Hampton Inn Van Horn

We went here for the pool but it was broke down.

Nice gym, above average breakfast.

Clean and spacious room. The breakfast was very good. Easy parking, great staff.

Nathan greeted us in and although the elevator was inoperable her made sure we had a first floor room. Everything about the building seemed new but I found out it was almost 20 years old. They were in the process of upgrading the landscaping to enhance the curb appeal. The only minor issue I had was that the rear security door didn’t close all the way when you walk through so be sure to pull it shut. I told the staff

My room was clean and fine. But there are several issues with the hotel in general. They said there was a green space for animals, but it was all rock and cactus. The elevator to the second floor is broken and has been for a long time. The hot tub is broken and doesn’t work.

Pool was under construction. Hot in the lobby but I know the outside temp was high.

I have stayed in this hotel twice in the last 6 months and both times the elevator has been out of service. It’s a new hotel but seems to have some major service issues.

The staff & facility were amazing, but the pet fee ($50 fee + $50 deposit) was way too much. I don’t mind paying extra when there is a dog park or a place to walk a dog. Except for the small perimeter area directly around the hotel, the area adjacent to the parking lot (near the poop bags) was filled with burrs, weeds & liter. It would take very little effort/expense to remove the burrs, mow, and maintain a small area for dogs to be safely walked.

The tiniest Hampton Inn on the planet! The room was good. The hotel was poor. They are undergoing renovations, which seem to have gone on a long time. It looks like work stopped a long time ago. Black plastic on the ground. Windows all had a white filmy grit. (I tried to clean ours on the outside, but it would have taken a razor blade.) The front door was open at 3 AM and no one at the desk. (Took 10 min.s to get someone to respond to check in. I had a long chat with another guy waiting there before me.) Someone sleeping with a sleeping bag in the lobby.

Overall a good place. Elevator has not worked for a few months now (didnt need it but could be of concern)

We took a road trip from San Antonio to Southern California. We stayed at your facility in Las Cruces NM and Scottsdale AZ. Both of those were great! We stayed in Van Horn TX last night. When we drove up if I hadn’t already paid for the room we would have left. The exterior is weeds and dirt, some rock. Front door dirty. Reception area was non existent, just a counter no ambiance, worn out area rug and it was almost as hot inside as outside. The clerk was very efficient. We parked right outside the door to the entrance of where our room was. The door had a hole where a lock once was. You could just open the door, no security at all. There is a scanner that you would use your room card to unlock it, but you didn’t need it. Our room appeared clean but smelled bad. The bathroom looked clean but had a smell like old urine. Two pictures hanging side by side had one hanging by one nail so it was lopsided. Don’t know how housekeeping could not see it. I reported it to the front desk and showed her a picture of it as I didn’t want to be charged like I had broken it. She was very unconcerned about that and the smell. Floor grout in entry and bathroom dirty. Soap dispenser was sitting on the counter with the mounting bracket attached to it and the lotion dispenser was hanging loose on the wall.The parking lot was dirty, the whole place just looked unkempt. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast options were fine, typical hotel food.Definitely would not stay at the Van Horn location again.

The room was great, very clean, great place to stay. Staff always knowledgeable and helpful.

luck of cleanses. i was going to take a shower, then i realized the bathtub was not clean. i see stains from hardwater. it,s a hotel business, cleanliness is important. the foods are all same as other IHG hotels. same frozen eggs and bacons. AC units are so loud.

The staff was very friendly. However the room we were given had several problems: Direct Tv guide never worked on the remote despite having the front desk come and look at it. The telephone in the room didn't have a cord to call the front desk with a problem. The cord was missing. The tv screen was really dirty. The sink in the bathroom was stuck in the closed position and would not lift with the lever so my husband had to use a pocket knife to pry it up to drain water. The shower door had a plastic piece that needed repair so water didn't leak when taking a shower. It leaked. There was hair still on the shower floor. When the front desk woman came to fix the tv remote she said she would give us a discount. That never happened. I've never stayed at a Hampton Inn that had any problems like these. Bed was comfortable. Room was a little small but that was ok. Didn't try the breakfast. If passing through town again we'd probably stay somewhere else hoping for a better maintained room.

