Maravida Social Hotel by Crazy Monkey

Beautiful pool, restaurant and bar with an excellent breakfast. Rooms rather old and need to be renewed but everything was clean and tidy.

Amazing Staff from the beginning at the reception with Maricruz and Krystal, Housekeeping Jessinia, Bar Jonathan, Restaurant Lenny, Management Max and Randall, Gardner..etc. They are all so friendly and make you feel at home.The room was cleaned everyday and was immaculate. Although needs upgrading. Sink too high for me, the bed is high and against the wall which was very difficult to go in and out of bed. (standard oceanview room) Great oceanview from balcony. The pool and bar area with oceanview was beautiful. Breakfast was very good. Lots and lots of stairs to keep us in shape. Big partys on Fridays but when you know ahead of time, it's not a bother. Thank You staff of Maravida for a wonderful stay.

Maravida was great! Ocean view, super close the the beach. Beautiful pool and excellent breakfast. It was off season so there was more construction, but still worth it.

Great price... AC had trouble keeping air temp below 72.... There is a great loud party Friday nights. Pool was good. Sun deck good. Proximity to ocean fair for walking. Breakfast was good.

Dirty shower, creaky bed, inadequate parking, awfully limited breakfast and loud music on Friday night till 2:30. It’s not advertised at the time of making the reservation but they inform you after you get there at the property, which in my opinion is very late. And the reception lady has major attitude problems.

Nice hotel, very well located in Tamarindo: only a 2 minutes walk to the Tamarindo Beach with lots of restaurants, bars and stores at a walking distance as well. We loved the amazing pool / outdoor area with the swimming bar. The hotel offered free breakfast and free surf board rentals which was a nice plus. Our room was nice. The decor was a bit outdated, but the bed was super comfortable, and our room had a beautiful view of the ocean. Could use a little more cleanliness around the bathroom but overall it was ok for our needs. We think it offers a good price / quality ratio and great location near everything but away from all the noise. We would come back. Speaking of noise, just be aware that the hotel is quiet on all nights except Fridays. The hotel outdoor area turns into a huge nightclub as of 8 PM and until 2:30AM. We weren’t aware of this before the check-in where we were asked to sign a waiver. If you plan to have a good rest on a Friday night, this might not be the right hotel, but if you want to dance to the sounds of a salsa band, old school hip hop or reggaeton, then go for it!

Restaurant was closed for renovations. Would have been nice to have food available there.

Pool was half full with pump off. Bar had no ingredients to make anythinng on the menu and wont allow to charge anything to room or open a tab. Dont eat too much gallo pinto, they only give you one roll of TP. This place used to be awesome and now it sucks rwally bad.

We strongly recommend this property for families looking to visit Tamarindo. The room was impeccably clean with a very powerful air conditioning unit. Water pressure on both the shower and toliet were a bit lacking but still usable. We stayed on a Thursday night and had no noise problems (though it may be a problem on Friday night when their weekly parties are). We felt very safe as the front gate is closed (but it of course can be opened if you arrive late) and monitored by a security guard during the night. Breakfast was made to order (4 pre-set options) and substantial. The hotel is a short walk away from the center of town (no continuous sidewalks but did not feel particularly unsafe as long as we were careful) and across the street from the beach.

The room wasn’t very clean, there was some garbage still I’m guessing when they cleaned didn’t sweep good or mopped. The sink had a drain strain and was dirty and it grossed me out because the water wouldn’t fully go down quickly. I didn’t even have a view through the window, it was high and covered with a lining so you couldn’t look outside. outside my room was an ugly area with a pile of dirt and black drapes, like they maybe remodeling or adding to the hotel. Overall the hotel is in a good area and accessible to downtown and beach is like a 3 minute walk. But just an outdated hotel

Room I was staying it was always spotless clean and very roomy

I booked and paid for a room with a balcony and they gave us a regular room. They said on their end it was showing up as a regular room but when I showed them the reservation on my end, suddenly, it was popping up as a balcony room. They said it was expedias fault for booking it that way when they had other people booked in those rooms and they could not kick them out for us. They kept blaming Expedia and said this is what happens to them a lot and using a third party booking agent is not reliable. They said they would report it to Expedia but did nothing to make it right for us. The room had hair all over the shower and the back of the toilet. The pool and bar area were nice though

Stayed for our first night in tamarindo. Check in wasn’t until 3pm, staff wouldn’t let us check in 20 minutes early. Property feels old and out dated and could definitely be cleaner.

