The property is dated and very worn down. I was shocked that they would allow a Westin to be this shabby. The real issue is that they mention valet parking as an upcharge but never mentioned that it is the only parking option. No self parking... and they don't feel the need to disclose that on the listing and when I mentioned that to the front desk at check in she wasn't interested in having that conversation with us. So, the room was $80 more a day than you plan on and it gets expensive very fast.

The only thing we didn't like was that it took forever for the elevators to get to us, at first it was ok but later on, no matter if you were on the Main Floor or the Floor that your room was on. it was really frustrating to have to wait almost 10 min for an elevator. But Overall Our stay was Amazing

The only bad thing about this property is the daily “destination fee” that is $25/day but then is also taxed, so it’s really &30 per day. There’s a Starbucks in the lobby but it is the smallest Starbucks ever and the sundries are marked up, we paid $7 for a bottle of water.

We usually stay at another property further south on Michigan Ave., but I decided to try the Westin all the way north. The Website says there is no parking at the hotel, so we had to park across the street at the Hancock Tower parking garage. It's a bit of a hassle, as you have to take two different elevators and pay via machine (one was out of order). The Westin itself...staff was friendly at check-in. The room smelled like a pet room that had been sprayed with deodorizer to cover it up (but it didn't). My daughter, who is allergic to cats, said her eyes were itching shortly after we got in the room. Other things...there were what appeared to be blood stains on the floor by my bed, in addition to white stains on my bed's headboard (don't want to know what those were...). Pretty gross. The toilet paper holder in the bathroom was broken, and the roll kept falling off. The toilet seat wouldn't stay up by itself (had to hold it). The shower head was one of those "rainfall" types, but it was clogged, so we had to use the handheld sprayer as the shower head. The T.V. remote was worn out, so you had to push each button really, really hard and aim it perfectly at the T.V. The HVAC control panel was cumbersome, and we had to hit multiple buttons multiple times to change any setting. Regardless of temperature, the room always felt kind of humid. My daughter put a pillow on the sitting chair in the room because of the stains on the cushion. It's not a great property. We won't return.

What Expedia didn't mention is that they impose a $23 a day amenities fee that you can apply to purchases charged to your room, but only up to $20 a day. Hotel was very good. Great location for our needs. Staff was lovely and helpful. The ‘resort fee’ was explained at checkin. Nice to get some of it back as free Starbucks coffee or drinks but this resort fee is a scam and feels like way to get more money for nothing. Read the fine print as you book. It is not a resort with resort amenities.

Great location. Concierge Alfredo was very nice as were the s front desk, and cleaning staff. Hotel is outdated. and poorly maintained. Needs to be cleaner. Several areas were beyond dusty. Floors were not vacuumed. Walls were dirty. I expect so much more from a Westin.

I’ve stayed at Westins numerous times. This time however I noticed that this specific property simply didn’t meet or match other Westins I’ve stayed at. The room was dirty - walls chipped, bathroom had absolutely no toiletries such as shower cap, q tips etc. The bathroom wall paper was torn and the mirror was dirty and chipped. The door to the room was filthy and the desk area, furniture was worn so much so that it simply looked dirty. I appreciate the kind staff and willingness to help. Overall I was disappointed.

There was a stain on our comforter and we let them know and put it outside. It was never replaced even when they “cleaned” the room. When they “cleaned” the room the bed was not remade just blankets straightened and pillows on the floor. The air conditioner didn’t stay on so it was warm and stuffy in the room.

Had a terrible time at this hotel. The A/C didn't work well at all and we were incredibly hot even when it was just 70 degrees outside. The check-in process took over an hour even though it was 8:30pm on a Wednesday, the lines were so long and the support staff was limited. The room itself smelled so awful, it was like something was dead in there. The A/C was unable to go to normal levels so we sweat throughout the night. The worst part was that a housekeeper tried to enter our room without knocking or announcing she was entering, and this is while we were getting dressed in the morning. Overall, I was really unhappy with our stay and would advise people to not go here.

I really like staying here. I like that they have a place to purchase water onsite. I like the ease of checking in and out. I usually get a suite and like to have the extra room. A few small things would make it better: the room I usually stay in smells musty, as if the carpet hasn’t been cleaned in a decade and even room freshener won’t mitigate it. Also, I would like to have control over the temperature. When I came in the summer, the room itself was quite cool and I couldn’t seem to get the room to warm up. Even after the engineer came and bumped my ability to put the room at 74 it still was quite cold in the room. So it would be nice to be able to have control over the thermostat. Just a thought

I do believe the Westin franchise is relying on their name and reputation at this point. The hotel felt dated. Lobby furniture was stained and old. You could tell it's in need of a renovation. The room was a decent size. I appreciated how spacious it was. However, you could see that the room was not the best quality or cleaned properly. Bathroom and carpet felt dated. Saw hair on the towels and make up stsins from previous guests. The refrigerator also had a smell that would not go away. For the price, i would recommend staying elsewhere.

