TownePlace Suites by Marriott Albany Downtown/Medical Center

My room was fab, everything I needed. Reception staff were really friendly and helpful. Pool and whirlpool area were a bit tired but functional. Breakfast was simple but enough for me. Would definitely stay again.

The ladies are very nice. But I have to say that the pool which why we chose that hotel had so much chlorine, Clorox or however they call it, that our bathing suits were damaged. Our eyes were burning when we at the pool and the hot tub.

Missed that they had Paid parking

Room was spacious, clean and bed was comfortable. Pull out sofa was perfect for our toddler or small adult only. Pool was nice but hot tub was out of order. Breakfast was nice.. get there early though it gets crowded. Room was very quiet and ac was cold and comfortable. Parking is $10 a day so be prepared for that

Was charged for parking but did not have a car - looking at a $70 charge for other things that have no idea what was for

The room had broken furniture. The pull out mattress did not have linens. When we pulled it out there was some ungodly stain. The elevator and hot tub were broken. No towels ever at the pool. Trash left outside rooms all day and trash piled in laundry room for over 24 hours. Clearly understaffed.

Great value! Staff is excellent. My only complaint would be the gates for the parking lot. They never seem to work properly and fail for a variety of reasons.

There were double beds on the site for the suite, but they did not have them. The breakfast wasn’t great. The pool was broken and a part of the floor was sticking up in our room.

It was not well cleaned. There was dirt in the corners of the bathroom. I was charged $10.00 for parking in an unsecured lot. I was not informed of this charge until I received a bill

Notifying us that pool and hot tub were closed would’ve been helpful. That’s why we chose the hotel in the first place.

The hotel was clean, staff was friendly, and they had lots of amenities. Parking felt relatively secure and it wasn't too loud during my stay. I could sometimes hear noisy people outside of the hotel because of the area it's in, but this wasn't disturbing enough to bother me in any real way. I would happily stay again.

Most of the days we experienced weed smell in and around the hotel late in the night. Sometime the parking entrance gate remain open for longer period. BF items are very limited and not enough supply. Dish washer was just loaded and not clean when we checked in.

Found bugs and dish wash broken

The front desk staff were all very nice and helpful, but the cleaning crew is missing details. The couch had a sticky arm rest, there was blood on a window curtain, the corners of the bathroom looked dirty and the silverware in the drawer was used and not cleaned. The bathroom also smelled of pot, and there was not a fan to try to air the room. The room itself was a good layout, and the bed & pillows were comfortable. The hotel probably needs to do a deep clean on some spaces. I was also surprised that it was $10/night to park.

Staff were very nice. It was confusing as to how to get to the front desk. I actually had to back into traffic to go around to the back of the hotel to check in. Another patron started screaming at me because I couldn't back out fast enough. After the bed bug check, I didnt find bugs but there were food crumbs in the crevices of the mattress. There were also food crumbs along the baseboard. There was hair on the wall in the bathroom. It looked like the bathroom had been recently painted. They left dirt and hair on the baseboards and just painted over it. Probably the worst was the plug in air fresheners all over the room and in the hallway. Presumably to cover up the marijuana smell. Its clearly not a smoke free hotel. There was a cigarette (or something) burn on the tissue box and on the floor of the bathroom. The bathroom mirror had mold behind it visible from the front. The door had a large gap underneath (not up to fire code I would imagine). The furniture was stained and disgusting. There was clearly a cat that had stayed because the corner of the couch was shredded and there was cat hair on the floor. The room was obviously not vacuumed. There are a lot of hotels in the area. Pick a different one.

The staff were helpful and friendly, the common areas were clean and well maintained, the room was spacious however needs to be kept up better. There were water stains on the ceiling, the floor was lifting, bugs in the bathroom, bathroom light fixture was rusted, water pressure was terrible, had to flush the toilet multiple times just for toilet paper to go down, the pull out couch was uncomfortable. Definitely not what I would expect from a Marriott

The staff was excellent and loved the suites only thing I didn’t like was there was a very strong odor of someone smoking weed on our floor told staff and issue was addressed but checked out a day early due to the next day the smell was back

Cat urine smell in our sweet must have had a cat there before use, smelled like It was steamed clean but the odor was still in the room,

Unbelievably dirty, terrible smelling room. Floors so dirty shoes stuck to it. It was horrible, will never be returning.

The property was fine. The phone did not work. I told the front desk every day (5 in all) No fix!! It probably still doesn't work.

The rooms need some upgrades. The sink was leaking, no bedding for the fold out sofa and the bathroom had chipped paint on the walls and baseboards. Also, the pillows were very uncomfortable. We would have expected better for the extreme cost of the rooms per night.

My stay was very pleasant. All amenities required were provided. My Sabbath Observance was also accomodated without much bother. There was a problem with the air conditioner in the bedroom. Once turned on, it wouldn't turn off, and the one time that it did turn off, it it came right back on. When I called about that the second night, I was given another suite to sleep in for the night.

There was no hot water

Possibly the worst Marriott property I've stayed in. The first room smelled so bad we had to change, and the second smelled of Smoke eater spray. The next morning the water was out, so showers, breakfast, etc were impossible. If had known the Albany area better I would have chosen a different property.

The room was great. Large, helpful and comfortable furniture. It had a good sized fridge and freezer area with a storage box for the ice collected from the ice machine.

