Had a great time here. The river was very high, but did not diminish our experience. Best rooftop bar in Stillwater, and amazing staff.

did not care for the fact that the hotel charges for daily parking.

I liked the view of the river and the location of the hotel. The rooftop bar was very nice, loved watching the sunset and sitting around the warm fire tables. Hotel is expensive, at check in they charged an extra $18 for MN tax and $20 to park the car for the night. The room could use a little updating-very basic for total of $290 a night there wasn’t a mini fridge or microwave in the room.

Overall great hotel however, the overnight parking rates are ridiculously overpriced!

Neat historic building in a great location for exploring Stillwater on foot. Additional cost for parking seemed high but was conveniently located across the street (very little overnight on street parking in the town).

This is a really comfortable historic hotel that has been updated. Very large rooms, some with views of the river. A good Irish pub in the building serves meals, and the shops and restaurants of Stillwater are all within a couple of blocks. Very relaxing stay.

We had a great time while at the hotel. The only thing we did not like was the fact they charge for parking and added city tax once we checked in, which was not explained by Expedia.

Love the location. Convenient to shopping and trails. The 2 restaurants onsite are incredible. We did have a ticking noise all night possibly from the air conditioning - it kept us up most of the night. Otherwise, we would recommend this hotel and plan to stay there again.

Great location to walk the downtown area and great Irish pub

The front desk assistant was great. He knew our room was above the restaurant and there was a band playing that night. He told me it did get loud at times in that room and offered to move us. I was very appreciative. The room was spotless. The only thing I would suggest is to fasten the fan cover to the wall in the bathroom.

The hotel needs updating and cleaning, it has an old musty smell. The deck was dirty and the deck above was covered in cobwebs and dust. You pay a high price for location only.

CONS: - ants in bathroom - dust everywhere (check vanity lights) - peeling/chipping paint/wallpaper - DATED, not historical, decor - stained carpet room and hotel - not worth the expense and received no comp for the ANT issue - ants in bathroom even after having us stay out of room for the day so they could spray (2 nights, 3 days - over $1000 suite) PROS: * super staff!!!! * location fabulous - view unforgettable * quiet room * soft comfortable bed * temperature control great * lots of space (no mini fridge)

Didn’t feel very clean in our room.

The woman working the front desk on Saturday 10/6/2024 at 1:00 was incredibly rude. My room smelled like an old, dirty ashtray, dirty floors, dirty and smelly shower, grout in the shower was missing or moldy, at least 5-7 inches of mold spores growing on the wall above the shower. Rooms above us were LOUD. On the positive side, the young man trying to check the herd of guests in at 4:00 was working alone and was very polite. There were also plenty of towels provided and the screen door opened fully which was a necessity to keep open all night to diffuse the old ashtray odor of the room, RIDICULOUSLY overpriced for nearly $300 plus the surprise fees they added at check-in. Perhaps the new section of the hotel is better? I guess we will never know...

This hotel stay was one of the worst I’ve experienced. The room was advertised as having two beds, but upon arrival there was only one bed and a pull out couch. My request for early check-in was an epic fail. I was told at 11:30 the room was currently being cleaned; didn’t receive a call from the hotel until 7 minutes prior to our original scheduled check-in time. Parking - not enough characters left in this review to remotely cover my disgust with the parking situation. Apparently this hotel expects all guests to arrive in ONE vehicle and there are ZERO accommodations or alternative parking options for their guests when there’s more than one vehicle. RIDICULOUS!!! The staff was cold and didn’t seem to want to truly help resolve any issues to make our experience better. For $400+ a night —- I expect far more for my money. Instead, I received semi rude customer service, a lack of accommodations (no extra parking, no fridge, microwave or ice bucket in the room). No extra blankets in the room for the additional bed (I mean pull out couch with a HORRIBLE mattress.) A jacuzzi tub that still had cookie crumbs on it from the guests who stayed in the room before us. And the bathroom grout = disgusting; clearly this is due to the water that backs up when the shower is running. This hotel clearly hides behind the word “historic” in order to charge their guests ridiculous prices for subpar rooms that offer little to no amenities. Save yourself the trouble - book elsewhere!

I thought my room was damp, even the carpet. It was old, old, old. It could use a little love & maintenance.

Please consider another property when visiting the Stillwater area. The bed was horrible. It was so wore out and had no support whatsoever. Don’t look too close at the carpeting. It’s so dirty. They must not have a crevice/edge tool for their vacuum. The edges and corners were so dust filled and dirty. The shower had minimal pressure and the handle to turn the water on/off was rusty and full of mold. The edge of shower door and corners of shower also had mold on them. The bathroom does not have a vanity, making it difficult to get ready. Also the room didn’t have a desk, just a very small 6” x 6” table. The mantle above the fireplace was about to fall off. At the bar, Charlie’s, we had a hard time getting service. The first attempt we sat at the bar and no one was around to take our order. An hour or so later we did manage to get one drink. The bartender was more concerned with a group of buddies who were also there. The location was great. The towels were soft. We do not recommend.

The room we were in was VERY old and not clean, especially the bathroom. Please understand that some of the rooms at this property are old/vintage while others are newer and more modern. We unfortunately were on the old section. Jets in the whirlpool tub were filthy and while, even in clean I would never use a hotel hot tub in a guest room, it was quite off putting. I noted the cleaning staff did not carry a vacuum only a lint roller type of device to go over the carpeting. Also, I found various cobwebs throughout the room. Decor is very very very old, which might be some people's taste but it is old ornate type of furniture which was in desperate need of a good dusting. I will say, the location of this property is ideal, In the heart of all the action. Stillwater is an amazing town, this property just needs some MAJOR updates.

Hotel is in great location! Very expensive - no fridge or microwave in any rooms. Hotel is old but kept clean.

