The food was fantastic...all of staff was friendly and attentive. We loved the lit up areas walking at night. Pool bar closing at 5 was a negative. Bedding and room all amazing. Super quiet well maintained resort. Beautiful.

Staff were friendly and fun. Food and options were plentiful. The app to reserve dinner and check out daily activities was easy to use. The pool and beach were beautiful. There was a good combination of entertainment and relaxation. We had an 80 minute couples massage at the spa that was absolutely amazing. Because of that, we went back for a second one but that one was just ok. It was difficult to get a chair at the pool. We went out as early as 8am to try and get a seat by the activities pool and all the chairs were already “reserved” yet there was hardly anyone at the pool. Hot water was a hit or miss in the shower. Overall, we had a great time celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary in Mexico.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was very clean. The property is well maintained. The staff were friendly and attentive. The only negative for us is the party pool. There were a lot of highly intoxicated people in and around it and the thumping noise from the music could be heard 4 buildings away. I definitely would not stay at this resort during peak season but the number of people were perfect during this low season. The buffet food was very good. French (Blue Moon), Charro (Mexican), Italian (Dolce Vita) restaurants were just okay. We didn’t try the Japanese restaurant. Pizza by the pool was very good. Overall good resort. Just know that it’s a party place for sure.

This is a very nice, smaller property- we loved the staff and we were pleasantly surprised at the "fun pool" party vibe. However, the atm was broken and that was very inconvenient, as we were relying on the option to replenish our cash. Definitely would go again

The resort was beautiful. Food was awesome. Very clean. All service was outstay. Seaweed wasn’t too awful. Only chywoujd be they need to enclose rest and have air. After a long day in the suns would be nice to be comfortable when dining. 5 stars otherwise.

Overall, our stay was good, but there were definitely a few areas that could be improved. Communication at check-in was lacking, esp considering we paid extra to upgrade to Privilege. One of the travel desk reps gave us misinformation about jet skis being available at the hotel. We found them ourselves at the end of the beach. The food was about what you’d expect at an all-inclusive resort — not better or worse than others. That said, we did receive great service from the wait staff throughout our stay. be prepared to tip everyone who serves you; that’s simply how it works at most AI’s in Mexico. The room was nice & clean, but extremely cold & it seemed like the thermostat didn’t do anything to control the temperature. The Privilege upgrade was decent overall. I’m not sure the butler service is worth the extra cost, though the butlers themselves were very kind & helpful. The separate Privilege restaurant & designated seating areas by the pool & beach were a nice touch & added to the experience. One thing I appreciated is that this isn’t a timeshare property, so there was no hassle from anyone trying to sell you something. The nightly entertainment was okay — they cater to a certain crowd w/mostly EDM/techno music. It keeps the energy up but leaves out those who prefer variety. I’ve seen better shows at other resorts. The spa was small but nice. All in all, it wasn’t a bad stay, but with so many great places to choose from in Mexico I’d try somewhere else next time.

Friendly staff, clean room. I would have liked a little more variety in the music selections. Also it could have had a little more entertainment, such as Karaoke a few nights by the pool. I don’t know how I felt about the bubbles in the pool, that was definitely something different. I liked the Spanish lesson.

This property def needs some cosmetic updating. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. They lack seating in the beach and by the pool. Food is fine, a couple good dishes but standard all inclusive fare. Service was fine, the restaurant workers can be over booked. Entertainment was fine. Coffee shop was a nice amenity and we found the staff there particularly nice. Not a 5 star property but a moderate 4 star. Beach was kinda meh- water isn’t pretty and very small areas of swimmable beach. The perks of the privilege upgrade is significant- dinner reservations in particular.

The Ocean Maya Royale was a fantastic Adults only All-Inclusive experience. The food was top notch with a variety of options to choose from. If given the option, make sure to upgrade to their Privilege rooms or buy the upgrade as it made a big difference when looking for seating poolside (the main area was quiet crowded whereas the roped off section always had available seating). The entertainment is standard for what you would expect at an All-Inclusive but the activities coordinator (Kendel) really put his heart and soul into creating memorable experiences. The Privilege rooms also have access to a butler you can text, which we found helpful for restaurant reservations. Outside of that, the butler wasn't very helpful and often unresponsive or responses were not timely. There is nothing you can do around the property within walking distance, so a short taxi ride is the only option if you want to get out of the resort. Prices were a bit high ($25-$50 CAD) to get to the shopping area in Playa del Carmen. If city life is what you're looking for, we would consider a resort closer to the shopping district where you can just walk out. If a quieter beach front experience is what you're after, Ocean Maya Royale will not disappoint!

