The BEST hotel we could have asked for travelling with our two dogs. We are currently on a road trip though the US with our dogs and for a large city it was better accomodation than anywhere else we have found along the way. Cannot recommend it enough. Great location, no pet fee, and clean rooms!

Booked the property because my fiancé was flying in and my condo building was undergoing construction. Only to find massive construction and renovations at the hotel, a conference room restaurant, and charged for parking multiple times despite not having the option to opt out originally.

Room was well air conditioned. The restaurant and bar on the first floor were great! The gym was very average. Bummed there wasn’t a convenient microwave or water/ice machine for guests to use. Other than that, service was quick and helpful!

This is pleasant, clean and friendly place. I would recommend to anyone who wants good value in the Gold Coast/Michigan Avenue area. Nice common areas.

The rooms were supposed to be non-smoking, however, in the room next to mine guests were smoking marijuana the entire weekend - so my room and the hallways nearby smelled like skunk. I requested shampoo and conditioner - I was told by the front desk clerk that someone would bring it to my room - never arrived. The morning after my arrival I was seated on the patio for breakfast. It took the waitress 15-20 minutes to acknowledge me, once she does, I order a coffee and did not see her for almost another 30 minutes. Then waited another 30 minutes for her to take my breakfast order - the manager had to remind her that I had been there for a while as she must have forgot - the waitress thought this was funny, me not so much.

Loved staying at the Talbot with one exception. Room was nice but the view, not so much. Literally looked out on the roof of the first floor and air conditioning units from room 206. Would’ve been nice to get some sort of a view rather than tar, rocks, and a/c units. In the end though I just needed a good night’s sleep in a nice room and that’s what I got! On the high end though, the staff was amazing from the valet, to the desk clerks, to the wait staff and chef. All great in an excellent neighborhood full of great options. Lots of local flavor around and within walking distance, for those who are up for a little walking, of many things Chicago…Navy Pier, Michigan shopping, etc… Overall worth it and I will be coming back. I’ll pay for a better view next time:-).

The property was in the perfect location and was very clean. My only complaints was the bed was very stiff and the room was very hot and we could not get it to cool down at all, even with the thermostat to off it was 77 degrees in the room.

Great staff, large room, and very comfortable bed. Room even included a small walk-in closet. Nice location -- very close to Bloomingdales, Oak Street, Hancock Building, etc. Only negatives were some small stains on the wall and a low shower head (I am over six feet tall).

It was located closed to all shopping areas. Only issue was that the view from our room was horrible. We asked for a view of the city but was given a view of a brick wall 10 ft away. But I wasn’t there to sit in room all day but a better view to wake up to would have been nice. Overall I’d recommend it and staff was wonderful and place was clean.

Great location within steps of shopping and amazing restaurants! Everyone working here was wonderful and very kind. Our room was a double queen - very large with three people we didn’t feel like we were stepping on each other. The room is a bit dated…comfortable but falls short of the neighborhood and lobby feel. Room was more courtyard feel than a boutique brand from Marriott. Bar had some great drinks and we met some great people over the weekend.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were small and had a terrible view but were comfortable and clean. We had a little noise but not bad. The phone didn't work and when we used the privacy feature, it locked us out of our room and we had to have our cards reset. The restaurant was decent and convenient but over priced. We liked them location. Would stay here again.

Our stay at the hotel was not bad. My main issue was with the people working the front desk. I have worked in customer service and was shocked how unfriendly the staff are. Not a good morning may I help you, Welcome to the Talbott or even asked how our 5 night stay was going? Not to mention the fact that they ended up charging my credit card twice for the room when we checked in. They did resolve the issue the next day when i questioned the charge. I found it intersecting that they were unable to answer my question on the subway costs. You would think that the front desk would be able to answer questions on the city, that is why you go to the front desk to get help or information about the city you have come to visit and paid a premium to stay at their hotel!! The restaurant staff and cleaning staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The room wasn't ready at the appropriate time. The check-in line was so very long and people weren't happy. Limited staff to take care of guests. Not enough cleaning staff since quite a large number of people were asked to wait for rooms to be ready and no clear answer as to when rooms would be ready. Room was basic (it had a view of the building mechanicals) and the toilet backed up (however, it was taken care of quickly). The restaurant staff and food were very good and the only bright spot at this hotel. All in all, meh. Too costly for what it is.

From the moment we checked in I should have known better. I experienced a cold and unwelcoming check-in. The room was not the room I had reserved. I called down to the front desk and stated the error. They tell me they're sold out of the other room so this is what I get. Why was I not informed of this when I checked in 15 mins ago. This isn't what I paid for but I let it slide. The next day I receive an email and I have been double invoiced. Each invoice charged for a destination fee and valet. Total of 98.06 yet my bank statement says l02.06. not only was I double charged but I was charged more than my invoice states.

Location was perfect for walking around. Very safe and clean area. Room was lovely, very spacious and had nice amenities. The check in was fast. I found it odd that a 4 star hotel asked if it was ok if we only got 1 room key as they didnt have enough to give 2. Also they didnt have the vouchers for the restaurant, told us to come back later for them and they still didnt have them but just to go to the restaurant and tell them about it. The server at the restaurant was condescending and rude. She did not mention it was happy hour, when i went to the podium to ask for the menu the guy there shuffled some papers around in a drawer and said he didnt have one and had to go print more. He never came back. So i had to go on their website for the happy hour menu. Then the bill came wrong twice with the vouchers not applied correctly. It was just annoying. Little things like these are disappointing for a 4 star hotel.

At first, it seemed like the Talbott was all about its location -- which is perfect for a downtown Chicago/Gold Coast experience. The important museums and fine restaurants are all within easy access. The building itself is spectacular, but the amenities in the rooms not much more than what you'd find in a Best Western Plus. But as the experience over two days played out, it became clear that what sets the Talbott apart is its people. From the servers in the restaurant (certainly NOT a Best Western), to the front desk clerk to the doorman, the Talbott employs an attentive, professional staff that really set it apart from other hotels I've stayed at. They are what make the Talbot an exclusive hotel.

The service at the hotel restaurant needs improvement for sure. However, the staff of the hotel was extremely helpful and nice every time that we needed something or asked for something. There was no safe in my room for whatever reason, and they immediately went and found an extra one and delivered it to the room. They gave my friends that came with me everything that they needed as well.

As soon as you walk in, friendly staff members greet you and you notice the stylish decor. My room was pleasant and set up well, and I also enjoyed using the lobby lounge spaces. I was glad my reservation included breakfast because I found the meal options delicious. I stayed 3 nights and had a great breakfast/brunch each morning.
