The Gatsby Hotel

The hotel is on Houston, so it's extremely loud, no fault to the hotel itself, but there is almost no insulation on the walls or windows so you really feel like you're sleeping on a fire escape, it's so dang loud. The interior doors to the rooms are almost as loud as the street outside, this is 100% at fault of the hotel, anyone on your floor leaves their room, you know it because it wakes you up. The price was why we chose this hotel, the location is almost ideal, but the noise is why we'll never go back. If they fix the doors and windows noise, we'd go back in a heartbeat.

The location is convenient, with an F-Train stop right outside the door. The room was clean, however the TV did not work, which was not a very big deal, but there was absolutely no hot water. This was by 10:30am, way after peak demand time. I mentioned this to the front counter staff who mentioned there was no manager on duty. Before writing this review I sent a message to the hotel stating my experience and giving them a chance to respond. There was no reply, no concern for my issues. Unfortunate, this could be a viable option in the future, but not with this service. I will not be staying here again.

Hotel was centrally located and in a great area! Wish there was ice and free bottled water.

Staff did not enforce quiet hours and the doors throughout the building do not have the hydraulic arms that prevent doors from slamming. Fire alarm is also faulty, causing it to sound off in the middle of the night despite no threat to safety.

They saved my butt because the hotel where I stayed would not store my luggage after 11 AM checkout. This was a disaster because my flight left out of Laguardia at 8:45 pm. I needed a place to store my luggage until about 6:30 pm. I found the Gatsby and I rented a room for just 1 day so that I wouldn't have to haul 2 rolling suitcases all around NYC until the car came to pick me up for the airport. The room was clean. Bed was a little low. No refrigerator or safe. No conditioner in the shower. Just shampoo and body wash. Reasonable price for 1 night stay. They actually hold your luggage for you. They have a storage closet. That's a win.
