would like to have seen a roof over the area between accommodation and bar / restaurant . weather was bad .

Great value, contemporary rooms, breakfast area is dated but it’s half the price of some near by hotels.

Very nice stay in lovely surroundings with extremely nice staff. The room was perfect, plenty of free parking & a fine bed. Recommended.

The Hotel convenient to get to Celtic Manor with a fair amount of parking. The rooms are a good size and overall cleanish. A fair few cobwebs and a lot of dust but nothing too dire. The shower over the bath has decent pressure. Tea / coffee is provided but with only one sachet of sugar I was glad I brought my own, We ate in the restaurant - the service was slow, especially given it wasn't particularly busy. Outside the views are lovely, the patio area is well maintained and very pretty. All things considered a nice hotel with nice staff.

Lovely barn conversion with clean, modern rooms; and a lovely pub with a good range of food options. Minor issue on check in dealt with brilliantly by the team there and very satisfactorily

Decent room, really good size. Nice and quiet. Rooms separate from reception and bar area. Only stayed one night, comfy bed. Had GF breakfast. Staff great throughout the stay. Bar area very nice. Would stay again.

Breakfast good, service was good, staff were friendly and helpful, main barn area was dated but pleasant enough, room was a good size as was the bathroom, however, the bed was very uncomfortable and the floors were very creaky! Did not sleep well!

It was our second stay here. The staff we had any dealings with were all nice & friendly and helpful same as our last visit. Our room (No.3) was nice, but quite chilly on our arrival, so it wasn’t particularly welcoming. It transpired that the heating was switched off (surprising for the end of October) and it certainly wasn’t obvious how to turn it on. The bathroom towel rail (which I should also mention was unfortunately very rusty in places) was also switched off. That didn’t help. Little things that could have made a big difference to our first impressions. However the worst part was to come. I wanted to have a nice soak in a hot bath just before I went to bed, but the water was completely cold. Not even tepid. Unfortunately it was far too late to do anything about it then, so I waited until the morning …. but worse still, it was still stone cold then. So we had both had to make do with a cold body wash. Not good especially for a hotel. The bed was comfortable though! One last complaint ….. there were loads of long dark hairs left in the bath from previous occupants. Ugh. I mentioned all this to the nice lady when I checked out. She said she’d tell the manager when he arrived, so I’d hoped that by now, I would have had an apology from him with perhaps some sort of goodwill gesture for our disappointment and inconvenience. But as yet …. nothing. I do want to end on a positive note though, so I should just mention the cooked breakfast was really excellent!

Comfortable good size rooms and nice clean bathroom, breakfast and evening meal absolutely lovely, and the staff where brilliant

The rooms were very clean and maintained daily. The breakfast was very good and the surroundings within the restaurant was very much to our liking. I would recommend anyone to take a few days there.

Very clean and comfortable room with large bath tub for a relaxing bath with adequate in-room supplies. Very friendly staff who went out of their way to make sure i had all i needed. Very well cooked full breakfast, only downside is it was non-buffet style so i wasn't sure if i could ask for a second egg, but i wouldn't say deal breaker, there was always something else like fruit or yoghurt. Great stay overall.

We had a fabulous stay for our wedding anniversary. Lovely room, excellent jacuzzi bath, very clean and very comfortable. We have stayed 5 times over the last few years and the food and service was superb as always.

The service was great but the room was a bit worn, in particular the bathroom, with lightbulbs not working and many cracked floor tiles. Also, the heater wasn’t powerful enough to keep the room warm as it was particularly cold and on request, an additional heater was provided.

Super friendly and accommodating staff, excellent portioned, tasty Sunday food. Just felt our really spacious suite was bit tired, needed new carpet and the bathroom refitted. We did enjoy our overnight stay as it was very quiet and comfortable.

Room was very good, clean, spacious and very airy, bed very comfortable. Nice touch of complimentary bottled water in room each day. Breakfast was very good lots of choice and provided very quickly. Idealy placed for access to South Wales.

The property was perfectly located for my time in Newport . The restaurant was busy and obviously popular but I had no problems getting a table as a resident . The food was very good as was the service . My only issue was the noise from people moving in the room above my room . Common problem with older properties.

I often stay at the Old Barn. Always very friendly and clean. Breakfast is great. Good value for money. Unfortunately the occupants of the room upstairs were very noisy and kept me awake on this occasion

We were late to arrive (the desk closed at 22:30 and we had traffic issues). The Hotel kindly called me twice to ask how things were and then to say they had checked me in and they would leave the key under the mat so that I could get to my room. Breakfast was very good and the staff were really great. The room itself was cold when we arrived, the room was large and the radiator was small... I do appreciate we arrived late (something I had put in the notes when booking) but the room radiator was set to 14 when we entered the room. We also noticed way too late that the radiator in the bathroom was turned off. Appreciate they might not want to turn the heating on in the room if nobody is there, appreciate that we were late to arrive, but maybe leave some extra bedding in the room. My Mum, who was travelling with me, went to bed in her jumper and put her coat over the cover on the bed. Secondly the hotel is in a quiet location but this also means sound does travel. The person in the room above us was pacing around their room until 02:00, we could hear every step. We could also hear the person coughing next door, I don't believe the person was coughing loudly, just an average cough. A really nice hotel, but I do think that the rooms need more sound absorbing type things in them... for example bigger curtains so they cover the windows better, provide a bit more insulation and also help absorb sound.

