Elevators are woeful. For a ginormous hotel there are two elevators (one was out of order) Took us FIFTEEN minutes to get to the lobby from the fifth floor with our luggage trolley. Every elevator was stuffed full at checkout time. Rooms are great as always, breakfast is fantastic. There was a lady selling Hilton timeshare which I didn’t like

Although I seen a lot of reviews prior to our trip about their renovations, ALL rooms are supposed to be updated now unless they are being worked on, their wasnt any noise that affected us with the construction going on, they were very nice and the complimentary drinks in the evening and breakfast in the morning was very much appreciated The pool was still closed which was unfortunate but after their remodel we look forward to returning as this is a beautiful hotel with friendly and helpful staff!

Hotel was just ok. I would not stay again however due to what I feel is a deceptive practice. This is a hotel in new braunfels and has a huge parking lot. Not a covered garage and they see fit to charge a parking fee? The booking on the website did not disclose at the time of my booking. Don’t know if that is hotels.com fault or not but I showed them screen caps and it’s no where on there. In the end, it’s 20 dollars but seems like a shady practice to charge a parking fee that has no tangible benefit and is not disclosed anywhere

I attended a three day convention recently at the hotel. Our room on the 8th floor was wonderful; quiet, comfortable and dark. The breakfast was amazing; I loved the omelets and there were a lot of other items too. I also attended all the happy hours which were crowded but the bartenders were wonderful. The only problem was the construction noise on Friday. The staff really tried to make it for it by offering us extra award points and being very welcoming. But it was still hard to talk with the loud construction going on the first floor. And the pool was closed which wasn't a big issue for me. Hopefully the construction will end soon as it was a nice setting for a conference or convention. Try to ask for a room for a higher floor. Floor 8 was perfect.

Arrived at 5pm and the room type we reserved wasn’t ready and wouldn’t be for ‘at least another hour’ so we were given a room with smaller beds. The lobby is nice but the rooms are dingy. Carpet is dirty. Hair all over bathroom floor when we checked in. Dead roach on the carpet. The omelet breakfast is the best thing about the place. PS - $12 a day to park in their huge parking lot?! Apparently they’re under renovation but they did not notify me of this until the day prior, and we had prepaid.

Bathroom shower wall needs to be replaced in room 226. Shower Wall and tub has mold. The overall cleanliness of the room was poor as we found candy along the bedroom floor. Also hair in the bathroom at the base of the bathtub. The breakfast was fantastic and the front desk workers were great. Just for $400 a night you would expect a lot cleaner room.

The hotel needs to be renovated. We had a smell to our room, the wall paper was peeling and AC issues. I couldn’t connect to internet the whole time I was there at the hotel. They fixed the AC and just sprayed stuff for the smell. They were quick to try and fix the problems. The breakfast staff and front staff did a great job. Happy hour was great too.

Went to San Marcos to visit our daughter who is a student, it was just a single night stay. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, albeit a bit dated. It wasn't run down, just a little dated. Evening hospitality was nice for a drink and relaxing after a long drive. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good, with an omelette bar. This hotel will be our go-to from now on when visiting San Marcos.

Every thing was okay but stains on both sides of couch cushion. And tip/hole in chair. Seemed odd to overlook to replace or repair for an Embassy Suire Hotel. Also refrigerator has No freezer section. Housekeeping staff were very nice. Overall experrience was Good, but wouldnt had been very happy if we paid the $300 per night rate for this room, especially being a San Marcos Hotel.

Very large and nice room, but the AC was not working at it was very hot in the room. By the time we knew it was after 11pm. Technician came right up and worked on it for about 30 min with noticeable improvement but it still didn’t get really cooled off, and the vent in the bathroom was completely non functional, so very uncomfortable in there.

The first night in my stay, the AC didn’t work. The second night the toilet began to randomly back flow and flood my room. I tried to call the front desk 3 times but the automated system said no one was available. There were 3 people at the desk when I came down. Maintenance showed up and quickly fixed and cleaned up the flooded bathroom. I was comped a night of parking for the inconvenience, so that was nice. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable, but the atmosphere of the hotel was decent. Likely will not rebook. The parking lot was as large as a mall parking lot, so to charge for parking seemed extreme to begin with.