They should improve their standard. The services were not up to the mark. Sink was clogged, TV wasn’t working, wifi inside the room was on and off, bed was making so much noise upon flipping sides. They should have done better for the sake of price customers pay.

The staff, breakfast, and facilities in general are very good. The bed frame creaked a lot when moving on it.

The staff are friendly. Our room had a balcony with a view. The negative is that we had to wait almost 2 hours to check in by the noisy pool bar on a Friday! Plus, you have to walk up many stairs to get there. They need a golf cart to get people from the reception at the gate to the rooms or pool area. A palapa where people could wait at checkin would be nice! Better security for luggage is needed.

Upon arrival at the hotel, I was told I had to roll my luggage on the gravel road onto to stoned driveway up a small hill and then carry it up the stairs to my room.... The next morning I saw the breakfast was sub par so I only had the toasts with butter and jam, coffee and juice. They ran out of sterno to keep the food warm the next morning, so everything was served cold. By the third morning, they had scented candles put under the warming trays but most of them were out... The property is located at the entry end of the town but still walkable into town in about 10 minutes if you walk slow. Some areas of the road toward the center of town is without sidewalk so you'll get dirty feet getting into town. My room has a decent water view above the trees but it has no mini fridge nor microwave. I had to get ice from the restaurant all day to keep my drinks cold. I think for about $100/night it's decent. There are many options of places to stay in Tamarindo but mostly local hotels and not world wide chains. There is no reception per say except a little building at the entrance that looks like a security guard hut so if you check out and leave your suitcase with the reception, you would have no where to hang out until it's time to leave. There is a very good Chinese restaurant across the street which I had a few meals while I was there.

We spent 5 days in Tamarindo and really liked the Best Western. We had a small balcony, but didn't use that so much as the upstairs patio area that was near the pool. We could catch a breeze there when it was hot and in general it was a nice comfortable space to hang out when we weren't doing something outside the hotel area. Visitors should be aware that on Friday nights, there is a very loud party with music that does on until about 2 AM. We were not made aware of this until we arrived but it happens every Friday night, and it is loud enough to make the walls vibrate. We also had an air conditioner problem that couldn't be solved and it would work, then not work, then work again. Sometimes it got really hot inside the room. Staff was very nice and they kept trying, but we had to keep asking. The included daily breakfast was really good, and my husband loved it and he is pretty picky about breakfast. All in all, it was a lovely place to stay. Small issues, but a very nice staff, nice location, and pretty comfortable.

The area is fantastic, so is the staff and the amenities. However, the bed wasn't very comfortable and the marble floors make every noise very loud in the room. We had trouble sleeping because of all the noises. Breakfast was good and there was a nice view and pool.

We enjoyed our stay, it was close to everything we needed. Bed was very uncomfortable and noisy. Telephone was in the room but not connected so had no way to communicate with office. Hairdryer did not work. A/C was good. Pool area and staff were amazing. Breakfast was adequate. Booked a shuttle through the office for the morning of our flight home and after waiting 30 minutes past their scheduled pick up time with a no show we hailed a cab. Had we waited any longer we would have missed our flight.

Very close to many restaurants and shops. Would have rated more stars, but the beds were terribly uncomfortable. You should also know Tamarindo is very busy, so its not a quiet hotel. (Traffic noise). Breakfast was the same food every day, would havebeen nice to chamge it.
