and the parking options near by aren’t the best if you are staying longer than 1 night. Other than that we had a lovely stay!

Liked Good hotel and quiet, friendly staff, safe, clean, good bar, sometimes noisy during night but quiets down, location was convident, did not like no food during night such as a vending machine might of have bern useful but was ok because breakfast was good. Good visit to York, wouldnt definitely stay agai. Thank you for the pleasant stay

Had all the necessary amenities. However, the room smelt of cigarette’s, and the bathroom smelt of sewage the entire duration of the stay. I dont think the drains were terrific, but it served its purpose. A place to stay close to York centre for a fair price, can’t really argue with the rest of the property. Bedding was clean and fairly comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful all the time.

Lovely hotel, rooms very basic but close to amenities, I would say slightly over priced for quality/cleanliness within room, Only issue I’d say with the room is that cleanliness isn’t 100% there’s was viable dust sitting and also floating off wooden panelling around bed and TV, there was what almost seemed like mould or build up of soap scum around dispensers in shower, obvious had been there for a while, but easily wipeable, drainage also seemed to be an issue but I’m not sure if this could be helped due to age of building ? Staff were absolutely amazing though, nothing was too much of an issue very helpful with organising breakfast, parking and answering any other queries. It’s a shame cleanliness had let it down otherwise a lovely stay

Receptionist was very friendly and helpful. My sister and I had two rooms, got to say, hers was fine, clean and no problems. Mine was okay but the only issue was a dirty drain type of smell that pervaded the room. I reported this as we were leaving

A very basic hotel (although not reflected in the price - £80 for 1 night, plus £21 for breakfast). Staff were friendly and welcoming when we arrived. Location was good and the area was quiet and away from the hustle and bustle. Took us 10 minutes to walk into town. Unfortunately the room was in need of a good clean and some repair. My partner woke up in the morning with bites to his arms and legs. We mentioned this to the receptionist who said that all rooms were checked weekly so it couldn't be bed bugs (we weren't complaining, we just thought we would mention it, but the defensiveness made us believe it might be a regular complaint). It was obvious the room had not been thoroughly cleaned in a while as the carpet could have done with a good clean and there was dust cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. There was no air-con in the room and the window was sealed shut. The door to the bathroom would not close and had no lock. We will not be staying there again.

Stayed at IBIS hotel York : Slow draining sink and bathroom, floods the floor when showering. Bath mat only available if requested through reception. Stained bathroom/shower very dirty. Bathroom lock doesn't work with broken handle and broken window handle. Ventilation panel In the room blocked with dust and lint. Very thin walls, can hear everything from the neighbours.

Hotel appears to have kept the areas in the communal areas very nice and new but the room was a disappointment. Especially the bathroom. There was mound in and around the shower fittings. The door hinges were rusty and the shower itself was terrible! No pressure at all. I was expecting more, considering the foyer, restaurant and other areas looking so nice and well kept.

Arrived from Glasgow on Thursday 1st time in this hotel , hotel is lovely and very clean. Was given room 311 , facing car park. Was up till after 4am with the noise from the fans outside, was awful!! Sounded like it was vibrating through the bed with the droning noise. At 7.am approx I could hear a staff member banging a room door asking for room inspection then within seconds fire alarm went off , obviously not staff members fault but they were right on whatever the problem was. Went to reception explained problem with fans or air con units whatever it is and girl said wasn't a problem, was moved to now face side street and it was silent thank god. Girl dealt with the problem swiftly and we stayed there another 2 nighta. Still gave 5 stars as was no way the hotels fault and loved our stay, would definitely return.

The hotel has recently been refurbished and was lovely and clean. Unfortunately, on the days we stayed the air conditioning had failed and it was on two of the hottest days reaching temps of 32. This lead to very unpleasant nights with very limited sleep.

The staff were so very helpful and obliging. Rooms were great for what we needed. One of our rooms was very cold. We did tell reception a few times. Each time they tried to remedy it but it was still very cold. The manager did give some refund. It was a very good stay and we wish that we’d found you sooner as this was probably the last time we’ll visit York for some time as this visit was for our daughter’s graduation. Many thanks for helping us to make it so memorable.

