Hotel ibis Styles Birmingham NEC and Airport

Nice hotel but I was surprised to discover that parking cost an extra £15. This should be made clearer on the website booking portal. Broadband was free and a good speed - which is a pleasant change in a UK hotel.

Very clean, very pleasant. However…. No airport SHUTTLE and uber was more expensive than phone staff suggested, which added 15 £ to hotel rate. They didn’t mention that there was a free monorail from airport to near hotel.

Needs an airport shuttle and some staff need training in how to assist clients. We asked about an airport shuttle or taxis and were told that she could not help us and we should walk to the train station with our four heavy cases, unimpressed. Other staff were very helpful.

Would have given it 5 stars but trouble with lift next to reception . Seems petty but the button never lit up or seemed to work . So often waiting for lift that never came . Seems a very easy fix and reception were aware .

The bed was so bad dipped one side could hardly move when I got up . No shuttle to airport .

I was attending TF Nation at the Hilton as I have done every year it has been there but this year I got fed up of the Hiltons gouging and decided to give the Ibis a try. I am so glad I did, for starters it was a lot cheaper than the Hilton with a nicer room in a much quieter hotel. It was very clean throughout and the breakfast room was a delight as it was mostly empty both mornings and I walked in and got what I wanted straight away with ease. With the breakfast itself I do have some complaints, the range of options does not compare and the bacon was overdone being chewy rather than crisp. The major downside to staying here for TFN is the twenty minute walk to the Hilton for the event, should you forget something it's then a forty minute round trip and it is nearly always blazing hot when TFN is on. If you can live with that or just want more money in your pocket for the show itself then the Ibis is an excellent option. Also of note, to me at least is that they have a small row of car charging points right outside their front door so if you have an EV this is again a great option for next time.

Very good but just a little bit not happy regarding about parking is hard to fine parking and we been charge £15 a night and every time when we come back we have to look for parking space and we end up parking right ti the end parking and every time we come back we have to drive around the car park atleast 3times driving around and wait for parking.

Great value with good parking, with easy access to the airport - will definitely stay here again

Had to pay £15 to park wasn't told this when booked. Gym out of use. Wasn't told about this when booking/before arrival.

Hotel ok but room was tired, window sill paint peeling, shower controls missing control knobs, carpet stained.

We had an early morning flight so this hotel served a purpose but cleaning of the room needs to be improved (inside of the bathroom door had marks on it and the bathroom smelt a bit unsavoury), the hair dryer didn’t work and the room was near to a busy road so the noise from the traffic all night wasn’t ideal.

This is the second time I’ve used this hotel and I can’t fault it. Modern and inviting, public areas are comfortable and staff couldn’t be more helpful. Very reasonable room rate and a great nights rest in a well presented room. Would use the hotel again without hesitation

Not great. A bit old and shabby. Unfortunately there was no hot water so couldn’t shower or wash my hair. No apology or compensation offered. The phones have been removed from the rooms and number advertised for reception doesn’t connect. I had to google the hotel! Crazy. No apology for coming to my room at midnight trying to sort the hot water which was a hotel-wide issue. Breakfast not great, everything very budget but the cold water was the main dampener.

Bed quilt stained in a number of places. Was changed quickly and efficiently. Television did not work due to poor signal. Service from staff was excellent.

The room had a funny smell to it as soon as I went in. The room was abnormally hot which meant I had to try and have the window open. With this however, it was freezing. I slept so poorly as the bed was not comfortable at all. It was not a great stay at all. I would like a response please. Many thanks Ryan Stevens

Hotel at Birmingham Airport was very convenient, spotlessly clean. Great breakfast. Comfortable bed, whats not to like. Only suprise was internet access around the airport was very poor. Not the hotels fault i appreciate

Room 203 is right next to a very busy highway. At first I thought the window was open, but it was not. The loud highway noise was ongoing all night. I will not recommed this loud location. There was no soap in the dusch, så I took the one from the zink to get sope.

For the money I paid to stay over the weekend (just over £400) I was expecting a better quality of hotel. I have stayed in many budget hotels with more modernisation than this one. Seems like they spent all the money on updating the reception and bar area than the hotel rooms. The weekend I went there was a heatwave. Sign in the reception to say the air-condition wasn't working. I couldn't open the window in my room and had been given a fan. Woke up at 6am one morning having a panic attack caused by the heat. The hotel put me in another room with an open window. No apology from reception or discount as a way of compensation. Also the bed and pillows were hard and the shower could've done with a regrout. Safe to say I won't be staying here again.

Came to stay as had early flight we got no sleep as the room was so hot. Air conditioning was not working. It was so uncomfortable. It made me feel ill it was so hot. Left at 4am went to reception who told is they had new system in and hard to use. I asked for someone to contact me no one has. Ruined my first day of my short work break as soo tirex Bed was hard. Only 1 pillow

overall it was OK for the price. Sofa bed was terrible. Could feel every spring. At least they gave us a spare duvet which we could use as an extra mattress.