Perfect for a one night stop over. Few stray hairs found in the bathroom upon arrival. The people above us were stomping around and we could also hear someone else’s TV so rooms aren’t very sound proof at all. Also could’ve done with a few more pillows as the ones provided were very flat. Otherwise breakfast was great and we ate dinner in the pub which was also good. Would recommend.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, food was lovely and bed comfortable. We’re used to thinner pillows, a bit thick for us but staff didn’t know that. The toilet seat wouldn’t stay up so will mention that to staff but we were only here for one night. We would recommend and definitely stay again.

We just wanted a convenient hotel for our visit and it was so much more. The staff were all so accommodating and polite under extreme pressure and you could see they all worked as a team. Our evening meal was quickly served and was lovely as well as reasonably priced. Our room was spacious and the bed comfortable. We would certainly come again. N

The room was huge, had a fabulous bathtub and a lovely outlook, the food was great, the atmosphere was welcoming but the best thing was the people - the staff went out of their way to help me with all of my questions and requests and were just fantastic - it will be my place to stay every time I go to Newport from now on

The staff, from Reception to waiting staff were amazing, both professional and courteous at all times. The room was lovely and the walk in shower perfect. We ate a la carte and the portions generous and well made. I can’t fault the stay from start to finish. Highly recommend.

The room was nice had a ceiling fan so if hot would be great. We had a meal in the restaurant which was good but the service was terrible. We also had breakfast that had a good choice but again the service was not good

A good hotel in a quiet location and lovely countryside. All staff were really helpful. Rooms are comfortable. Food is excellent and good value. Mobile phone signal is better on Vodafone than EE for 4G reception.

When I eventually arrived at 9:30pm I was told that the kitchen was closed and there was no food available, this was after a 5 hour drive to get to the hotel. My room was comfortable but as the hotel is very close to the M4 motorway there was a constant noise of traffic all throughout the night even though all windows were closed. Breakfast was served by a friendly lady and service was good.

Quiet location with easy access

Stayed here as an overnight to break up a long journey. Really lovely hotel with a restaurant and bar also serving food. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was lovely, we ate in the bar lounge, and breakfast was cooked fresh and very nice (no snotty or overcooked eggs!). Lovely location just a few minutes from the M4 Magor services, yet very peaceful. Room had lots of space and everything we needed. Our room was actually an accessibility room and had a wet room bathroom. Overall this was a great find and we will stay here instead of the motorway services hotel from now on, the price was about the same as breakfast is included at this hotel.

The Old Barn Inn is a gem of a place to stay. It is in a peaceful setting, with spacious, well-appointed rooms, comfy beds, and great showers with plenty of hot water. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We stayed for 2 nights on an annual golfing trip. The breakfasts and evening meals were of excellent quality and substantial portions. It totally surpassed our expectation and we definitely will be back next year.

Easy to find (if you do need W3W: surfer.tops.owned), good location (I was traveling on to Cardiff in the morning), friendly staff and very clean room (I had No.13) with a spacious room and bathroom. I can't fault The Old Barn Inn, it's a 6 min drive to Celtic Manor to charge my car, room and facilities very good (clean as mentioned) and the Breakfast was just PERFECT! In brief, I am gluten-free (Coeliac) and picky!.. the staff member accommodated my 'almost burnt Bacon' request, and everything was piping hot and so very tasty (bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, toast etc, yum!). It is so hard to find any eatery that understands the gluten-free element correctly – and these guys just do! Should I be in the area again, I shall definitely be booking here again. Thank you, to all at the Barn 😊

Easy to find off the M4 Wales. We enjoyed our stay. Ideal for our visit.

Room was large and beds and pillows very comfortable. We had a nice meal for dinner. Breakfast was included and I had the best scrambled eggs ever. Portions are large and were offered fresh fruit and cereal as well. It was a little cool but in nice weather they have nice outdoor dining and drink area. Very happy with our stay. Friendly staff.

Breakfast, according to the website was 0730 to 1000. We arrived at 0932 and told fried breakfast no longer available. Evening meal not served in a dining room but alongside the bar, quite noisey. Menu the same every night, quite varied but limited depending on your favourites. Desserts very nice but sit in a glass cabinet until all eaten, they were there unfinished the 3 nights we stayed.

This was the most incredible stay - we were only there one night but the staff were incredible, the food was exceptional and the room amazing. I cannot say enough how fab it was!
