Hampton Inn Garden City Long Island

I've stayed at this hotel regularly for work over the past few years, and while the hotel itself is fine the parking policy is a huge disappointment. When I first started staying here a few summers ago, parking was free, which was a major reason I chose this location. I work in NYC on weekends, and I purposely drive 30 minutes out of the city to stay in this area because there are no parking fees. Now the hotel has started charging for parking, and it's not only frustrating, it’s completely illogical. Unlike hotels in NYC or near major airports, where parking space is limited, this location has ample parking at all hours. There’s no reason to charge guests when you can look around and see empty spots everywhere. It feels like a cash grab, and even the front desk staff seem frustrated by it. To make matters worse, the process is extremely inconvenient. After a long day of travel or work, you check in, lug all your stuff into the lobby, pay for parking, and then have to go back outside—sometimes in the pouring rain—to put a parking pass in your car. If you don’t want to leave your things unattended, your only options are trekking all the way to your room first or hauling everything back outside. It’s an unnecessary hassle that creates nothing but frustration for guests. Every time I check in, I see customers arguing about the parking fee at the front desk, and the employees clearly dislike enforcing it. Why start every guest’s experience on a negative and annoying note?

Overall a good stay .location was great . Air con in room was like an aircraft taking off ..so noisy and a strange sound every few minutes from fire alarm which if your noise sensitive will drive you nuts we did report it as the alarm went off one morning at 6.40am .swimming pool was nice but had to try and share with lots of seimming lessons taking place so couldn't fully enjoy.

The staff was very nice and accommodating. The breakfast was great and the woman serving the breakfast was excellent however, the pool, which we mainly went for for the children to enjoy was not enjoyable at all. It was overtaken by swimming lessons and swimming swimming instructors yelling at my kids. Stay out of their way they had the door open for anyone to come in, and I had to listen to screaming and crying of babies swimming. Apparently, they have a deal with the swimming instructor where he supposed to use a portion of the pool however that was not happening. The manager did go over after I had to complain and ask him to use the part of the pool that he is designated to use.

Staff were all pleasant. The property could use a refresh. The furnishings and infrastructure has the feel of a place being neglected. Was surprised that there is now a charge for parking ($10 tax/day) that was not disclosed at check-in. The EV chargers need attention.

Friendly staff; spacious room, but $10 up charge for outdoor parking was ridiculous.

Staff is helpful. Gym is a little small, but room is comfortable and it’s a convenient location.

It was a mixed bag. This was the second time I requested a suite from Hotels.com and didn't receive one. I thought the room was rather dingy and the lighting insufficient. However the staff was very friendly and helpful. I was preparing a legal document and discovered that the hotel did not have an operable business center. One of the front desk staff was of great help in getting my document printed on their fron desk printer.

Pool was closed . Breakfast lady was rude

Buried deep deep inside the booking page you will see an additional $10 for uncovered parking. It seems like that should be listed at the top or somewhere more prominent. I also specifically booked this hotel because it had an electric car charging "station" which consisted of 2 chargers, one of which was broken and the other of which was being used by another vehicle and they don't keep any track of how long so I then had to find another station and pay more money to charge my car before I went home. The safety doors in from the parking garage were not kept locked or closed at nite. And my non-smoking room smelled like so much smoke that when I showed up at my meeting the next day someone asked I had been smoking and this was from hanging my clothes in the closet. They also had no alternative milk of any kind at breakfast. Stay away.

Charging for parking here is comical, and inconsistent. Was forced to pay $10 for parking, fine, but when I walked by 8 cars, 7 of the 8 did not display the parking pass.

Clean

Nice linens...The rooms seriously need refurbishment. Rugs, floor, shower, furniture are worn & sticky dirty. Windows shrouded in limescale limiting sunlight. Left my slippers behind. After 5 nights their sticky black soles made them unwashable & unusable.

The Staff was quite friendly. However the parking fee of $10. per night was an unexpected expense. The facility would have gotten a better rating if the breakfast area did not have dust built up on the wall behind the equipment. There was dust hanging from the hooks on the wall and the wall's decorative railing. Christina was a pleasure to deal with at the front desk.

Smelly rooms and dirty carpets

Beautiful clean family oriented hotel. Excellent customer service from the moment you walk in to check in with concierge through your checkout. They were so helpful and pleasant to interact with. Going forward will be my #1 choice of hotels.

