Booked this venue as working in Brighton. I knew there was no onsite parking, so parked on Marine Parade, 5 minute walk. This was the most expensive parking I have paid for in Brighton, which was £14.50 for 4 hours. Communication from owners in advance of arrival, with number code to gain access to premises and to room. I was in room 7 on 2nd floor. Stairs of premises (no lift) were steep. Room was lovely (no desk) as was ensuite. Shower was small, I would not be able to bend over and pick up shampoo/soap. For a 1 night stay it was great.

Would be great if they could leave some fruit or other breakfast item in the room perhaps... It was also very difficult to find the parking suggested by the property, ended up parking about 1/2km away and cost £18 for 24hrs.

There is no lobby, no one to contact for any doubt, no restaurant or any amenities. I do not know why the score for the hotel is a 8.8, i would give the a 5 or below. Everything seems old, shady, insecure, dirty. We hated it.

My wife and I stayed in room 3 for one night . The room was perfect in every way. Everything that we could have hoped for was provided. It was clean and comfortable. My only beef was the lack of a proper reception. The reception is remote via an intercom. That system did not work and we only got inside because another guest let us in. Aside from that it was great.

Was expecting a hotel, got a self check in B&B without the breakfast option, no amenities, not even plates and cutlery in room, had to eat my takeaway off of the tray the kettle was sat on. Had room 8, top floor with no A/C in very hot weather, also, couldn’t have a shower as it was barely a trickle of water. Very disappointing as it looks quite nice on the hotels.com site. To access most of the rooms, you need to negotiate several flights of steep, narrow stairs, would be quite challenging for anyone with mobility issues or the elderly. Overall, quite a misleading advert for very basic accommodation, wouldn’t recommend.

I wouldnt class this as a 4* hotel. The outside area is very uncared for, carpets in communal areas are stained. Rooms are fairly basic - TV didnt work, no mirror, no daily housekeeping unless specifically requested, shower not working properly, no staff seen at all. Nice conveninet location near the front and Kemptown. Fully 'automated' though so you are sent an access code and see no one your entire stay. I get that its efficient and saves cost but it makes the whole experience pretty soulless - its nice to have an actual human to chat to and get tips for the area etc.

Didn’t realise when I booked, but we had stayed here before almost 10 years ago. Good location, close to the sea and paid parking nearby. I felt this visit the B&B was a little tired. First impression The Courtyard could do with a tidy up, rubbish left on table. Our room was very small but functional. Bedding and towels were clean, bottle of water left plus tea and coffee. Bottled water needed to fill kettle due to the sink being very small. I am not sure the shower had been cleaned, water marks on the shower doors and hair on top of the drain. Overall stay was ok, just a bit disappointed.

Great sea view from the bedroom. Bedding and towel and shower spotlessly clean. Close to town centre and very close to view of the beach. Room size excellent for one. Shame the toilet and I realise there isn’t room, was along the hall. I got lucky as other tenants were quiet, not always guaranteed in Brighton. Everything concluded on text/email, didn’t see a member of staff. There is a telephone number to contact someone but I had no need of this service.

First impressions of the outside of the property was disappointing in need of tidying and it was very shabby. We stayed in room 3 which was a very large suite. We were upgraded to this room . The stairs were a challenge with our case. When we first got into the room the first thing I saw was a large piece of wall which had broken plaster exposed to the block and another hole in the wall and evidence of a leak in the ceiling. The room was very clean we had a queen size bed which was comfortable. There was plenty of space to sit and watch tv on a sofa. Tea coffee biscuits even chocolate which was a nice touch. A fridge which is very handy. Plenty of hangers for hanging your clothes. We had balcony which again needed Attention . Think this property has a few issues with plumbing needs some cosmetic jobs repairing. It is because this property is a very old building. We found we had a quiet sleep. It is just looking tired In places.

