Battery Park Apartments Financial District

Stayed at the King Studio on the 8th floor for 7 nights. Check-in was unfortunately delayed past 4pm by 1.5 hours as housekeeping was late. However, Claudia at reception was kind enough to offer a 2-hour late check-out, which was appreciated. She was also one of the friendliest staff we met throughout our stay. The room was very spacious and well equipped. However, some parts of the room saw signs of ageing - scruffs and marks on the floor board and walls. In the bathroom, the shower water pressure was weak, and drainage was very slow. The provided body wash/shampoo/conditioner were sketchy. In the room, the air-conditioning was loud - though we didn’t have to use this much as it was winter. In terms of facilities, there was a nice rooftop patio, and also lounges which were nicely furnished. The gym was small and key amenities (air-conditioning and water dispenser) were not functioning. In terms of location, it was superb - the property is a close walk to South Ferry (for the Staten Island Ferry), Wall Street and Charging Bull. A stone’s throw to several subway lines (red, green, yellow). On balance, a well-priced option for those considering staying outside of midtown Manhattan. Would stay again.

The apartments are large and fairly new, with nice windows and a view of Battery Park. However, they had a lot of facility problems with elevators not working, ran out of detergent and very few lockers. Although there is not a lot to do in very close proximity, with a 15 minute walk there is and it has excellent connection to multiple subway lines.

The location is quite convenient, just few minutes away from metro stations and lots of dinning choices in nearby financial district. Facilities in the room are clean and good, especially washer and dryer. Staff are very friendly and willing to help, but the sofa bed is not stable and flat so we cannot use it unfolded. Online checkin and checkout is straightforward, but using code every time for taking the elevator seems not a good idea in terms of security and convenience. Unfortunately, we were trapped in an elevator after checkout, it took more than half an hour to get the door open and let us out.

Loved having a kitchenette and washer/dryer in the room. The rooftop and pool were incredible!

Check in was terrible. They need to ditch the app and go back to key cards. My bag was stolen and management was not helpful. The place itself was very nice and the rooftop lounge and pool were wonderful. Housekeeping ignored do not disturb sign on door twice.

Air conditioning was noisy. Pool facilities were always full of families with small children, with limited seating anyway, but good view for Staten Island Ferry :-). Good location for downtown.

Great hotel! Great customer service! Great location! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and will stay at the Sonder again. One wish is that their fitness center open earlier in the day.

Nice place with good connections. Very nice rooftop with swimming pool and also a gym. Downsides were aircon too loud, it would have been a problem if visitinf during summer and would have been nice room cleaning to be included, especially when you stay for more than a week. Asking people to pay on top is not great.

Hotel is really good and no resort fees which can be hard to find in New York! However the staff didn’t greet us once with a simple “good morning” or “hello” when entering or exiting the building they were just sat around talking to each other but it wasn’t personally a big deal for us. Also i think the security of the building could’ve been improved because anyone could walk straight into the lobby and right up the elevators and straight to your hotel door without needing a room key or passcode which I thought wasn’t very safe. And the staff at the front desk weren’t exactly looking to check who was coming in and out of the building either. Gym was also on the smaller side which wasn’t a massive deal but could’ve been improved because no more than 6 people could be in there at once. If you use the Sonder app the customer service live chat is amazing and really easy to use. Overall 8/10.

There were some stains on the floor and possibly mold on bathroom fixture. Room was spacious and in good condition. There was no toilet paper other than a half roll when we checked in

The hotel staff were doing their best, but it seemed like the hotel is undergoing renovations. The original room we were put in reeked of fresh paint, and when we asked to be placed somewhere else for health reasons, the new room was a downgrade in many ways. There was also frozen chicken in the freezer, I assume from the guests before us. We did like the AirBnB structure of the hotel, but the experience was mediocre. The room had many areas that looked unclean as well.

