If you are looking for a modern relaxing carefree stay, then you should probably consider another location. The hotel is perpetually understaffed creating long lines for food, drink service and front desk questions. The hotel counts with three fine dining restaurants that you have to reserve at 7am on the day you would like to make use of the restaurant. The food there is mediocre at best but the staff is friendly and attentive. Only one of the three pools is heated so everyone migrates to the same pool which quickly put added pressure on staff, beach chairs and food service.

Bien en general, todos fueron muy amables, tuvimos una pequeña situación de limpieza a nuestra llegada pero la solucionaron de inmediato. La alberca es grande y climatizada. La comida es rica, el hotel está dividido en dos, para algunas habitaciones tienes que cruzar la calle para llegar a la playa, pero no te pierdes de nada, el área de playa es muy pequeña y la alberca de ahí es mucho más pequeña.

It really depends what you're looking for. The buffet was pretty blah, and my standards are very low. There are two specialty restaurants but you can only go to one per day. There's beach access a short walk away but it's small and there are no chairs/umbrellas. The room was great and the pools are gorgeous, but this was definitely not worth the money. If you're a backpacker and you want a nice-ish place to recharge maybe, but I wouldn't recommend this for a real vacation. The location is among a bunch of fancy resorts, but far from the romantica area. It would be better to stay in a regular hotel in that area. Also, there was no wifi in the rooms and we only had a bath towel each - not a single hand towel, etc. That really bugged me! But the staff was lovely.

Very nice to eat at the marina restaurant in the morning and to have the option to walk to the beach side pool (very close) with the lunch options there. Amazing tacos. Very walkable beach. Local cuisine in the evening buffet. Didn’t try any of the a la cartes as we were only there for 3 nights. Fun Mexican fiesta. Great Mixhelada bar in the lobby. Bellboys go above and beyond- very professional

You have a choice of Marina pools or Oceanside with 2 pools plus beach. You have a choice of 5 different restaurants, some require reservations but they're good. Staff treats you like family. Will return next year for sure.

Staff was great - Drinks were inconsistent and half the time undrinkable. Very spread out complex from main hotel to the beach access. Reservations for almost everything but the cafe and buffet. Smaller variety at the buffet than other options at other resorts. Cafe needs to improve the food - same sandwich from one day to another guest wasn't consistent. Overall this is a ok place. No chairs at the pools only loungers. Improvement on some items would help a lot.

The staff were great, especially Ninive, Samuel, Jonathan, Brenda, Antonio, and most of the bar staff actually. The pools were good and the beach was nice. The food at the marina/la villa/caracol/fajitas restaurants were delicious. I wished the wifi worked in the rooms. Our iron didn’t work but it wasn't a big deal. The beds were comfy. The nightly entertainment was good. If you want to sleep early, this is not the hotel for you. It’s pretty loud if your room is near the stairs or pool or theatre. The marina was beautiful. Enny, the tour lady, was good. She set us up with a dolphin swim and a boat tour. Both were fun. Most of the staff were friendly. I’m glad the AC worked in the room. It provided much needed relief from the hot July sun.

Stayed two weeks. Not enough umbrellas around the pool areas. Buffet food was always just warm to cold. Too loud music at pool, too much bass all you could hear on some days was boom, boom, boom all day. Staff at desk need better understanding of English. The guys working at the entrance were very helpful and pleasant and spoke good English. They need more waiters and waitresses for morning buffet. Overall was not too bad but as older people we will not go back. understanding

The location of this resort is stunning, especially with all the yachts along the marina. However, there was little to no daily games/activities on the resort, only 4 employees spoke English which was very challenging if you couldn’t find them and had to ask any other employee. The cleaning crew daily forgot to give us hand towels, shower towels and face cloths. There was small layers of mold in the grout and shower head in the bathroom. The view is what makes the resort nice, but other then that it was quite below any other resorts I’ve ever been to in Puerto Vallarta and I am a yearly traveller to PV.

The staff was great always willing to assist. But hotel is not worth what we paid for. Bathroom was horrible (nasty), old and needed so much updates. The kitchen it has looks dirty and not appealing to use at all. The food was ok. Not great but not the worst we have had. The only good food they had was the Mexican theme dinner on Saturday. This hotel needs so much work in the rooms. If we go back we will not be staying there anymore. The pictures online are not at all the same when you are physically there. Disappointed.

