Room was great. Beds were very comfy. They have breakfast that's included that was delicious with lots of different options. Wish parking would of been included it was 56$ a night to park in the ramp. Would definitely stay here again.

Check in was quick and easy. I ordered dinner from the hotel restaurant and it was decent. Elevators are very slow to get to your floor. No ice machines but they will deliver ice to your room. Room was spacious but very cold. Thermostat set on 78 and it was still very drafty. The bathroom did not seem to have heat in it at all. Area was walkable and convenient. Evening security guard was kind.

Hotel is very good overall. Clean room, good breakfast. Half of the staff is very friendly and helpful, the other half acts like they are doing you a favor and don't put any effort on being nice. Hotel has no parking and the one they reference is not 24 hours (and in my case, they didn't mention it and I ended up paying 2 USD 55 overnight parking for my first night because of that, so that was my big frustration with my stay there.

Convenient location, clean, strong AC, surprisingly quiet, decent breakfast (but not worth $20). Only two elevators with max capacity of 5 people each. One of which was not functioning when i visited, and there was a constant line in front of the elevator. Has a small gym. Overall a pleasant stay and I would stay here again.

Very nice hotel. It was close to water tower place. Parking was very reasonable. The only problem was Our air conditioner did not keep our room cool enough and the hotel phone did not work.

My 2-star rating is only for the location of the hotel; we did not find this hotel anywhere near the Premier collection of hotels. The maintenance is below par - the exhaust was not working in the bathroom, the bathroom door lock was defective, and there was no microwave in the room. Though there was a parking lot just in front of the hotel, there was no parking concession for those staying at the hotel. $56 per day is too expensive, and for our stay of 4 nights, it almost cost around $250 just for parking our vehicle.

For the price and location, you cannot beat it. Yes, the building is old and a little dated, but it is a historic building which I thought was really cool. The rooms are clean and the staff was very nice and accommodating.

Very good location, room clean and confortable beds. Our expérience with breakfast wasn’t very good so we decided not to go on our second night. Quietness: Our room was located in front of the elevators, and we could ear noises from running water in the pipes from other rooms.

We stayed at the Whitehall Hotel for 4 nights. We were traveling as a couple.The location was great, about a half block off Michigan Avenue. Two blocks from the beach and very walkable to many of the locations we wanted to go, and to public transportation. The area was clean, and parking was easily accessible and felt safe. Overall, we were happy with this hotel and would probably stay again. Here are the things that weren't great. Hotel is very dated. Needs upgrades. No full length mirror in the rooms, which was annoying. We arrived and there was only one bath towel in our room for two people. Three regular pillows on the bed, and no hand soap of any kind. They only clean your rooms upon request , which must be received 24-hours in advance. They have notices about this, stating you can call them 24 hours a day with requests for things such as bedding, towels etc. We called and spoke with the hotel 3 separate times to get our one request for a bar of hand soap, an extra pillow and another bath towel fullfilled. It took over a full day for the towel and pillow to come. They never did provide us with a bar of hand soap, only some weird, really small bottles of bath gel that smelled bad and were hard to open with wet hands. The free breakfast was decent, but, they were always running out of things. Most days, rolls of paper towels instead of napkins. No plain packs of sugar. They would run out of food items on and were really slow to restock.

Charming room with classic decor and a nice view from the 21st floor. The bed was the most comfortable I may have ever slept on at a hotel. The bathroom was fairly large and very clean (but could probably do with updated fixtures in the shower-tub). Lobby staff were also quite pleasant and the mobile check-in & check-out was very convenient too. Overall a very pleasant stay and would definitely consider staying here again in the near future.

It was just ok. Hotel is a little outdated and the pictures definitely do it more justice. Room was overly cold even with heat on. Selection of things to watch on TV was extremely limited. We could hear everything in the room beside us and above us.

Very European type hotel. Dim lighting, dark wood. Very small elevator. Internet connection was not good in my room. No full length mirror anywhere in the hotel. Including in my room the light on the makeup mirror did not work. Applying makeup was challenging. microwave must be requested, but there is no additional charge. No fitted sheet on the bed. The sheet did not cover a portion of the bed. Sheet was too short. Complementary buffet breakfast was very good. Breakfast staff also very good and hard-working, especially the female staff number who always had a smile on her face.. if you're looking for a bare bones hotel in the Gold Coast at a reasonable price, you hit the jackpot with this hotel.

Great location. Very small room, a/c didn't cool well, but room was clean. Hotel is charming in a way, albeit small. The breakfast area in the morning was very congested and a little bit chaotic. Quality of breakfast was very poor. Hot food was cold and bland, very few options - a perk nonetheless since not many downtown hotels offer included breakfast.

