Guest reviews

What guests think

AI-generated summary based on recent guest reviews

Across recent reviews, Super 8 by Wyndham Des Moines is described as a run-down property with frequent cleanliness problems, missing basics like towels and toilet paper, many broken room features, and check-in handled at the neighboring Baymont instead. Guests repeatedly report closed or unavailable amenities (no breakfast, nonworking pool, broken ice/TV/Wi‑Fi) and security concerns, including unlocked entrances and an overall sketchy environment. Service is often absent or unhelpful, with long waits, refund disputes, and difficulty reaching staff, though a few mention friendly employees and low prices. Overall, expect a bare-bones stay with significant trade-offs and a high risk of disappointment.

Felt like a bait and switch. Reeked of marijuana and urine. Bad lighting, ac sounded possessed, holes, stains, one lumpy pillow per bed. We walked in, made a call and drove the 4 hours back home since we weren’t going to be refunded. Saw the ‘pool’, looked like a swamp since it’s actually out of commission, as we were going back to the car. Perfect amenities for a flop house, not so much for a safe comfortable place to sleep.
