Excellent hotel and great location. staff are very helpful and friendly. Particular shout out to Sam in the fitness center. He remembers everyone's names and is just fun! It would be an even better hotel if they had a pool and/or hot tub.

They are under major renovation at the front so you may want to avoid until done. I do like the hotel generally, and I love the back patio for cocktails in the afternoon. It is located downtown so you can walk almost anywhere. The rooms are nice and fairly spacious. The cost for a room with a view is much higher though. The food is pretty good for a hotel - they hand make their chips so that is must have!

I did not like the unforeseen extra $25 a day they added to our bill that they called a credit but if we didn’t spend it at the hotel it remained on our bill. And parking was very expensive. The hotel was otherwise nice and the location was good.

convenient location, pretty quite, nice lounge. We sat outside and enjoyed the night air for a while as the area in front of the hotel is somewhat protected by being on a side street. They had valet parking that is $$ but worth it not to have to mess with parking, to me. I have stayed there twice with no complaints.

We DO not recommend breakfast there. We were told that the USD 25 destination fee can be spent towards it. This was the only reason for us to have breakfast there. We ordered two steak cut oatmeal’s for each USD 16 and got basically nothing. Every bakery on the corner serves it better and bigger for a third on the price. Coffee was poured without being asked and USD 5 were charged for it. After a complaint at check out it was taken off the receipt. In adoption we were however told that the destination fee can only be used on the day of check in. I.e. we were charged for the full breakfast. This was only credited towards the breakfast after discussion. The same happened with the WiFi, which it is said to be included in the destination fee but nevertheless charged. Rooms ok. Location very good

Loved the view and location of our room. Also, the bedding was very comfortable. The only issue we had was the fact that the price of the room was pretty high but then on top of the price they charged a daily “destination fee.” When I asked what that was for they informed me that anyone who stays there pays this fee. It wasn’t about the $20.00, it just that we already paid a high price with various fees, so instead of charging this ridiculous fee just add it to the price of your stay so your guests don’t feel like they are being taken advantage of with all the side fees.

Everything was great except the bathroom had a smell of urine. I think the waste can may have had diapers in it at some point and needed to be replaced as it picked up the smell. Also the bathrobe had make up on it. The cleaning staff may need to pay a little better attention.

The property is definitely dated. The bathroom had the most wear. Visible cobwebs along the ceiling molding in our room. Overall, it wasn’t terrible but definitely nothing special.

From the moment of entering the Westin the cleanliness is noticeable. The lobby and bar area is super clean and comfy! Every employee we made contact with was incredibly helpful and nice! The location of being on the river is very nice too.

The hotel is located in a good area with a beautiful view of the city. The staff was really friendly. The room I stayed at was very spacious and very clean. The bathroom as well. I would a hundred percent recommend this hotel and for sure would come back.

Beautiful hotel, centrally located in downtown Chicago, with staff who provided outstanding customer service. The hotel was extremely clean and our room was extremely roomy and comfortable. I will definitely come back to this hotel the next time I go to Chicago!

This hotel was five star quality. The rooms were spacious and well shut up and were extremely comfortable. The staff and service were excellent. They met our every need and we’re very willing to help in any way they could during our stay. I would highly recommend the Westin river north to anyone visiting Chicago.

The property was nice. The valet parking stuff/Doorman was excellent. The buffet was over priced/ expensive. The beds in my was extremely uncomfortable. They seems to be smaller than the usual double queens.

The room/hotel was clean. We had a dark room because of the position of our room/ window with the height of the other buildings around us so we had to always have the lights on. They gave us two bath towels, one for each of us. My boyfriend showered a couple of times to get the “city grit” off him, and had to use the same towel each time. It seemed like too much trouble to ask them to send up more towels for such a short stay, so we made due. The “fridge” in the room wasn’t a fridge at all. It was a “cooling unit”. Not really sure the purpose of it because it’s designed not to go below 47 degrees which is warmer than a typical fridge. The sign said if we wanted it colder, contact the front desk. We went to dinner and had leftovers so we stopped at the front desk on the way up and asked to have it turned down. He said it can’t be turned down but called maintenance to see if they had any extra fridges. They did not. So we had to get ice and put that in the fridge over a hand towel and closed the door which worked fine but still not sure of the point of a “ cooling unit”. Even pop or water wouldn’t get as cold as you’d like it so why have the stupid thing at all. If you’re trying to be eco friendly, then just remove the fridge entirely. 47 degrees isn’t very cold so why have it. The experience was just ok. We won’t be back.

Great location along the river with easy access to everything in downtown Chicago. One of the quietest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. We didn’t hear any noise from the hallway or other rooms.

Everything was very good, except the A/C. Before the A/C starts there is a loud bang then then the A/C start. Very annoying when trying to sleep.

Multiple hundreds worth charged at the bar when I was not even in the hotel. Hotel claims it was an inadvertent mischarge from another guest and would be corrected. I had to prove my identity to buy a drink and snack from their convenience area, so not sure how they can make that mistake at the bar. Still waiting for my refund. The charges were immediate, so where's my refund?

My husband and I arrived early and were able to check in. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was perfect as all of our planned activities were within a 15-20 minute walk, (for the most part). Could have used a complimentary coffee station but Starbucks is available for purchase in the hotel, (limited menu). Decent bar. We’d stay here again.

Nice large rooms. Good bar. Buffet breakfast was good. Blue Mercury and CVS steps away for supplies. Super close to the riverfront where you can have a long stroll or go for a run. As well as a view of the river - was right across from the House of Blues so could see if there was a line up! Overall great location. Would definitely stay there again.

The hotel was great, the staff was friendly, location is wonderful. Food, meh. Very expensive, not good (breakfast), they fill up your coffee cups and then charge you $5 a cup, even when you didn’t ask for or drink coffee. I would definitely stay again, just not partake in the restaurant feature of the hotel. Everything else was great!

Front desk staff member wasn't very clear with communication, or very friendly at that. Didn't seem willing to help with any special requests, or to direct me to the right people. We also weren't informed that the special credit we received with our stay had to have been used almost immediately for us to take advantage of. Room service was lackluster, and was delivered in to go containers, and they even forgot one of the meals ordered. The price of this hotel for a one night stay was definitely not worth it. Pretty disappointed.

Beds are hard as a rock Stay away from the coffee service. It’s not only overpriced which is expected but it’s terrible. Starbucks should consider taking their name away Staff is friendly and location is perfect
