Welcoming and friendly staff ,clean room similar to prem inn in design. Breakfast at £11.00 is not really worth it . The primary care centre near by does a full English for £6.00 far beter. Bar food though is good and if you want a bit of class trir Thai restaurant is excellent.

Premier inn standard, better prices. There was a Thai restaurant attached to the hotel or you could eat in the bar which served some Thai dishes and some classic pub grub. We were very satisfied with the quality of the food.

Great place to stay, friendly staff, nice rooms with comfortable beds, and a relaxing bar, had a meal from the Thai restaurant and it was amazing. Only a very minor thing but the shower could do with a shelf to rest toiletries on when using and water pressure was low although shower was nice and hot.May have been because I was in end room.

Very nice hotel. Room was bigger than I expected and in very good clean condition. Although on my own, I paid a tiny bit more for the double bed which was a really good size and well worth it. I also reserved a table at the on premise Thai Restaurant. Great food, freshly cooked and nice smiley service from all staff, meant it was a good experience. The hotel bar is very good too. Has a pub vibe about it with TV showing sports etc. Plenty of free parking with no issues at all. Highly recommended for a cost effective stay.

No fridge in the room though which was a shame when staying for more than a night or two. Appreciated the free WiFi and decent TV. The downside was the lack of information about room cleaning times over the Christmas period. We stayed for 5 nights/6 days and only got our room cleaned (and bins emptied) twice as we kept “missing” the cleaning window, despite it saying it was between 10am-2pm and we were out the room by 12pm at the latest every day. One day we left the room at 9am specifically to get the room cleaned and returned at 12pm, and in typical fashion they hadn’t reached our room yet on this occasion. Walls were very thin too, we could hear everything in the room next door especially in their bathroom. Woken up at 12am-2am one morning when they decided to have a bath. Woken at 4am one morning by constant banging (woke up the whole floor - we did report this to reception). But staff were keen to help and the bar was absolutely fantastic. We loved having a drink or two in the bar each night and felt we could have been a million miles away. Overall, it did the job and gave us a place to stay over the festive period when visiting family, but further information about holiday cleaning service times would have been appreciated.

Really nice place, food was amazing. Staff friendly. Room ok. Needs a new bed. Not as clean in the bathroom as I would have expected. Stains on the mirror. In saying all that I would stay there again.

Good sized room with good lighting - nice to have actual ceiling lighting in a hotel room! Room very clean. I think has been recently refurbished? Staff very friendly and welcoming at breakfast.

They haven't clean the room well. We found some used under garments of guest stayed previously on the floor. The windows are not sound proof, so the night was horrible.

In close distance to Durham. Nice Pub and Thai Restaurant on Site. Friendly staff. Let down by bad odour in the guest part and in the room. Next to a busy road means you can’t sleep with the windows open. Very bouncy mattress and uncomfortable pillows.

Very clean, lots of hot water & value for money. Some kind of hook needed in bathroom for clothes or dressing gown. Noisy at front of hotel that overlooks a busy A road when windows are open at night. Quiet once windows were closed.

Lovely attentive staff, bar and restaurant busy but atmospheric which was lovely, food good. Hotel room ok, so hot couldn't sleep had to turn Radiators down and open the window, but then we heard the noise of the traffic unfortunately both my husband and I hardly slept! 6 am someone was emptying bottles into the recycling bins which woke us up yet again, never managed to get off again.

Having the bar and Thai Restaurant in the same facility was convenient. Bathtub shower was difficult to get into (for seniors) as it was older style high sided tub.

Nice hotel for what I paid - some of the decor is dated and could do with a freshen up. Staff were very friendly. Next to the main road though so if you have the window open on a hot day you will hear the traffic noise through the night

Used Highfield many times. Always reliable with super staff. Room was big and warm with giant comfy bed. Just be aware that road noise from the A690 is constant unless you’re in the odd-numbered rooms, as they are at the back of the hotel and are super quiet.

Despite being a modern building the were things like uneven floors ( right by a fire door ), also when I checked in was wasked about breakfast and asked if we could decide in the morning, and was told that would be OK. Following morning was told it was not possilbe, in quite frankly an abrupt and not customer friendly manner.