The stay was just OK although the hotel good location and looked nice from the outside. The check-in staff was not very friendly or accommodating in anyway this was my first trip to Chicago and it was a quick overnight to watch the Cubs game with a friend. The room was small and we could not get it to cool down. There were no real amenities in the room. It was no different than a Holiday Inn or Hampton Inn so for the price it’s really not worth it. We checked in after the game and asked the staff if there was anywhere we could get dessert and the answer was no they had no suggestions for us. I asked him if the room had a nice view and they said “if you like, looking at the street”.

It was a nicer spot than most hotels at a comparable rate. The only complaint we had was the noisiness of the hallways near the rooms. There was constant traffic in the hallways and very loud knocks on neighboring doors at all hours of the day by hotel personnel. At late hours, housekeeping would knock on doors and yell "housekeeping". There was a service engineer that would knock 6-7 times a day on a door near ours and shout "engineering". It seems like there was work needing to be done on the 4th floor but we weren't warned. We were woken up at random hours by these noises.

The property itself is a bit dated but was comfortable and convenient for all our other needs in the area. The house keeping team was doing a fine job until they forgot to clean our room and leave clean towels for the last night of our stay. The final bill was sent via email and I could see that there were many additional charges on the bill that shouldn't be there. I followed up with the front desk and they were able to take care of this.

There was no room available and they had to place me in a different hotel. The staff was not apologetic and handled it poorly in my opinion. They also could have communicated with me earlier to let me know and not when I checked in at 10:30pm at night.

The Westin on Michigan Avenue is a well-located nice hotel. it is well kept, and maintained and the staff was excellent. The rooms and bathroom were spacious and clean. The check in was a little chaotic and the lobby by the desk was often crowded and hard to navigate. They need a better flow or more people at certain times of the day to move things along more quickly. Errors were made at check-in that had to be resolved when the bill was reviewed - I think this could be avoided if it wasn't so crazy at check-in. Also, any hotel room that doesn't have outlets for plugging in cell phones, etc, on both sides of the bed is not great.

Had a terrible time at this hotel. The A/C didn't work well at all and we were incredibly hot even when it was just 70 degrees outside. The check-in process took over an hour even though it was 8:30pm on a Wednesday, the lines were so long and the support staff was limited. The room itself smelled so awful, it was like something was dead in there. The A/C was unable to go to normal levels so we sweat throughout the night. The worst part was that a housekeeper tried to enter our room without knocking or announcing she was entering, and this is while we were getting dressed in the morning. Overall, I was really unhappy with our stay and would advise people to not go here.

We had an excellent stay at the Westin. The hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. We love the location. We’ve stayed here before and absolutely love the ability to walk to Oak St., Beach and 900 shops and so many wonderful restaurants in the area, particularly like Doc B’s. When we arrived, there was no remote for the TV in the room and the television was on. A quick call to room service and someone brought the remote up within minutes. Otherwise, the room was clean and comfortable, and even a great view. This time we had a city view last time we had a lake view they’re all great. When we checked in, I mentioned it was our 35th anniversary. The manager gave us two free drink tickets. We will definitely stay here again in fact, we just booked a night in November at the Westin and we often recommend it to many of our friends.

I was booked from Friday till Monday yet left Sunday afternoon to return to all my belongings missing from my room. Was told housekeeping must have thought I checked out. No one seemed to take it serious and I had to continue to go down to ask to speak to someone just to be told they would do a report yet never gave me the claim number. I emailed corporate and have not heard anything yet.

I would highly recommend the Westin Michigan Ave. It’s the perfect location. You can look out your window at the iconic Hancock building. Great shopping around. A lot of tours pick up right there at Water Tower place. On a little bit of a side street for easier taxi/uber pick up/drop off. Highly recommend.

Staff were very friendly and helpful also a good location. The only minor issue was the room service wait time. It was supposed to be ASAP (1/2 hour) wait time but it was almost an hour. Had they told me it was going to take that long it would have been fine and I would have grabbed a coffee somewhere on the way to my appointment instead of not having time to eat the $60.00 breakfast.

A warm welcome, a well-appointed room, daily Garrett's popcorn, Starbucks on site, and a prime location for shopping make this Westin an excellent choice for places to stay along Miracle Mile! We didn't expect to pay a destination fee, but the benefits far outweighed the additional expense.

Great location and the hotel itself was clean and quiet in the evening for the most part. The hotel staff were very accommodating and friendly. The staff that worked in the lobby’s Starbucks, not so much, plus the food and drinks sold there were WAY too overpriced.

Great location. Westin properties are consistent in amenities. Guest services were on point. This is an older property as to be expected not as quiet, hall noise. I will add both nights big parties were happening in the restaurant. We had an early flight out and opted for The breakfast buffet. It was mediocre-even with the credit it is overpriced for the quality and most food was lukewarm.

This is in a fancy part of town, across from the Hancock bldg. There are tons of great restaurants. The shops are… also fancy, translated - mostly for window shopping. It would be awesome if they had 2 people serving coffee in the morning because the line is long.

Great time and great stay. Wish the room was ready earlier. We were able to get an upgrade but they were not able to tell when the room would be ready (it was nearing 4pm) and we had dinner plans. We did take another room that was ready. We waited in the bar for quite a while before settling on the second choice room.
