Rathbone Mansions New Orleans

The room was not really what we expected. There were a lot of dings and dents in the walls and it was just sort of a letdown. The pool was across the street from the house they put us in. We were surprised upon arrival that we were in another house. And the area was a bit rundown. Overall, it was not a great experience.

The hotel, conveniently located adjacent to the French Quarter, was full of antique charm, from a four post bed to a vanity complete with decorative accoutrements. The French doors and dormers let in an amazing amount of natural light and fresh air from the connected balcony which allowed for outdoor enjoyment of morning coffee. The pool was only a few feet deep but, we spent our outdoor time mostly in the bubble-free hot tub, there was a lovely trellis overflowing with jasmine which filled the air with a magical aroma. The only downsides would be the minimal view from our room and the air conditioning unit that sounded like an active piece of construction machinery. Staff was friendly and helpful, if not a bit skeptical of the possibility of resident ghosts.

Absolutely perfect stay for my first time in New Orleans! Hot tub and pool area were great, check-in was easy, the room was lovely— and they had extra umbrellas. Really recommend, it’s within walking distance of major areas, but was quiet and located more within a residential area. I 💗 Rathbone!!

Beautiful old hotel full of character and charm

Loved our room and stay. If you want an authentic New Orleans residential place to stay, this is the place! They have 2 properties one across the street from another. I would have enjoyed it better if we were staying at the property with the pool and hot tub. We had to walk across the street to get to it.
