La Tortuga is an amazing place to relax! We booked here because we had booked a house in another town and our host canceled. We were so glad they did! We wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was amazing right from check-in, when we were welcomed with a drink (fresh fruit juice). The pool was very nice and located next to the very chic and very relaxed restaurant/bar (think lounge music and attentive but unobtrusive service). The beds were comfortable and the A/C worked well. The hotel is a short walk to the beach (~3-5 minutes) but set back enough that it’s quiet and peaceful; we fell asleep to the sound of frogs and never heard our neighbors. The bungalow-style rooms feel secluded and private. We drove an out of the way of our original plan to stay here and did not have a ton of time, so we ate dinner on the beach and didn’t try the restaurant food. We did try the bar, which was excellent.

The breakfast was so cute and cooked to order. Fresh fruit, omelette, and natural juices. The pool is open 24/4 and is great after a long day of adventures. The area is super walkable, I had a blast!

First with the good: The grounds were beautiful as was the pool. The staff were kind and respectful however English was not easily understood. The bed was comfortable and the outside sitting area was lovely and quiet. The negatives: The shower head in unit2 had no pressure, the bracket holding the shower head was broken. Lots of ambient light at night making it challenging to sleep. The distance to the beach was more like 450m through a concrete walled laneway. Breakfast was small and plain but nicely served. Drinking water was not provided on a daily basis which should have been without an additional fee.

The gardens and pool are lovely and well maintianed. The staff are kind and learning hospitality. The owner is working on upgrades and a new lounge is coming which is needed. Location is great. Quiet -which was nice. The room- was OK, would like a screen on the patio door so you could keep it open and not need the A/C. The sitting area outside of the room area is and not comfortable. The bed was OK. Shower great. A/C - we did not use. Enjoyed our stay there, but we found it expensive.

I've already requested a refund and am waiting for the email with my case number. We couldn't stay there, and we had to find a better place during a busy weekend and pay a lot of money. I arrived with my 85-year-old mother & my three kids, and the place didn't live up to the expectations set by the website pictures. There is no beach in front of the hotel. The pool & facilities are tiny. The place is hard to find because it is on a small street. The bedrooms are clean, but they're not as big as they look in the pictures. It is an uncomfortable, depressing place. I really appreciate the refund to compensate for the money I had to spend on another place.

Amazing oasis among walled-off private condos. A tranquil tropical garden around the pool, Latin music in a low volume lounge mode, and really unique artsy design of the 2-level rooms. Reviews complain about a walk to the town center in between concrete fended - yes, but that is a true Dominican experience as opposed to the artificial world of all-inclusive resorts. We like to combine both worlds on a single trip. Personnel is very courteous and welcoming. If you like latin dancing (salsa / bachata) and good cocktails, I recommend Mosquito bar - the very first venue you encounter when you walk. (Can also park nearby). It gets lively closer to midnight, with really good dancers. A little further along the shore the beach club restaurant is nice, and an ice-cream shop behind it

The entire staff was excellent. Excellent location, walking distance to the beach, Restaurants. Very quiet and peaceful. The staff always had a smile. Pool area, eating area was perfect. We loved it and definitely would be back. Also very economical.

The hotel pics do not do justice to the garden or setting. 400 meter walk to the best beach around as it is wide and you can escape the terrible traffic noise from quads, motorbikes, mopeds, blowing engines. It is in a good quiet area too, so tranquil. I think our room is in the process of an update as the floor looked very worn and dirty, but was not…..It is just in need of a good paint like the rest of the bathroom. Mini bar, snacks and meals available. Good value for families too as there were 3 single beds up in the open area upstairs of the studio. Very decent and caring staff. They were all charming.

I really like this boutique hotel. The staff is very nice and friendly. I felt like I was in a tropical oasis with the beautiful well maintained garden. The beds are comfortable and room was very clean. I really loved sliding my door and walking straight to the pool. Breakfast was delicious every morning. The security guard always opened the door for us after arriving from our late dinners.. I highly recommend this boutique hotel if you want to peace and quiet and total relaxation.

I would like to request a refund. The service was horrible. The check in process took a hour because they seemed understaff and the man who was trying to help us had no idea what he was doing because he was just security. Our door wouldn’t lock and I felt very unsafe and barely slept. The roaches were everywhere in the bathroom. Very unpleasant experience overall !

Für mich war die Unterkunft im Hotel La Tortuga genau das Richtige. Ich hatte ein Häuschen für mich alleine mit einem grossen Aussenbereich, der nicht einsehbar war. Die Innenausstattung war schön, wenn auch etwas einfach. Das Bett war super und der Zimmerservice ebenfalls. Das Personal ist sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Der Garten mit Pool ist wunderschön. Ich kann das Hotel nur weiter empfehlen.

Really enjoyed the quietness of the hotel. The breakfast has good options depending on your taste. The bedroom is quite large and the bed is comfortable. Staff were helpful. And the beach is less than 5min walk from the hotel.

