The property was well maintained and clean. My wife and I enjoyed each of the restaurants and the buffet. The pool and beach are beautiful and clean! We also took advantage of several of the fit and fun classes they offered. The boot camp, strong, and kick boxing sessions were all great workouts with engaging and energetic trainers. Definitely recommend the property we had an amazing time and would not hesitate to book theirs again!

JOIA Paraiso is the nicest resort we've been to. Staff was amazing. A friendly "good morning" with a smile from everyone. Facility was impressive to say the least. Entertainment crew were great and had a lot of fun playing volleyball and other games. Food was very good, would have loved to try more dishes. We have nothing bad to say. Resort is a short drive to Excaret.

The property is beautiful. The grounds are lush and well maintained, the pools, gyms and spas are clean and modern. The "shopping mall" area where the disco club and main sauna are were not as well maintained and actually smelled awful when we went. The club was basically empty the night our young adult kids went to check it out. We stayed in the Grand side which was luxurious but lacking entertainment for young adults so we used the pool area at Maya/LIndo sections most of the time. Service was good around the pool. The food was top notch quality but our family likes our meals somewhat simpler than the majority of the restaurants at the Grand so we also ate at the restaurants in the other sections most nights. Everything we had was very good. It was disappointing how difficult is was to get reservations for most restaurants even though we tried to book our first morning there. We had to take 8:30 for several nights and did not get all the restaurants we really wanted to try. The worst part of our stay was the sales presentation. We were told it would be 90 minutes with nothing high pressue. It turned into 3 hours with an hour of extremely high pressure from 3 sales people. The last manager was really quite rude and berating us for declining his "no brainer" final offer. After that we decided we would likely not return to an Iberostar property after being lied to about the presentation and treated disrepectrully. It is a shame as the rest of our stay was nice.

As much as I hate giving this Resort only 4 stars, but after going there for over 7 years, we noticed that the rooms is a little shabby here is the negatives 1- the shower water is controlled, which makes you take a longer shower, and having a rain shower is useless 2- The Hot Tubs by the quiet pool is ice cold, which was a major disappointment this year, not sure if they trying to save money, but it totally angered yes. The other Hot Tubs are always crowded and that area is very noisy. That was not very nice Iberostar 3- The lines to have Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner at the Buffet is absolutely ridiculous, one time we waited 20 minutes. They need to develop a better system Because of the above we are considering other options next year. The staff is wonderful, no complains in this area

JOIA Paraiso was just what we needed. Relaxing, quiet, clean and beautiful. We had an ocean front 2nd floor room with the butler service. Marianna and Gustavo were amazing. The made sure we had everything we needed. Spa service was outstanding. We will be back!

This resort was outstanding in every way. From check in to check out the staff we attentive, professional, and so nice. The food was excellent, with the best buffet I've ever had. Everything was clean and easy to get to. The spa was my favorite. I felt so relaxed. I also really enjoyed all the entertainment, the singers, musicians, and the nightly evening shows. 10 out of 10 would come back again.

The hotel is nice overall, the food and service are rarely up to 5-star standards though. The pools and jacuzzi are not heated enough (we went in February, the weather was nice but not enough to heat them just with the sun), the worst was the pool villa which was very cold and completely unheated. The restaurants' menus are nice but portions are small and overall quality is lacking for a 5-star. Buffet choices for lunch are good. It's nice to have an activity and quiet pools separate and we loved being in an adults-only place.

We liked our stay here. The pools, the property, and our rooms were clean. The staff are very friendly and nice. Two things that we were not thrilled about the drinking water and the dining options. They do not offer closed secure water bottles to drink, rather they recycle their own water and put it in glass bottles. That was the only option for drinking water (which tasted like tap water). We were there for our baby moon and I didn’t feel safe drinking the water at the property so we ended up going to a supermarket (30 minutes away) to get bottled water. The other thing we were not very happy about was the food option. The Mexican restaurant was closed for renovations for our whole stay. The Japanese and the steak house were good. However, the Italian was below average. The only option for breakfast and lunch was the buffet or room service.

We recently visited the Iberostar Grand and had a wonderful experience. The hotel property and grounds are impeccable. The staff was very professional and friendly. And the food was excellent. We spent a lot of time at the pool, and there are activities great throughout the day. A special shout out to Cinthia, Alma, and Luis, who made our time at the pool exceptionally fun. They make it great time whether you are participating or just watching the activities. At dinner, we especially enjoyed the Italian restaurant the French restaurant. Words cannot describe the lunch buffet. I’ve never seen so many food options presented so well. All of the employees at the restaurants and bars have only one thing in mind - providing excellent service. We had a Butlered suite, which was made up twice a day. Again excellent service. I can’t think of anything that I would change about this property or our experience. It truly was Grand in every sense of the word. We will be back.