There was good and bad about this resort. Good: Staff, location (marina), pools and outdoor areas were very clean. Not so good: The pictures of the rooms online are not close to what the rooms actually look like. It is an older resort, but the problem is the disrepair of the rooms. Our first room had a safe that didn't work (as did several other guests we met). It had black mold around the bathroom taps and shower head, and chunks of plaster out of the walls. The chain on the door was broken, the room only had 1 chair to sit in, and there was no fridge in the room. We were moved to another room, and while it was in somewhat better shape, the patio door was broken. The bottom frame had been pushed in, so the glass was no longer attached to the frame. There was a 1/4" gap between the glass and the frame. One good push and that whole glass door would have come crashing down. Staff was great but ownership really needs to step up their game. The staff are taking the abuse for something out of their control.

Todo estuvo excelente, el personal fabuloso, albercas, etc en general todo muy bien. La única observación que se pudiera hacer notar, la regadera de la habitación tenía fugas para todos lados pero bastante con que se cambie y listo… los comentarios de mis compañeros y mío sobre la estancia fue muy satisfactoria

We were given the wrong room at first, then they got us the room we ordered. Then had plumbing issues, so we upgraded to the penthouse and still had plumbing issues. The place needs some updating and better cleaning standards. I also didn’t like that there was no fridge available. The food was good and location was great, beautiful views and nice beach.

Everyone is so friendly, the service is great. The food is decent and had plenty of options to please my family and we have 2 picky kids. The pools were beautiful. My only couple of complaints would be that there is no wifi in the rooms and that the rooms themselves were dated and could definitely do with being updated. Other than that though, the location and friendliness of the staff made up for it. We’d definitely stay again!

No me agrada el hecho de cruzar la calle para ir a la playa, pareciera que es otro hotel. El check out es muy temprano, una hora antes en comparación con otros hoteles. No hay wifi en las habitaciones. El aire acondicionado no funcionaba correctamente en la habitación. El agua de la alberca estaba muy fría.

I booked and paid for 2 rooms for my family and one of the rooms was different with really bad Sewer smell really bad customer service too I ask for assistance and they told me they couldnt do anything about it it was a really bad experience I dont recommend Vamar Hotel

Staff were incredible, especially bellman, Eduardo; as well as bartenders Papi Moreno & Salvador. WiFi was almost non-existent. Coffee only available in lobby and restaurants. Not many outlets in the room... but with that being said I was on vacation and wanted to be unplugged and got some extra steps in getting my coffee every morning. When you pay extra for a balcony with a gorgeous view, it's nice to have your morning coffee out there. Resort food was okay. The omelet bar was incredible.

We got an all inclusive package at what seemed like a good price only to discover that it was on the 3rd floor of a building a quarter of a mile from the main building and restaurants and with NO ELEVATOR! Having a handicapped wife I tried to get a more accessible location and was told that there were none unless I was willing to pay more than double the price. Wound up feeling like the victim of a scam.

I booked the hotel seeing that they were offering Villas . It was not a Villa at all, they were apartments in a building . The apartments facing the sea are private ones and the hotel doesn’t rent them . You will get something far from where you can’t see the sea. The hotel looks old, my room didn’t have charging poings for my cell phone and the ones they had was broken , had to charge it in my bathroom . No internet in the room even during this age . And my toilet get clogged as the plumbing seems old . It’s a resort from the 1970’s that forgot to update itself . The staff are pleasant , they all seem happy with their job and were ready to help .Food and drinks are ok . Will not stay here again .
I booked the hotel seeing that they were offering Villas . It was not a Villa at all, they were apartments in a building . The apartments facing the sea are private ones and the hotel doesn’t rent them . You will get something far from where you can’t see the sea. The hotel looks old, my room didn’t have charging poings for my cell phone and the ones they had was broken , had to charge it in my bathroom . No internet in the room even during this age . And my toilet get clogged as the plumbing seems old . It’s a resort from the 1970’s that forgot to update itself . The staff are pleasant , they all seem happy with their job and were ready to help .Food and drinks are ok . Will not stay here again .