We have stayed here in a few rooms previously. The place had been renovated and only reopened a few months ago. The rooms have definitely got smaller, more compact then our previous rooms, asked staff incase I was imaging it and was advised with the renovation there were more rooms on most floors so smaller rooms. Parking was packed

Lovely refurb but rooms are dark. First room the window faced a wall and there was little to no natural light. The lighting in the room is more mood lighting - there is no main ceiling light. Fine unless you need to do some work. I got moved to another room with more light although was still a bit gloomy. Shame as it put me off staying again. Everything else was great.

Clean room lovely designed hotel. However, tv didn’t work had to get help from reception, then the shower was cold, when tried to adjust it the knob came off in my hand, had to go reception again. Also, small window in room with internal walkway on other side and so brightly lit all night it was like daylight coming in around curtain so bright. Would not want ground floor room by choice, shame as room let hotel down

The Hotel is currently closed. Awful communication from the hotel - if we hadn’t reached out after seeing reviews on google when we were checking directions then we would not have been told. The hotel failed to arrange us an alternative - they stopped responding to emails and didn’t provide a number we could reach them on.

Really wonderful hotel and even better that it was such good value for money for York. The rooms were so clean and stylish and we particularly loved how soft the towels and bedding was. Receptionist was super friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back and would stay in other Ibis Styles in the future.

I could nitpick lots of aspects of this hotel but as it’s just reopened after renovation and has some snagging issues (I bet I could count 30-40 and that’s just what I saw myself) but here I’ll stick to the most important. Firstly despite explaining my mobility issues at booking and arriving on crutches the manager checked us in and assigned us a room were there was a long corridor and stairs away from the lifts, he didn’t even mention or ask if this would be an issue. Then on our second night the disabled toilet near reception I trapped my thumb in the faulty door lock cutting it, the toilet roll holder fell and hit me on the head, hand wash placed meaning you can’t use the tap properly and almost got trapped in due to sticking door. Mentioned it to reception and passed a message to the manager, when he saw us the next day he begrudgingly and dismissively apologised after us mentioning it being too preoccupied with titivating crumbs at breakfast and then talking to contractors in reception. Various other finish issues were obvious but I can look past those as the hotel is lovely and a great location just outside the city near the station with great public transport links. Just the execution was lacking and took the shine off what should have been a fabulous stay. The reception staff jay and elana were great as was the staff at breakfast. The breakfast buffet was well stocked, fresh and delicious.

Next time I won’t book for breakfast and purchase elsewhere. We enjoyed our stay, close walking distance to York centre (15 min). Be mindful that the car park is only small and is £10 per night, (in the unlikely event there is a space),£17.50 overnight at the nearby NCP or as we did parked for free on Albermarle RD just a couple of streets from the hotel. We will stay again.

Staff we’re really amazing , super helpful, hotel and accommodation all really clean, can be noisy at night as it is close to a lot of clubs, we stayed on a Saturday night and we had some unruly neighbours, but would highly recommend especially the breakfast, yum, parking can be an issue as car park is a squeeze, we only have a smallish car so not a problem.

When i booked via Expedia i forgot to book a breakfast, so i asked for a breakfast. The charge would be £40. (As opposed to £8) A / i felt that this was excessive B / not prepared to discuss or negotiate Do styles NOT want customers. I was always told about customer service. Customers are important in a service business

Some confusion with my booking. I had booked 2 nights but on separate bookings. As the hotel had only opened after refurb there were no instructions in the room for safe or hotel info. The bar offered two lagers. I suggested they should put Guinness on draft. Breakfast self help very good

The staff were helpful & nothing was too much trouble & they are a credit to their management. Breakfast choice was excellent especially with the fresh fruit pieces, nuts & seeds available. Hot breakfast was well cooked & tasty. The hotel was clean, as was our room, but the mattress supplied was a little too hard for my choice. Overall a very convenient & reasonably quiet location - A walk into the city is very doable, if there are no mobility issues & I would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again.

Staff were super helpful and would provide us with the amenities we needed once we asked. Staff were also friendly and kind. The breakfast was really good; would've appreciated some plant-based options for Muslims/vegans such as vegan sausages, but there was a variety for breakfast options. The room was clean and the bathroom was clean too, no grout. The TV was a smart TV too so we could login to our Netflix and watch some shows. They even helped fix the connectivity issues when we struggled to login once we asked at the reception. I appreciate that someone was always there as a point of contact/assistance at the reception. Great experience overall! And it's near the city centre.