We stayed 4 nights at Ocean Maya, and unfortunately, it was not the relaxing experience we had hoped for. Each night, we woke up with new bites. At first, I assumed they were mosquito bites, but some were clustered — a red flag for bed bugs. On our last day, we discovered small dark specs on the bedding, which I later learned were bed bug feces!! This has caused us a great deal of stress, as now we have to take precautions and worry about possibly bringing them home. We also noticed staff fumigating nearby rooms during our stay. We were told it was for mosquitoes, but given our experience, I can’t help but feel the resort is aware of a bed bug issue and is not being transparent with guests. To make matters worse, my husband slipped while stepping out of the hot tub in our room and injured his elbow badly enough to need stitches. The patio tile is extremely slippery when wet — the resort should have anti-slip tape or mats in place to prevent this type of accident. While some staff members were friendly, these are serious issues — pests in the rooms and unsafe surfaces. truly hope management addresses both problems promptly for the safety and comfort of future guests

El hotel se presenta como un 5 estrellas, aunque en la práctica la experiencia se acerca más a un 4… con días de 3. Pros: • Excelente limpieza en la habitación. • La playa bien cuidada pese al sargazo. • El trato amable de ciertos empleados como Viri y el equipo del bar de la piscina. Contras: • Falta de aire acondicionado en la mayoría de áreas comunes (solo decente en Mike’s Café, la tienda de regalos y Privilege check-in). • Empleados sirviéndose comida en el buffet. • Limpieza deficiente alrededor de la piscina durante el día, con vasos y platos usados acumulándose y atrayendo moscas y hormigas. • Mosquitos, problema que podría resolverse con fumigaciones frecuentes, especialmente en días lluviosos. • Oferta gastronómica limitada en buffet, restaurantes y room service. • Actitud seca y desinteresada de algunos empleados. • Poca consideración con el tiempo de los huéspedes: por ejemplo, el shopping tour reservado con Miguel empezó con 45 minutos de retraso. Elegimos el tour a Puerto Morelos (con costo extra de $25 por persona) y no lo recomiendo: pobre selección de souvenirs, degustación mediocre de tequila y un paseo tedioso, aunque los tacos fueron lo mejor. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. The resort needs some serious updates and maintenance for it to be a 4 or 5 star resort. Our check in process was terrible. Kevin was the Expedia rep and we arrived at around 9am and we knew that check in was at 3. At most places the resort will work to try to get your room ready as early as possible. There were only about 8 of us that arrived at that time. Kevin was very cold and uninterested in helping us naviagate the resort website. We stopped back at 2:40 to see if the room was ready and he coldly stated that check in was at 3. Other people arrived by bus at 2:55 and they were checked in and shown to their room. It was 3:30 by the time Kevin called us over to his desk and said our room was ready. When we booked we did not understand that if you booked as Privilege you would be treated far better. Booking reservations at the restaurants was difficult, the beach areas for us had no drink attendants. I very much felt like a second class citizen. On Monday we stopped by the desk and Roberto was working. He was very kind and understanding and advised that he could help us with dinner reservatons and that was lovely. He also arranged for us to have a taxi pick us up. Roberto saved the vacation. The room was clean but the shower design meant that water leaked out onto the floor. One day we did not get our room cleaned. We called and did have fresh towels delivered. The restaurants were all ok. Nothing great

Enjoyable. Comfortable room, great choice of food, friendly staff. However, on the negative side, our room, which was a honeymoon suite, had a very bad odour which appeared to be coming from the drains in the bathroom. Over our 5 night stay, we had to report this issue on 3 occasions!

