Fantastic resort hotel in a lovely area - lots of choices of restaurants both in and just outside of the resort. Nice pool area - only negative was the charge for sunbeds and umbrellas on the Hotels private beach area for Hotel guests . This does not seem right in charging Hotel guests and not something i had come across before.

Amazing 4 day stay…loved everything about this hotel. Restaurants were great, surrounding area restaurants were also great. What we didn’t like was you had to spend $175. to sit by the fire pits at the outdoor bar. For 4 people it’s doable but for 2? Insane!! Total rip off & unfair if you are staying on the property. Out of about 8 fire pits only 1 was being used…this was at 9 pm…so instead of making some $$ they chose to price gauge & not make any $$…sounds like poor business management

The view rooms supposed to be beachfront but very noisy and could hear bulldozers for several hrs on 2 days i was there. Not relaxing at all. Self parking they charge $55/night...ridiculous.

I travelled with my family. It was the perfect location for young kids as it has direct access to the beach. Everything is charged additionally though, the description said beach umbrella and chairs but we had to pay extra for it. The pool is ok, could be bigger for the size of the hotel though. There is a market to get quick bites, drinks and breakfast which is perfect for families

The Del Coronado was great. We stayed there more for the history than anything. The main part of the hotel just reopened after a remodel. The rooms are nice and have been kept correct to the time period. Our room was comfortable and suited us for the trip. It will however be our only stay at The Del. Everything is crazy expensive there. Overnight self parking is $59 per nite on top of the $450 per night room charge. A 20oz bottle of Coke was 8 bucks. I get it, it’s the well to do part of San Diego, but they could do their patrons better than they do for the prices you have to pay for things. $450 per night should really equal free overnight parking. Just one man’s opinion

The gym was under construction, no room service and most restaurants close fairly early, parking was ridiculously expensive ($80 per night), and the amenities charge of $55 per night when the amenities are pretty limited seems excessive. Charging $255 per hour for a few beach chairs for the firepits (but you do get smores) seems ridiculous and quite frankly insulting given the $55 a night amenities charge

Very nice property with wonderful public spaces (including pools, lawns, beach, etc). Room was spacious with private patio but wasn't very clean and the layout was not as described when booking, which was unfortunate when we were looking for a specific layout when traveling with small children. Overall, a fine experience but not amazing.

Location is amazing, as beach access is right outside your door. Most people know they will be spending an arm and a leg to stay here, but little things are also a joke. $9 for a bottle water seems a bit high. Be prepared to spend 3-4 months of your house mortgage for a 4-5 day stay. Bedrooms were not as clean as the price tags, loose hair in the sheets from previous stay, had to call 4 times to get room service the first day.

The hotel overall is stunning. The history of the hotel is everpresent everywhere you look. However, getting into our room, was very small considering the type of hotel. The bathroom was smaller than a half bath, though it had all the pieces. Lastly, there were ants in our room. When called to the front desk to address this, there were no steps or follow-up of any kind on the matter by the staff. For as beautiful and historic as this hotel is, I could handle all the ghost stories, but I can't handle ANT's in my $600 a night room.

Many attempts were made to call housekeeping, room service, and the front desk without an answer. There was dried blood on the wall in the bathroom, luckily I ran into housekeeping in the hallway and somebody did go clean that area. Finally, when I was able to reach the front desk, I asked for extra towels and a toothbrush, I was reassured that they would be delivered and they never were. The facility itself is under a lot of construction/renovation and I was not made aware of that issue at the time of booking. The beach was not swimmable due to a high bacteria count from sewage. Needless to say, I was very disappointed in the service, cleanliness, and lack of communication regarding the hotel conditions especially considering the price and the fact that I had two rooms.

One negative about our room. We had a veranda room and the porch area was NOT clean. There was a used towel there, partially filled cups on a table and quite a bit of debris on the deck. Believe this area was missed by housekeeping. Otherwise room was very nice and the property lovely.

We had a beautiful deck with a straight on view of the pacific. I used the gym which is large for a hotel. The staff was amazing. We will be back as Coronado is a pretty unique place and the Del is legendary.

Stay was wonderful, we always wanted to try this historic hotel and beach. Excellent staff and comfortable rooms. But disappointed we paid for ocean view room but got a partial ocean view instead… with the towering condos.