We loved our stay at Iberostar Grand Paraiso in Playa del Carmen. It is a beautiful hotel. All the employees were so kind and helpful. We had a relaxing stay. Everything was perfect and if there was anything we needed, the staff was right on it. The only annoyance we had was that the beach was full of nasty seaweed. Couldn't really go in the water right by our hotel but walked a little further down to another Iberostar property and they had a cleaner beach. It wasn't for lack of trying. We did see some guys out trying to clean it up but 3 guys can't do the job with that much seaweed coming in everyday. There are a bunch of rocks in that area of beach. All in all it was a great time. Great food, comfortable beds, clean hotel. Lots of entertainment.

All the staff was great and the place is beautiful. The breakfast and lunch buffet food was not always fresh even when it first opens. Restaurants foods were very good. Room service and menu was very good. They only clean up the seaweed on the left side of beach where the cabanas are and daily. However, the other half of the beach where all the umbrellas are available was only cleaned 1 day out of 7. They don't pick up small trash/cigarette butts left from weddings on that side of beach either. At most resorts staff cleans the beach every morning at the very least. If you enjoy spending all your time in the Caribbean at the pools, then you'll be in heaven.

The property is outstanding. The grounds are immaculate and the staff is overall very kind. The food is excellent. My only concern is that there was a lot of maintenance going on with the roadways and one of the jacuzzis by one of the pools. Also, the housekeeper didn’t always completely restock the mini bar.

To be fair this is a 5 star resort. I only gave it a 4 due to a few quirks at the beginning that were solved. I will start with the 3 quirks to help future visitors. The first quirk is an energy savings they are trying to do but it caused a problem for us. The light in the room are on a motion sensor to turn off light when no one is in the room. That is a good thing but they do the opposite in the middle of the night. While sleeping the first night, the lights came on by their self at 6am. The second night they came on 3 times during the night. I talked to our concierge and they sent an email to maintenance that shut off the sensor. Our following 8 days we had no issues with the lights. The second quirk was the air conditioning. It would only go down to 22c. We would wake up so hot. We mentioned it to friends at the pool and they said they asked the concierge and they turned the limit to 18c. Much better after that. To be good stewards of energy we would but the air at 24c during the day when at the pool, then turn down when back for the evening. The third and last quirk is dinner reservations. It is common at all inclusive resorts but I wish I understood. Some restaurants release their availability at different times than others. We were staying for 10 days with friends. We sat down with our concierge and it took us over an hour to make 6 reservations. We wanted all 10 but availability was sit available for several days. What is really crazy to me is we arrive at the time t

The corner Butler Ocean suite was one of the best views I’ve ever had in Mexico. This is an amazingly beautiful property. They have a lot of beautiful spots to take photos. I had my wedding ceremony here. I would not suggest having a two person wedding at this resort, but I think it would be amazing for large wedding parties where you can get help from family and friends with getting ready for your wedding, and taking good photos. Our best photos were selfies on my iPhone. The photographer didn’t follow directions for the main photos that I paid extra for. The minister was phenomenal. He gave a beautiful service. We got married in the garden area inside the lobby. It is such a beautiful area for a wedding.

Check-in was terrible - sat and waited over half hour while saw other guests being checked in earlier. Restaurant reservations were impossible. Upon arrival attempted to book reservations - only mexican restuarant was available at 9 pm - nothing else available. Resort was beautiful but rooms were dark and outdated. Room temperature was warm - lowest thermostat would go was 72 degrees. Beverages are not replenished - have to request. AVOID the sales pitch. You are promised no pressure and meeting would not take more than 90 minutes. The pitch was over two and half hours long before we were able to end it. Had to go through 5 different "sales" people. Last was rude, condescending, and tried to pressure. Left a bad taste - ruined our day. NEVER again. Been to 3 Iberostar Grands - not sure we\'ll returen.

The hotel far exceeded my expectations. We found it to be very elegant, classy and high quality. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and most were well versed in English. Our room was cleaned every day with turn-down service. That feature doesn't seem to be offered in the US much anymore. We really appreciated that. The food was fantastic and the array of hotels at the Grand was amazing. We only had one bad experience at the Japanese Bistro where we waited over one hour for any of our food. We think that the waiter forgot to put in our order, but it was a minor inconvenience. The pools and pool service was top notch. We spent time at the main pool and the quiet pool and both were very relaxing. We didn't have any problem finding a cabana each time. The shows at night were very enjoyable. The resort felt like a cruise on land, but without the massive crowds. We would love to go back again.