I was initially allocated Room 210, but unfortunately, the sink was blocked. After reporting the issue, I was moved twice more before settling in Room 329, which was quieter and away from the road noise. Room 329 was compact and quite small. The TV was mounted at an awkward angle, making it difficult to watch unless lying in bed. There was also a noticeable lack of accessible plug sockets, which made it impossible to use the iron properly as the cable wouldn’t reach the area needed. The kettle had a strong, unpleasant smell of descaler, which made it unusable. On the positive side, the bed was comfortable and the pillows were lovely and fluffy, which helped ensure a decent night’s sleep. Unfortunately, the onsite restaurant was a let-down. The salmon was overcooked and dry, and the jacket potato was clearly microwaved and extremely dry—overall, not a great dining experience. A mixed stay with a few positives, but quite a few issues that made it less than ideal.

The room was on the very busy road and I could hear the traffic all night!! Sort the double glazing out it’s awful. How many more complaints of this do you need before you sort it out

Fast check in and the room had efficient air conditioning

Everything was great apart from extremely noisy air conditioning - started making dripping/ gurgling noises in the middle of the night. We had to switch it off! Then too warm so no real sleep was had which did not start our holiday off on the right foot. No staff on desk to tell when we left at 4.45 in the morning.

Second time we've stayed in the past couple of months and we'll definitely be back. The customer service is excellent - all the staff are happy, friendly and helpful. We booked a double room for one night but at short notice decided to book a secind night. By then, only a twin was available so we assumed we'd need to check out of one, leave our luggage somewhere and then check into the second room. When we went to ask about leaving luggage in the morning, the receptionist had already arranged for us to stay in the same room, checking us back into it. The hotel is perfect for the NEC. We went to Gardeners World Live and the Good Food Show and even some high profile presenters were staying and enjoying the buffet breakfast!

Did not have a great start. The room was not ready and was told this was due to a death ln the team. While this is understandable I find it quite inappropriate to share with customers. We were directed to the bar area, after nearly 2 hours we went to ask about our room. The receptionist got extremely defensive and said "I told you your room was ready age ago". Apparently she has shouted this over to us, I am hard of hearing but my husband who is not, did not hear this also. No really form of accountability or apology, she just said to a colleague "just give them a drinks voucher", then walked off. She had long black hair and was Irish. We had a lovely exchange with the lady at the bar, she was blonde with tattoos. The next issue was we were woken at 2.30 am to the fire alarm. There were no members of staff outside. When the alarm did stop about half an hour later there was one member of staff in the lobby, no explanation or form of apology. Breakfast was lovely. Next issue was that our check out tome was 12, despite this we had cleaners try to come in the room twice. Luckily we had a lock over the door.

Booked room via Hotels.com which no often use and never had any issues. Myn21 year old daughter and friend arrived at the hotel after dark and we’re already distressed becaus they had gone initially to a different hotel. Male member of staff at check in told them there was no reservation. Rude and unhelpful and told them there was nothing he could do and they would need to leave. Despite showing him the email receipt he still would not help. Tried ringing hotel nobody was picking up and then tried Hotels.com virtual assistant. They initially could not get hold of hotel. Eventually after insisting staff check again my daughters reservation was found. Hotel staff then lied to Hotels.com saying daughter had checked in over an hour earlier. Very poor service. Everything with the room was fine when they got it. Clean and comfortable. Just a pity about the attitude of the member of staff.

No issues overall was a good stay. I did arrive at early hours and the night staff didn't seem happy to see me but it was 4am. Other than that everything was fine have stayed here before and was better than a previous stay

Upon arrival we had a lengthy wait due to a que at the front desk to check in. When we were finally at the front, we were informed they were over subscribed on family rooms and that instead they would give us two twins. As we didn’t need two rooms they very nicely, paid for our parking that would have been extortionate and gave us two free drinks at the bar. Feeling rather chuffed we went upstairs and found our room wasn’t clean and had beer cans and dirty sheets from the guest before so back down to reception we went to join the long que again. They changed our room to one that was clean and all was well after that. Not a smooth check in, but once we were in we were happy.

On night one I left out the eco-friendly campaign "skip cleaning my room to save water/energy" sign, and carefully hung my towel instead of leaving on the floor too, justg in case. They ignored all this andf cleaned the room and changed the towels. On night 3 the fire alarm went off at 0324AM, and though it turned out to be a false alarm, it was impossible to find staff to confirm this so I was up awaiting that for a completely unnecessary 15 minutes and couldn't gett back to sleep. I realise this may have been guest action rather than system or staff fault, so checking out next day, I went to ask. The woman on the desk, was rude, aggressive and defensive, just repeating "I don't know cos I wasn't on overnight", and becoming loud angry and more agressive when I suggested she c lkealy didn't care. And ev en more agressive when I asked her to ensure gthat the CCTV of the front desk during this, was kept. It was no surprise, because she had already been apallingly rude and agressive to the poor lady before me, who'd paid for a room for 2 nights from the night before, been delayed in transit and called ahead to say please keep the room and I'll pay both nights, so it's ready for me whenever I arrivce - and they hadn't, but had re-let it, and all the woman on the desk weanted to do was tell her - again shouting very rudely - that it wasn't hwer fault and the re-booked room for tonight wouldn't be available for 3 hours altghough the guest had paidff for it from the day before.