The service and property quality was really disappointing for the rate. The staff seemed uninterested and indifferent. The room was dark and situated right in front of outside a/c vents making it impossible to sleep at night as the loud noise was constant. The bathroom had long black hair all over and the shower was hard to use as the water wasn't draining properly and it took us a whole lot of fuss calling maintenance as we couldn't figure how to get the water running and while this seems to be a regular complaint from guests (maintenance shared info), the hotel management doesn't seem to be interested in simply providing in room info on how to deal with the faucet. Breakfast is not impressive at all, as advertised. Rather Standard American Diet - Sad.. with a lot of sugary foods with low nutritional value. The hallway has very old carpet that smells very dusty.

If I were to book a hotel again I’d do my best to avoid this hotel. It has very limited amenities. They provided us with one bar of soap until we requested for me. We requested housekeeping a day ahead and came back to the same state we left our room in. For the price we paid it wasn’t enough. Front desk just apologized and that was that.

Stayed two nights. The first night the AC wasn’t working. It was a sweltering hot day. Technician came up after I called twice. Barely got it working, but half hour later it stopped all together. Hotel said didn’t have other rooms. Then tried to convince me that it’s working (it wasn’t). It was too late to find another hotel at midnight. Hotel refused to refund my stay. Moved me to another room the next day with working AC. Not sure how the hotel gets decent reviews. Maybe I just got an unlucky room but the service and attitude and refusal to refund is UNACCEPTABLE. I’m going to continue fighting for a refund just on principle.

A Disappointing Stay My recent 4-day stay was highly disappointing and fell far short of a 4-star experience. The hotel feels more like a 2-star property due to its outdated facilities and subpar service. The breakfast buffet was chaotic and unhygienic. Upon my arrival on 8/12/2025, (approximately 4:15 p.m.), my initial contact with Cheryl at the front desk was not professional or pleasant. She was not welcoming towards me. Her negative demeanor was evident, e.g. facial expressions, nonverbals. Shortly after I took my luggage to the room, I returned to the desk for parking validation assistance. Within seconds of her beginning to assist me, she summoned another guest from behind me to assist him first. A total disregard and disrespect towards me. Another guest walked up beside me expecting to be immediately assisted as well. She may have had an epiphany, as she advised that guest that she was currently assisting me, as she aggressively fumbled through the parking validation binder. My Guest shared his unpleasant experience with Cheryl. Suggested upgrades: lobby, elevators, carpet, room, specifically the bathroom. It appeared to be very outdated. The bathroom had a worn appearance, to include the knobs on the sink, tub, and toilet. The price and stay were not comparable. On a positive note, the bed was very comfortable. The number one advantage of The Whitehall Hotel is its awesome location half a long block from Michigan Avenue, the John Hancock Building, and Water Tower. The rooms are a bit dated, but quiet and clean (I was in 1702, with a corner view of the city, facing I think south and west). Prices are very reasonable compared the Four Seasons across the street!

I had a great experience at the WhiteHall. Even though it is not a modern hotel the stay went well! It was my first time visiting Chicago and the location was perfect! Everything was walking distance from the mall to the beach to great restaurants! The breakfast they served was really good too! The only down side was the lighting in the rooms other than that I would stay here again!

Came to Chicago for Market Days. This was the closest hotel to North Halsted with vacancy. The room and the facilities were fine, but the free breakfast was probably the worst I have ever had at a hotel. Also, the toiletries were not great (poor quality and inconsistent offerings). Very European type hotel. Dim lighting, dark wood. Very small elevator. Internet connection was not good in my room. No full length mirror anywhere in the hotel. Including in my room the light on the makeup mirror did not work. Applying makeup was challenging. microwave must be requested, but there is no additional charge. No fitted sheet on the bed. The sheet did not cover a portion of the bed. Sheet was too short. Complementary buffet breakfast was very good. Breakfast staff also very good and hard-working, especially the female staff number who always had a smile on her face.. if you're looking for a bare bones hotel in the Gold Coast at a reasonable price, you hit the jackpot with this hotel.

TV did not work and they were unable to fix it until late on the second night. Breakfast food was cold (even the pancakes and eggs). The nightstand clock did not work and they were never able to fix it. Front desk staff was friendly. The engineer who eventually was able to fix the TV was also friendly.

We had dinner there first night very good, and bartender very pleasant. We enjoyed it so much we visited him after our long day for a night cap.Bed very comfortable, only thing we forgot our body wash thinking they had it with shampoo and conditioner and lotion.
