Hotel Portonovo Plaza Malecon

Lamentablemente fuimos cuando estaban haciendole reparaciones al hotel, la alberca no funcionaba por lo mismo, mucho ruido en el día por la construcción.

Like where do I begin??? First of all when I booked this place I was not told there would be Reno's going on from 9 am until 10:30 PM daily with jack hammers and drilling banging etc. Secondly one of the reasons why I booked this Hotel was because it had a pool. I have a total of 4 knee replacements 3 on left knee and 1 on right knee. I needed the pool to keep my knees exercised. The 3rd and 4 th floor was completely closed off. The first room I was in was so dark and like a dungeon and the card key would not work half the time and had to keep going down to the desk and having it re activated between 2 -4 times a day. They kept accusing me that it was my Cell phone. I did not even have my Cell phone with me on this trip. Plus there was a lot of mold in the shower and on the ceilings and walls. I had to go buy bleach to kill some of the mold. After a week of dealing with it. I demanded I be moved to a different room. So the second room was better but still mold on the ceilings and in the shower. Plus the Patio Door which I was on the first Floor did not have a lock on it and would not close properly. I was very nervous that someone could jump up onto my patio and get into my room. I was told by the Receptionist that the Hotel had sent out Letter to all the booking Companies stating that there would be Reno's going on so I feel Hotels.com did not inform me on this matter otherwise I could have booked elsewhere. Very disappointed and totally wrecked my whole 4 wk. holiday.

Everything was great except the elevator didn’t work. I was fine going up and down the stairs, but many elderly people struggled. The location was great. Many restaurants and shops.

Me gustó mucho que todos son amables, siempre está limpio, el lugar está muy cerca de la playa, de tiendas, del malecón y restaurantes, solamente creo que pueden invertirle más en el mantenimiento del edificio, hay cosas como los azulejos de la piscina que están rotos o partes donde no tiene que de hecho hicieron que me cortara, también había que estar viendo que alcanzáramos estacionamiento porque hay muy poco, pero fuera de esas 2 cosas, el lugar es muy agradable, la comida del desayuno también y volvería a ir 😊

La alberca estuvo fuera de servicio, piso 3 y 4 estaba en remodelación y desde temprano mucho ruido, debido al mal acomodo del escombro en la rampa del estacionamiento dañe mi auto, busqué cómo contactar a algún ejecutivo de xpedia para ver si me podía mover de hotel y no fue posible, es lo malo de comprar por este medio de aplicaciones

When I first checked in, they put me in a room that was absolutely awful and told the pool was out of order. I called in to request a hotel change and was told that wasnt an option but was given an upgrade. The new room was nice but had just had renovations completed. I had to put batteries in the safe and the remotes. The floor was still under construction and there was noise all day and well into the night. Also, the elevator only worked half the time and there were no handrails to walk down 3 flights of stairs. The breakfast is decent but the breakfast room is under construction so enjoy trying to find a spot in their 6 tables off the lobby and sitting in folding chairs. This could all be forgiven except for the absolute lack of any decent customer service. The front desk staff is actively unpleasant, none of the porters speak even one word of english nor know how to smile, yet stand there looking for a tip and the vibe at this place is not one of welcome. I spilled a bright colored drink and used a towel to clean it and they charged me for a towel, Which was understandable until they charged me 400 Pesos for a crappy white towel and held my room key hostage until I paid. After spending the week at a similarily priced hotel 2 blocks away I know that this isn’t the standard. I will NEVER consider this hotel again and will actively not recommend. Not sure how they got such a good rating to start with because they sure didnt earn it from me.

Staff are good. Room was not good. Found cockroaches in the room. No pool as it was under construction during the time I visited but it was not mentioned during the booking. No wifi in the room I got and had to go to the lobby.

Not very clean, there was hair in the bed sheets and all over the floor. It felt very dirty.

Le falta mucho a la limpieza, las sabanas estaban sucias, y el piso con tierra.

