The staff were great and customer friendly. The property parking was inconvenient.

This was our first stay at the Fairchild House and we loved it!! Staff is very friendly and forthcoming!!! Gated parking is a big +. We will definitely be back next time in NOLA

Parking on the street isn't ideal. We prefer secure parking, but no problems. Great staff. Enjoyed it.

I am so confused as to why this property has good ratings. I will start with the good points because there were a few. Please Read this whole review before booking this place. *Daryl was very helpful and nice. *location is perfect. Close enough to the action but far enough away to be peaceful Trolly is waling distance and we never had any issue finding street parking The place is basically falling apart. The lobby smells like mold and there was noticeable water damage. Our check in took forever. We have a truck and were NOT allowed to park in their secure parking lot. I was not happy because there was ample room for my truck the whole trip. I tried calling multiple times to speak to someone about this and no one answered. Our room was disgusting!!! I should have demanded a different room or a refund but I didnt want to start our vacation off with negativity. It smelled musty and there were huge water spits and peeling paint on the ceiling. I was afraid it was going to fall in. The bathroom tub and walls were gross. We didnt even take a shower because of this. We went to a friends hotel. There was peeling paint and Sheetrock damage in the bathroom and soft walls from water damage. This place has so much potential but the upkeep is horrible. The siding is rotten and whoever is doing the carpentry has never heard of caulk. The breakfast was basic I didnt eat it but I did have coffee it was good. Frankly I was afraid to eat anything from this place.

Room with a view & large comfortable bed. A particularly cold weekend in January, but staff had heat already warming room. Personnel made accommodations for our breakfast the next morning as we had a tour planned early. Breakfasts were wonderful with plenty of choices that included a veggie & egg casserole…wonderful all around. Parking on the street was very good, but knew there was gated/ enclosed area too. Thank you for everything!

Breakfast exceeded my expectations. Prepared and ready ahead of time. Plenty of space and no rush. Darrel checked us in and thoroughly explained and showed us the area. When free street parking was filled nearby we parked in their lockable solid metal paneled gates to the parking area directly behind their units.

We loved our stay at the Fairchild Inn. Having free parking in the back was a huge perk and the breakfast was amazing. Staff is top tier! After breakfast, they left the breakfast area open that I could get work done and are so personable. The rooms were older but a great place to sleep. The window AC was so cold and kept up really well for the summer weather! Located a block away from the trolley stop, in a relatively quiet neighborhood. I don’t see us ever staying anywhere else in New Orleans.

Great location, close to restaurants and the trolley. Superb staff and a really good breakfast. Plan on staying again. Oh, and free parking (either limited on the property or close by on the street).

Extremely nice Bed & Breakfast, they serve a very nice breakfast with the staff being very nice and accommodating. The property is located one block from the street car service, once we parked the car in the secured parking area never needed to move it until we checked out. The free parking is great, leaves more in the budget for having fun. Recommend this property to anyone and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

It would have been a great stay had it not been for a small incident and the way it was handled. I stayed in room 2 and got locked out. The key was stuck in the door and would not turn. I let the inkkeeper know. She sent the housekeeper to help. She could not turn the key either. The innkeeper then tried. Same result. She called another gentleman to also try. I assumed he had some sort of tool to get in. But he also only tried to simply turn the key. By this time, it's been 40 minutes and I was late for an event that was very important to me. Eventually, the door opened. I had to leave my room unlocked for the duration of my stay. I felt very unsafe leaving my belongings as some guest do not obey the rules of locking the gate and house entrance. The issue was never resolved nor was a locksmith ever called at any point even though I explained that I needed to leave as soon as possible when I first brought the matter to the attention of the innkeeper. The website lists off-street parking. When I arrived I drove around looking for it but could not find it so I called and was told I needed to park on the street. Minutes later, when I checked in I was told by the same person that I could park in the back. I had had a 13 hour drive and did not want to deal with it at that point so just stayed in the spot a few blocks down. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The innkeeper was accommodating to let me know when she'd start brewing coffee since there wasn't coffee in the room.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Fairchild House Bed & Breakfast. In fact, this was only the second time we have stayed in a bed and breakfast ever. It was super convenient for our needs, as we were able to park our vehicle in a private, off-street, secure lot, and walk everywhere we needed/wanted to go. This included the Convention Center, the French Quarter and Bourbon St. The Garden District neighborhood was peaceful and very safe. We enjoyed the breakfast each morning because there was a friendly attendant there who kept things supplied. Our room was very clean, and housekeeping brought us fresh towels each day. The only thing to "complain" about was the 12" television in our room. The antique sleigh bed made it impossible to see the screen from the bed. There was only one chair in the room as well. The room needs a larger tv for certain as well as another chair. We will definitely stay here again - but perhaps in a different room. Highly recommend Lula Restaurant and Distillery just one block east for dining and cocktails.