Staff were friendly, on top of things, and easy to make requests. Although it would be easier for the staff if rooms had bins for recycling instead of them sorting through the trash bins. Also, our washroom keeps getting a pool of water whenever we shower because the door doesn't close or seal.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was very clean. The property is well maintained. The staff were friendly and attentive. The only negative for us is the party pool. There were a lot of highly intoxicated people in and around it and the thumping noise from the music could be heard 4 buildings away. I definitely would not stay at this resort during peak season but the number of people were perfect during this low season. The buffet food was very good. French (Blue Moon), Charro (Mexican), Italian (Dolce Vita) restaurants were just okay. We didn’t try the Japanese restaurant. Pizza by the pool was very good. Overall good resort. Just know that it’s a party place for sure.

The staff here make it so amazing! It is an older resort and they have updated some things. The sidewalk around the outer buildings like 7 and 8 is really broken up. Can easily twist an ankle. Food was really good, not "foodie" good but we had no trouble finding something yummy. Blue Moon steak, excellent! The sushi at the Japanese restaurant delish, ate there 4 nights. Mexican restaurant also great. There are 4 restaurants and buffet + coffee shop and sports bar and lunch time pizza near the pool! Drinks are plentiful and they are very accommodating to cocktails they don't know or make often. The beach was beautiful and they do a great job of cleaning up the seaweed. Our room was large and had Ocean view as a bonus! But again, the staff are what make this resort unforgettable! Huge shout out to all the staff whose names I didn't get and special thank you to Yovanneti, My Sweet, she rocks that outdoor service area like a SuperStar!! I drank Gin Manhattans at breakneck speed! Pool bar team Eber, Fabian, Miguel my Gin and Tonics were always full! Jorge, Ocatvio and Jose in the lobby made some delicious Negronis and Espresso Martinis! Fabian also took great care of us at the Sushi restaurant, what a sweetheart! Adrian and Angel gave great pool service! Kendall and the entertainment team have more energy than any other resort we have been to, and they've all been good, but this team...WOW! This property def needs some cosmetic updating. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. They lack seating in the beach and by the pool. Food is fine, a couple good dishes but standard all inclusive fare. Service was fine, the restaurant workers can be over booked. Entertainment was fine. Coffee shop was a nice amenity and we found the staff there particularly nice. Not a 5 star property but a moderate 4 star. Beach was kinda meh- water isn’t pretty and very small areas of swimmable beach. The perks of the privilege upgrade is significant- dinner reservations in particular.

Had ants in my bathroom coming out of the cracks. Paid extra for an ocean view which ended up being a terrible decision due to being in building 12, first floor. At no point was I able to have any sort of natural sunlight in my room because of the pool being directly in front of my patio window and wall window. Unless I wanted everyone staring into my room. The only time I could use the patio would be after the pool clears out at night which is when the bugs are out or before the pool opens up. I wish there were clearer explanations of what the privilege status does and what someone who doesn’t have it can or can’t do.

We had a great stay at this property! I’ve been an Expedia silver member for awhile now and have never actually received the perks, but the Ocean Maya resort made sure we received our full benefit. We got the VIP treatment, service was amazing and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The resort had a good mix of quiet and fun so there was something for everyone. Loved our stay here!

This was my second time visiting Ocean Maya Royale, and it continues to be one of my top resort experiences in Mexico. I’m already looking forward to returning again. One of the things I love most is the size of the resort — it’s just right. It’s not too big or overwhelming, so getting around is easy and convenient. Everything you need is within a comfortable walking distance, which makes the stay even more enjoyable. The food is excellent, with so many delicious options throughout the day. You’re never left hungry here — every meal and snack is great quality. The beach is absolutely stunning, easily the best I’ve seen in Mexico. Beautiful water, clean sand, and a truly relaxing atmosphere. The staff are a major highlight. The entertainment team is fantastic, especially Kenddell and Susie, who go above and beyond to make every day fun. The entire team is amazing! The bartenders Miguel, Diego, and Johnny are exceptional — friendly, talented, and always welcoming. And Russel is an outstanding server who made each dining experience feel special. My only suggestion would be to consider adding some additional accessibility features to the pool area to make it even more comfortable and inclusive for all guests. One of many times we have stayed at this resort. Always a great experience because of the staff. Kenddell Sansores creates such a fun environment! Miguel at the Pool bar always gets our drinks just perfect. Food has continued to be the best of any resort we have stayed at.