The stay was decent nothing fancy. However when it came to check out at 11:00am we asked to hangout until our flight, which wasn’t until 6pm. They first said no. I was shocked. Every other resort I’d been to in the past has always allowed us to store our bags and hangout by the pool or whatever able to still enjoy the facility fully. Not these guys. They cut our bands off and said they’d allow us to only be in the lobby, only after they could see the shocked look on my face. Considering all the money we spent I didn’t think asking to stay on the grounds until 3pm, when we had to head to the airport, would be an issue. Like I said before all the other all inclusive resorts have always allowed us to stay on the grounds with our bracelets as long as we handed in our room keys. We will not be coming back to this resort.

We found that the staff were disorganized and uninformed. Some telling us of events, times and places that were wrong. Other times, we found lunchtime specials that were being set up on the beach that we had no knowledge of. Communication was poor between management and guests regarding events. We came to the resort during the Easter week and found that we were subjected to some discrimination towards us by the serving staff. They sometimes would avoid us or forget that we were even there, either at a restaurant or bar and would defer to the Mexican guests. Also, events were never on time. House keeping seemed random. Whenever was convenient for them. The food was disappointing, although there was a lot offered. No real Adult pool. Nobody was inforcing that. We would not recommend this resort if you are not Mexican.

I was very nervous heading to Vamar after reading some terrible reviews as it was getting closer to my stay. Thank god I still went! I thought the property was beautiful and different! I loved walking to the beach front property! Quiet, relaxing, plenty of space. The snack shop is there and was ok. Being so close to the marina was also a major bonus! Staff was great!!! Especially Eduardo, Christina and Clara. Solo traveler and they made me feel welcome and safe! Buffet is the only negative and the fruit was not fresh. The Italian restaurant was amazing! I also met amazing new friends! I also did not feel I was treated less than the locals who stay there! Loved my experience and no regrets!! Thank you Vamar for your hospitality!

The location is fantastic and the accessibility to both the beach and the marina was great. The service on the other hand was nothing to brag about. Check in was just that - they checked you in, gave you a key and that was it. No welcoming smiles, no welcome drink, no help with luggage or finding your room. We've come to PV several times to other resorts and never has the service been so unimpressive. Our room attendant did not replenish any toiletries and our phone in our room didn't work so every time we needed something we had to go downstairs to the desk and then tell them and back to the room and wait for the amenities to be delivered. Once would have been forgivable but this was literally every day of our 7 night stay. In fact, when we first arrived in the room there weren't even towels. I hate to even write reviews but this time around we brought it to the front desks attention everyday after the 3rd day of no amenities and still repeatedly did not get what we needed, therefore, here is my honest review.

Great value for the money, Carlos at the pool was great, as well as Delicia at the breakfast buffet, Marina and Cristina by the front desk, nice people, nice place, we definitely want to go back to Vamar.

Not sure about all the negative reviews. I guess it all depends on what you want. The only thing I could see is the rooms are dated, but were clean and comfortable and everything worked. For us, thats's all that matters because we don't spend a lot of time in our room. The grounds and pools are clean and nice. The service was beyond excellent and polite. The buffet was fine with fresh grill options the nights we ate there. To us this resort was budget friendly so we could go out to some of our favorite restaurants at the marina. The location is excellent being only a few steps from the marina and fishing docks. Having a marina side and ocean side was great also, the best of both worlds. Under a three minute walk between the two. If you are looking for high end furnishings in your room then this may not be the place for you but if you want a nice place to stay with great service, excellent location for a fun time in Puerto then I would say yes. We had a superior balcony room with great views of the marina and boats going in and out.

Bien en general, todos fueron muy amables, tuvimos una pequeña situación de limpieza a nuestra llegada pero la solucionaron de inmediato. La alberca es grande y climatizada. La comida es rica, el hotel está dividido en dos, para algunas habitaciones tienes que cruzar la calle para llegar a la playa, pero no te pierdes de nada, el área de playa es muy pequeña y la alberca de ahí es mucho más pequeña.

Pros: 10 min from airport. Excellent location on the marina plus on the beach, surrounded by yachts and fancy houses. You can easily walk off the resort and feel very safe. Nice property with multiple pools and beach access. Food is good at the buffet as well as the 2 restaurants. Beds are firm. Staff is friendly. Cons: Don't recommend the villa's as they are older and smell of sewer. We switched to the hotel suite as it is newer and didn't smell. Activities and entertainment are lower quality.

