Steps to Shore: Seaside Olympia Retreat w/ Hot Tub

I am always skeptical of really poor reviews online. I feel that someone had an axe to grind for some reason. This is not the case for this review. My hope is that the owner of the property will realize that there is more to preparing a house to be a vacation rental than just clearing out the closets and having someone dust and vacuum. As soon as we opened the door the odor was very strong. We walked through the house and found a dirty wash cloth hanging in the second bath with multiple bottles of opened shampoos and such. The master bath had hair on the bar of soap. We then went to the kitchen. The coffee pot had a used filter and the pot was dirty, dirty butter dish on the counter, dirty sponges and no dish soap, crumbs in the drawers where plates, silverware and utensils were stored. The refrigerator shelves were dirty, the bottom of the oven had a puddle of something that had spilled over, pots and pans were sticky from grease. We went out and opened the hot tub lid, the smell of mildew was overwhelming. The outdoor furniture was filthy. We called the host about the condition and he came in the morning to wipe things down. He said he tested the water in the hot tub and it was fine. He said the odor in the house was just it being old. We asked about the canoes and never really got an answer as to where they were. I spent several hours cleaning dishes, cups, utensils and pans just so we could use them - after we purchased dish soap. I gave this 2 stars for the view.