I’m giving this property a 4 out of 5 stars. For the rate charged it has lots of charm with lots of space in our double room and the Free Breakfast was really good! We had a foyer/mudroom, large closet and private bathroom. It was also nice to have Two outdoor sitting spaces: garden courtyard and an old fashioned front porch. The bathroom tub and tile floor in the bathroom was lacking care and cleaning was needed for both.

We had a great stay here! We didn’t want your typical hotel for New Orleans. We wanted something unique! This place was perfect. The staff were so friendly, the breakfast was delicious, the room was clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!

The staff were amazing! Great check-in, very welcoming, allowed us to keep our bag there for the day after check-out. However, the room smelled musty, probably given the age of the building. The comforter was dirty, but staff were quick to give us another one when we called them. Water in the shower just trickled and was either too hot or too cold. Good location, so overall not bad for a one night stay.

Das Haus besteht aus 3 Häusern, unser Zimmer war nicht gut. Das Doppelbett war 1,20 m breit (4ft) und sehr unbequem. Alles im Shabby Stile. Dusche und Waschbecken schmutzig. Teppich fleckig. Die Klimaanlage in der Wand mit Tape abgedichtet. Alles sehr hellhörig. Überwachungstechnik im Zimmer, warum? Wir sind eher abgereist! Das Frühstück war o.k.

The rooms are clean, staff was amazing, breakfast was great. Rooms are cozy. 2nd time staying.

It had a nice ambiance. Beautiful breakfast area and breakfast was perfect with very helpful cook. Room could have been cleaner, baseboards were dirty & i didnt feel comfortable walking barefoot in room and bathroom. If I had brought slippers it wld have been more comfortable. But overall very good experience.

I would never recommend that anyone stay at this bed and breakfast. Run - don’t walk - away!! The hotel is in complete disrepair, the grounds are a mess (don’t believe the photos online), the walls are covered with marks and dirt… Had three nights reserved and only stayed the first night because we could not find any other vacancy for that evening. Do NOT stay here - the state of this place is shameful.

Love the surrounding atmosphere great places to go and eat drink music. Not to far from my family’s home, probably could have bigger TV’s could barley watch them. All in all great place!!!

Overall a nice bnb with a good breakfast! The house itself is old so things are creaky and small. The mattress was also pretty firm, not a complaint just a heads up. Good restaurants within walking distance.

The courtyard was covered in leaves that could have been weeks since last swept. The location is very convenient for public transport and food options. The breakfast was underwhelming. Just fruit, cereal, boiled egg, and cold cuts. The only things hot were the coffee and the bread or english muffin you could toast. Nice people. Would stay again if they came down about $25 on the price I paid.

We made the reservatiin expecting to be in the house pictured for the property. Not to be. Instead we were placed in a third building which was apparently an old business. The room we had was right by the street and road noise was evident all night long. From previous B&B experiences, breakfast would include a nice casserole or made to order. This was more like what you'd get at a Super 8 motel. Disapponting. On the plus side it is close to eating options and a nice park to walk and sit in.

This nearly 200 year old property is in a great location with ample free street parking. The room was adequate considering we were only there to sleep. The window unit was loud but it kept the room cool after I cleaned the air filter. The building maintenance program, if it exists, is in need of a new strategy. I'd only stay here again if other options were not available.

We are very understanding people and easy to please. This place was definitely old New Orleans vibe for sure. Our only problem, and knowing this is a very old house, was the floor of the bathroom. The floor had a very obvious lean to it and i mean i put something on top of the toilet, and it immediately rolled off. We had a bottle that rolled to the bathtub. Other than that, the staff was so amazing and so sweet!!! The cleanliness was very acceptable. The service all together was perfect. The only recommendation to the owners, is if possible, please have bigger televisions or at least the TVs higher up to where you can see them due to the high footing of the bed. We would stay at this property again especially for the convenience.

I used to really like staying here but it has really fallen in my estimation. The mattress was really hard and the pillows were really done. The staff is nice but a lot better value for the money can be had elsewhere.