The staff there was very nice and friendly but they were over worked. Not enough staff to have rooms ready as guest arrived Evan those arriving at 7 pm had to wait. Breakfast only had one person trying to prepare and serve entire breakfast crowd several people left without breakfast. Rooms and property were nice . I felt sorry for staff that was there. Poor management.

Everything was amazing and the staff was very friendly

We were in Albany to support family that was using the nearby medical center. TownePlace was pet friendly and convenient. The staff was unusually helpful.

Front desk was friendly and very helpful. Checkin was one of the smoothest I’ve had. I was well informed about amenities. The house keeping staff was switching shift. And still noticed off duty employees helping customers. With gated parking helps the feeling of safety. Would definitely book again.

Check in was easy and quick. Every staff person during our stay was very friendly and helpful and showed a real interest and concern about our comfort and satisfaction. Will definitely recommend this place if you are in this area! Their staff are wonderful!

Ladies at the reception were not friendly and somewhat rude..no umbrellas to lend on a rainy day

I gave "excellent" rating mostly based on the staff. Every single person we dealt with was helpful and friendly.

We came to Albany for the Shane Gillis show at the mvp arena. The room was past expectations! Best room we have ever stayed in. The very best part was the woman at the desk, Casey, she was so AMAZING! She was the best part of the trip! She was sweet and friendly and so informative! Definitely can’t wait to stay again!

They dont treat their customers well. All of them are rude and liars. They dont care about their customers.

It is not easy getting into the hotel. When we arrived, someone was parked right in the road leading to the check in area. Thankfully my car was small enough to maneuver through. The breakfast area was small. It needed another waffle maker. There was a very strong, mildew smell in the stairwell. We were there for the NCAA tournament, and even though we were a short distance from the arena, I didn't feel comfortable walking in this area.

Convenient to Albany Medical Center

The hotel itself was very clean neat tidy. Staff was very helpful. Continental breakfast was good with a nice selection. I did check in later at night and it seemed as if the area around the hotel had declined in the last few years I would not feel comfortable going for a walk around the property.

I stay at this hotel because it is close to a medical center I need to go to once a week.

The hotel is located on one of the primary roads to Albany Medical Center. Ambulances use this route. Although McDonald's and Walgreen's are within walking distance, the closest restaurant is about 400m away. Also, the adjacent neighborhood is a lower income neighborhood.

The area was outside the city center and while not unsafe seemed a little suspect.

The hotel is near where I have appointments. There are great restaurants nearby in the historic section of Albany. It's convenient and comfortable. I really appreciate the breakfast. Very easy and fast.

Everything about this property was 5 star except the breakfast, which was a bunch of cereal, and scrambled eggs. The pancake machine was broken, and there were no other options

The dining area only had 6 tables for 2 people. It was always crowded. we had to take our breakfast up to our room to eat. Staff was EXCELLENT! Room was not totally cleaned. However, the bathroom was cleaned every other day.

I’ve stayed here several times. The staff is wonderful. And I have always appreciated the included breakfast, it compares well to other hotels I’ve stayed at. However, on this stay it was severely lacking. I can not eat eggs, so I usually partake in the oatmeal, yogurt, and/or fruit. On this visit, there were none of those. Waffle batter and iron were also not available. I was left to choose some Cheerios and bacon (I also cannot eat white bread or plain bagels). And then had to buy breakfast elsewhere. With that said, the bacon was cooked just right and delicious!

This company could learn from Iceland's KeaHotel chain. Their breakfast buffet put TownSuites to shame. Our room, while conveniently located close to our son, had dirty floors and the bare minimal of luxury and conveniences. Their limited and sad buffet in the morning was not worth eating so I only had yogurt for 3 days. The one redeeming quality of this site was the staff. Friendly greetings and buffet servers hustled on our behalf. But I wouldn't recommend this place otherwise.

Breakfast was nice and the rooms were semi clean.

Hotel was great, large and clean rooms, excellent staff. Only complaint is the breakfast area is too small for that size of hotel & amount of guests. Plus some of the guests were practically raiding the breakfast buffet. They were making 4-5 plates to take upstairs. The poor hotel worker was trying to restock food & they would just snatch it out of her hands. They were shoving other guests to grab food, reaching around you to snatch it up before you could and kids spilling food in the hallway cause they were trying to carry so much back to the elevator. Staff handled it as well as they could. I dont know how they put up with it every day if its always like that at their breakfast buffet.

Got a lovely room. Got to make use of the pool, which was great. Actually the pool was busy both times we went, it was clearly a popular feature of the hotel. Breakfast was good. Lots to eat and good variety. The young man working in the breakfast area was great and kept the place clean and made sure everything was refilled. The staff was very friendly. Two suggestions for the owners. 1. On check in the staff was efficient and friendly but I had to ask about breakfast, and the pool and internet. A sheet with all the need to know info would have been helpful. 2. I am not sure why you are charging extra for parking. Just include it in the price. Having said that, the hotel was good value.

Stayed for 3 nights . Day1 ok, day2 and 3 only Cold continental breakfast. Nothing in breakfast area was replenished even coffee at 8am. All Marriott hotel that we’ve stayed in different locations that week have real breakfast served. Should not include continental breakfast included if they will just serve “cold continental breakfast only today” not expecting a lot from the place but got disappointed.

Large room with bedroom, seating area and kitchen. Stains on the bedside table from previous cups/glasses. Disappointing breakfast.
