Hotel DeBrett

The room was spacious but the furniture wasn’t that good; desk chair chipped and grubby looking; TV in an impossible position to watch comfortably and had a smallish screen; bathroom was OK. The staff person at reception had a diffident attitude. I had to go behind the desk to find him as he didn’t appear when we arrived. He was screen focused and appeared disinterested in responding to a guest arrival or to the details of my reservation. This was way below my expectations of a “5 star” hotel. The female reception staff member that we saw later was excellent - customer focused, very polite and helpful. However, my view of the hotel was already negatively affected by a first impression. Also the bar MC encouraged us to return for a drink after we came back from the concert. We did this at around 10:15 and the bar was closed!!! Again this was disappointing! I’m a frequent business traveller and like to support independent hotels, but sadly, when in Auckland again, I’ll be staying at a high quality international chain hotel.

Nice hotel in a very convenient CBD location. Very limited parking at the front making it difficult to checkin/checkout. No onsite parking.

Staff were very helpful. The bar area is great and a two free drink vouchers were awesome.

Easy to find, wonderfully situated. The room was perfect and clean. Staff were lovely but slow, particularly at the bar. Would expect to not have to pay for water from the room bar but hey. Car parking is situated a short distance away. $35 for 1 night. I’m always loathed to pay for parking, particularly for a 5 star hotel, but this additional cost was clearly stated when making the booking to be fair.

An outstanding hotel in a great location. Our suite was large and comfortable with a great bathroom and a separate guest bathroom. Furnishings were carefully chosen and are excellent. The restaurant serves a full breakfast. One complaint: WiFi was not reliable and was unavailable for more than 18 hours.

The hotel itself has a really cool vibe throughout. Everything is well-maintained and also retro chic. The restaurant is fantastic. We went to high tea and cannot say enough about how wonderful the offerings were. The staff is extremely friendly and the rooms were super comfortable and clean. Also, have to say the tub was fantastic and very deep so made for a wonderful evening hot soak with bath salts readily available!! The only thing I will say is a possible negative is that the parking garage actually cost less if you pay per day than if you use their parking pass. So I would just decline the parking but use the parking garage. They recommend anyway, because it is very convenient, well priced and safe.

The hotel is a traditional hotel in great restored condition. We found the room lovely. Very clean, good choice of complementary tea and coffee and well stocked minibar although we enjoyed a drink in the lovely small English style private bar. Breakfast was from a full menu and our choice was very generous.

Perfect location, great boutique size, extremely comfortable rooms and bathrooms. Love the access to the gym up the road. Staff were exceptional, polite, informed, helpful. Always available. Couldn’t fault any aspect and can’t wait to return.

Hotel DeBrett has a great location on a quiet street in the central business district. We never had any noise issues and found the room to be quite spacious and nice. The manager accommodated an early video call I needed to make and the bar had excellent drinks. Parking is a block away in a garage and costs $35/day (which was not explained when I booked it). But otherwise, it was a great stay!

We kwamen naar dit hotel om uit te rusten in een mooie 5 sterren hotel, maar 3 sterren past er beter bij. We snappen ook niet waar de 5 sterren vandaan komt. De cafe onder ons begon om 6 uur al met voorbereiden op de dag, waardoor we continue geklop en geschuif van stoelen hoorden. Om half 8 ging de muziek aan. Gelijk aangegeven bij receptie en gingen er naar kijken. Eerste dag dus geen andere optie aangeboden. Tweede ochtend gelijk naar beneden gelopen.Er werd verteld dat ze in gesprek zouden gaan met cafe. Dit was om 6 uur in de ochtend. Om half 8 muziek ging aan en ging weer naar beneden. Receptie medewerker liep mee. Eindelijk werd ons aangeboden om te “slapen” in een andere kamer ( dit werd niet gelijk aangeboden, maar pas na de tweede nacht) Terwijl we opgepikt zouden worden door onze taxi om 11 uur. ( heb slechte gezondheid en dit zou me teveel energie kosten). Dit was het enige wat ze voor ons konden betekenen. Toen we uit gingen checken werd ons onze taxi kwijtgescholden voor de lasten €40 omgerekend. Hoe fijn dit ook was dit vonden we in onze ogen zeker niet voldoende. Ze adverteren hun hotel als een 5 sterren hotel. Gingen hier slapen om bij te komen en te genieten van de “ comfort”, maar dit was ver te vinden. Al met al was dit hotel zeker niet de moeite waard!