The person (property mgr?), Darryl, who checked me in was very kind and accommodating. And he seem well intentioned. However, my room (upstairs, in the rear) was simply awful. The bear was uncomfortable, the mattress, uneven, and the furnishings, aged and of poor quality. The absolute worst thing was the air conditioner did not work, and the temperature was about 90°. (I actually left the hotel after the first night, though I didn’t check out. I went to stay at a friends in the city. … I was too disappointed and enraged to even file a complaint with the manager. Besides, I knew they would not refund my money if I asked to leave immediately. I’m even certain that the kind gentleman who checked me in knew that I was disappointed, and that the air conditioner would not work. Yeah, he didn’t say anything. I would never stay here again. And, unless you have no other option, I would caution you against staying here either.

The wife and I stayed for our 10th anniversary for the weekend and it was great all the staff was very nice and courteous and easy dining accessible

Fairchild was perfect for our New Orleans visit! They were so helpful when I needed to shift our booking and Darryl had amazing restaurant recommendations.

I truly loved my time at the Fairchild House, especially the fun and lively atmosphere in the breakfast room with everyone chatting. The inn keepers were so kind and helpful, it was a very sweet New Orleans experience, can’t wait to go back!

A charming property in a beautiful neighborhood. The staff was thoughtful and accommodating. When my flight was delayed they kept the office open to help me settle upon arrival and they worked with my schedule for breakfast, local recommendations, and departure time. The building is beautiful, classic New Orleans style and a very interesting place to stay. The room was comfortable and felt safe and private. Stay at Fairchild house - you won't be disappointed!

Had a few issues w/ our twin bedroom, but the clerk called the owner and got us moved into another room. Continental breakfast was sufficient and fresh. Super kind breakfast hostess.

Our second trip to this charming BnB was once again outstanding. The staff is attentive, the location is super convenient, and the historic rooms are wonderfully done.

An excellent option if you're looking to stay in a New Orleans-style house instead of a hotel, a block away from streetcar line and close enough to downtown. Breakfast is good and employees are nice.

The place was a beautiful older group of buildings. It had charm and class. The area is quiet and safe. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The tram was just around the corner so you it was an easy ride to the French Quarter. The staff answered any questions I had and gave me a city map. Breakfast was served at a good time, not too early not too late and even made crepes one morning but had a good selection for cereal lovers or those who wanted healthy like boiled eggs and yogurt. I would stay again!

We had the best breakfast of our tour in USA. A lot of things, good bread and NO plastic. The hotel is already old. Our room was small and smelled a little bit as old houses do.

If you’re looking for a bougie place, keep looking. This place is authentic old Nola. Very eclectic, unique and a little spooky. We were quite surprised by the breakfast! Miss Kathy served us homemade cheese and spinach soufflé with sausage. Great conversation as well! We will definitely be making this a regular stay!

If you are looking for an authentic New Orleans experience, you won't find a better place to stay than The Fairchild House. Originally built in 1841, this delightful B and B will take you back in time. It's close (but not too close) to everything you want to see located 1 block from St. Charles Ave. Streetcar in the Garden District. The back patio is the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploration. The staff is attentive and extremely friendly. The breakfast provided daily between 8.30 - 9.30 consists of fresh fruit, bagels, and prepared eggs. A great way to start your day. This place is truly a "home away from home". I could not be happier with my experience here, and I will certainly stay here any time I come to New Orleans. There is no reason to stay anywhere else.

So comfortable and warm. Manager was so helpful and obviously enthused about the hoteldhis job. Personnel very friendly and kind. Felt right at home. Quiet and relaxing. Excellent New Orleans shrimp and grits for breakfast. Hope to be back soon!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here! Darryl was very friendly and informative when checking us in and throughout our stay. The breakfast included a mystery main (made to order crepes and quiche during our stay), assorted breads, cereals, lemon loaf, and some meats and cheeses as well as coffee, juice, and tea. All of which was very good! Beatrix and Kathy were both super pleasant and made delicious food. The location was great as it was just a trolley ride to canal and bourbon, the museums, and a walk away from the shops and restaurants in garden. The houses were all older and charming. Of course with that being said, they are also less nice than staying at a newer hotel. For me, I loved the architecture and design the Fairchild offered and that was a huge plus for staying in NOLA. Especially for the price point. We would and will stay here again!