Amazing to be right on the river. The rooms are not created equally. We were in the old section of the hotel and the rooms are in dire need of an update. The sheets are worn, the grout in the bathroom comes off when you walk on it, the paint is chipping, there are hardly any outlets and the old jacuzzi in the room is gross.

Oh man the 20$ parking wasn't something I expected with the lack of parking in town now next time I'll definitely pay it. The room was immaculate, the bed was so soft and the fireplace and hot tub in the room were a real surprise. For the price I paid I will DEFINITELY be coming back. There was also an amazing bar and restaurant that lead directly to the main street so if your looking for a place to stay where you right on main Street with amazing amenities in a beautiful little hotel this is the one. Again, will definitely be coming back. Like in a few months hopefully

The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Stillwater near shops, restaurants, and the riverfront. The rooftop restaurant/bar has a spectacular view of the river. While the outside and public areas have been renovated, the room was dated to the point of shabbiness. The bathroom could use a complete renovation and the room a paint refresh. The room was dimly lit and low on outlets. There was no desk and the chairs at the small table were very uncomfortable. Linens and towels were new and clean. Parking is not included and the lot associated with the hotel is pricey, but there seems to be a lot of metered or free street parking available.

Had a room over looking river. Chairs on deck had bird crap on cushions and were generally in poor shape. Room was average and seemed smaller then web site picture. Tried it, but until they do a major update, probably will not stay there again

“Historic” doesn’t equate to old, outdated and ugly. Paper thin noisy walls and very loud traffic noise. Nice location, but very overpriced.

Room was fantastic, fireplace is a great amenity and the view was amazing.

It is a pleasant hotel that provides river views and the rooms have balconies you ca sit on. Fireplace and jacuzzi tubs in the room. East access to everything.

The room was extremely noisy with outdoor noise and the bathroom sliding barn door was so heavy I was not able to slide shut.

Super loud all night long (cars, people) and other rooms jet tubs going off at 2 AM kept us up for a while. Staff were super nice! Our room was cute but no fridge or microwave for that price. The best thing about the hotel was the location, close to everything!

Could not sleep at all because of dishes banging around from the restaurant below. Ended up driving home at 3am because of the noise. We were parked on the road for free and moved to their parking lot. They ended up charging us 20 bucks for parking without telling us. They also charged me another 19 bucks saying it was for taxes although I was paid up through Expedia. I e mailed the hotel manager and he or she did not respond. I e mailed them through Expedia and they did not respond. Worst hotel in Stillwater. There are many options- we will not be choosing this one again, beware.

Wonderful staff. We had trouble getting into our room (the door was sticky). They came up with us to help. Later, we realized that the hot water barely worked on the hot tub. They switched us to a different room. Both rooms were wonderful. We absolutely loved our stay and would love to come back.

There was no maid service. Could at least have used clean towels and toilet paper. Room phone didn't work. Carpet worn almost bare in spots. Will not come back.

Had to pay for parking and Maggie or Margie at the front desk wasn’t very friendly we felt like we were a bother

Great place, perfect location. Cool old building. Had an older room but all good. No room cleaning or towels when requested. But we figured it out. Service not great. Will go back though.

We really enjoyed our stay at Water Street. Loved the room, the view and how convenient it was to all the shops and restaurants. All the staff was excellent, from the front desk to the bartenders and wait staff. Hope to be back.

Check in was difficult because EVERYONE is trying to check in at 4:00 & the reception is icy. We've stayed many time here & may not again.

Excellent front desk

My husband called a couple of days before our check-in to see if early check in was available, to which they said yes. We got there very early, but waited until about 2 before we asked about the early check in. There had been a couple of other people that came in asking about early check in and the woman at the counter was quite rude, so we didn't even bother asking. It was not a good first impression at all. The restaurant is amazing though! Our server Ashley was incredible!!

The location was great and we had a balcony overlooking the river. Loved the view and the ease of getting to and from places. Also, loved that it had its own designated parking spaces.

We enjoyed our stay at the Water Street Inn. A fantastic location. The Irish restaurant was very good for breakfast. We didn't have any sheets or extra blankets to use in our suite, so we had to ask for them to bring them to the room. Also, not all the windows had shades on them. We had three people in our suite, but they only had enough towels for two people. Overall the room was quiet except for a drunk yelling during the middle of the night.

Hotel was great, onsite restruant was horrible, we left after sitting for a long time waiting for service.

Small bathroom and shower with no place to put toiletries. We had no fridge in our room and the bed was very small. The woman checking us in and out was not very friendly or helpful. We had dinner in the Irish restaurant and the server, who was friendly, was not very attentive. The food was just ok.

We have a boat at one of the local marinas in the summer & we enjoy coming out on the off season as well and love the Riverview rooms. The two things we dislike are the lack of assistance & rude waitstaff at Charlies. I also own a business and we pride ourselves in customer service and I would rate that Restaurante staff a C- Not the biggest thing though and we look forward to our next stay! Thank you!

Beautiful place - good food and nice bar on site!

Great view of the river. The restaurant was good with live music at night. My cousins room had a weird red stain on the floor. Some of the lobby furniture was really old and very uncomfortable. Would still recommend!

Overall wonderful! Excellent service! Everyone was so kind and smiles all around! We loved the flexible check in time since we couldn’t get back from the concert until late. The live music at Charlie’s was amazing!! Beautiful views and room. Both restaurants were excellent and we dined in both for nearly all our meals. I was however let down that the crown molding in the room was wallpaper, it took away the entire aesthetic of the historical beauty of the room. The bed was also quit stiff and small for two people. We could also hear the freight house a little too well, but nothing one can do on that. Thank you for an overall great experience!! It made my mom’s birthday super special!!