Great place to stop on a long drive across west Texas. Was a little apprehensive about stopping in Van Horn because I thought of it as “the middle of nowhere.” The hotel was right off the exit, check in was simple and Nicole who was working the desk was pleasant and friendly. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the parking area is well illuminated. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. It appears that the hotel is new or newer and the AC in the room was a welcoming ice cold. Got a text from staff member Nicole to make sure my room was good. Check out was quick and easy and the continental breakfast was also great. I’ll likely stay there on my drive back to San Diego

Very clean rooms. Staff all very nice. Only issue, the room telephone never worked. This was reported to three people, nothing resolved. Breakfast was good, thank you

Upon arrival the room that was given to us was dirty and had not ben serviced. The reservation was made ahead of schedule and there was no reason for this inconvenience.

The room was not clean. Either housekeeper didn’t clean or someone used the room after it was cleaned. The sheets didn’t look fresh. Toilet had been used. Hair on bathroom vanity and facecloth missing

Unique: about 10 Tesla electric car charging stations that are free. The place was packed. Nice room but small. It was well laid out. Nice, large enclosed shower. Enjoyed the free breakfast.

Rooms are small, but comfortable. We just spent a night while traveling, so it was comfortable. Would not recommend for a longer stay in the area. .

Room is new and clean but a little bit small, no Microwave and need more chair, at least 2 chairs per room. Breakfast is good.

Seems to be very new. Liked the walk in shower, rather than the traditional tub/shower combination. Our room was small, but well equipped with fridge, microwave, TV. And it was quiet, even though we are close to I-10.

Wifi kept going in and out. Television kept losing reception. We were on 2nd floor and elevator was broken.

Very small, almost cramped room; heater couldn’t keep up with very cold (20 /- degrees) night…set at 70 degrees, ran constantly and got up to 69. Breakfast limited. WAY more expensive than what it was worth.

When we got there the entire town had no power. Needless to say we had no aircon. The staff was amazing! Checked on us, made sure we had water and made us as comfortable as was possible. Other than the power issue stay was great. Again, the staff was amazing.

Nicole the front desk agent was WONDERFUL. I was worried about not being able to see my car and trailer and she found me a room with a great view of them. I feel safe, secure and cared for.. usually i just check in and check out with no adoo..... but she made it special and let me ask all kinds of 'stupid' tired traveler questions, all with a warm smile and let's DO IT attitude, they are lucky to have her here. I travel a lot with my job and am a Best Western Diamond member, I think I will have to make Hampton Inn one of my favorite stops instead. Lucky accident for me after a bad experience at another local hotel who wouldn't let me park my car with trailer in their lot. The room is delightful, great soap and shampoos, coffee maker, fridge, microwave and even earplugs in case of noise and a nice layout with comfortable chairs as well as a semi firm/soft queen bed and awesome water pressure in room 102..... I will definitely stay here again.

When we arrived the power for the town was out.. Savannah the afternoon manager was cool,calm and collected . She did not get upset even though several of other guests did. She went above and beyond with her ability to keep things running smoothly even though things were not fun for anyone in the heat of the summer and no AC or electricity.. she deserves the recognition of being An amazing manager please forward this review to her manager!

Staff was unfriendly, uninformed about service, did not do ANYTHING to ensure I was comfortable. Room TV did not work and they couldn’t fix it or move my room. Staff did not inform me of “hidden” charges at check-in. Refused to provide receipt at check-out. I will NEVER stay there again!

Courteous staff.

The room was very clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast was delicious and the staff attending to cooking and plate running were fast and efficient. Only complaint is that it would have been nice to have the common courtesy that it is normal for the rooms to go without water and plumbing for a few hours. We were in the shower and the water turned off and didnt return for three hours. We mentioned this to the woman at the front desk and she laughed and said, "oh that happens here, you never know when we will have water."

Had to wait a while for sone to come to front desk to check us in. Needs to be better food areas around.

Our stay at this Hampton Inn was very comfortable. The rooms were very clean and accommodating. What’s more, the Manager, David was so courteous and professional. For this reason, we will come back. Thank you for everything!

The staff were awesome and the room was right on time.. The breakfast hit the spot right before we got back on the road!

Very pleasant stay! Room was nice, roomy and comfortable. Most definitely will stay at this location again! Nothing within walking distance but everything is a short drive away. Its a very small town so a few sit down restaurant and several fast food type options.

Typical hotel off the highway in the middle of nowhere. Just stop/eat dinner/ sleep and leave.

Close to I-10. Quick easy check in. Clean & comfortable.

Staff are friendly and upbeat, as well as efficient. Building showing its age, but the room, halls and lobby were clean and comfortable. Appreciated the extra towels, pillows and blanket in the room on arrival. Breakfast was adequate, but limited vs some other Hampton Inns. Would stay there again.

Very good continental breakfast. Nice selection of hot and cold breakfast items with pastries. Fully stocked with friendly kitchen staff.