Really enjoyed my stay here. The place is super quiet and very clean, which made it easy to relax. The staff were absolutely lovely—friendly and helpful. It had everything I needed, from the basics to the little extras that made things more comfortable. Great location too, with easy access to public transport and some nice spots nearby. Would definitely stay again

Shower head on the top did not work at all, stains on shower curtain , bed , iron board was lopsided did not balance well , some knives were bent

Great location but extremely filthy in all areas. I understand there was an ongoing furniture installation for 4 days I was there but there was no cleaning done. The apartment was nice but baseboards were dirty.

Would I recommend - yes. Based on the spaciousness I would. Few small things that Sonder need to look at… Cleanliness - it was not nice to find a grubby old Band Aid on the floor of the bedroom. Also the fake plant in the living area was coated in dirt and dust. Either clean it or get rid of it. The location was good and I was happy overall. Was slightly put off that people were coming in reeking of weed. I know it is a problem everywhere these days but I didn’t expect to be smelling it in the reception or elevators. Over all it was a good stay even though the pictures on the website were a far exaggeration of what it looked like. The unit was a little tired and I could see some repairs that could easily be done but were not.

Staff at the front desk were awesome and friendly, the room was spacious and had everything we needed, the bed was huge and comfortable, it was a tad noisy due to the tunnel right outside but after a full on day exploring you were so knackered I didn't even notice it by the second night. Was in a great location close to world trade centre, there's a cute deli with friendly staff just around the corner, hotel location was close to 3 different subway lines which was great for when you were planning Ur days adventures. Some nice restaurants close by. My only criticism I have and this has got nothing to do with the hotel it's more to do with NYC itself. They have legalised weed over there and everywhere you go it stinks of it. I would 100% recommend this hotel and if I come back I'd probably choose to stay there again as I've got familiar with the area

Location is very good. Rooms are nice and clean (even if we had a cockroach in our room, but not a big issue). We had a technical problem in our room (linking water from the roof) and they changed immediately with other two, fine. A bit traffic noise from the window, but this Is NYC 😉

Room was airy and clean, with all appliances as exoected. Staff was friendly and approachable. Only letdowns were the room being on thr eastern side by the tunnel so was quite noisy, and the room heater was deafening loud.

HOWEVER the technology is half baked! We stayed at the Sonder Battery Park NY for almost 10 days and needed guest support to come open our room door pretty much every day. The phone App to open the door only worked once!!! Horrible…

The Sonder was a great place to stay. The location was great and the room is huge. However, we were told our room would include a sofa bed and we did not have one. Also, the virtual key didn’t work on the room door which was kind of a pain. I would highly recommend but know that you may not get everything that is stated.

This was a fantastic stay, we had a superior room with fridge/freezer and washing machine/dryer. Bed was very comfortable and beautiful views. Very helpful staff who helped us with enquiries without any hassle. We will stay again. Perfect location.

Big room, nice bathroom, good location, not so comfy bed though but overall very nicer

This was like an aparthotel, rooms were nice and huge. Water pressure in the bathroom was low. Computerized key system was complicated and mine didn’t work at all so staff needed to keep letting me into my room.

Excellent option if you’re not looking for a hotel. Quite spacious. A great view. The kitchenette was a bonus with a fridge and microwave/oven. It was noticeable that the appliances were of the highest quality. Great option when you have kids. It’s not cheap but it’s more affordable than the absurd prices for Manhattan hotels. I love NYC. I’ve been walking its streets since I was 16 but alas it’s no longer affordable.

Hi Sonder. Your hotel is good. We enjoyed having a kitchen and the options to stay 4. Regarding your staff, there was not much energy for service to pick up, And on the back of our stay where we forgot two pillows in the reception, It’s been a nightmare to get back to where we live. We had your first pond of contact on the phone for more than half an hour, With no results. And afterwards, emails going forth and back and still no results, which means we are now almost a week after no answers. This is disappointing, and we don’t know what to do?

Front desk was very accommodating and welcoming

Horrible experience. Key pad on door didn't work, so a staff member would have to let you in. Came back first evening around 11:00 PM. No staff available at front desk, except a sleepy security guard, who couldn't help us get into our room. After waiting 30 minutes a front desk employee finally showed up and assisted us upstairs and opened the door to our room. She never asked for our ID, so I guess anyone could've been let in. We cancelled the rest of our stay the next morning.