Upgraded to stay here at the last min and I’m glad I did - what a gem! Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Everything was very well thought out, with nice touches. From the complimentary chocolate and clear coffee machine instructions, to thinking to provide a sanitary towel and cotton pads for guests. The owner also let me know ahead of time that there was no breakfast (plenty of places nearby though!) and also checked I got my check-in details okay. This was the perfect stay for the Brighton on the Beach music festival, as only a few mins walk from the beach. I felt very safe here as a solo guest and would happily return. Thank you!

Super easy to check in, property was lovely & clean, convenient to nice bars and restaurants and easy walk to City centre. Bathroom toiletries were great. Few little areas behind TV and wardrobe that need a bit of TLC but would definitely stay again. Owner contacted us beforehand to confirm a few details which was greatly appreciated. Definitely recommend.

Good value, clean and convenient guest house. Got a great rate for the ground floor king room on my first stay. Big comfy bed, balcony, coffee machine, decent sized bathroom. Second stay was a small double room on second floor up a tight staircase. It was a tight room too, bed pushed against the wall, but still clean and good value.

Nice room and great location, sadly let down by poor noise isolation and lack of en suite in single room. The guy above was completely inconsiderate - kept me awake until 3am. Don't stay here if you value a good night's sleep.

Booked for the August bank holiday weekend which is understandably a peak time, but honestly for the price which is more than I’ve paid in some central London Hilton’s the room was very small and basic. Damp around the windows, very poor water pressure and paper thin walls shared with 9 other rooms in the very steep building. This is an air bnb for very able bodied people due to the stairs. It is not a 4 star hotel and there is not reception. For some reason, entry codes work the second time each time you input them but not the first time. Tea and coffee making facilities are available but there’s no space for a mini fridge.

This is a beautiful little hotel in a lovely location. It was exactly as described and really well thought through. I would 100% recommend. Ps the mattress in seaview room needs to be changed but certainly doesnt remove any stars or high praise.

The hotel was in a great location, and the room itself was nice. However, in the Basic Single Room you had your own shower and sink, but had to use the shared toilet in the hall. This toilet was narrower than an airplane toilet - when sitting on it both my legs were easily touching the walls. I had to make sure that I used the toilet when I was in a restaurant or something, as I didn't fit in the toilet here. If you are not skinny, do not book the Basic Single Room.
The hotel was in a great location, and the room itself was nice. However, in the Basic Single Room you had your own shower and sink, but had to use the shared toilet in the hall. This toilet was narrower than an airplane toilet - when sitting on it both my legs were easily touching the walls. I had to make sure that I used the toilet when I was in a restaurant or something, as I didn't fit in the toilet here. If you are not skinny, do not book the Basic Single Room.

Really good value for money, great location and sea views. No toilet in room but there was a sink and shower and a shared toilet. Really good base for exploring Brighton and very close to the beach. There was no reception but the manage read easy to contact by phone and was friendly. Clean and no issues with stay. I stayed on the top floor so there were lots of stairs but that was no issue for me .

the room was dinky but perfect for one person and convenient to getting everywhere. It was beautifully decorated and the bed was extremely comfortable - hotel standard. The street was quieter than anticipated so I was relieved to get a good night's sleep. Will stay again.

No power plugs in the room only a standard USB port which wasn't suitable for my USB-C charger for my phone. In all my travels i have never encountered a room without a power plug. No ideal! Good selection of tea. Clean room, all you need for a night or two. Great location close to city. Unfortunately the people in the room above us were very noisy walking around, moving things until about midnight then started back up at 6am. So we didnt get much sleep. Easy check in, friendly cleaning staff who also helped with my suitcase down the stairs.