Fantastic visit and experience. Staff at all levels were outstanding. My only disappointment was in our ‘Ocean View’ room, which while very expensive, offered a ‘peekaboo’ view of the actual ocean itself, if that, while the main veranda, located on side of room, overlooked right over all the A/C vents and bird poop covered roof.

The Del is a great hotel, but room 6524 had the worst bed we have had in over 30 years of travel. No hyperbole. It was awful!!

We upgraded to an ocean view room which was a lot more expensive but so worth the view. The room was spacious, modern and very comfortable. The resort is quite busy and be prepared to pay more for anything with a view. A beautiful hotel in a great location. As an older couple we found it difficult to find a quiet less busy spot and just have a drink enjoying the ocean view Staff were always friendly and helpful. There is currently lots of work gouon but this did not affect our stay.

We had an oceanfront cabana with a fire pit and it was incredible. By far the best vacation experience I’ve ever had. We always love the Del because the staff is so friendly and the property is so gorgeous, but this room just was an exceptional experience. Would highly recommend

The main Victorian building has been set to be renovated so they have deferred a LOT of maintenance. It's run down, crumbling, and not worth what they charge for it. Best to stay in The Views or another building and then look at the main building. We asked to be moved and our request was honored.

Hotel del is probably the best hotel I stayed at. The only problem I ran into is if you have your luggage stored with them before checking in, they take forever to deliver…or not at all. I told staff that i spoke to 3 different people and none of them had told the delivery guys to bring my luggage up to my room. After almost 2 hrs i went and got it myself. I told their “text” staff what happened and they gave me 75$ credit to my room. Over all the location, space, atmosphere is clean and friendly. I loved the food at the bbq smokehouse that used to be a laundry building.

I'm going to write a real story about this hotel from now on. It's a story about why this hotel doesn't want to give a single star. I checked in at 4:00 PM. However, they said the room was not ready and asked to wait for the text to be given right away. And the receptionist said the room was still not ready and asked me to come in 25 minutes. She spoke so unkindly that I waited 25 minutes and then went back to the reception to talk The text hasn't come yet, and when I asked if 4 o'clock was a check-in, they were rather angry and told me that there was no check-in guarantee at 4 o'clock. I was assigned a room after waiting for an hour and 10 minutes, and the moment I entered the room, I sighed. The weather was so hot, but the air conditioner in the room didn't work properly. So my wife and I went to the bar to escape the heat. It was the attitude of the staff that really upset me. No one laughs at this hotel. Check it out. There are no real laughing employees. And make sure you know. I check in at 4 o'clock, but This hotel can't guarantee it l. Check-in is at 4 o'clock, but I entered at 5:10PM

Hotel Del is a true American Gem! Its history and amenities are unmatched by nearly all other key resorts in the US...and it is so amazingly beautiful. I cannot wait for a return trip to The Del! From the moment I arrived on the property, I was treated with the best service. The bed was like a cloud, the food and drinks were amazing, and you can’t beat walking right out to the beach!

We had a great time and I'm glad that we took the opportunity to stay at this property. I'm not a multi-millionaire, but can easily afford this. I didn't like the fact that valet/parking costs were so high (after paying $2k for a 3-night stay). In addition, our room was not ready at check-in time. I thought the staff was okay, they were reasonably friendly, but not exceptionally so (although the room cleaning lady was very friendly). Furthermore, the dining was far overpriced for the quality and amount of the food. There was not a microwave in the room for heating up leftovers. I enjoyed my stay, but will not go back.