Overall we had a great time. Price was great. Staff were awesome. Breakfast and food were good. My only issue is the rooms need some updating. Shower pressure was poor, no wall tray to put shower items. No staff for pm for items such as a crib for baby even though I could’ve requested one prior to stay. Modern update is time. But the concept is great. The pool has unlimited hours and is nice. Also ordering food at night at neighboring restaurant took 2 hours! But we made most of it and had a great stay.

We were very pleased with our stay at Hotel La Tortuga. The service was excellent. We were greeted with a delicious fruit juice. We arrived at the hotel at 2:00 p.m., and they let us check in anyway. We loved the breakfast; you can choose between eggs or pancakes. It includes a fruit cocktail, natural juice, coffee, and bread. There are a wide variety of restaurants and spectacular beaches around Las Terrenas. I recommend Punta Popi Beach... We would definitely stay here again.

The staff was wonderful, we had a lot of rain and they went above & beyond to make us happy. The quaint hotel is located walking distance to many restaurants. The only weird thing is that it is in a neighborhood where every property is walled in so kind of sterile looking getting there…… but inside the property is an oasis!

The entire staff was excellent. Excellent location, walking distance to the beach, Restaurants. Very quiet and peaceful. The staff always had a smile. Pool area, eating area was perfect. We loved it and definitely would be back. Also very economical.

I would like to request a refund. The service was horrible. The check in process took a hour because they seemed understaff and the man who was trying to help us had no idea what he was doing because he was just security. Our door wouldn’t lock and I felt very unsafe and barely slept. The roaches were everywhere in the bathroom. Very unpleasant experience overall !

I booked via hotels.com, arrived at 11PM. All doors locked, no way inside, no indication how to get in. I literally drove up and down numerous times. Tried calling multiple times, no answer. Contacted hotels.com, they tried contacting the hotel, no answer. So unfortunately, i paid for a hotel booking that i could not sleep in.

The hotel pics do not do justice to the garden or setting. 400 meter walk to the best beach around as it is wide and you can escape the terrible traffic noise from quads, motorbikes, mopeds, blowing engines. It is in a good quiet area too, so tranquil. I think our room is in the process of an update as the floor looked very worn and dirty, but was not…..It is just in need of a good paint like the rest of the bathroom. Mini bar, snacks and meals available. Good value for families too as there were 3 single beds up in the open area upstairs of the studio. Very decent and caring staff. They were all charming.

La Tortuga is an amazing place to relax! We booked here because we had booked a house in another town and our host canceled. We were so glad they did! We wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was amazing right from check-in, when we were welcomed with a drink (fresh fruit juice). The pool was very nice and located next to the very chic and very relaxed restaurant/bar (think lounge music and attentive but unobtrusive service). The beds were comfortable and the A/C worked well. The hotel is a short walk to the beach (~3-5 minutes) but set back enough that it’s quiet and peaceful; we fell asleep to the sound of frogs and never heard our neighbors. The bungalow-style rooms feel secluded and private. We drove an out of the way of our original plan to stay here and did not have a ton of time, so we ate dinner on the beach and didn’t try the restaurant food. We did try the bar, which was excellent.

I've already requested a refund and am waiting for the email with my case number. We couldn't stay there, and we had to find a better place during a busy weekend and pay a lot of money. I arrived with my 85-year-old mother & my three kids, and the place didn't live up to the expectations set by the website pictures. There is no beach in front of the hotel. The pool & facilities are tiny. The place is hard to find because it is on a small street. The bedrooms are clean, but they're not as big as they look in the pictures. It is an uncomfortable, depressing place. I really appreciate the refund to compensate for the money I had to spend on another place.

This place is a hidden Gem 💎 for me, everything was perfect, it wasn't grand, nor extravagant, but cozy and comfortable. The service was the best I've gotten in DR so far, it felt like i was visiting family. The breakfast was made right there, fresh, the pool was very clean and well maintained, it looked like a little retreat, like i was on my own little paradise. 5 stars I'm definitely going back again!!!

We were very pleased with our stay at Hotel La Tortuga. The service was excellent. We were greeted with a delicious fruit juice. We arrived at the hotel at 2:00 p.m., and they let us check in anyway. We loved the breakfast; you can choose between eggs or pancakes. It includes a fruit cocktail, natural juice, coffee, and bread. There are a wide variety of restaurants and spectacular beaches around Las Terrenas. I recommend Punta Popi Beach... We would definitely stay here again.

Overall we had a great time. Price was great. Staff were awesome. Breakfast and food were good. My only issue is the rooms need some updating. Shower pressure was poor, no wall tray to put shower items. No staff for pm for items such as a crib for baby even though I could’ve requested one prior to stay. Modern update is time. But the concept is great. The pool has unlimited hours and is nice. Also ordering food at night at neighboring restaurant took 2 hours! But we made most of it and had a great stay.

Lots of ambient light at night making it challenging to sleep. The distance to the beach was more like 450m through a concrete walled laneway. Breakfast was small and plain but nicely served. Drinking water was not provided on a daily basis which should have been without an additional fee.