The stay was great, eventually! I am disabled, therefore cannot manage very narrow stairs, and my room was on the third floor with no toilet! If I wanted to go to the toilet, I would have had to navigate down one set of stairs in the middle of the night! I rang the manager, and he offered me a room on the ground floor with an ensuite bathroom and double bed. But, with an extra charge of £50, which I wasn't prepared to pay. The stay was great, eventually! I am disabled, therefore cannot manage very narrow stairs, and my room was on the third floor with no toilet! If I wanted to go to the toilet, I would have had to navigate down one set of stairs in the middle of the night! I rang the manager, and he offered me a room on the ground floor with an ensuite bathroom and double bed. But, with an extra charge of £50, which I wasn't prepared to pay. My wife and I stayed in room 3 for one night . The room was perfect in every way. Everything that we could have hoped for was provided. It was clean and comfortable. My only beef was the lack of a proper reception. The reception is remote via an intercom. That system did not work and we only got inside because another guest let us in. Aside from that it was great.

I've stayed here a couple of times while visiting Brighton. An impeccable small hotel. I like that there is no effective check in as codes to enter the hotel and the room are provided in advance. They have also been great around late check-outs which do come at a small fee. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely weekend at the White House, perfect location and the room was perfect. The owner was quick to reply to messages and sent a hairdryer over when it was missing. Overall a really great stay and we will be back!

Super easy to check in, property was lovely & clean, convenient to nice bars and restaurants and easy walk to City centre. Bathroom toiletries were great. Few little areas behind TV and wardrobe that need a bit of TLC but would definitely stay again. Owner contacted us beforehand to confirm a few details which was greatly appreciated. Definitely recommend.

No nonsense. Room worked for what I needed and was easy to access. Only issue I had with my stay was noise out in the street but I’m not sure that can be helped. It’s in a busy city after all!

It was situated within walking distance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital which I needed to be at each day during my stay. Perfect for people needing to accompany loved ones having medical treatment away from home.

The White House is perfectly adequate if what you need is a place to lay your head for the night. It is clean and quiet. Well located. But there are no frills, and it feels bit shabby around the edges and sadly unloved. Probably because there are no staff - you just use a code for access. But fine for a work trip.

Fantastic location, being 10 mins to Kemptown and 20 to the Lanes. Right near the seafront also! Very secure and quiet location even on a Saturday night! The facilities are perfect, with robes, fridge and comfy bed. Will be returning here on my next Brughton visit!

Very small, but clean and comfortable room. Great communication and easy check in process. I don't think I realised at the time of booking that no breakfast was available at the property which wasn't ideal. Would be great if they could leave some fruit or other breakfast item in the room perhaps... It was also very difficult to find the parking suggested by the property, ended up parking about 1/2km away and cost £18 for 24hrs.

There is no lobby, no one to contact for any doubt, no restaurant or any amenities. I do not know why the score for the hotel is a 8.8, i would give the a 5 or below. Everything seems old, shady, insecure, dirty. We hated it.

Was expecting a hotel, got a self check in B&B without the breakfast option, no amenities, not even plates and cutlery in room, had to eat my takeaway off of the tray the kettle was sat on. Had room 8, top floor with no A/C in very hot weather, also, couldn’t have a shower as it was barely a trickle of water. Very disappointing as it looks quite nice on the hotels.com site. To access most of the rooms, you need to negotiate several flights of steep, narrow stairs, would be quite challenging for anyone with mobility issues or the elderly. Overall, quite a misleading advert for very basic accommodation, wouldn’t recommend.

Upgraded to stay here at the last min and I’m glad I did - what a gem! Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Everything was very well thought out, with nice touches. From the complimentary chocolate and clear coffee machine instructions, to thinking to provide a sanitary towel and cotton pads for guests. The owner also let me know ahead of time that there was no breakfast (plenty of places nearby though!) and also checked I got my check-in details okay. This was the perfect stay for the Brighton on the Beach music festival, as only a few mins walk from the beach. I felt very safe here as a solo guest and would happily return. Thank you!

I had a good experience at the White House. Very nicely located near the beach and bus stops to get into the centre. The room was clean and had everything I needed for two nights. Having the toilet in the hallway was a bit uncomfortable at night as the hallway is small, has some steps and you need to use your code to get back in the room, but it was fine during the day. Overall I had a great time.