Great place to stay and be in the middle of everything. THIS HOTEL IS WHAT YOU PAY FOR! If you want fine dinning and have heavy wallets with money not being an option then book a 4 or 5 stay resort. If you don’t mind the rooms not being perfectly clean, food being mediocre, and saving tons of money then this is the place to stay. For 2k and 5 people eating all week, swimming all day, and being in the middle of the fun then book this resort and know it won’t be perfect. If you want perfect spend the 5k or more somewhere else. All in all we loved our experience and will stay again. Keep in mind we don’t care to vacation at super high standards. We are a simple, down to earth, and grateful family!

The location of the hotel was great. Beautiful marina side that you have your meals watching the boats coming and going for the day. Bonus of a ocean side as well, where you can lounge and watch the whales. The hotel is older and in need of some updates.

The property has an excellent location. We liked that the hotel has a marina side and a beach side. The temperature controlled pool on the beach side was nice. I don't want to make the food service in general sound bad because there was a large variety of good food but out of our family of 5 all 5 of us got very sick after eating at the various restaurants, to the point that we had a lot of downtime because we all got very sick on different days. For that reason we did not go on a boat trip that we would have liked to go on. It was unfortunate and we tried to make the best of it. After losing trust in the food at the hotel we ate out as much as we could for the rest of our stay. Honestly, I do not plan on staying there again. When we entered the room one of the first things that we noticed (we reserved a superior room for a family of 5) that the toiletries were tiny and were not going to be suficient for the 5 of us. We decided to go to the marina next door and purchase shampoo and soap for the whole week that we stayed there. I did not like that I paid the same rate for every single night that we were there but were told that we could not get fresh shower towels daily.

The restaurants were only open certain hours. The buffet was pretty mediocre. No on property store to but snacks. Everything is inclusive but not 24 hours like RIU properties. The bars don’t open until 11:30am. Not everyone spoke English so of you’re not fluent keep your google translate close. Was clean and people were kind otherwise.

The resort and service team itself was great! Everyone was kind, attentive, and friendly. You don't walk past one person who doesn't ask how you're doing, and how they can help you. The only issue is that there is absolutely no wifi in the rooms, and it's only available in the lobby, even then, the connection is poor. I left the resort and have Mexico included in my plan so I was covered, but when my partner needed to contact me, he tried to connect to WiFi to make the call and it was not great.. The tvs also could use an update, channels lag or go fuzzy sometimes but if youre planning to be outside a lot and exploring the beautiful city, then TV and wifi in the room don't matter too much :) Food was AMAZINGLY good. I looked forward to every meal. (Anything with beef is always delish!) I definitely wouldn't mind staying there again :)

Stayed two weeks. Not enough umbrellas around the pool areas. Buffet food was always just warm to cold. Too loud music at pool, too much bass all you could hear on some days was boom, boom, boom all day. Staff at desk need better understanding of English. The guys working at the entrance were very helpful and pleasant and spoke good English. They need more waiters and waitresses for morning buffet. Wonderful staff, very kind, helpful, above and beyond whenever they could. Our AC in our room broke, and when they couldn't fix it, we were immediately upgraded to a different room, all within 30 mins of our initial phone call to the desk! Very, very impressed with their response and care. The walk over to the beach side is nice, a little long in the heat, but not bad at all. All the swim up bars and pools were lovely. The entrance to the Marina boardwalk is right by the lobby, and pickup locations for most excursions are nearby and within walking distance. Resort is very child friendly, and family oriented, but also very low key and relaxing. We loved our experience. Food was about what we expected, some options were hit and miss but we always found something we really enjoyed, even if it wasn't everything. Our biggest complaint would be the birds at meal times, the staff try their best to shoo them but don't leave your food unattended for even a second or a bird WILL steal it lol. All in all, we had a wonderful time, and we would definitely return, great value for the price.

Very, very impressed with their response and care. The walk over to the beach side is nice, a little long in the heat, but not bad at all. All the swim up bars and pools were lovely. The entrance to the Marina boardwalk is right by the lobby, and pickup locations for most excursions are nearby and within walking distance. Resort is very child friendly, and family oriented, but also very low key and relaxing. We loved our experience. Food was about what we expected, some options were hit and miss but we always found something we really enjoyed, even if it wasn't everything. Our biggest complaint would be the birds at meal times, the staff try their best to shoo them but don't leave your food unattended for even a second or a bird WILL steal it lol. All in all, we had a wonderful time, and we would definitely return, great value for the price.