The reason I gave a one star for cleanliness is we had bed bug the first week we realized that it was that. The room looked clean and we got it cleaned every day. But when we realised we were full of bug bits we asked to change room and they found us one the next day. We will not be back sorry just bad luck I guess.

Il y avait des taches sur le lit, des taches sur la chaise, des chips et du sable par terre. Il y avait une seule serviette. Je suis allée demander une autre serviette et d'autres draps, heureusement il y en avait. J'ai montré les photos des taches a la responsable et ça n'avait pas l'air de lui déranger. Elle m'a donné un draps pour que je refasse mon lit. Une seule fenêtre qui donne sur les murs intérieurs de l'hôtel et sur les airs climatisées. N'y allez pas. Les cartes pour la chambre fonctionne 1x/4 et la réception donne une carte de notre chambre a un employé de l'hôtel. Bizarre

The breakfast was awesome. build your own Huevos Rancheros, pancakes, fresh fruit and more. Hotel clean with comfortable beds. 1/2 block from the beach and next to big grocery store. Definitely stay here again.

1. The room was in terrible shape. We had awful water pressure in the shower with almost no hot water. The shower leaked badly...all over the bathroom floor. 2. The room safe was broken so we were unable to secure our valuables in the room. 3. The selection of food in the breakfast buffet should have been better. You should add scrambled eggs, toast, home fries, sausage or bacon, a selection of pastries, fresh fruit, and a selection of cereal. The selection of food in the buffet was geared more toward Mexican guests and not toward American or Canadian guests. 4. The air conditioning unit should have adjustable vents so it wouldn't be blowing cold air on guests when they are in bed trying to sleep. 5. The ceiling fan did not work. We would have turned off the AC and used the fan overnight if it had. 6. The only good things we can say about the room is that the bed was comfortable and we liked the location. Unfortunately, because of all the negative things listed above, we will not be returning to the Hotel Portonovo.

Upon arrival we were told our room was on the second floor, and that the elevator was not working. What’s more, breakfast would be served on the fourth floor, still no elevator. Our room had a city view as we were told. It overlooked a very, very busy Street which was often very noisy. Be sure to bring earplugs for night time. The shower stall was not completely enclosed, and water leaked out onto the floor and behind the toilet. The beds were very comfortable and the closet was adequate although there was no dresser. The room key card failed every day and had to be re-keyed. The food for breakfast was complete and good, Actually excellent. Staff was pleasant and helpful to get our bags upstairs.

You get what you pay for. Would not recommend the double rooms during summer here. Rooms are too small, poor a/c and too humid.

We were initially dissapointed as the room was so SMALL - smaller than an inside cabin on a cruise ship and that is saying something. We are 2 ladies travelling together so need twin beds and the first room we had, 307, barely had room for our suitcases. And had a musty smell because the only window was a small window that opened in to the hallway! We did complain and the next morning Monica the assistant manager switched us to 313 which was still a small twin room but at least it had a glass patio door and window that let in light. And there was a small window in the bathroom for extra ventilation. The small twin room, 307, is more suitable for a single traveller or maybe a couple who are travelling light and just need a room for one night. The Hotel is very clean and well maintained, with attentive staff, and so convenient, being just a block up from the water and just a few blocks from the Malecon. There are lots of restaurants, food stands and bars right out the door but it is a noisy neigbourhood. Which didn't bother us but a light sleeper might ask to be on the water side of the building. The breakfast - which is included - had both hot and cold options so that was a nice feature of the hotel. The 4th floor patio is a nice place to hang out during the heat of the day. I would stay here again. But bring your own facecloth as they are not generally supplied in Mexico.

The safe did not work. The showerhead was tuck into a small corner with no water pressure and limited hot water. Walls are super thin, and can hear the cleaners and neighbors walking down the hallway and slamming doors. Wifi was given but the connection was non-existent. The beds were ok.