The stay at Sonder was really terrible. The bath tub was clogged when I got to the Sonder and I immediately informed the front desk as well as the customer service person through the app. The customer service persons on either weren’t helpful at all. The chat person kept apologizing but they kept dropping the conversation and didn’t actually come up with any resolutions. I had to explain multiple times and then I went to the front desk over 5 times to explain and each time they gave me a new excuse by a new person. The customer service was non existent. There is no way to call the front desk so you have yo go down each time there is an issue as the chat is completely useless. It took them 19 hours to get a plumber to come and fix the bathtub so I could shower. This should have been prioritized but until I really screamed they didn’t take any action.

We loved this place! The location is good and some metro stations are close by foot, the staff is super kind and very helpful if you need anything, the unity was really clean, spacious and in very good condition. Definitely we will book here again!

This had the potential to be a great stay, but due to a booking mistake, a lack of good customer service, and slow repairs, it turned out to be very average. I booked a king suite with sleeper sofa for me and my sister but got a queen with no sleeper sofa. staff me

I had an excellent stay! The property was clean, well-maintained, and had great facilities. The area felt safe and was super convenient, especially with easy access to public transportation. The 1 train and 4/5 train were both nearby, making it really easy to get around the city. Perfect spot for anyone looking for a comfortable and well-connected place to stay.

Very nice and convenient stay, easy access from the Subway. We had a very good service, had a concierge service for our luggage, as we arrived early.

Loved the location and view. Close to any train station you’ll need to take. Absolutely amazing

The hotel is located very close to the 3 different subway entrances and there's also a Whole Foods within half a mile. The area is mostly quiet and it felt very safe. Elevators worked without any issues. I would say be careful in the shower. It drains slowly so there's soap and shampoo residue on the tub surface and it's slippery. There are no grab bars, so really take your time getting in and out. We loved the apartment feel to the room. Loaded up on supplies from the Whole Foods about an hour after getting there and were set for a lot of meals for the week trip. The hotel does provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash (didn't use any of those), pods for laundry and dishwasher (did use those). There is a quite a bit of storage area and two closets to store clothing and luggage. There aren't a lot of hangers, so be aware of that. Pillows were kind of terrible, but there six of them so you can make it work. Overall very happy with the experience! We'd definitely stay there again on our next trip to NYC.

The hotel was in very good location for transportation and getting around Manhattan and the other boroughs.

This apart hotel in the heart of the Financial District is very well maintained, easy to access 24/7, and located within 2 blocks of several metro stations and a couple of big grocery stores, including a Whole Foods. The area is a bit deserted and very quiet at night, which is great if you want to rest well, but might not be ideal for people looking for a more lively late-night scene. During the day, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from. And there’s DoorDash, of course (they leave your order at a table near the lobby specifically for delivery service).

Overall it was a pleasant stay. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Close to breakfast spots, subway and whole foods or smaller convenience stores. Not enough lockers but we could leave our luggage at the front desk which was nice. Beds are uncomfortable glad I brought my own pillow. The sofa bed is not a bed we bought an air mattress on the second day. We were on the wrong side of the building very noisy due to the traffic outside. Would have liked a separate shower not a tub you stand in with a shower head that wasn’t adjustable.

I loved this stay - I had a Queens Studio Apartment for two nights over New Years Eve & my only regret is not staying for longer. It’s clean, open, lots of space and super pretty. The one downside is it’s very self guided, there is no staff really to check you in or out, you do that yourself, and the room service felt more like a small restaurant & you couldn’t order things like wine to the room. But those are minor things. But everything else was wonderful &

Great size, well equiped kitchen and confortable bed. It has a coffee machine and they provided coffee, and the soap in the bath was great. But I was somehow not able to lower down the volume of the TV, there was a constant and annoying noise from a ventilation spot (not possible to switch off) and there are no many dinning options close. But in general is a good place to stay