This was a disappointing stay. We splurged on a night at the Del as a birthday treat and had some of the worst service I've ever experienced. The property itself was under construction, which wasn't clear during booking. I had to park way on the other side of the property and walk outside of the area around to the front entrance, with all of my stuff (luckily not much for one night for our fam, but had all our beach stuff too). We also reserved a fire pit for some smores by the beach. That was a fun experience with good service, but ahead of time, we were just trying to figure out the logistics and couldn't get a clear answer from anyone. We didn't know where people could park - one of our guests has trouble walking so we wanted to know the best route to get there. They just kept saying "yeah they can go to the beach with you". I tried reiterating my question 3 times, and it was like I was speaking a different language. Check in was delayed, so I didn't even get a room key until after 4:30pm. We found out the beach had a hazard. Not the hotel's fault, but it would have been nice to know that when we booked, or when we checked in, or when we mentioned we would be going to the beach... we found out that the staff knew, but they didn't give us any warning. So we went to the pool instead - very basic, service was lacking there too. I would have ordered some ridiculously expensive drinks but nobody ever came by. The rooms are well equipped, and tastefully decorated. Service was a bit on the slow side, and I was surprised at the mediocrity of the food options in all of the on site Restaurants we tried.

A beautiful overnight getaway! But…. Having the military running there jets and helicopters all day and through the evening was very disturbing. So loud.. you could hardly continue conversation when there was a fly by. It was cool at first but after the 3rd hour.. not so much. Not sure there’s much you can do about that, but just… heads up!!

LOCATION! I cant express enough what an amazing area. We appreciate the history this hotel has to offer for California. We also love the main strip vibe. More than enough to do for the entire family. Our resort was excellent. Great staff and environment. We are definitely returning for a non business stay.

Over rated! The hotel is classic old Victorian! I can understand it for conferences and meetings but definitely not suitable for family or romantic vacation ! The noises from airplanes flying over your head all day and high bean military exercises lights shined on our room from the ocean all night! We stayed at the ocean front room which is upper end price but was not worse it! Food and drinks served was not bad but nothing special! Front desk staff were robotic and none accommodating ! We were disappointed in the whole experience and left day early ! Safe time and money and stop by and valet parking your car for $100 / day and visit the Victoria Buidling if this your thing ! There are varieties of places and experiences in San Diego to enjoy as family or couple better than this hotel! I hope this help someone out there and safe them the unnecessary waist!

Beautiful historic facility ! Extra daily charges to be aware of.. resort fee , historical fee, and $75/day valet park. $7 cup of coffee/self serve. Our room was beautiful and staff were always helpful and friendly. Would be nice to keep the hot tub open later for just adults to enjoy. Definitely recommend .. lots of interesting history to learn while there!

The property itself is very nice/historical. It has a few areas”neighborhoods “ to the area so you do need to look at the map to see where you want to go to. Its views are spectacular. Pools are on the smaller side and you are only allowed to use the pool that is closest to where you are staying at. Our room in the “views area was nice nothing amazing but our view was nice since we got an upper floor (6). The shower situation was not great, we had to use a few towels to soak up the water that would flow from the shower. We made a reservation at one of the restaurants. We were seated pretty fast but then we waited over an hour for our food to arrive! Our waiter came by twice in the 2 hours that we were there. Apparently we were not the only guests that were complaining, the couple next to us were waiting over 40 minutes for there desert but never came, the man had to get up and go find the waiter to bring his check. We spent close to $300 on a family of 4 on dinner that we ended packing up since we weren’t hungry anymore. What upset me was that the restaurant kept calling us on my phone after we left, I left a tip but not enough. Overall, I honestly don’t think I would stay here again. $700 for a night, $300 for dinner, $100 for 3 drinks.

West coast meets east coast elegance exemplified in this hotel. Expect to be treated well and enjoy a fun filled resort stay. There is a lot of great things to say and the restaurants are amazing. Main pool is crowded and busy. My main negative is the beach rentals. As a resort, that should be included and not as extra. Other than that, we really felt on vacation separate from main land and enjoyed the entire experience. Nobu and Serea both had amazing food and service. Definitely recommend. Sun deck is always a favorite. Menu is limited but very good. Bar drinks were my favorite.

A lot of construction that was not communicated to us when we checked in. Upscale restaurants onsite were terrible while the Grocery ENO's and Taco Shack provided quality food. All shops were overpriced and not inline with shops in town. Room was great but room maid service was slow. Hotel and Beach are beautiful and worth the outrageous prices.

We have stayed at The Del many times and usually it is above average. We visited Friday through Sunday for a quick weekend. Coronado was very busy in general. We tried to get a drink before dinner at the Babcock and Story bar. We sat at a table for 15-20 minutes, no server so we left . I think I saw one person helping every table and they were all full. Need more servers.