Comfortable beds. Helpful staff but most didnt speK much English. Good location central to shopping, resturants and close to beach. Rooms on street side of hotel are extremely noisy due to busy road traffic. We requested a move and staff honoured our request and moved us to ocean side of hotel. No views on either side of hotel.. Pool is a bit small and in need of repair. Safe in our room eas broken. We were promised a replacement which didnt happen but we checked out next day so we just put up with it.

This property is a little bit older than some but still in great shape. Rooms are exactly as shown in the pictures, I mean exactly. Decent WiFi. All the staff are very friendly and willing to help out with anything you need. The area around the hotel is awesome. Safe to walk. Grocery store across the street. Lots of little "dive" taco shops that are really tasty and super affordable. Close to all the sites in Centro. I stayed here for 4 nights and liked it so much I came back for 3 more nights at the end of my trip.

I would recommend this hotel anytime, amazing location, walking distance to the Malecón, night clubs, and all the amenities, friendly staff, We arrived early for checking in due to flight arrival at PVR, we were able to leave our belongings secure at the hotel until we were all check in, the guys helping us with our luggage and were helpful, thank you for the complementary wine bottle. next day early morning had breakfast included with the room stay. kudos to the staff for the warm welcoming. Highly recommended to anyone.

Terrible staff service from receptionist. She was very rude.The day shift bellboy was very sweet and gave us good service . Hotel is old and not what i expected from pictures. Bed only had a thin sheet and when i requested a blanket the receptionist said they didnt have any. I did not received vip perks Will not stay here again. Location is good but its not worth the terrible experience.

Excelente servicio y atención de todo el personal del hotel

We stayed for 3 days 2 nights. We never got our room cleaned. When I ask the staff for to at least get new towel, the front desk person said they the room for clean towels is lock. We were only provided one roll of toilet paper, once again I ask the front desk they said the room was also lock. We had to go XOXO & purchase our own. Horrible experience.

The room was clean. Great location. Pool area could have had a couple more umbrellas. It was very hot and there was only one umbrella set up. Other than that it was a good hotel. Breakfast was good as well.

Lovely staff, fabulous breakfast, rooms clean. Highway side is very noisy with traffic and there are a few rough edges - pool unusable due to pigeons and lack of cleaning and patio doors need oiling. Great central location in downtown PV. Worth every penny of the reasonable room rate.

Changed to a room in the back (ocean side) for the rest of our stay. Quiet and pleasant. Beds in both rooms were comfortable. Air condition was good but created a musty odor. Shower stall was big but the placement of the shower head (in both rooms was located beside a corner beam) made it feel tight. Breakfast buffet was good, fresh fruit and eggs, juice, yogurt, sides. Coffee was not available prior to restaurant open hours. Bottled water was provided for the first day only. The hotel is located 3 blocks from Malecon, close for nice walks and far from the blaring music of the bars. There are various restaurants and coffee shops in the area, research the travel blogs to find one that fits your taste and budget. Mcds and Starbucks for coffee and ice cream for the boardwalk stroll. Clean attended washrooms (10 pesos) available. We did not have a car, walked the area. The bus system is good, but needs some knowledge in order to be used effectively.

Centrally located, easy access to the Malecon

Great location at the Malecon, PV. Easy access to beautiful beache, bus, hikes, taxi, grocery store, theater and many small restaurants and bars. Breakfast and coffee on the top floor was OK. Friendly staff at the dining area and front desk. I would stay there again likely in the future.

I always enjoy my stays at Portonovo. This was my 5th time and I was treated so well I will return again. The breakfast is included and what a variety! Tasty food and great service. I love the location, two blocks from the north end of the Malecon, across the street from the beach and in the middle of all the little shops. Perfect for me.

Small but clean room. Nothing fancy but definitely a good choice. It would have been nice to have the included breakfast, but they didn't serve it until 8 am...rather late in my opinion. No coffee either.