This stay was to celebrate our 21 year anniversary. This was our first big trip out of the State/ International and it was the best experience. I am not sure how next years vacation will live up to this trip. It was the best relaxing but exciting fullfilling times we have ever had. The service was incredible they made you feel like you were the president or someone very important from the bellmen to the cafe shop everywhere you felt wanted to be there and everyone had such good attitudes. We loved it can't wait to go back.

You will not find anywhere better than what you will have it at the Grand. Luis, Mauro, Alexander, Ruben, and Antonio were our Butlers. Amazing. Christian was our server every day at the buffet and remembered our preferences and had them without asking. Armando who barbecued at the pool every day was such a good guy and was such a nice treat at the pool. Jorge was great at the front and helped with transportation anywhere we needed. Aunice, the manger of La Breza was great as well. Was at the resort for 8 days and not one single issue with anyone on staff. So many hidden little gems on this property that it is somewhere we are already planning our return! Thanks for setting the bar so high and cant wait to see our second family again! Anyone complaining about this staff or this place are just complainers and looking for something free in my opinion.

Property is opulent and immaculately clean (especially in places you wouldn’t expect it to be perfect like the restrooms at the pool). Food is very good to excellent. All staff is very friendly and willing to please. Had trouble getting consistency from the butlers/concierges and room service for things we wanted resupplied in the room every day/evening. Otherwise, service is better by far than anywhere else we have ever stayed.

Great hotel. Great grounds. Issue with getting water in room daily. Maid service blamed room service which was annoying at this price point. Daily issues. Pool area hardscape was worn down. Food options great. Had to make reservations via app which didn’t work so had to use concierge. Have to book days in advance to get “regular “ times. French and Japanese restaurants were great. Italian very good to average. Breakfast and lunch buffet were delicious. Tacos available at beach were delicious. Some staff members had a little attitude but mostly really friendly and welcoming.

The hotel itself is very beautiful, staff is great except at restaurants. They are bothered and rushing to get you in and out. Unfortunately if you are not a member you are second rate. We scheduled reservations to multiple restaurants with the concierge upon check in. Every reservation was non existent. We found out on the reservation date that restaurants were closed on said day. When we tried to get in at a first come first serve restaurant we were quoted 20min (restaurant only has 4 tables occupied out at 25). After an hour of waiting, multiple tables were strategically given to members who arrived after us and were not on the waiting list. Multiple groups were upset and confronted the host about their lack of communication. Once seated we had approximately 5min to order because “the restaurant is now full and our kitchen staff cannot accommodate”. I wish there was more awareness towards non members. Maybe their memberships would grow if they accommodated everyone equally.

Place was amazing. I took my wife there for her birthday. The food was amazing. Room was amazing. The staff was beyond friendly. I loved the fact that when you got a beer they gave you a can and there wasn’t a towel checker either. It is a 100% encapsulated site. So you really can’t leave the property unless you take a cab. The stores are quite expensive on a relative basis. So make sure you have everything you need. It is a 5 star world class resort, be prepared to be impressed

This is the nicest resort (in the Cancun area) that we've ever stayed in! We've been to 7 others (in Cancun) and this was beyond our expectations. First off, the hotel is absolutely beautiful. The artwork is Renaissance era, which I happen to love and the floors shine like glass. Our room and restroom were very spacious. The beach is the cleanest beach we've ever seen. They constantly pick up the seaweed throughout the day. The beach has a small rocky area that is unswimmable but to the left of the resort is a nice sized sandy beach. We always had a chair on the beach without having to "reserve" it early in the morning

First time in Cancun. So many options. And of course I research everything and try to get the best spot that fits our requirements. WELL! Iberostar is a non stop shop of fun and relaxation. We stayed at the Grand and had access to all 5 resorts and something around 30 places to eat. 10-15 places to get a drink or entertainment. Our only issue was not staying long enough to enjoy it all. 40 min ride from airport even in construction. 40 min from excaret and all the amusement parks. The staff at Iberostar made sure we had a taxi and made sure we were taken care of with no over charging. The food at Grande was amazing. The buffet alone would have been perfect. But the restaurants were great as well. At the Grande its much more elegant and "fancy". So not your typical meals you might get at just a regular restaurant. But the taste, presentation and service was fantastic. The fun pool was our spot. Really didnt want to do much but relax in pool. People watch and enjoy the entertainment. We were there in off season. So everything was easily accessible. Some things were closed or limited. But we do off season to avoid crowds and it was worth it for us. Room service was easy and good. Not always the best quality but we were impressed with speed of service and taste. We also stayed in a villa. Which was maybe the nicest place we have ever stayed. Butler service. Our own small pool. Bicycles to get around. First time in Riviera Maya and Iberostar wins