My children and I greatly enjoyed this property. It gave us easy access to everything we wanted to do! We were within 10 minutes of shopping, entertainment, and dining. The breakfast was delicious, and they even stayed open later than advertised to accommodate guests. The evening reception offered a variety snacks and had a little something for everyone. The room was clean and the area was quiet. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay!

Check in was horrible. We came after the check in time and stood in one of two lines. They kept calling from the other line and bypassed us 3 times. We finally had to change lines. When we got to the counter, 20 minutes later, they said we would have to take a king room because they didn't have any queen rooms. Our stay was over $500 for 2 nights and had been booked over 2 months prior. They said we could wait for 2 hours for the queen rooms or take the king. In the room there was no coffee or tea. There was also only one small trash can in the bathroom so we had to leave trash all over the room because of the lack of the 2nd can. And the happy hour snacks are not as good as the other Embassy's. Step it up!! Also, I have stayed here a few times and never been charged for parking, and no one said there would be a charge. I had no idea until I received the bill!! By then it's a little late! Also, the mattresses need to be flipped once in a while. Our beds were crooked, leaning a lot towards the night stand. So very uncomfortable. I hate to say it but this was one of the worst stays I have ever had anywhere, and the worst ever at an Embassy. My friend and I stay at Embassy Suites several times a year and always give glowing reviews but this stay was the worst. Not sure I want to stay at this location again. I could get cheaper across the road but love Embassy because of the people and the amenities, but not this stay. Waste of money!

Check in was not pleasant. Long line & our receptionist was very grumpy, and later claimed to be the property manager. That card didn’t work! I went down to the receptionist again and she me another card. That card worked but the room was occupied!!!!! The same receptionist gave me both cards and claimed that it was my mistake bc of the written room #. She had taken information on the card and papers from me. She also claimed I misread the room # but she had that info. After going back and forth for 20 minutes, the receptionist walked us to our correct room. If she was the manager, then she needs lessons on manners and professionalism. In addition, the evening reception was crude. Old veggies, a few peanuts and potatoe chips. This morning breakfast was similar to the breakfasts that I have had there before. The so called “hot” foods were like luke warm and way below proper serving temperatures, esp. the eggs, bacon & sausage. I requested the main food worker to increase the food heating units from #2 and he did so to #4. This guy knew better but didn’t care. The coffee was like dishwater and the food selection was limited. The silverware holders were really nasty. This is probably the best hotel in San Marcos. There was a recent renovation. Our room was quite nice. I don’t think we’ll be back.

The property was in a great location right off the highway and close to the outlets. The only reason my overall rating is a little low because the pool area is open until midnight which is awesome, however it was full with friends of the guests staying. There were people out in the parking lot setting up make shift grill stations to grill food and drinking in the parking lot but weren’t staying at the hotel but had 5-6 kids and 4-5 adults going in and out of the pool to use it. You could tell they weren’t staying at the hotel, just using and overfilling the amenities. My 6 guests and I were trying to use the pool as the rooms per night aren’t cheap, kids bouncing everywhere, loud music, the metal gate slamming shut multiple times until 11pm. I mentioned something to the front desk lady, she didn’t care that the people not staying there were overtaking the pool. She said “if they aren’t disturbing anyone then we don’t bother it.” Well maybe you shouldn’t charge people $230+ per night to stay if anyone can access the property. I would’ve stayed somewhere way cheaper and just accessed the pool until midnight along with the Happy Hour space like I saw other outside people doing.

My family and I stayed at this fabulous establishment. We were there with our son to drop him off for his freshman year of college. The staff was great, the breakfast was great, we received free complimentary drinks upon arrival. We loved the fact that its was close to the university with plenty of shopping and restaurants. My wife and I like to stay in this location because from it we can easily visit live music venues, restaurants, and live sporting events in both Austin and New Braunfels. We like to stay here because our daughter attends Texas State University in San Marcos, and we couple visits to see her with visits to Schlitterbahn, Austin City Limits, River Road Icehouse, Whitewater Amphitheater, and University of Texas sporting events. An added bonus is the complimentary made to order breakfast and the manager's special every evening.

Overall it was a good stay and hotel was clean. However, we did need an extra blanket and it took probably longer than 45 minutes to get it after two trips to the service desk. Most likely they had ran out. Also, since there is a convention center, the breakfast area became chaotic with an influx of people and it didn't seem that there was enough staff to keep up because they ran out of food, cups, areas were messy and the tables dirty.