Clean room, FRIENDLY and very conscientious staff. Customer service and kindness was off the charts. Of note: Roberto in concierge was amazingly warm, helpful smiley, and just so kind always willing to go the extra mile. Jorge and Octavio in the bar where our special favorite friends what amazing people who work so hard and are SO friendly, they and want to make sure their customers feel welcomed and served. I recently stayed at Ocean Maya Royale in Playa del Carmen, and while the resort itself is beautiful and many aspects of our stay were enjoyable, I left with mixed feelings due to the way guests were treated differently based on appearance and language. From the start, it was noticeable that “white” or foreign-looking guests received significantly more attention than Hispanic-looking guests like myself. The difference was hard to ignore and disappointing, especially in a place I expected to feel welcomed as someone whose parents grew up here. The most negative experience was at the sports bar. My husband and I were practically ignored by the servers. When we asked for milkshakes, we were told they were completely out. Minutes later, an Asian-looking couple walked in, and the servers rushed to help them. Not only did they take their order immediately, but shortly after, the server walked past us and said, “We do have milkshakes—we only have chocolate or strawberry.” My husband ordered one, but then we noticed the couple received both a chocolate and a strawberry shake. To make matters worse, my husband asked for water several times (at least 3–4), and our table continued to be ignored while the foreign guests were given full attention. This behavior wasn’t limited to one spot. Across the resort, we noticed that if you don’t speak English, the experience changes drastically. Once my husband and I began speaking English, the difference in service was undeniable.

Poor check in. He was not helpful at all and very disinterested in our requests. The other staff members were much more pleasant.It was 3 o’clock and we didn’t get our rooms till 4:30. It’s a lovely resort. More condo like than hotel like. Restaurants were all good- there is always something to like. Most staff is friendly except for some of the front desk staff. The beach was peaceful. Personally do not like pools, so did not part take in the pool activities. The night shows were good although the theater acoustics were not good- loud and pounding.

Could not swim in the ocean (from the beach) because of the sargassum, but to OMR's credit they handled it better than many other resorts in the area, so it wasn't too noticeable when not close to the water. This property def needs some cosmetic updating. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. They lack seating in the beach and by the pool. Food is fine, a couple good dishes but standard all inclusive fare. Service was fine, the restaurant workers can be over booked. Entertainment was fine. Coffee shop was a nice amenity and we found the staff there particularly nice. Not a 5 star property but a moderate 4 star. Beach was kinda meh- water isn’t pretty and very small areas of swimmable beach. The perks of the privilege upgrade is significant- dinner reservations in particular.

The Ocean Maya Royale was a fantastic Adults only All-Inclusive experience. The food was top notch with a variety of options to choose from. If given the option, make sure to upgrade to their Privilege rooms or buy the upgrade as it made a big difference when looking for seating poolside (the main area was quiet crowded whereas the roped off section always had available seating). The entertainment is standard for what you would expect at an All-Inclusive but the activities coordinator (Kendel) really put his heart and soul into creating memorable experiences. The Privilege rooms also have access to a butler you can text, which we found helpful for restaurant reservations. Outside of that, the butler wasn't very helpful and often unresponsive or responses were not timely. There is nothing you can do around the property within walking distance, so a short taxi ride is the only option if you want to get out of the resort. Prices were a bit high ($25-$50 CAD) to get to the shopping area in Playa del Carmen. If city life is what you're looking for, we would consider a resort closer to the shopping district where you can just walk out. If a quieter beach front experience is what you're after, Ocean Maya Royale will not disappoint!

Cleaning and fridge staff were friendly and courteous as well as some of the bartenders. One day use the pool and we waited about 30-40 mts and no waiter came around..try to schedule appointment to the Japanese restaurant and it was closed as well as the buffet. Not very many food selections.

The spa was amazing! The events team does a good job of making things fun. The food was very average and I felt disappointed the buffet was only open once for dinner in the week we were here. Kendall leading the foam party was a highlight for us. Oscar was the best server we had and we actually chose restaurants based on where he was working for the night. We would come back but only if we can find a great deal.

