Very nice relaxation areas with various games options, and just general ambience of the area.

A really lovely place to stay!! The communal area was great with a large variety of games to play!! Did not use the spa facilities however Mubi did provide us a tour of these, the spa was to an exceptional standard! Will definitely look into booking next time I stay!! Both Steve and Mubi were lovely hosts. Very kind individuals. Look forward to staying with them again soon!

Nice location near many restaurants but pretty quiet. Easy walk to beaches. Fairly big room with comfortable bed and sofa bed. Nice common area with billiards, air hockey, foosball, and video game console. The spa area seemed nice but was a tad too pricey for family use.

Always a pleasure to stay at Ashby’s. Stayed here on numerous occasions including for a birthday!! Steve and Mubi were great at accommodating everything I needed including birthday decorations. The spa was lovely, hot tub extremely spacious set to the perfect temperature. Communal area had a wide array of games to play, great for some competitive fun! A lovely place for a little getaway! Overall an amazing experience as per usual! Cannot wait to book to stay again :)

Amazing find for a night away. Right in the middle of Southsea surrounded by bars and restaurants. The hosts were amazing and the accommodation was spotless. We’ll definitely be back with our daughter to enjoy all of the facilities on offer. Thanks for having us!

Steve was really friendly and helped us find a nice place for dinner and breakfast. Kindly sorted a parking space on the property as I think it was a quiet night. But there’s also a huge car park on the other side of the building. More to do at the property than we realised. The communal area is brilliant. Don’t waste your money in the arcades as there’s loads to do at the hotel: pool, air hockey, table tennis, old school games table (pac man etc), sound system to choose your own music. Also use of a fairly big kitchen so you could quite easily make dinner or breakfast at the property. The rooms were really nice. Old Victorian seaside property but renovated and modernised tastefully with some lovely furnishings, cushions, chandelier etc. So pleased we chose this over the holiday inn. We would 100% stay again and wish we’d checked in earlier to have more time to check out the spa area.

I've stayed here a few times when I'm working in Portsmouth. The owners are very friendly and helpful and will give you a quick guided tour of the hotel and all it's amenities, which include the full use of the games room (table tennis, pool, air hockey, pac man, i-pad juke box, board games and large kitchen area). Parking is in a council car park right next to the hotel. A reduced rate is available from the hotel if you ask. The rooms are spot on and very comfortable, i think they all have a small kitchen area with a fridge, toaster, kettle, microwave and sink. It's literally 1 min walk into the high street with some great looking classy restaurants and bars. I would highly recommend this hotel and would have no hesitation in staying here with my family if we were in the area. P.s no height restrictions on the car park

Very welcoming and helpful, facilities great. Disappointing that the hot tub was chargeable at £25 per person for 1 hours use,, heat and steam also £25 person.. so for the two of us it would of been £100 😵\u200d💫. Would rather have paid a bit extra for the room and had use of them for free,,

It's nice and quite place, If you book as a group can be quite enjoyable as they have game room(tennis table, pool and ….).Nice and helpful staff. But feedback of 10 out of 10 that they have on this site is to good to be true. It is more like you rent a room without any service or extras and you have to bring everything with you, the fridge in the room was faulty and for studio was too small which make it impassable to cook or do anything else in the room. Bed was almost touching cooking stove and washing machine. There is a kitchen in the property that you can use instead but what is the point to get studio than? There weren't any wardrobe to hanging clothes in this called studio and to be honest it was a room only not studio that they charge extra for. If you like a feeling of a average or budget hotel room than this isn't for you, no any services ,cleaning or even a toilet roll.so it's just a room. Cleaning when checked in was 3 out of 5,(shower and the washing tap was so dirty as well. So over all experience I would say 3 out of 5 and If I would visit another time? absolutely No. It might be the problem only for this room (room 1) as I haven't seen other rooms. But if it became busy than this room 1 would be an absolute unpleasant as it's next to entrance and game room.

Fantastic hotel!! Close to park, restaurants, cool coffee shops and bars. Hotel itself has a BYOB bar area with loads of amenities that are all free to use including pool table tennis and table football. Sky sports on a massive screen and a kitchen to keep your beer and wine chilled. We had a family room which was very spacious with a spotless ensuite bathroom. Room had tea and coffee and the lovely owners really make you feel very welcome. This boutique hotel is great for families and couples and for the money we could not fault it. We didn't have time to use the Spa but if it's anything like the rest of the hotel then I'm sure it would be special. This was our first time in Portsmouth and we wouldn't stay anywhere else if we return.

Mubi, who showed me around was delightful and every interaction with the owners was warm and supportive. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. I would have preferred a more accessible socket for charging my phone but it was still doable and no real inconvenience.

What a great hotel. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and really helpful sorting parking and making up a pullout bed. The major benefit of this hotel is the great communal area that has a pool table air hockey table tennis, and a kitchen and bar area where you can bring your own food and drinks Which was great for our 2 teenagers. The rooms were lovely, really clean and comfortable. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again

Great check in experience - picked up the key from next door and given a detailed tour of the wide ranging facilities. The superior doublw was a large spacious room with a super king size bed provided a very comfortable night's sleep. Great shower although the shower room needs some TLC. Excellent value for money.

Unfortunately this was not the right fit for us. Our room was in the next building and we had to go through main hotel and into another house. The room was in the attic and the stairs were incredibly steep. I made sure I took everything I needed when left as I did not want to do the stairs again. The main problem really was the room as it was small, uncomfortable with low roof and the shower was awful. Pressure was bad and it just complete stopped running when my husband was in the shower,it was like a wet room and flooded the floor and no extractor fan .. No tea / coffee etc Maybe other rooms would be better , but we could not wait to leave.

The room we had was very small - the bed took the most of it - it was not visible on the photos when we booked it. Also, it was not shown in the photos that the ceiling in the bathroom was sloping which proved to be difficult for my very tall boyfriend. Such details should be shown in the pictures to make a proper booking.

The hotel is of a good standard. My bed was uncomfortable as it was a sofa bed but the king size one in the room was great. The host was very obliging and changed it immediately. Loads of parking nearby and not too expensive in the car park at rear of property. Overall happy and would stay again 👍

Wonderful stay with very friendly hosts

Booked the Ashby's House last minute and asked if they were able to do any special requests for my partner's birthday. They definitely delivered! The hosts Steve and Mubi are so personable, friendly and professional. The room was immaculate. They even played happy birthday and had an LED birthday sign up on our arrival in the room which was such a nice touch. The spa was amazing! And such a great idea to have it as private booking for the hour it definitely makes the experience just that much more. 10/10 on every aspect I will be recommending this place to friends and family :)

Absolutely amazing stay, it’s not always easy to find good accommodation within the “business budget” but this was perfect, when checking in we mentioned that we we’re staying away from home to work nightshifts and that we had booked for a quieter stay and instantly they sorted us out and made sure our rooms were in quiet parts of the hotel and that out stay was comfortable. Could not thank them enough for making our stayaway much more pleasant. We will be sure to stay again in a few weeks when we’re next working down there😁. 10/10.

Fabulous stay! Friendly and welcoming, in an excellent location. Parked the car day 1 and didn’t use again until we left 3 days later. Loved the games area in the evenings! High recommend!

Weekend away with my wife, excellent location plenty to do and see

Rooms were great, common areas were excellent fun and a real bonus. Location was great, 1min walk from great restaurants and bars, and 30min walk from outlet village with great shops and food also

Beautiful room, very warm welcome and a short walk to the Kite Festival on the Common. Vegan restaurant around the corner, what more could we ask for. Would definitely recommend Ashby’s and hope to visit again.