The location is great in the heart of the CBD, and close by to restaurants, public transportation and Queen street. The room was also clean and very spacious, including a bathtub. It was a comfortable stay. Staff are also friendly and helpful.

Our stay at Hotel Debrett was absolutely amazing. The premise was clean and well setup. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We loved enjoying breakfast in the restaurant there!

Good location, clean, and functional. No real daylight though, "window" to the dining area.

Having an air con system that is set to a fixed temperature is ridiculous. With no opening windows, in the middle of summer, 22 degrees is simply uncomfortable and unreasonable.

The location is great in the heart of the CBD, and close by to restaurants, public transportation and Queen street. The room was also clean and very spacious, including a bathtub. It was a comfortable stay. Staff are also friendly and helpful.

I liked my stay at Hotel DeBrett a lot. The room was stylish with a vibrant unusual color scheme that was comforting. The bathroom was gorgeous and I really liked the separate tub. Interesting minibar items. It's clear a lot of thought went into the development of this property. I didn't give it five stars because of one unusual feature with my room: it didn't have a true "window." There was, in fact, a little balcony, but it opened over an interior space, just above the restaurant. Natural light was indirect through a skylight. The hotel is in an older building, and they probably didn't have many options to avoid some oddities. But, overall, great stay in a stylish place in a great central area.

We were lucky to be able to check in early thanks to the nice guy at the reception, after a long 24 hour journey we were grateful to get our room at 7am, 9 hours prior to the original check in time! We managed to get some kip and this allowed us to really make use of our day feeling refreshed. The room was clean and boutique. Some parts of the hotel could do with a bit of a spruce such as stair carpet and lift. But on the whole was a nice stay for 2 nights. Location is excellent, walking distance to so many things in about 5 mins. Couple of things to note are, if you have an inward/restaurant facing room you can hear music early in the morning for the breakfast area which was about 7:30am, so not ideal if you are wanting a lie in, and the aircon was not very strong in the room.

Simply amazing, just loved this unique boutique hotel. Small and super friendly, gorgeous decore. Such a super comfy bed and beautiful bathroom. Just loved our stay here which was only 1 night but would definitely stay again and recommend to others. Location is perfect, close to CBD and easy walk to the waterfront.

Staff was very accommodating, however location was not easy to find

The staff is very accommodating! Needed distilled water and was in my room on arrival. Need a taxi, no problem, they got one quickly and even provided a discount card. :) Great restaurant and bar on site. Would recommend and stay if ever back.

We booked this hotel for our two nights in Aukland after a cruise. Nice hotel with character and helpful staff. It was easy to walk to the waterfront, maybe ten minutes. We arrived at the hotel with our luggage by 9am and the hotel was glad to hold our luggage until check in time. On our day of departure we had an evening flight hime and the hotel again was glad to hold our luggage until we were ready to go to the airport. We would stay here again.

Hotel is convenient to harbour and restaurants. Room was sparkling, a lot of tile in bathroom, crystal knobs and mirrors on wardrobe all spotless. Nice amenities and given 1 free drink per person. We needed a scale for suitcases prior to our departure the next day. The reception person brought one the next morning. They really went out of their way to meet all our needs. We greatly appreciated their thoughtful efforts. Highly recommend.

Hotel Debrett is a hotel i choose to stay at regularly when I am in Auckland for business. The hotel is within walking distance to most things you need in the city, there are great dining options at the hotel and nearby, the rooms are spacious with a comphy bed, and most importantly the staff are fantastic greeting you with a smile and always extremely helpful

Great location and such a nice boutique hotel. We were able to check in early. This hotel had everything we needed. Bed was great. Was so close to everything and one block away from queen street but was so quiet to sleep.

The location of this hotel was great. Walking distance to ferry terminal, shopping, restaurants. Quiet location and accessible to everything we wanted. Staff very friendly and helpful. Large bathroom and shower. Loved our stay.

Quant and retro hotel. Bar is cozy. Room was very hot as air conditioning was not working properly. Breakfast was underwhelming. Scone was advertised as plain but chocolate turned up. Bacon was cut very thick. Coffee was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable although hard to sleep as hot. Unlikely stay again.

Fab decor, friendly staff, great food, tasty drinks, and the best bath I've ever had.

Was very convenient for sightseeing ,the music at breakfast was far to loud especially when our room overlooked the breakfast area.you could only pick one meal from a small breakfast selection , extras had to be paid for never had this in all the years we have traveled.

This was a wonderful place to stay! Just book it! Great location (walkable to just about anything in the CBD), friendly staff, fabulous bar and food, one of the most comfortable beds, quite room, and just a great vibe.