Overall, our stay was good, but there were definitely a few areas that could be improved. Communication at check-in was lacking, esp considering we paid extra to upgrade to Privilege. One of the travel desk reps gave us misinformation about jet skis being available at the hotel. We found them ourselves at the end of the beach. The food was about what you’d expect at an all-inclusive resort — not better or worse than others. That said, we did receive great service from the wait staff throughout our stay. be prepared to tip everyone who serves you; that’s simply how it works at most AI’s in Mexico. The room was nice & clean, but extremely cold & it seemed like the thermostat didn’t do anything to control the temperature. The Privilege upgrade was decent overall. I’m not sure the butler service is worth the extra cost, though the butlers themselves were very kind & helpful. The separate Privilege restaurant & designated seating areas by the pool & beach were a nice touch & added to the experience. One thing I appreciated is that this isn’t a timeshare property, so there was no hassle from anyone trying to sell you something. The nightly entertainment was okay — they cater to a certain crowd w/mostly EDM/techno music. It keeps the energy up but leaves out those who prefer variety. I’ve seen better shows at other resorts. The spa was small but nice. All in all, it wasn’t a bad stay, but with so many great places to choose from in Mexico I’d try somewhere else next time.

The staff here make it so amazing! It is an older resort and they have updated some things. The sidewalk around the outer buildings like 7 and 8 is really broken up. Can easily twist an ankle. Food was really good, not "foodie" good but we had no trouble finding something yummy. Blue Moon steak, excellent! The sushi at the Japanese restaurant delish, ate there 4 nights. Mexican restaurant also great. There are 4 restaurants and buffet + coffee shop and sports bar and lunch time pizza near the pool! Drinks are plentiful and they are very accommodating to cocktails they don't know or make often. The beach was beautiful and they do a great job of cleaning up the seaweed. Our room was large and had Ocean view as a bonus! But again, the staff are what make this resort unforgettable! Huge shout out to all the staff whose names I didn't get and special thank you to Yovanneti, My Sweet, she rocks that outdoor service area like a SuperStar!! I drank Gin Manhattans at breakneck speed! Pool bar team Eber, Fabian, Miguel my Gin and Tonics were always full! Jorge, Ocatvio and Jose in the lobby made some delicious Negronis and Espresso Martinis! Fabian also took great care of us at the Sushi restaurant, what a sweetheart! Adrian and Angel gave great pool service! Kendall and the entertainment team have more energy than any other resort we have been to, and they've all been good, but this team...WOW! And our housekeeper Ineida kept our room looking immaculate! Thank you all!!!

Enjoyable. Comfortable room, great choice of food, friendly staff. However, on the negative side, our room, which was a honeymoon suite, had a very bad odour which appeared to be coming from the drains in the bathroom. Over our 5 night stay, we had to report this issue on 3 occasions!

The property overall was nice. Only negative is there’s no A/C in common areas or restaurants unless you were privileged guest. Went in July and couldn’t enjoy night shows or sit in lobby because it was unbearably hot! Staff were amazing and food options were good. Favorite restaurants were the Hibachi and Buffet restaurant but again very hot! Ocean eats delivered food to room for late night menu! The activities at pool were so much fun! Overall it was a good time.

I had a great time at this resort overall, but a few issues prevented me from giving a full 5 stars. I booked transportation through the resort, which required prepayment. After booking, I emailed multiple times over the course of a week and a half to confirm the pickup time and ask a few questions, but received no response. I ended up calling (incurring international charges), and I requested a refund, which was thankfully processed after some persistence. Communication needs improvement. As for dining, there are plenty of options. The breakfast buffet and hibachi were great, and the coffee and ice cream shop were excellent. The sports bar also had good food. The fine dining restaurant was enjoyable, but the Italian spot and buffet dinner selections were not good. The Japanese restaurant had a very long wait for food (over an hour and a half with only two tables ahead), and the sushi included cheese in all the rolls, which I didn’t care for. Some items at the Mexican restaurant were good, others not so much. Poolside pizza was tasty. I also appreciated that they kept cleaning up the seaweed from the ocean. Not all hotels were doing that so atleast I was able to enjoy the warm water not just the pool. Despite the inconsistencies, I appreciated the variety of food choices, polite staff and still enjoyed my stay.
