The Wellington Hotel

A very short time in the hotel as we were out all day. The staff were extremely helpful allowing us to drop bags on arrival. This hotel is in a brilliant location for sightseeing but being right next to waterloo station it was very noisy with every train!! The rooms are above a lovely pub but this was not a problem with noise that i thought may be an issue..... the staff we brilliant thank you kim

The staff were awesome! The food was very good. It would have been nice to know no elevators.

Perfect location, opposite Waterloo Station and about a 20 minute walk to the London Eye and The Strand/Covent Garden. We had a family room which was really spacious and comfortable, bathroom could do with a little TLC but clean and perfectly useable. We had a great meal in the pub and could not fault the breakfast. Separate door for hotel guests to use once checked in, check in at 3 but you can leave your luggage prior to check in. We were on the top floor so lots of steps to climb as no lift but this was not a problem for us. Staff really helpful and friendly, would definitely stay again.

Nice single room, good facilities including free drinks (including beer and cider) in the room. Excellent location, with lots of shops, bars and restaurauants around. Only issue was noise from what i assume was overnight engineering works at the station, but the hotel provided earplugs!

Amazing staff and lovely room, convenient location. No lifts will definitely be a concern for those with mobility issues.

Stayed for two nights and we were able to check in early which was a huge plus. As expected the area is noisy due to the proximity to the railway but the hotel has done its best to minimise this with additional double glazing (the room did get hot due to this and as there is no air con I imagine would be stifling in the summer), ear plugs certainly still helped. The bathroom was small but functional with plenty of hot water. The bed was ok for me but my wife found it very uncomfortable, it did feel as though the mattress was at the end of its life, the blackout blinds worked well, however the extremely bright green LED in the ceiling (presumably to light the exit) lit up the entire room and made sleep extremely difficult to the point I had to buy an eye mask for the second night. Breakfast was plentiful, although the ingredients were not the best it did the job. Location is great for the West End and Southbank attractions all just a short walk away.

The lack of lifts makes the luggage. Oven ent more challenging and the proximity to train station is a plus and minus.

Hotel is couple of minutes walk from exit 2 at Waterloo station Booked a twin room as it was for my daughter & myself for her hen weekend. The room was quite warm but there were fans provided. Had a fridge in the room with complimentary milk & bottles of water. Breakfast was included in the room price & was delicious, cooked perfectly.

Older building with unfortunate absence of elevator - but: the staff is very kind and helpful moving suitcases fit you in and out of the room. Very good water pressure and shower all renovated to the current standards. Breakfast is excellent. Thank you !

Lovely room as always with free beers and soft drinks in the fridge. The hotel area of the pub (stairs and carpet) are in dire need of a refurb but overall it’s a great place to stay with a good breakfast. My work here in London is coming to an end and I’ll really miss this place 😢

Clean room and bathroom. Friendly personnel. Noicy surrounding as the room faced the street. Nice pub on the groundfloor, breakfast was good. For a short visit this hotel filled it’s funktion.

Really convenient location, a few minutes walk from Waterloo. We’d stayed before and liked the place so booked again. Check in was odd, the guy couldn’t have been less interested if he tried. Room has decent facilities, but the bathroom was dirty, which was a shame. The shelf in the bathroom makes it difficult to brush your teeth. Breakfast however is excellent.

The Wellington is a great place to stay if you need to be close to the central action of London. Many areas are within walking distance and the Waterloo train station is directly across the street. I stayed in a room with my wife and daughter, which met our needs perfectly. It was a decent size, was clean and had moderate updates. The building is quite old, so it is quite worn in many areas. For example, carpets, walls and railings in the main stairwell. Cracked paint and built in dirt around windows etc… So if your preference is new and shiny, this won’t be for you. However, we all enjoyed our stay. The breakfast each morning in the pub was perfect, lots of options and the staff and service was excellent. I would definitely recommend the Wellington.

Worst hotel experience ever. Mould in the bathroom. Horrific smell. Avoid family room - especially when travelling with children - at all costs.

Fair accommodation for the location, the property and the price. The windows could do with a good scrub mind!

Incredible staff; friendly and accommodating! Easy check-in process! Highly recommend! There is a wonderful bar and restaurant located on the first floor, but we could not hear any noise! Great food and drinks!! The street/location is a little noisy, with a busy road and train station close by, but with ear plugs we all slept well! Only area of improvement would be the bathroom in room; significant amount of mildew (black mold). Thanks for an enjoyable time!! We’ll be back!!

The room was clean, comfortable and the shower was excellent. The service at breakfast was wonderful and the chef was a lovely man who was very concerned I'd lost my voice! The location of the hotel was perfect for where we needed to be and although it is above a pub the only noise I heard was the usual sound of sirens always heard in a large city. However there were some negatives - at check-in the guy seemed as if he didn't want to be there or that I was an intrusion into the other work he needed to be doing. He seemed to have a lot of trouble understanding my name - including which was my first name and which my surname. This made me worried my booking wasn't valid and he made up some ridiculous reason for this. The stairs from the entry/pub to the room are in definite need of refurb. The carpet looks like it's been there for my entire life (I'm 58!) It doesn't give a very welcoming or positive first impression. The outside of the windows also are in desperate need of cleaning.

