Horrible window view. No gym. No breakfast

One of my most pleasant business stays ever! The staff was so welcoming. The food at the restaurant was nothing less than divine. Plenty of parking with all of downtown Freehold’s attractions nearby. Close to a terrific breakfast at Big Lou’s.

The hotel is stunning. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and modernness of the room! Knowing the hotel is a historic building, I did not expect that. I appreciated the friendliness and efficiency of the associate who handled our check in. The parking included is a bonus!

This boutique style hotel was a lovely stay for us. Live music and a delicious dinner at the hotel restaurant was also a great addition to our stay.

Stayed overnight after seeing a comedy show at the hotel. Great accommodations, convenient, fun bar and crowd!

This is a charming historic hotel in a great location in Freehold. The staff are nice and the bar has a warm and friendly feel. They do not have a fitness center.

Great polite staff. Parking on weekends in back is terrible, no Parking in front. A menu in the rooms would be nice

Overall very clean and conviently located. However the view from most rooms is overlooking a roof of an adjacent building. No gym.

We came here to see Bobby Collins. It was a dinner show and we did not expect the quality of the meal to be as up scaled as it was. The room was comfortable and service was great. We stayed at the hotel which was spotless. The staff at the desk was terrific . Highly recommend

Clean, well-appointed room.

This hotel is very nice. I stayed overnight after a wedding and the bed and pillows were so comfortable. The room was clean and bathroom also. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you need accommodations while in the area.

This is an historic building that has been modernized. That means there is a central staircase that allows sound to travel to the upper floors, and little sound-proofing between rooms. However, the room was quite comfortable - we had a king bed and a couch. The bathroom shower had three showerheads! One on the ceiling and one each on opposite walls - nice when showering alone or together ;) There is free parking in the back, and we were able to walk to a restaurant on the block for dinner, and then to a different one for brunch. We would definitely stay here again if we needed to stay in the area.

Small but clean

Our only interacction with staff was at check-in, hotel bar and check-out. Check-in reception was friendly and courteous. The bartender wasn't the most friendliest but he was alone and it did get busy. The room was typical for an old property, the bathroom was great and clean. The mattress was extremely hard. We both woke up with hip and leg pain. In the morning, Sunday June 15th, at around 7:30 i went to the libby to see if they had coffee and asked a gentlemen walking in, probably to start yis shift, and he walked past me without saying a word. Check out was a breeze.

We had a leak in the room from all Of the rain. Nothing was offered. No discount. No free drinks or even future discount.

Disappointed with this hotel. I arrived a little early and was not able to check in. At 4pm our room was still not available. Went back at 4:20 and room still not available and I told them we had a show with tickets and this is causing an issue. Room was finally available at 4:37 and I was simply handed my room key with no apologies or anything! This inconvenience made us late for dinner and our show. While I realize things happen, the staff at the desk did nothing at all. Not even an apology or reimbursement of some of sort. Very sad customer service!

The hotel is beautiful and and the rooms were very clean. The only negative was JoAnn at the check in area. She was unfriendly, unwilling to help my 90 year old parents and had a bad attitude before we even checked in. JoAnn should not be working in a hospitality environment. She was the first impression and it was not a good one. I would stay in this hotel again, but would hope to have a different employee take us through the check in process.

It was a really sweet hotel, great location and the staff went above and beyond to make you feel welcome.

Workers are very personable

The staff are always so professional and helpful. The bartenders on the hotel side are attentive, knowledgable and charming.

My mother, myself and my children went for a Christmas weekend. Artie at the bar was extremely rude , hurtful, disrespectful and made us cry during the happy hour meal. The front lobby staff was also very short and rude. He was making fun and talking about my children to other patrons. I don't think the hotel is used to having any families there. However, Ryan and Brittany were incredible help. They saved our entire weekend. They were kind, gracious, understanding and very nice to my children. We ended up having a fantastic Santa brunch on Sunday thanks to them. We would return only if they were still there.

We were very happy with our stay at the American Hotel. Check in was fast and easy with Pat. She was friendly and helpful. Eric, the bartender, was friendly and efficient. The woman (sorry, I don’t remember her name) that checked us out was warm & friendly and offered us coffee to go as she knew we were going to be on the road. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Freehold.

What a great place to stay. Was within walkway distance of most food, stores, etc. The parking was easy and accessible. I could have stayed at a little cheaper place but they were a ways away from everything and not within walking distance which I liked. I would definitely stay again.

The American Hotel is such a gem! We had a wonderful stay right in the heart of charming Freehold. You can walk to excellent dining and enjoy the hotel bar/restaurant as well. The staff are amazing, kind, and thoughtful. THe parking was perfect and we loved the beautiful building and privacy of this hotel. We visited with 1 child and 1 teen and they both loved the experience as well. Highly recommended!