The first room that was given to me was not clean and had a musty smell. The room that I finally got, had a musty stale cigarette smell. The hallways also had a musty stale smell. The staff were nice, the breakfast was good, but I wouldn’t recommend it and wouldn’t go back.

Excellent staff! Rooms very clean and neat. Breakfast is included and it was pretty good. Also it was pet friendly.

Feels like bedding wasn’t washed. Old room especially for the price paid. Breakfast was ok though.

Our room #308 is unacceptable. The carpet is wet and dirty and the bathroom floor is slippery. The odor in the room is also awful.

Our room was spacious and sparkling clean! Went to breakfast in the lobby area and it too was super clean and in great condition.

The hotel was great and conveniently located. The room (suite) was huge with a king bed, large desk, large TV screen, a sofa and two chairs, a wet bar with mini-fridge, coffee maker, and microwave. One glaring omission, however, is towel bars. There are no towel bars at all - not near the bathroom sink, not in the area with the tub/shower, and not near the sink in the wet bar. Housekeeping is done every other day, so towel bars would have come in handy. I ended up hanging wet bath towels on the hangers with clips in the closet. Other than that, our stay was very pleasant and we would stay again when visiting the area.

Spacious room and nice staff

We stayed for 6 nights. The property was clean and the neighborhood was wonderfully convenient. The room was clean, and beds were decently comfortable. The ceiling in the room was covered in long cracks with bubbling and water damage which was mildly concerning, especially with the snow and rain we had during our stay. During the 6 nights housekeeping never came, though checkout day they were knocking by 830am. On the 4th day we asked the front desk if someone could change our daughters sheets, trade our towels for clean ones, and remove the trash that had accumulated. The front desk said they would let housekeeping know. While we were all out they came and collected the towels but only left two clean ones to replace them, though there are four of us on the reservation. Later that day, while my husband and I were still out, a gentleman came up to our room and just gave my teenager a garbage bag and left. So she collected the garbage herself to toss. The television also needs some sort of update because it was not working very well and one of the days that we chose to spend some extra time in the room to relax, absolutely no channels were working at all. They even had to give us a separate code for the wifi because it would not work using my name and room number for some reason. The breakfast was plentiful and had many great options for everyone. The kids enjoyed the pool as well. With some small updates and better housekeeping communication this would be an exceptional hotel.

All staff was super friendly. Quite frankly surprised this is a Hilton hotel because the hotel is pretty run down. My room continually smelled like cigarettes and I think it was coming from beneath my floor because I also smelled intermittent food smells in the early morning hours. Miley guess is that I was above the kitchen or food prep area.This was very distracting but it was already too late for me to switch rooms.

The walls are paper thin and the place is way too noisy. Staff is not friendly. Room needed upkeep and updating.

Hotel needs updating. Room old and drab.

Some traffic noise from Meadowbrook Pkwy right next door to hotel, but generally quiet.

Furnace is old and loud and right next to double bed when it’s unfolded. Woke up too many times

I stayed with my son for three nights, and I chose this hotel because it has free Tesla chargers for guests. Everything perfect, except for the TVs that are not smart and you cannot see any of your platforms. Rahul, from the front desk, he is very friendly, professional and an excellent employee. Room was in rough shape. All furniture old , dingy and banged up. Wallpaper was buckled in many areas from leaks in the walls. Room was depressing and old. Would not recommend

Property is good. Kabir the night auditor checked me in and made sure to wait because I had multiple flight delays. Even though the person I spoke to on the phone did not put the note in my reservation like he assured me, Kabir was smart enough to wait for me. He was helpful and pleasant. I like that the hotel texted to check on me as well and ask me how my stay was going, never had that happen before! Free breakfast was good. Convenience store could use more items. This was a great stay.

I have to say the front desk staff were absolutely amazing. So positive and helpful to every single person who came by.

Let me preface my review by saying I have stayed at many Hampton Inn's and all are not equal. This property did not meet my expectations and the staff at the front desk was not very friendly, not that he was rude but he didn't offer me water as a Hilton Honors member nor did he tell me about the breakfast in the morning, which are standard items with the Hampton Inn brand. I would not stay there again nor would I recommend that property to anyone coming into the Garden City area.

Great staff

The lady at the front desk won’t allow me to check in at 11:30am and asked me to come back after 1pm with a bad attitude.