At first I was a bit disappointed because my Tower was a bit 'rundown' / needed some TLC & my 'window view' was truly awful. However, given the location near Waterloo Station those options are limited! BUT that impression changed as I settled & realised what value I was getting for my money! My very compact double en- suite room had everything one could want - already aware there were limitations. It was clean with generous linen supplies & complimentary provisions. The Staff were friendly, cheerful & helpful. The Food was superb, although I only had the Breakfast Option this time. My Compliments to The Wellington's Chef David - his presentation has flair & he should consider entering Professional Master Chef & could stand a good chance of making the Finals! It has a large,well stocked & very busy Bar & Restaurant area decorated with historical murals; filled with happy patrons from lunchtime on and many big screen TVs, showing all the Sport.The Location of the Hotel on South Bank is excellent in terms of Transport Services & easy access on foot to many of London's Cultural & Tourist attractions.The Wellington Hotel is steeped in a fascinating history of its own & I was sad to leave after my two night stay. I would not hesitate to book in there again - if I am lucky enough to get in! (Foot Note:The accommodation area is not suitable for those who are Physically Challenged as there are no lifts & the stairs are narrow, twisting & steep.)

Very small room - if I'd been any bigger than size 12 I would not have fitted in the bed or the bathroom... I realised from the map that I was very close to the railway tracks, but had no idea I'd be THAT close! The shower was lovely and hot.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, which got things off to a good start. However, there is no elevator, and accessing the upper floors requires climbing narrow, steep stairs—which was quite inconvenient, especially with luggage. The room was reasonably clean, though not spotless, and overall just okay. The furnishings and infrastructure felt quite dated—not in a charming or vintage way, but more on the worn and tired side. The bathroom was especially small and felt quite claustrophobic. On the positive side, the lobby and restaurant areas had a great atmosphere, which made spending time outside the room enjoyable. The location is excellent, very central and convenient for exploring the area. If you're looking for a well-located hotel with character in the common areas and don’t mind sacrificing modern comfort, this might be a decent pick.

Access with baggage is a bit challenging from the street and once inside. Staff were helpful and kind. Location so close to Waterloo station is a big plus. En suite bathroom very nice if a little on the small side. Bed comfy. Train line next to the window provided some noise until quite late.

It’s basically a big pub opposite the country’s busiest railway station so expectations weren’t high. I’d drank there a few times before but never stayed. The stairwell and carpet are tired and there was no carpet in the room. Also needed a blackout blind to deal with the bright light from the station but the glazing kept most of the noise out. But the good stuff! A lovely room - nice wood floor, excellent shower with wash products, really good coffee tray inc chocs and a complimentary fridge which inc soft drinks and a couple of little bottles of London Pride! Breakfast in the pub area was absolutely fine with the hot food to order. Great location for all central London needs if you’re a tourist (I work here) and good value for what you get. Good breakfast and wonderful pub with helpfull and kind staff. The Wellington is little bit worn out(heard that they are starting renovating it)but i enjoyed staying there 6 nights. The food,both in breakfast and meny was excellent.The Waterloo station is just across the street so your can travel anywhere in London very fast.

We arrived at reception having booked a room for two adults and a twelve year old child, and they told us that they did not have a room for us because there was no space for an extra bed in the room. I had booked for two adults and a child! They just said they would cancel our booking and refund the money. They did not offer to help us find a new room for the night. I can´t give a review for the room since we did not get one. But maybe that was a good thing since the noise in the pub was deafening.

What a lovely welcoming and friendly pub and hotel. All the staff from bar, cleaning and breakfast staff are helpful and efficient. Breakfast is varied and sets you up for the day. Great location and easy to get to from Euston station. Thanks to all the team at The Wellington.

This was our third stay at The Wellington Hotel and everything was as good before apart from our check in. We waited ages to be served, then the man told us we had to wait a couple of minutes and went back to serving coffees. We asked another server after a few minutes what we were waiting for and he told us a manager. After a few more minutes I went to the other end of the bar (where the first server was still serving coffee) and asked what the wait was for. He again said a manager and went to get him. The manager explained there was an issue with a system and it had to be a manager login (a very understandable reason). If this had been communicated we would have been happy waiting, as it was, we just felt that the servers were inattentive and rude which out a damper on the beginning of our stay. I think we waited a good 15 minutes before the manager came out. Other than this the stay was great, good clean rooms, perfect location and wonderful breakfast. We will be back :)

Great place for our one night stop. clean and comfortable. Great breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful. Check in easy - just go into the pub where the small reception desk is.

For my first time in London we had a wonderful experience at the Wellington hotel. I normally don’t write reviews but there are some very respectable gentleman at this hotel that made it exceptional and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome! From the gentleman who greeted us and checked us in as well as the manager I chatted with a bit. Chef David cooked us a wonderful English breakfast and even Archie the hotel dog was great company that sat by me when I had my breakfast and tea . It was a great stay in the middle of London we were able to walk and see a lot of wonderful things. It was just what we needed for staying only one night. There were some stairs we had to climb to get to our room but we were very comfortable in our room. If we ever get the pleasure of coming to London again we will probably stay here again!

Chris and his staff were amazing. Very helpful. Breakfast was very good, even ate dinner there a couple nights.

Last minute booking to extend trip. Very friendly staff, older building, noisy as by station but ear plugs provided. Fantastic breakfast and just across road from station.

Great location from a transport perspective as it's right on the tube stop, but you do have to then make allowances for the noise of the tube (although ear plugs are provided). Great breakfast with plenty of choice.

Great stay. Very clean. Staff very accommodating. Extremely close to Waterloo station which is fantastic for touring London. 20 minute walk to Covent Garden. Close to London Eye, National Threatre and War Museum and many more. Second time here and we will be back.

Wonderful, accommodating, friendly staff. Great location- bus and tube right across the road. Fantastic delicious breakfast was included. It was very hot when we stayed but we had a fan in our room and a window which opened. Would stay there again and highly recommend!

It was a good hotel for the price. Rooms were small, and without air conditioning, it was sweltering and fans weren't much help. Being above the pub sounded like a good idea at the time but when trying to sleep on the street side , much less desirable. Friendly staff and the food in the pub was delicious