Wonderful amazing stay. Best resort thus far. Staff extremely humble and attentive, especially our Butlers. Now I was not impressed with the Steak house or French restaurant. Asian was very entertaining and fun to attend. Buffet was always great and good for a quick meal. No complaints overall!! Will try Joia in Aruba next!!!

We have stayed here several times, last in 2019. The main changes we noticed were: 1. Easier to make and change dinner reservations 2. All restaurants were great, except that the choice at the Mexican restaurant seemed limited. House wine quality was terrible and needs improvement 3. Breakfast and lunch buffet selections were very good 4. There was no longer the option of the dinner buffet; please bring that back! 5. Entertainment was very disappointing because of the location in the lobby rotunda. Viewing was impeded by shrubs, and it does a disservice to both guests and performers. I think that this is a major negative change. I was not prepared to pay $125 pp for the Ilusio show. Entertainment needs to move back into the theater or the pool side. 6. My compliments to the staff for their courtesy and attentiveness. Special compliments for Eusebio, our server at the Venezia! 7. I recommend that the room fridge be restocked daily, not just when requested. Overall, we had a great stay.

This resort was outstanding in every way. From check in to check out the staff we attentive, professional, and so nice. The food was excellent, with the best buffet I've ever had. Everything was clean and easy to get to. The spa was my favorite. I felt so relaxed. I also really enjoyed all the entertainment, the singers, musicians, and the nightly evening shows. 10 out of 10 would come back again.

My wife and I loved our stay at Joia by Paraiso. We took a 10 day vacation away from our busy lives and the kids. The staff was always friendly and gave generally great service. The food at the buffet varied every night and was amazing. We tried the restaurants and the food was a little too fancy for us so we don’t have much of an opinion here other than sometimes the service there was good and sometimes it was just ok. The entertainment team was great. There are many activities everyday and they keep things fun. Jules, Raymundo, Pedro, Cassadra and Mala stood out to me. The daily crazy games are a must. The pool bar is the place to be in the afternoon and the barmen there give a great service (Luis, Saulo and Gabriel). You get access to all the other lobbies as well which is great. Golf course right on site, I didn’t get to play on this trip but some other guests had good comments on the course conditions. We went scuba diving with Dressel Divers that have a dive center right on site (it’s at another lobby so a 5-10min golf cart trip), we purchased a package that included different dives and it was great (we’re certified divers). The rooms were the best i’ve had in any all inclusive resort even if we got the basic room. We didn’t always go to the shows but when we did they were pretty good. The rock show was absolutely amazing with the lead guitarist being the best i’ve seen live performing all the solos. We loved our trip and chances are that we will be back at this resort.

Great hotel. Great grounds. Issue with getting water in room daily. Maid service blamed room service which was annoying at this price point. Daily issues. Pool area hardscape was worn down. Food options great. Had to make reservations via app which didn’t work so had to use concierge. Have to book days in advance to get “regular “ times. French and Japanese restaurants were great. Italian very good to average. Breakfast and lunch buffet were delicious. Tacos available at beach were delicious. Some staff members had a little attitude but mostly really friendly and welcoming.

Food selection was fine. Some selections could have been warmer especially breakfast. Lunch and dinner at the buffet was good. Not fond of Mexican restaurant. Italian and Japanese were good. The thing that stands out the most about this property was the outstanding service. Everyone was genuinely happy to assist you and make your stay pleasant. It was rare to pass by any staff member who didn’t smile and say hello and that included landscaping and maintenance staff. Wildlife at the site was also entertaining.

Service was great, very clean, very prompt and friendly staff, lots of options for food, pools, drinks, atmospheres. Like any resort, only reason to remove a star was for the food. It’s hard to have several restaurants and produce high quality food across the board, undstansable, but I would rate food alone anywhere from 5-7 out of 10. Occasional good food item but not consistent.

Beautiful property. We had the VIP access and our butlers were good or excellent for our stay. The food options are great. We would highly recommend the buffet and all of the restaurants with the exception of the Japanese hibachi. We will definitely be back.