Functional and convenient. The Southern Irish lady on reception when I checked in was exceptionally friendly and helpful. She made the stay a pleasant one as for me staff are what make a hotel and she nailed it.

Ideal for the NEC, close to trains, friendly staff, clean room, good breakfast

It was quiet for a big hotel. The room was what you expect from an Ibis. The bed was hard despite having a topper on it, and narrower than a standard twin too. Housekeepers worked hard, but the carpet needed a steam clean and decor getting tired. The location was good for the NEC, but it was rather spooky walking back from Resorts World, in the dark - through all of the warehousing, with no signage or footpaths!

Great location to find in the light - in the dark not easy to find. Google maps take you on a goose chase. Please advise better directions to locate hotel in the dark

Close to station, very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and modern room

Fine enough place - a bit dodgy to get to by foot from BHX/Train Stn - thru an industrial estate - poorly lit - quite shady! Room small but comfy & clean enough. The lad Vitor at desk did a great job - but the 4 women at desk when I checked out were so deep in jibber jabber they did not even say good morning when said it & dropped key.

It was fast to check-in, although it was far from the city centre it was easy enough to get a bolt or uber to get to the city. The train station is also close by so there are more options to travel from there.

Make sure you book the correct Ibis hotel near the airport. There is one w/in walkable distance from the airport, but this is not it. You could technically get there walking but need to take the train from the airport and walk another 5 minutes. Overall the stay was good and the food was pretty decent (restaurants are a good 15 - 20 minute walk away).

booked this Ibis by mistake instead of the one opposite departures, but this was more spacious, lovely walk in shower, easy walk to both the airport and the nec.

The hotel is good location for the NEC which I was attending but miles from anywhere lol. Would recommmed the reception staff were very helpful

I like the fact that you can walk to the hotel from the train station and NEC in 10 mins.

There was a mark on the sheet, it looked like it was from an iron, I tried to turn the heating down, the room was very warm, I ended up turning it off. The first meal I had was the Bacon, cheeseburger, the bacon was so hard, I couldn't eat it, after that I didn't bother, I ate out everyday, the breakfast was very nice, but can I ask why the trays are not left out, you have to ask for one every morning

The hotel was good in most respects. Clean, with very nice staff however my whole experience was marred by the awful food. The quality of all the food was very poor and also in short supply. When my friends went to order an evening meal there were no burgers nor steak. At breakfast poor bread, no marmelade and no bananas. One meal I had was prawn cocktail. Quality of prawns like rubber drowned in an acidic sauce. Chicken gougons dry. The food was so bad that it would put me off staying in hotel again.

The breakfast was terrible. Hardly any choice and what was there was minimal. The juice was broken so no juice and when you asked for a juice it was warm. Most of the time there was only one piece of bread left. The pastries were tiny and only choice between two. The room was large with lovely large windows. The air conditioning did not work and was very noisy. The reception staff did not seem to ant to be there.

All good, basic but clean. Menu very limited in the restaurant until 5pm, which not great if they are not your taste. Breakfast however was very good.

Check in and parking (£15) per night seamless Room adequate and spotless. Food reasonably priced and tasty. Staff friendly and helpful. Easy 6min walk to NEC Would recommend this hotel

Poor breakfast

I stayed 2 nights The bed was very comfortable which is important to me. The food on Sunday night really was poor though. The dirty chips had been reheated and were one big lump 😐 My drink was reasonably priced for a hotel. Breakfast on Tuesday morning was reasonable I couldn’t find any water or juice to drink though. Staff were lovely I would stay again but I would t eat there

It was a lovely hotel, but the service in the dinning area was very slow, it took 45 minutes to get our meal, and we were in there as soon the restaurant opened at 5, as we had to leave to get to a show at the NEC at 18.20. other people who came in after us and ordered were served before us, they were not their starters. I would of liked a desert but couldn't risk ordering one, incase it didn't come quick enough. The room was lovely, but we were only given one pillow each, and had to ask at reception for another two, as did many other guests.

Restaurant and bar a bit soulless but room ideal for a one night stay to catch early flight next day. Location well signposted from Airlink rail terminus at NEC

The room was quiet, comfortable and well-appointed. Each day, the room was left immaculate by staff. I liked the easy access (via a footpath) to the NEC. The dining room area was large and open. The options for breakfast were tasty and good. There was only one disappointment; the evening meal I ordered was poor: over-cooked salmon, under-cooked green vegetables and re-heated mashed potato.