The lady at the front desk when i was extending my stay was inattentive, charged me 3 x in error and I questioned why she would need my card again. she said it didnt go through which was not true and I explained i already paid for it on expedia and gave her my confirmation number. They never cleaned the room - there was no sign on the door that said do not come in. The bathroom toilet was sluggish and would not go down. Now i get home and there are 3 charges for the hampton inn that should not be there and I am on the phone over 30 minutes and amd not convinced this is corrected. NEVER NEVER STAY THERE

The entire staff was exemplary of what customer service should be. Rahul was great as well as all the other front desk personnel. I will definitely recommend a stay at Hampton Inn Garden City, NY

Such a horrible experience at this hotel. Booked as we were visiting for a weekend wedding. Made a reservation a week ahead of arrival. Called the hotel 3 days before check in to add on an extra day but was told it was unavailable as they were completely booked, so I ended up booking at a different hotel. Was expecting to check in on Saturday with a confirmed reservation, called ahead around 6pm to let them know that I will be checking in late and was told someone would be there to check me in and that my room was ready. After a very lengthy drive we arrived at hotel at midnight, with 2 young children in tow only to be told by the Front desk that my reservation had been cancelled (no email indicating cancellation and neither was it showing as cancelled on Expedia) and that there was no rooms available for us. The front desk did try to “find” us a room however that did not happen. He was very apologetic but that didn’t get my family anywhere to sleep, after driving 10 hours!! Why is this allowed to happen? Had I not shown up wouldn’t I have been charged a fee and possibly 1 night fee for no show? Why is it that I am not compensated for showing up and my room not being available? Note we were not able to find a hotel room and had to rest for the night in our car. Also there were also 3 other persons that night with a confirmed reservation that was also struggling to find alternative accommodation even though they all had confirmed reservations. What an absolute nightmare!!!

Shout out to Christina at the reception desk! She was very professional and accommodating~ Went above and beyond, was a joy to speak with and the GM Brandon was such a nice guy! Would stay here in the near future, highly recommended!

We had a confirmed, fully prepaid room, and the hotel did not give us a room because it was supposedly overbooked(!). We were told that, even though everything was prepaid, Hampton Inn Garden City honors Expedia made reservations last in line, after they honor all the rest. Moreover, they did not offer ANY alternative! Needless to say that I will require a full refund, but I would suggest that Expedia take up this issue directly with the hotel and stop doing business with them. It is the first time something like this is happening but it was a very negative experience and extremely disappointing, to the point that not only shall I not ever consider this hotel in the future, but next time I will think twice before making a hotel reservation with Expedia, even if the probability of something like this is very low.

I liked That it was close and in walking distance of things.

Good location. Easy on and easy off the highway.

The location was ideal and close to shopping at 2 different malls. Food choices in the area was amazing.

The hotel was in a great location - close to a major shopping mall, plenty of dining options in the area, walking distance to a Whole Food Markets and other restaurants. The hotel was clean - the room was spacious (handicap) - although it was on the first floor and near the breakfast area - the room was quiet - I didn't hear any noise in the morning despite the hotel being filled with college kids for a sporting event - so that was great. Overall a good, clean, safe environment.

Great location

Spacious and clean room, very comfortable bed, quiet area close to shopping & dining, easy access to highway and main streets. One suggestion, the room should have had more drawer and closet space. Those were way too small for two people staying in town for 1 week.

Location is out of the way but conveniently nearby the mall, grocery store and shopping. Looks dataled but clean and comfy.

The breakfast assortment was absolutely terrible. The bacon was like plastic ... the bagels were like plastic even the yogurt was terrible. Everything else was really good but they really have to significantly improve the food - it was honestly the worst hotel breakfast I have ever had - if they can improve this - it would have been an excellent instead of good stay.

My stay overall was pleasant. Ive stayed at this lication 6 other times for business trips, but this time just a couple small nags. One of the elevators was down causing longer wzits to get up and down. Also, the coffee tasted terrible, like the dispensers werent being cleaned. I threw ou my coffee each of my 3 breakfasts there and went out to buy it elsewhere

We always enjoy staying in the Hampton Inn. The breakfasts are delicious and the room are comfortable.

Excellent value, rooms are clean as well as hallways and public areas. Breakfast is surprisingly good, no need to go out and staff are very helpful.

Lights in most areas are outdated and dim. Breakfast has limited items and prepared food is soggy and poorly done. Exit back door remains open which compromises safety. Room has funky smell.
